Dance in your seats, wiggle your tails, and get ready to rock out as Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy and Princess Twilight form a new rock band that’ll go head-to-head with the newest girl group in Battle of the Bands at CHS.

More:

On the tail of a wildly successful run of MY LITTLE PONY EQUESTRIA GIRLS the movie in 2013, Screenvision has teamed up with Hasbro Studios and Shout! Factory to bring the full-length feature MY LITTLE PONY EQUESTRIA GIRLS: RAINBOW ROCKS to more than 300 cinemas across the U.S. and Canada beginning September 27. Information on listings and links to book tickets can be found at mlpeg.com.

MY LITTLE PONY EQUESTRIA GIRLS: RAINBOW ROCKS the movie finds Canterlot High (CHS) hosting a musical showcase, and Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Fluttershy are going to be performing with their new band, The Rainbooms. But when The Dazzlings, a new girl group, arrive at CHS and convince everyone to turn the friendly showcase into a Battle of the Bands, tensions mount between the competing musical acts. A now-reformed Sunset Shimmer realizes that the Dazzlings may not be ordinary girls and are after something far more sinister than just being named Best Band at Canterlot High. The Rainbooms call on Princess Twilight to restore harmony to their world to help them perform a musical counter-spell so that they can win a battle that now determines the fate of the entire school!

“Screenvision and Shout Factory have been wonderful partners and we’re looking forward to once again working with them to bring MY LITTLE PONY EQUESTRIA GIRLS fans the next installment of the beloved franchise,” said Stephen Davis, president, Hasbro Studios and Global Entertainment & Licensing. “We’re thrilled for audiences to see the spectacular MY LITTLE PONY EQUESTRIA GIRLS: RAINBOW ROCKS musical numbers performed by their favorite MY LITTLE PONY characters on the big screen coming this Fall.”

The film welcomes back several key members of the “Alice In Wonderland” team, including award-winning composer Danny Elfman (“Fifty Shades of Grey,” “Big Eyes,” Silver Linings Playbook”), three-time Oscar®-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (“Memoirs of a Geisha,” “Chicago”), who won Oscar, BAFTA and Satellite awards, among others, for her work on “Alice In Wonderland,” and five-time Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Ken Ralston (“Forrest Gump,” “Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi”), who won a Satellite Award for best visual effects for “Alice In Wonderland.”

Bobin’s award-winning production team also includes Oscar®-winning production designer Dan Hennah (“King Kong,” “The Hobbit” trilogy, “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, Oscar for “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”), and Stuart Dryburgh (“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” “Bridget Jones’ Diary,” Oscar nomination for “The Piano”) as director of photography. The film welcomes Oscar-winning make-up and hair designer Peter King (“Lord of the Rings: Return of the King,” Oscar nominee for “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”), and Oscar winner Neil Corbould (“Gravity,” “Gladiator”) is special effects supervisor. Andrew Weisblum (“Noah,” Oscar nominee “Black Swan”) is editor.

Disney World Dining – Be Our Guest Restaurant which is better Lunch or Dinner?

BOG e1389707149867
BOG e1389707149867

Since the restaurant opened in 2012 – Be Our Guest has seemingly remained booked solid since the Grand Opening and continues with no end in site as the restaurant inches near it’s second year anniversary this December. Be Our Guest (BOG) is currently standing tall as one of the most difficult restaurants to reserve Advanced Dining Reservations (ADR) on Disney World property. I have seen countless guests turned away at the gates attempting to ‘walk-in’ to this illusive dining experience, but ADR’s can be stressful and almost impossible to get. So if you are still searching for that ADR for Be Our Guest, you are not alone! However, you may be aware that Disney offers a tempting alternative with a Quick Service option of this restaurant which allows guests to experience Disney’s most Enchanting dining experience for Lunch even when ADRs cannot be found, but what is the difference between the two options? Both Lunch and Dinner offers their own perks and disadvantages so you may be wondering, “Am I really missing out if I choose to dine during The Quick Service Lunch instead of Dinner?”.

Did you know?

