Top 10 Salty Eats at Disney World

mickeypretzel
mickeypretzel

mickeypretzel

I typically have a sweet tooth, but ocaionally I crave something salty and delicious.  Today we’re taking a look 10 of my favorite salty snacks at Disney World.  Let’s dig in !

#1 Soft Pretzels (Mickey shaped taste EVEN better)

The chewy salt sprinkled exterior encases a delicate soft interior.  There ain’t nothin’ wrong with a delectable soft pretzel (especially when it’s formed in the shape of The Mouse!).  Soft pretzels provide the perfect salty snack, not too over the top with salt, but enough to tap into the savory taste bud and fulfill what you are craving. Dip it in mustard or cheese and you’ve got your self the perfect little sprinkle of salty goodness!

#2 Popcorn

It’s really impossible to walk into any Disney park and not crave popcorn.  The smell of buttery, salty goodness permeates the air and you inevitably will have a hankering for this poppable treat!  Available at literally every corner, this salty treat is affordable and great for sharing.  Wash it down with a cold soda and you’ve found just about the perfect pick me up!

#3 Turkey Legs

There huge, portable, and perfectly savory for a salty treat!  The best place, hands down to nosh on this gigantic leg of poultry is where you feel like a pioneer, Frontierland!  You can’t beat eating with your hands and listening to some music from the old west!  This treat is sure to take you back to a simpler, saltier time! Yee-haw!

#4 Hot Dogs

You can’t beat a good hot dog!  You can find this savory treat throughout Disney World.  You can get them stacked with everything from traditional toppings like ketchup and mustard to flavored with flair like Macaroni and Cheese to Chili  to Barbecue Slaw topped dogs…Disney’s got you covered!

#5 Pizza

Pizza is one of my favorite salty treat. I love a good artisan crust and fine toppings, I love cheap and ordinary, I just love this saucy, cheesy, crusty concoction!  One of my favorite spots to get a quick pizza is found in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Pizza Planet.  While the pizza’s aren’t
“out of this world” in extraordinary ingredients or toppings, they are delicious and will make your tummy smile!  Settle up with a slice (or 2) and satisfy what your mouth desires!

#6 Macaroni and Cheese

There is ALWAYS room for Mac and Cheese…ALWAYS.  I love this classic cult cheese lover’s favorite, especially the kind serve up at Disney World!  You can find it on the menu at many restaurants and it even comes as an entree on some kids meals…okay that might be a bit much (in addition to all these other foods) but it is SO good!

#7 Fries

I love fries and I don’t care who knows it!  I don’t eat them that often so, when I do, I really want them to be all that they can be!  Crispy and tender, salty and delicious! I’m no fry snob, I’ll eat fast food or fine dining.  A little bit of ketchup and mustard (is that weird???)  and I’m set! You can find fries a plenty throughout the parks. Get fancy with your fries or eat straight up!

#8 Corn Dog/ Corn Dog Nuggets

There’s something about corn dogs that makes me think about the fun and fancy free feeling you get at the fair.  Disney definitely trumps just about any fair, so why not enjoy this classic at Disney World.  Portable on a stick or poppable froma cup.

#9 Pickles

Pickles are probably the poster child for salty food lovers!  The crisp, refreshing, salty, crunch will satisfy that craving for salt like none other!  Find them conveniently throughout the parks.  The best way to eat them is cold and crisp and en route to a great ride!

#10 Pork Shank

For the Turkey Leg lovers, there’s another hand held salty delight!  The Pork Shank is like a handheld summer BBQ.  Crispy caramelized edges give way to fall off the bone perfection.  I recommend picking up your pork shank at Gaston’s Tavern.  This piece of meaty goodness will deliver the savory flavors you want!

Okay, so who’s hungry now?  I know I am!  What are your favorite salty eats at Disney World (or any Disney Park).  Share it with us below!  I’d love to add some savory delights to my dining bucket list!

As always, thanks for reading and commenting!

See ya real soon,

Ashley

5 Tips on Keeping your Electronics Charged at the Disney Parks

goofyandmaxphonecharging
goofyandmaxphonecharging

goofyandmaxphonecharging

Picture this is, if you will. You are standing in the hot Florida sun waiting for the Festival of Fantasy Parade to begin, you found the perfect spot for those great pictures and videos you are planning on taking to create that extra special Disney memory. You hear the announcer, the music begins and from a distance you see the first float making it’s way to you.. The excitement is high and all of a sudden…. Low battery – 20% pops up on your screen! Grrr… doesn’t that just make you so angry?! What now? You don’t have a plug near by, so it’s decision time.. You are just going to have to take pictures because video will only suck your battery dry in no time. Ugh! There goes those memories you wanted to capture. Well, I’m here to give you some great tips so that this little scenario doesn’t happen to you. 😉

Charging Stations

Disney Parks now have charging stations where you can plug in to get your batteries charged. Aside from the countless outlets that can be found throughout all the parks, here is a list of locations with stations and/or lockers to keep those smartphones, iPads, tablets, computers, whatever you need working tip top.

Walt Disney World Resort Florida – Magic Kingdom

  • Rapunzel’s Village
  • Space Mountain – (Charging lockers)
  • Pete’s Slide Show
  • Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café – (Charging lockers)

Disneyland California

  • Main Street USA Locker area – (Charging lockers)

Use In-Park Wi-Fi

Switch your phone to airplane mode to conserve the life of your phones battery and still surf the ‘net by connecting to the Wi-Fi offered in the Parks and Resorts. Just don’t forget to switch your phone off airplane mode in order to receive calls!

Take time to Unwind

One of the advantages of staying on Disney property is the ease of going back to the resort to not only recharge those electronic devices, but to recharge yourself. It’s good to take breaks throughout the day to take a nap, refresh yourself, maybe grab a bite to eat and while you’re at it, plug in those devices for a full charge up.

Turn Off Unused Phone Features

Don’t let those games apps, Bluetooth or other features run in the background, all they are doing is sucking the life out of your battery. If you’re not using them, turn them off. They will save precious battery time.

Charge Pack

Last, but not least. I can not tell you how much this tip should definitely be your Top #1 tip for keeping your electronics charged. Get a portable charger. These chargers run on batteries and can hold there charge for multiple devices and charge ups for days, even months. Ranging in size and price, these can be found in any merchandise locations on or off property and they can range anywhere from $10 up to about $60 depends on the charging capabilities. We have one and we never leave home without it. 😉

I hope these helpful tips help you keep your charge on your next Disney trip.

New Disney Dining Stand-By Policy at Be our Guest Restaurant

P1050518
P1050518

bog

According to wdwmagic.com there is a new Disney Dining stand-by policy for Be Our Guest. This restaurant has remained very popular, and I can see why, not only is it beautiful but the food is pretty good too.

Disney is always improving the guests experience so they have come up with a new system to make the wait easier on you. If you get there for lunch and you do not have a FastPass+ reservation you will be given a ticket with a time on it, which is kinda like the old fastpass tickets. You will be asked to return at the time on your ticket. When all of those tickets are passed out then there will be a sign posted saying that no more standby guests will be admitted.

The FasPass+ reservations for lunch at Be Our Guest is currently only for Disney World Resort hotel guests. The new policy means that someone not staying on property can get a ticket.

The table service at dinner will remain the same. We have no idea if this change will stay or not.

What do you think?
