MARVEL’S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Costume Featurettes

Guardians
Guardians

gotg

Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY has just released two featurettes that give us an insight into the costumes used in the movie.   Guardians of the Galaxy, the story of Peter Quill and a gang of misfits who join together to save the universe required a special team of experts to give the movie a one of a kind look.  For me, the costumes and designs along with the music were key to the movie’s appeal.   From Gamora’s outfits to Star Lord’s mask, every costume was perfectly matched to enable the audience to see and identify each character’s unique personality.

Check out the clips below and don’t miss GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY in theatres today.

2014 Epcot Food & Wine Festival Gluten Free Options

Epcot Food and Wine Chase
Epcot Food and Wine Chase

This year’s Epcot International Food & Wine Festival marks the addition of a new feature on the marketplace passports available to guests visiting the park during the festival — gluten free menu item listings. In the past, Disney has released a gluten free map listing a few of the gluten free offerings for the Food & Wine Festival but this year will have a full listing of options for guests to choose from.

Epcot food and Wine chase

Disney began noting gluten free booth offerings on the marketplace passports during the 2014 Flower & Garden Festival, and it was hugely popular. By including a list of gluten free offerings, it makes it much easier for those guests who are gluten free to find out which items might be best to consume during the festival. However, guests should always consult with Disney cast members about ingredients (as menu items can change before the festival begins) and cross-contamination procedures. The marketplace booths are very small, and while most of the food is prepared in catering kitchens, items can come into cross-contact with items containing gluten.

Epcot food and wine

My favorite part of this new collection however, is the vanity mirror. At first it looks like a normal hand mirror with elegant designs and accents, but under the mirror lies a folding handle that allows it to prop itself up on any flat surface. Not only will this be a fabulous accessory at home, it will also make doing your make up while traveling not just easier, but also more stylish!

Well, the rumors are taking to the high seas again, landlubbers.. It seems like there is talk of Disney Cruise Line adding 2 more ships to their grand fleet of beautiful ships. As a matter of fact, this news comes from a couple of DCL Cast Members that in conversation kinda let the info slip. 😉

Now, if the rumors are true, and that’s a big IF… Disney Cruise Line will possibly start working on the plans to add the two new cruise ships possibly sometime within the next couple of years.  The ships will reportedly be moderately sized, larger than the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, but smaller than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy and will have even more enhancements that we’ve come to expect from none other than the “Magic of Disney”.. So keep your eyes and ears open gang that as soon as we get confirmed information, we will bring it straight to you!

What do you think, should Disney Cruise Line add 2 more ships to their already existing fleet?

Based on a true story, sports agent JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm) finds that business has changed and things aren’t going well for his career. In a last ditch effort to save his livelihood he concocts a scheme to find baseball’s next great pitching ace. Hoping to find a young cricket pitcher he can turn into a major league baseball star, JB travels to India to produce a reality show competition called “The Million Dollar Arm.” With the help of cantankerous but eagle-eyed retired baseball scout Ray Poitevint (Alan Arkin), he discovers Dinesh (Madhur Mittal) and Rinku (Suraj Sharma), two young men who have no idea about playing baseball, yet have a knack for throwing a fastball. Hoping to sign them to major league contracts and make a quick buck, JB brings the boys home to America to train. While the Americans are definitely out of their element in India — the boys, who have never left their rural villages — are equally challenged when they come to the States. As the boys learn the finer points of baseball — JB, with the help of his charming friend Brenda (Lake Bell) — learns valuable life lessons about teamwork, commitment and what it means to be a family.

Watch the official trailer:

“Million Dollar Arm” stars Jon Hamm, Suraj Sharma (“Life of Pi”), Madhur Mittal (“Slumdog Millionaire”), Bill Paxton (“Big Love,” “Apollo 13”), Lake Bell (“Boston Legal,” “No Strings Attached”) and Alan Arkin (“Argo,” “Little Miss Sunshine”). It was directed by Craig Gillespie (“Fright Night,” “Lars and the Real Girl”), written by Thomas McCarthy (“Up,” “Win Win”) and produced by Mark Ciardi & Gordon Gray (“The Rookie,” “Invincible,” “Secretariat”) and Joe Roth (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Maleficent”).

Clyde and Seamore Sail Off Into the Sunset

Clyde and Seamore Stadium

Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island is one of the most popular shows at Sea World Orlando and sadly this weekend is the last weekend for the show. The last shows will take place this sunday the 10th of August. If you have never seen the show then you should try and make it out there this weekend and see it before it sails away.