Be Our Guest (BOG) is the only dining location on Disney Property that offers a FastPass+ Dining option and they do this for good reason – This restaurant is so incredibly difficult to book that Disney created this FP+ option to help downsize crowds and wait-times but YES there is a catch – This FP+ option is available by invitation only and the invitation is randomly issued to various Guests staying on Disney Property. So it’s no secret that the lucky guests to receive this invitation feel much like they have found the Golden Ticket! Receiving the BOG FP+ invitation allows you to be escorted upon your arrival, to walk with pride past the endless Quick Service Stand-By line, instantly skipping the wait, and ushering you directly through, where you can then place your Lunch order with the help of a little Disney Magic. Talk about your VIP treatment!

If you do not have a BOG FP+ invitation: Don’t fret! It’s not impossible to get a table during Quick Service hours but it can take a little extra effort, if you are not prepared. The BOG Quick Service line can get quite long but not unbearable if you know what to expect.

If you do have a BOG FP+ invitation: Then by all means – use it to your advantage! You might like to know that the difference between the Lunch and Dinner service – is not as different as you may think!

Choosing the dining experience that is right for you and your family can be a difficult task, but we have a pro’s and con’s list to better help you make that selection. For more detailed information on the comparison to help you decided if you should skip the ADRs and take the Lunch option instead.

BOG – Quick Service Breakdown

Lunch is served from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Seating is limited and is available on a first-come-first-served basis, so I would recommend that guests interested in finding a table during Be Our Guests’ Quick Service hours (considering that crowd levels are on average) guest should be lined up at Beast’s Castle no later than 10:00AM. The lines will only grow throughout the day so get in line early for a better chance and less wait!

Tips for waiting in the BOG Stand-By Line:
Like all Stand-By lines in Disney the wait times can get long so bring something to help you pass the time while you’re waiting. This is a great time to pull out the Smart Phone or Tablet and look up the BOG Menu and Pre-Select your lunch order for each member of your family. This would also be a great time to use the My Disney Experience App to get a head-start on planning the rest of your day, checking wait-times, FastPass+ options and more.

Don’t Get Discouraged: Although the line looks long, no worries! The BOG line usually looks a lot worse than it really is. From my experience the line moves fairly quickly and Disney does an amazing job taking care of their guests in the meantime.

Stay Hydrated: The Cast Members at Be Our Guest usually offer water to Guests waiting in line for BOG Quick Service tables on hot days but be sure to bring a cold drink or bottled water because like all Stand-By Lines at the parks, it maybe be a little longer than expected to get inside and out of that hot sun.

Bring an Umbrella: There is no covering or overhead shade from the sun on Beast’s Castle Bridge (The location of the BOG Stand-By line) again you may be standing for awhile and Florida can get unbearably hot when shade is not available during those Summer months, so an umbrella can offer a much needed break from that hot Orlando sun!

Be Our Guest Magic Kingdom

Be Our Guest – Lunch vs. Dinner Pros and Cons

Quick Service (Lunch) –

Pros:

  • Quick Service Lunch offers many of the same items found during Dinner so if you’re craving Be Our Guests’ Braised Pork or Strawberry Cream Cheese Cupcakes, you’re in luck! Both of those options are also offered on the lunch menu along with many others.
  • Mrs. Potts has insisted that you’ll dine like royalty, with real china and flatware rather than the usual theme park throw-away plates and cutlery.
  • You personally select your dining room. Would you rather dine in the West Wing, Rose Gallery, or the Ballroom? During Lunch you can pick your seat in the room that suits you best.
  • Food is less pricey during lunch hours. Food may be slightly smaller portioned but the portions are very large for lunch and still gives you a unique opportunity to have an amazing dining experience and taste the wonder that is French Cuisine.
  • Enchanted Experience. Upon arrival you are whisked away into the Library to place your order at a touch-screen terminal where you are then handed an Enchanted Rose (Or use your MagicBand). After choosing your seats from one of 3 breathtaking dining rooms, Mrs.Potts will magically located your table and send the food right out to you from start to finish.
  • Free Refills. The drink options are self service during Quick Service hours allowing you to refill that drink before you head out back out to the parks!
  • Quick Service is just that – really quick! This allows you to enjoy your lunch but for not quite as long so you can get back to the Parks, shows and rides quicker.

