Marvel Studios Announces New Movie Titles

20141028_105401

Marvel Studios Announces 11 New Movie Titles with release dates through May 2019.   Marvel Studios held a special event at the El Capitan Theatre today attended by over 1000 media and fans and shared Phase 3 of the Movie line-up.  Surprises included many favorite characters and a few new ones including Black Panther and Captain Marvel all coming to theatres within the next few years.

Listed below are the titles and release dates:

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 originally set for July 2017 has been moved up for release to the beginning of the summer to give fans a chance to enjoy it sooner.

The finale to the announcement included the appearance of Robert Downey Jr (Ironman) and Chris Evans (Capt. America) who introduced the new character – Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman).

Q&A with Kevin Feige, after the announcement was very informative and full of  exciting news.  Mr. Feige shared that this announcement was scheduled for Comic Con but they were not ready and finally decided a special event was the way to go.  Mr. Feige was asked about confirmation for casting for the various characters, specifically Dr. Strange.  Mr. Feige said if they had they would have announced it today, but shared the announcement could come at any time, but would happen before the release of the movie.  Asked about other characters having solo appearances, Mr. Feige shared we will be meeting many in the various movies.  In regards to the Guardian’s series, there are many possibilities for the characters.   Mr. Feige said he loves the rumors that will start to fly with this announcement about who will be cast  for Capt. Marvel but shared the producer and director announcements would come out soon. .   Asked about the Russo brothers and how in an earlier interview, they did not share much, and Mr. Feige said it is very hard but the Russo brothers do a great job in keeping everyone informed but at the same time it’s difficult to stay on task with releasing information.   As for a stand alone Incredible Hulk film for now is not on the table but there is always hope.   Rumors about other projects for Phase 4 and the upcoming characters, who will be in what movie or the plot will have to stay as rumors for now.    Questioned about confirmation that the Russo brothers would direct 2 part Avengers Movie to which Mr. Feige responded that “anything that was not specifically or obviously revealed today is either not true at all or rumor”.   In terms of the Civil War series, the movie is based on what happens next.  The basis is the same, “something happens that is cumulative of all the other movies to date which makes the government question who reports to who”.  “As of now there is no World Security Counsel or SHIELD, Stark is paying for it and Capt. America is running it and things occur that make the government question things”.

With the release of 2 movies for 2016 and 2017, 3 for 2018 and 2019 and 1 already set for 2019, Marvel fans have several years of incredible movies coming our way.   I can’t wait for all the media events coming our way.

I am at Walt Disney World With a Toddler…Now What?

The planning that goes into traveling with a toddler can sometimes rival the planning you have done for the vacation itself. You may hear comments from friends or family that your child is too young for a trip to Walt Disney World or that they will never remember the time you spent there. While they might be right about them not remembering the most important thing is that you will remember.

I want to start by saying when traveling with a toddler you need to go into a trip with very low expectations and be pleasantly surprised. Don’t expect to be able to hop from park to park and see fireworks every single night and everything to be all sunshine and smiles all of the time. The reality is, its not. Your three year old will have a hard time staying up late and getting up early, temper tantrums will happen, and things that you have envisioned doing with your child since you started planning the trip will not. I myself struggled with this on our first Disney vacation, I found myself getting frustrated that my daughter was cranky and so unappreciative of where she was. I then gained some perspective, shes three! From that point on our family truly had the most magical vacation ever! Of all of the things to do and see at every park we definitely found some favorites during that trip!

Some Must dos for under threes in the Parks!

Magic Kingdom – Don’t worry if you do not get to all of the rides during your stay, that just leaves more to explore for next time! I left Princess Fairy Tale Hall out of this list but it is worth a mention if you are catering to young princesses!

  1. Astro Orbiter
  2. The Barnstormer
  3. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
  4. Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  5. Enchanted Tales With Belle
  6. it’s a small world
  7. Jungle Cruise
  8. Mad Tea Party
  9. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
  10. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  11. Mickey’s PhilharMagic
  12. Peter Pan’s Flight
  13. Prince Charming Regal Carousel
  14. Tom Sawyer Island
  15. Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid
  16. Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade
  17. Dream Along with Mickey stage show
  18. Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! Street Party

Disney’s Hollywood Studios – A tradition in our family is visiting Muppet Vision 3D and taking our picture in front of the Miss Piggy fountain! We have over 20 pictures of my family throughout the years and it is fun to see everyone grow! I also recommend the Disney Junior Play and Dine breakfast at Hollywood and Vine where kids can meet Jake, Sofia & Doc Mcstuffins!

