The announcement was made today by Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, at New York Comic-Con. The series will premiere in 2015 on the Marvel Universe programming block on Disney XD.

“The movie and franchise quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. We’re looking forward to working with the great team at Marvel Television to deliver an engaging animated series that fans can enjoy each week,” said Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager, Disney XD.

Press Conference for Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Part 2

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Press Conference for Disney’s newest movie was held in Beverly Hills recently.

The hilarious cast and crew of the movie provided some hilarious moments and insight into the making of Alexander’s bad day.

Steve Carell “Ben”, Jennifer Garner “Kelly”, Ed Oxenbould “Alexander”, Kerris Dorsey “Emily”, Dylan Minnette “Anthony”, Bella Thorne “Celia took their seats and the fun began.

Jennifer Garner started by sharing how the movie showed a basic day at her house and how working with Dick Van Dyke (Chim Chim Cheree) was so exciting.   Steve talked about working with Miguel Arteta on “The Office”  so working with him on this movie was great, because he was able to find a very human quality to the movie and the ensemble was amazing.  “We all felt like a unit and that’s the way I like to work. ”

Jennifer was asked about the difference in this mom role versus the others she has been playing.   Jennifer said she enjoyed this new role lately playing different moms and when asked if there was a bad side to being too positive.  Jennifer replied there was because you need to be able to allow your kids to have a bad day once in a while.   Steve Carell was up next comparing  what it was like to go from working with adults in The Office to working with kids.   His response was “it was the worst”  which had the room laughing and then clarified it by adding that “you can’t read irony in print”  and then went on to say they were all great including the babies and had nothing but love for these special kids.  While the kids were asked what they thought about their movie parents and Ed replied that his “movie parents were better than his real parents.” Kerris shared that as a fan it was great to work with them and be a family.   Bella Thorne was asked What was it like being a part of the Cooper family for Bella?  She replied that for Bella this day is super important (the prom) “and you don’t mess with prom”.  She also talked about the difficulties of playing a mean girl.

The entire cast  talked about preparing for the stunts by using real life experiences.   Kerris said it was her dream to play peter pan and was able to do so in the movie.

Media question for Steve and Jennifer — “How do you as parents lift up your kid’s spirits during a bad day.”  Steve said he and his wife dealt with it by not being overly sensitive and leaving their kids to work through it without parents trying to make it better.  But it’s a tough part holding back trying to make it better and not fix everything.

My favorite question and answer was —  what do you hope families get out of this movie  Jen feels excited to bring a real family movie that teenagers and young kids will like.  Her daughter’s favorite part was the scene with Steve and kangaroo.

Ending the Q&A — we were asked to stay in our seats and were treated to a few minutes of dancing by the crew from Thunder from Down Under who appear in movie.    The G rated dance routine was a treat and made the press conference a memorable one.

This is a family movie that shows that no matter how hard a day, as a family you can make it through anything.  Don’t miss the movie premiere on October 10, 2014.

The Boathouse Restaurant – Coming Soon Disney Springs 2015

The Boathouse Disney Springs
The Boathouse Disney Springs

It’s no secret that the Downtown Disney area is under a complete remodel which is slowly transforming the Downtown Disney area into what is soon to be known as Disney Springs set for completion in 2016. During this construction Disney has released some exciting new information about Disney’s future of “The Landing” (formally known as Pleasure Island) bringing some promising new dining concepts to Disney Springs including the new restaurant location “The Boathouse” which is set for completion in 2015.

The Boathouse Disney Springs

The Boathouse

The Boathouse Restaurant is a new 22,000 sq ft dining experience and is currently set to be one of the very first completed restaurants for the new Disney Springs construction “The Landing” which is a part of Phase 1 of the project set to debut in 2015. This restaurant location is currently much further along in construction than the other 2 upcoming restaurants for Disney Springs so it seems like we may be sampling some of it’s outstanding dishes sooner than we expected.

The BoatHouse is currently an existing restaurant brand operated in Vancouver, BC which offers delicious fresh, local, wild and sustainable seafood items, mouth watering steaks and more. You can checkout their website and menu items here. We estimate that the prices will be a bit more upscale but that families and couples alike will enjoy dining at this new and exciting Disney Springs Restaurant Location.

The Boathouse is located on the river just between Paradso 37 and Raglan Road. With the permit for The Boathouse being signed by Steven Schussler who also brought us other favorites such as, “T-Rex Cafe”, “The Rainforest Cafe” at Downtown Disney, and the “Yak and Yeti” Restaurant located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. This helps us get an idea of what we can expect from this new restaurant location.