I was fortunate enough to be a part of the special Media Day that Sea World put together for us this past Friday and I got to  meet Clyde, Opie Otter and Slow Poke the Walrus. In addition we got to talk to some key people in the world of Clyde and Seamore and even ask a few questions. I have some audio interviews that will be coming your way later this week so that you can learn a little more about the world of Clyde and Seamore and how much Sea World truly cares about all the work that they do.

I can say that Sea World did a great job hosting the media and I was pleasantly surprised to see Shamu when I got there. Shamu was dressed up in his Pirate Outfit which I had never seen before. You guys are all getting to know me but something you may not know is that I like to collect pictures with characters. I have only been to Sea World in Orlando a few times so the Sea World collection of pictures is small. This is one that I can knock off my of list now.

Teresa and Shamu

After we got our pirate bandanas on and the whole group was there we headed off to play with some Sea lions. It was a treat to get to see the Sea World trainers teaching a young Sea Lion how to do tricks and then getting to see what a more advanced sea lion can do such as a flip.

Clyde Finishes a Flip

After they showed us the piece on how they train them we got some close up time with the animals and their trainers. Here are a few images of the animals involved in the show. You can tell just from these pictures that the animals are very happy and that being a part of this show is just as rewarding for them as it is for us humans that get to watch the show.

After taking some time to talk to the trainers here are a few things I learned that I found to be very helpful in understanding the way thing are done at Sea World.

  • Sea Lions train for 3-5 years before they appear in the shows and even then it may only be for one trick.
  • They used to have Sea Lions that were specifically trained in the tricks for Clyde and some that were trained just for Seamore. However, that has changed and now 8 Sea Lions are trained in both sets of tricks out of the 12 that they have.
  • Insider tip: If they leave the stage with one animal when they come back out it is usually a different animal. This is done so they all can participate
  • Oldest Sea Lion at Sea World Orlando is a 28 year old male California Sea Lion.
  • Opie Otter that is the ambassador for Sea World is 8 years old and he became the ambassador for Sea World when he was 3 months old.
  • Otters all have very different personalities the one in the pictures above was very vocal similar to a vocal cat.
  • The trainer pictured above with Opie Otter has been with him his entire life of 8 years.
  • Slowpoke the Walrus pictured above is a 38 year old female her trainer has been with her for many years I do not recall the exact number but it was at least 10.
  • Walrus’ have diets that change seasonally which can make them very high maintenance but also great fun.

After the meet and greet was over we got to stay and watch the show! This was great for me as I had never seen this version of the Clyde and Seamore show. The only version I have seen is the one that takes place at Sea World San Antonio. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and I am sad to see it go but I am very excited about what is coming in 2015.

Once the show ended it was time for all of us media people to say goodbye to our gracious Sea World hosts and we got to go play in the park. It was a wonderful day and I highly encourage anyone that is in the Orlando area to head on over to Sea World Orlando to catch the last day of Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island. Come back soon for my interviews with Todd the head animal curator for Clyde and Seamore  and with Kenny one of the Sea Lion trainers.

Ahoy Matey! Arrrgh!

Where To Grab A Quick Bite at Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Sandwich Lighthouse
Sandwich Lighthouse

Sandwich Lighthouse

The sheer volume of dining options at Walt Disney World is enough to make my head spin! It takes me hours just to pick out where we will eat our Table service meals, and when, and then there’s making the ADR’s – and by the time that’s done, I am tired! Tired and not ready to think about the OTHER meals we will be needing to eat while at WDW. I don’t always plan specifically which quick service restaurants I’m going to eat at, but I like to have a general idea of what’s around when I am at a Disney Park. So I wanted to give a rundown of where you can grab a quick (but full) meal at the Parks – so here’s a list of what Disney Dining counter service eateries you’ll find in the Magic Kingdom:

Adventureland:

Tortuga Tavern – Serving up lunch and dinner, this restaurant offers a mostly Mexican themed menu – with burritos, taco salad, and beef nachos on the menu. Kids can munch on a quesadilla, and everyone can enjoy the toppings bar where you can spice up your entrée to suit your taste buds

Fantasyland:

Be Our Guest – This new restaurant offers a quick service meal at lunchtime ONLY (dinner is a sit down affair) – and with menu items like a carved turkey sandwich, croquet monsieur, vegetable quiche, and the signature Master’s cupcake (featuring “the Grey Stuff”) – you’ll want to make sure you’re there early (as there’s usually a line!). The décor here is really something – 3 themed dining rooms, with the mysterious “West Wing” and enchanted rose, and the Beast himself is often milling around for photo ops and hugs

Pinocchio Villiage Haus – Offers up lunch and dinner options like assorted flatbread pizzas, salads, and subs – and they have some nice outdoor seating which is perfect for Fantasyland people watching. They offer a side salad and delicious tomato soup too – both available for a dining plan snack credit

Frontierland:

Diamond Horseshoe – This is a “seasonal” dining location – meaning that it is only open during peak times to help feed the crowds! You can grab lunch or dinner here – and they have a mouth-watering menu of items like carved pork brisket and a carved turkey sandwich, and a Portobello mushroom sandwich (for those less carnivorous folks!)

Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn And Café – This Wild West themed location offers the option of express ordering – kiosks where you can place and pay for your order. Cheeseburgers, chicken wraps, taco salad, southwest chicken salad, and chili cheese fries are some of the delicious options here – oh, and they have sweet potato fries and onion rings too! The toppings bar offers additions like peppers, pickles, salsa, mushrooms, cheese, lettuce, and more – and they even have a nacho cheese dispenser! This spot is a fan favorite (and with good reason!)

Libery Square:

Columbia Harbour House – This one always receives a lot of praise – and I have to say I can understand why! The New England themed eatery has a unique menu – with items like battered fish, grilled salmon, fried shrimp, lobster roll, tuna sandwich – are you seeing a theme? Seafood is the name of the game here, and they offer a yummy New England Clam Chowder too – perfect on a rainy day. I have to say – my personal favorite is NOT a seafood item – it’s actually the Lighthouse Sandwich – which is a vegetarian option with hummus and broccoli slaw served on multigrain bread. The upstairs seating here is a great spot to relax and take in the sights too

Main Street USA:

Casey’s Corner – This spot is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offers pretty basic items in the morning – bagels, croissants, Danish, muffings, juice etc – but the lunch and dinner menu is what really stands out here. Chili Cheese dogs, polish sausage, corn dog nuggets, nachos – and toppings too (including nacho cheese sauce, which tastes great on pretty much everything they serve!). It can be hard to grab a seat here – as its always crowded and there’s not that many tables – so if you can, try and eat at a non-peak time so you can fully enjoy the Casey’s experience

Tomorrowland:

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café – Grab a seat near animatronic entertainer Sonny Eclipse as he sings the blues in a futuristic yet retro style (is that even possible? You might be wondering – and trust me, it is – he is a riot!), or grab a seat on the terrace for a great view of the Castle. There are a few different “bays” here – aka section that offer different menu options, so make sure you check them all out before getting in a line! Rotisserie chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs, turkey and veggie sandwiches, and greek salad are all on the menu here. This is another place that offers a toppings bar so you can customize your order – and they offer a nacho cheese dispenser too! (Can you tell that I love nacho cheese?)

Tomorrowland Terrace – You’ll find menus for all three meals here, but be warned – it’s another “seasonal” restaurant, so if the Parks aren’t crowded you may not be able to dine here. Breakfast options include oatmeal, waffles, Danish, and a ham, egg and cheese croissaint, while the lunch and dinner menus feature salads, pasta, and sandwich entrees. There are a couple different dining areas (aka the place is huge!) so you can choose to eat inside OR outside

So the next time hunger hits while you’re touring the Magic Kingdom, you will be all set and know what to expect and where you can grab your favorite foods. Stay tuned here on Chip and Co for more places to grab a quick bite in the World

10329121_274952356010315_8277291803822188229_n Disney has announced that coming this fall Hiro and Baymax from Big Hero 6 will be appearing at Walt Disney World and Disneyland for meet and greets. There is no exact date yet, but Big Hero 6 opens in theaters November 7th, so the meet and greets will most likely start at Disney Parks shortly before then. On the Disney Auditions site it states they are looking for “Hiro look-alikes” so he will most likely be a “Face Character”. This is very exciting news for Marvel fans, as this will be the first appearance of an official Marvel character in Walt Disney World parks. I’m already looking forward to this Meet and Greet, how about you?

“Frozen” Director Jennifer Lee Will Adapt “A Wrinkle in Time” for Disney

Jennifer Lee
Jennifer Lee

Jennifer Lee

Jennifer Lee wrote and help direct “Frozen“, so we know she does amazing work. Her new project is a Disney adaptation of “A Wrinkle in Time”.

She will write the adaptation of the book for a Disney movie. “A Wrinkle in Time” is about children who travel through time and go to strange worlds because they are trying to find their missing dad who happens to be a scientist.

“A Wrinkle in Time” was one of Jennifer Lee’s favorite novels growing up. Disney Execs were impressed with her views on the project, so they gave it the green light. It will emphasize a strong female-driven narrative and approach the science fiction parts of the book.

There is no director as of right now. We do know that Jim Whitaker and Catherine Hand will produce it.

“A Wrinkle in Time” is the first book in L’Engle’s “Time Quartet” series. The series also includes “A Wind in the Door,” “Many Waters,” and “A Swiftly Tilting Planet.”

The original book was published in 1962.