  1. Honey, I shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure
  2. Muppet Vision 3D
  3. Toy Story Midway Mania
  4. Beauty & The Best-Live on Stage
  5. Disney Junior-Live on Stage
  6. Voyage of the Little Mermaid

Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Do the safari first thing in the morning it is when the animals are most active. I love Animal Kingdom! There is so much for kids to see and do here, a favorite of ours is the Boneyard a large playground designed to resemble a dinosaur boneyard!

  1. The Boneyard (seriously your kids will play here forever!)
  2. It’s Tough to be a Bug (might be a little scary for some little ones)
  3. Kilimanjaro Safaris
  4. Maharajah Jungle Trek
  5. TriceraTop Spin
  6. Festival of the Lion King
  7. Finding Nemo: The Musical
  8. Flights of Wonder
  9. Wildlife Express Train

Epcot – I won’t lie sometimes it is hard to keep younger ones occupied at Epcot. Just prepare yourself.

  1. The Circle of Life
  2. Gran Fiesta Starring the Three Caballeros
  3. Journey into Imagination with Figment
  4. The Seas with Nemo and Friends
  5. Turtle Talk with Crush
  6. Mission: Space – Did you know there is a play area inside Mission Space? While your older family members are riding the ride you can hang out in this play area with your toddler.

As you can see the park that has the most to offer small children is the Magic Kingdom but there are activities for young ones at all parks. We found that spending our days moving leisurely from one attraction to another and letting our daughter somewhat lead the way worked out best.  Just relax and try to go with the flow as much as possible and I promise your vacation will be every bit as magical as you were hoping it would be!

Frozen

Frozen

The Frozen franchise may seem to be taking over the world, well it has certainly gone international!  Tokyo Disneyland is preparing to bring a full-scale Frozen experience to their park, resort hotel rooms, and train. This spectacular visit with the characters of Arendelle will be available January 13 – March 20, 2015.

Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Fantasy” will be evident in decorations around the park, special menu items at the Crystal Palace, and Palace Pavilion restaurants. Frozen merchandise will be available – cups, plates, and some special items. The Tokyo Disneyland Hotel is decking out some of their rooms with floor-to-ceiling Frozen characters and background scenes. You can begin to reserve these magical rooms November 7, 2014 at 9:00 am. The cost for one Frozen dream night will range from 51,300 – 85,300 yen ($483-$803 U.S. dollars), depending upon number of occupants. A suite will range from 71,900 – 101, 700 yen ($677 – $958 U.S. dollars). And to make the experience complete, one of the trains will be decorated as the “Anna and Elsa Frozen Liner”, where even tickets share the images of Frozen.

Daily encounters at the park will include a parade twice a day, and a nightly show, “Once Upon a Time“, which will feature scenes from the movie. And the Disney Gallery will offer a chance to learn to draw Olaf.

This all sounds like too much fun to be missed!  If you’d like to schedule your trip to Tokyo Disneyland, and stay in a Frozen themed room, then the travel magicians at World of Magic Travel would love to spread some pixie dust and help to make your visit magical!  Contact me – jeri@worldofmagictravel, and I’ll be ready to make those hotel reservations for you in a couple of weeks!  Don’t miss this opportunity!

“Can’t Miss” Shows At Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Muppet

For a lot of people (myself included!) WDW is all about the RIDES – and they have lots of great ones! But I know that not everyone loves rides, or can ride them, but fear not – there is still PLENTY for you non-riders to do at Disney World. You will definitely want to take in some shows, and there are tons to choose from at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park – so I suggest you waste no time in heading to these Can’t Miss Hollywood Studios Shows:

Beauty And The Beast – Check out this “Tale As Old As Time” – a 20 minute stage show that brings the movie to life in a 1,500 seat amphitheater. With the familiar songs and characters from the movie that we all know and love, this is a must see for those of all ages! Fun fact – the live stage show opened on November 22, 1991 – the same day that the animated movie hit theaters for the first time. Note that this is an outdoor show, so as long as the Florida weather cooperates, the show will go on!