Rumor has it that Mr. Schussler has also done extensive research on an amazing invention called the Amphicar.

Amphicars

What is an Amphicar? Looking at the concept art of The Boathouse above, you will notice that there are car-like boats floating outside and all around the restaurant’s breathtaking water view property. These innovative water vehicles seem to closely resemble the 1960’s style car that can travel by both land and sea. Are these vehicles as versatile as the 1960 Amphibious models or will they simply serve as fancy water transportation to get around Disney Springs and such restaurants as The Boathouse? Only time will tell.

Making it’s Disney Debut

Will the Amphicar be making it’s debut before Disney Springs opening? It is rumored that these amazing vehicles will be available to hire by guests even before the Disney Springs construction completion, possibly giving you a “back-stage” view of the construction process and the new exciting sights, sounds and flavors coming to the new Disney Springs in 2015.

What do you think that the new Boathouse Restaurant will bring to ‘the table’ for Disney Springs? Are you excited about the new Amphicar concept? Leave us a message below we love to hear from you.

Have a Magical Day!

Press Conference for Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Part I

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Press Conference for Disney’s newest movie was held in Beverly Hills this past Saturday.

The hilarious cast and crew of the movie came together for some fun.   Starting off the conference were Director Miguel Arteta and Producers, Dan Levine and Lisa Henson along with Screenwriter Rob Lieber.

The Q & A started off with the first question directed at Rob Lieber (Screenplay Writer).  Asked what was it about the book that made it the basis for such a good movie.  Rob Lieber said that Alexander is an underdog and Rob believes “every single kid and adult feels that way at times.”

Next Miguel Arteta was asking if the script changed depending on the casting. Miguel said “this was a movie about learning to appreciate your family.”  Miguel went on to say that getting the actors in a room to get to know each other and giving them the freedom to change some of the script worked.  Miguel’s goal was to have the cast “fall in love with each other”  and they got lucky in that they all clicked.  The fact that both Steve and Jen are great parents and they brought that into the movie also helped.

As a family movie did the cast and crew bring their families?  Every day was family day on the set. Every one would bring in the kids and family throughout the week.

My favorite question was “How was filming the movie?”  Any memorable moments?  Miguel shared how it was a great time filming even though it included everything you could think of – kids, animals, fires, car crashes all the making of chaos but it worked.  Miguel also talked about how casting Ed Oxenbould was great.  Miguel wanted a kid that could portray happiness for other people and have a generous heart.  Ed is a very kind hearted person and the only hard part was getting him to dislike his family at the beginning.

The authenticity of the restaurant was brought up and Miguel said it was not authentic but it was really meant as a way to poke fun at the family. Miguel shared that Steve had a blast filming the part where he is eating the shrimp.

Miguel was asked if there was a bad day during filming, to which he responded that they were very lucky because usually with kids and animals it’s unpredictable, but in this case, it was to a point too good.  Miguel shared how the baby was actually twin girls which shows how great the actresses were in having them pull off the role as a baby boy.  The most difficult scene was the green marker baby scene where for 2 hours the baby just sat there and finally one of the costume dept staff grabbed a marker and started to put it on his face and the baby finally started to copy him.

Next, the press asked Miguel if his inspiration by John Hughes films was based on a specific movie or just all of them.   Miguel said 16 candles was a big inspiration, but all the movies were inspirational because of the warmth and authenticity which was important to Miguel.

Dan Levine talked about how casting Dick Van Dyke made sense because of his relationship with Disney and they were thrilled to be able to have him on board.  Miguel added that Van Dyke is the grandfather and Steve Carell has inherited the trait in that they are both able to be funny in a nice way without the need to be sarcastic.

A young media reporter  asked “What do you think kids will get out of movie?”   Miguel said that “sometimes days are bad but you can get through it with your family who loves you”, which I thought was the perfect response.

Don’t miss Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day in theaters this Friday, October 10th.

What Does This Mean for Guests?

This is bad news if you’re planning an upcoming trip to the Magic Kingdom Theme Park in hopes for “walk-in” seating to Fantasyland’s notorious Be Our Guest Restaurant for a Quick Service Lunch in the Park. If you are planning an upcoming visit to this restaurant without the FastPass+ invitation then you may need a Plan B.

Is this a permanent change?

We cannot say for sure. Disney may only be testing this new FastPass+ only system.

This means as of right now there are no options for standing in line or waiting for an open table, this restaurant is accessible by reservations only. This is yet another great reason to make sure and take advantage of this rare and amazing experience of receiving the Be Our Guest FastPass+ invitation for your upcoming trip.