Cons:

  • Waiting outside in the sun for a table. Wait-time is usually 30 minutes to an hour for a table and you’re standing mostly outside in the heat.
  • Beast is not available for Meet-and-Greet opportunity during Lunch hours.
  • Less food selection on the Quick Service Menu. Many of the same items just less to select from.
  • Slightly smaller portions. Again many of the same offerings but in a more lunch sized portion.
  • If you’re not careful with selecting your dining time you could miss the 3:00 parade.

Table Service (Dinner) –

Pros:

  • First class service – During Dinner hours the dining experience just feels more magical and the Cast Members can really take the time out to cater directly to you and your table.
  • Meet the Beast! This is a rare character experience during Dinner hours only and exclusive to Guests dining at BOG. You can take photos only though, no autographs please.
  • You may catch a rare glimpse of Belle herself waltzing around the dance floor with her Enchanted Prince while you dine.
  • Dinner offers slightly larger food portions and a larger Menu Selection compared to Lunch Menu.
  • Taking time out to enjoy the scenery. Though a table service during dinner may take a little more time than a Quick Service meal, taking time to relax and enjoy is what a vacation is all about.
  • This Table Service Location only requires 1 Table Service Credit Per Person, Per Meal when using the Disney Dining Plan.

Cons:

  • ADR Can be hard if not impossible to get!
  • Food is can be more pricey during Dinner Service and only a slightly larger portion.
  • If you’re not careful with your Dinner Reservation times, you could miss a parade or the fireworks.
  • Table Service can take a little longer than a Quick Service cutting into ride times if this is a priority.
  • Walking up to try your luck for a seat is probably not going to happen.

Before making your select between the two dining experience, I do encourage you to compare menu selections before deciding on particular dining opportunity. For Lunch Menu click HERE and for Dinner Menu click HERE.

Cupcakes Available at Be Our Guest

Both BOG Lunch and Dinner options offer their share of perks and allow you to dine like royalty in a breathtaking storybook castle that offers ‘a Culinary Cabaret’ of French inspired dishes from start to finish. Equally both Lunch and Dinner options offer dining experiences that will allow you an opportunity to explore the uniquely themed rooms for a quick photo or even a glimpse of the Enchanted Rose itself. (Just don’t let the Beast catch you!) Both dining experiences offer an enchanting meal and difficult to get reservations/fasspass+ but each well worth every effort. Who would pass up the chance to experience a tale as old as time as you fall in love with this unique and stunning dining experience you won’t soon forget!

Don’t forget to save room for dessert! – Yes ‘Try The Grey Stuff’ it IS delicious but the cupcakes and cream puffs are no joke either!

This year for an extra special experience Be Our Guest offers dining opportunities on both Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Availability is limited. Dining events are subject to change or cancellation without notice.

Have you had the opportunity to eat at Be Our Guest? If so what was your favorite dish? Would you do it again? Leave us a comment below we love to hear from you!

Tinker

The world’s most beloved fairy is offering runners a new adventure during the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland Resort in 2015.

The inaugural Pixie Dust Challenge, designed for runners with a pinch of Tinker Bell’s own sense of adventure, gives runners the thrill of running the Tinker Bell 10K and the Tinker Bell Half Marathon. Runners who complete the challenge will receive a specially-designed, fairy-themed medal.

Registration for the Pixie Dust Challenge and all other events for the May 7-10 race weekend begins Tuesday, August 12 at 12 pm EST/9 am PST at www.rundisney.com. The event is expected to sell out quickly. Earlier this year, the Tinker Bell Half Marathon sold out in less than two days after it opened for general registration. More than 30,000 runners took part in the women-focused weekend of events centered on health, fitness and active lifestyles.

In 2015, the race weekend will again be anchored by the 13.1-mile half marathon through Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park and the streets of Anaheim. The half marathon course will include music, entertainment and Disney characters at various junctures as well as runners in colorful costumes.

The race weekend also features fun for the whole family, including the Never Land 5K on Friday, May 8, and the runDisney Kids Races on Saturday, May 9. Additional elements include:

  • There will be a runDisney Health and Fitness Expo Thursday through Saturday (May 7-9) showcasing the latest running merchandise, as well as guest speakers – all geared toward women. The expo is free and open to the public.
  • Runners and their families can also attend the Pasta in the Park Party inside Disney California Adventure Park to “carb up” for the next morning’s races.  Families and friends can enjoy ChEAR Squad amenities to help them cheer on the runners.
  • Any participant who completes both the Disney Princess Half Marathon in February and the Tinker Bell Half Marathon in May will earn a special pink version of the runDisney Coast to Coast Race Challenge Medal. The coveted medal features the likeness of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse with a pink overlay and lanyard.

The Tinker Bell Half Marathon weekend is one of four runDisney race weekends scheduled for 2015 at the Disneyland Resort, doubling the number of races held in 2013.

The Sign You’ve Been Waiting For… Dole whips coming to Aulani

dolewhiphawaii

I know you’ve been waiting for a sign telling you to visit Aulani, am I right? Well it’s here. Disney’s Aulani will be adding Dole Whips to the other offerings available at The Lava Shack! What more are you wanting in your Hawaiian Vacation Getaway? All that Aulani has to offer, and now Dole Whips too! It’s pretty close to Utopia in my book…

The Cult Favorite will be available at the Poolside Shop and will be Self-Serve! How high can you fill your cup? Get all your beach and pool needs plus a Dole Whip…

I have been writing about Aulani for awhile now. Showing you all about Aunty’s Beach House, the ocean, snorkeling reef, swimming with the sting-rays and more. I’m willing to wager that for some of you, the final piece to making the commitment to Aulani comes in the form of a Dole Whip…

The big question we should all ask is why in the world did it take this long? The Dole Pineapple Plantation is literally just a short drive up to the North Shore from Aulani. It’s hard to believe it’s a new addition.

With all that said, there is now simply no reasons left not to visit Hawaii. There are ways to spend your time on the islands so that you can enjoy the best of Aulani and the best of the Hawaiian Islands in a fun-filled adventure that can be less expensive than you imagine. Just let us know and we’ll get you some new pricing information!

I know you keep reading these articles and thinking, gosh I want to go there so bad. Someday I’ll visit Hawaii and Aulani. I can easily put together different room options and show you how affordable a trip to Aulani and Hawaii can be. Nothing to lose and so much to gain when you take the time to look at visiting the Worlds Best Top Family Hotel in the United States!

Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is home to a great character breakfast on Saturday mornings called “Goofy’s Beachfront Breakfast”.

Recently we took a road trip up to Vero Beach, FL to check out this little, hidden, character gem. The resort it’s self is absolutely amazing, and I was pleasantly surprised to find Walt Disney World quality magic within Shutters. The restaurant is themed in nautical fare, and is filled with seaside charm. The breakfast is a very modest price of only $16.99 in the summer months, and varies slightly depending on the season.

Goofy's Beachfront Breakfast menu board.
Goofy’s Beachfront Breakfast menu board.

Donald and Goofy are the spotlights of this meal, and are dressed to the nines in beach gear. Donald sports a red Hawaiian shirt and white skimmer hat, while Goofy rocks an orange Hawaiian button down shirt, with swim trunks, and a baseball cap. The character interaction was wonderful, the characters took their time to take lots of pictures with each guest, and were even very patient with our large party. You even get an adorable themed autograph sheet that the Character Handlers make sure to get autographed by the characters before they leave your table.

You can’t have a character meal without food, and there was LOTS of food! The meal is served family style, with platters full of generous offerings of breakfast favorites. When you are seated the first thing you will notice are the cutest Mickey Mouse shaped plates. Your server then comes around to each guest and takes their drink order. There’s not as many options as the usual Character meals at the parks, but there’s still something for everyone. They had soda, coffee, tea, orange juice, apple juice, or pineapple juice to choose from. The drinks are served with paper straws, which I loved since the resort is home to many sea turtle nesting grounds. You start out with a fruit platter and some mini pastries, we were served cinnamon rolls, cheese bear claws, and fruit filled bear claws. My personal favorite was the cheese bear claws. They were very fresh and were a great addition while waiting for the main feast to arrive. The main course is a heaping platter filled with fluffy eggs, crisp bacon, juicy sausages, potato wedges, and the crown jewel Mickey Waffles. Everything was hot and perfectly cooked. You could get refills of as many things as you wanted, and our table sure kept the Mickey Waffles coming! The breakfast was very similar in taste, and style to Ohana’s Best Friends breakfast at the Polynesian Resort of Walt Disney World.

The Main Course!
The Main Course!

This was an incredible experience, especially when not wanting to brave the mid summer crowds of Walt Disney World, but still wanting to give my family a taste of Disney Magic. We did have to wait a bit after our reservation, however we did have a rather large party so I’m sure for a regular party it wouldn’t be bad. They did have a great waiting area for kids that had mini wicker chairs, and Mickey Cartoons playing continuously. I had heard before going that service was on the slower side, and I regret that I must agree. It seems to be a much more laid back place than the usual hustle and bustle of Walt Disney World though. I recommend every one checking out Shutter’s Character meals, during the summer months they also offer a Pirate Dinner on Monday nights. Have you been, what was your opinion of Shutters?

Marvel’s latest movie, Guardians of the Galaxy was by far my favorite Marvel movie to date. The media preview was held at The Walt Disney Studios In 3D.

Guardians of the Galaxy starts out with main character Peter Quill as a young boy of 9, visiting his ill mother at the hospital. Peter is your typical kid complete with backpack and walkman, who after seeing his mom die runs out from the hospital room and is abducted by an alien, Yondu, who adopts and raises him as a son.

Fast forward to the future and Quill is now a grown man who is part of Yondu’s group of Ravagers (a group of interstellar thieves who steal their way around the galaxy). Peter has been assigned the job of finding a mysterious orb.  After obtaining the orb, Peter realizes there is more to the orb than just a collector’s piece and so begins an intergalactic adventure.

The movie’ s villains are many starting with the sociopathic Ronan who has joined forces with Thanos. The agreement is for Ronan to retrieve the mysterious orb and in exchange Thanos will help Ronan destroy Xandar. Once Ronan and Thanos finds out that Peter has the orb they sends in Thanos personal assassin, Gamora to take care of Peter and retrieve the orb.

This leads to some incredible fight scenes between the “good and bad” guys and gals. During a fight scene between Peter and Gamora, and Bounty hunter Rocket and his teammate Groot the group wind up arrested. In jail, they join forces with Drax who is out for revenge against Ronan who killed his family. Together this group fights against the evil powers to save the galaxy and secure the orb so the powers it contains will not be used by the wrong groups.

Full of incredible special effects, great music and hilarious moments to counterbalance the evil, Guardians of the Galaxy is the going to be a favorite of Marvel fans young and old. In theaters beginning August 1, 2014.

Bill Murray has joined the cast of Disney’s “The Jungle Book” as the voice of Baloo.

Disney recently announced that Academy Award winner Christopher Walken will play King Louie while Giancarlo Esposito will play Akela, and the previously confirmed cast includes Academy Award winners Ben Kingsley and Lupita Nyong’o as Bagheera and Raksha, respectively; Golden Globe winner Idris Elba as Shere Khan; Scarlett Johansson as Kaa; and newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli.

Disney’s newest short ‘FEAST” will be premiering with Big Hero 6.  I had the chance to preview ‘FEAST” during the media event for BIG HERO 6 and fell in love with Winston the second he came on screen.  “FEAST” is the story of a Boston Terrier named WINSTON, who loves to eat.  Alongside his owner, WINSTON shares their meals and life as seen through his eyes.    WINSTON is an excitable little dog that will win the hearts of the viewers.   Directed by Patrick Osborne, FEAST made me want to adopt a puppy and take it to lunch.    Don’t miss FEAST and BIG HERO 6  in theatres, November 7, 2014.