Voyage Of The Little Mermaid – You’ll find this unique 17-minute show over in the Animation Courtyard section of Hollywood Studios. It combines puppets, live actors, film clips, and special effects to help re-tell the story of Ariel’s voyage as she longs to become human. The theater is set “underwater” and the bubbles and mist you feel further enhance this feeling of being “Part of Ariel’s World”. If you see a big crowd waiting as you go to queue up for the show, don’t be discouraged! It’s a big theater and can handle a lot of guests, and it’s worth the wait!

The Magic of Disney Animation – head over to Animation Court and you’ll find this overlooked attraction – where you sit in an audience and watch a live artist interact with an animated version of Mushu (the adorably sassy dragon from Mulan) while you learn about character development and animation. It’s a pretty amusing little 10 minute show, and once you exit the theater you enter an area with a ton of interactive drawing and character modules – and you can even head over to “animation academy” where you can learn to draw a Disney character

Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show – This open air theater is home to a show that centers around the filming of a spy thriller, where you watch a director, stunt people, and crew members on a “live” set. You get to watch different stunts be setup and “filmed” – like high speed car chases, watercraft stunts, and more! It’s one of Disney’s largest “stages” – measuring at 177,000 square feet! The audience features bleacher style seating for 5,000 – where basically every seat is a good seat and gives you a great view of the action!

Muppet Vision 3D – You’ll see plenty of slapstick jokes and pranks as the Muppets take the stage to perform for you in 3D! You move from the queue into a big waiting area, where you can grab your glasses and watch the “preshow” on the TV monitors up above as the Muppets scurry around to get ready for their performances, and there’s tons of fun props and decorations to check out in this area too. Then you enter the theater itself for your 13 minute trip through “Muppet Laboratories” – where they have “perfected” the art of 3D vision! The show itself is mostly a movie presented on a big screen, but Sweetums does come through the theater at one point, which is pretty cool, and of course Statler and Waldorf are on hand in the balcony and just *thrilled* to be there as usual!

Hollywood Studios is a Park that celebrates the movies and the joy and art of acting and creating magic for the masses – so it makes sense that they have some of the best shows around! I highly suggest you take some time out from the thrill rides and enjoy some of these family friendly and entertaining attractions!

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 has announced an official release date of July 7th, 2017.     Originally scheduled for July 2015, the 2 year delay may be due to budgetary concerns or the fact that Johnny Depp’s schedule is full between his Black Mass movie and the upcoming Alice in Wonderland 2 Disney project set for release in the summer of 2016.  Producer Jerry Bruckheimer shared they are getting ready to start shooting POTC 5 at the beginning of 2015.

POTC 5 is currently subtitled as Dead Men Tell No Tales and begins filming in Australian as part of a previous agreement between Australian government and the Walt Disney Company.   Directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg confirmed the return of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) but no confirmation as to whether Orlando Bloom will return as Will Turner or Geoffrey Rush as Capt. Barbossa yet.  We could see a whole new cast of pirates or the return of familiar faces, but we will have to wait to find out.

With almost a three year wait for the premiere of POTC 5, audiences will have to wait quite a few months to find out more details about the casting and plot of the next POTC film.  Will it go back to focusing on Will and Elizabeth with Capt. Sparrow in the background or will Sparrow be front and center as in POTC 4, On Stranger Tides?    Looks like we might need to send Anonymouse out to Australia for a bit of spy work.

A Growing List of Changes at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has announced several changes over the past few months.  With these announcements spanning months, it may be hard to remember everything and separate the confirmed from the rumored.  We have put together this comprehensive list of the confirmed changes happenings at DHS and even got the okay from Anonymouse to sprinkle in a few of the rumors!

  • The Sorcerers Hat is being removed.  The hat was first installed in 2001 and became the an icon of the park over the past 13 years.  Disney has said they will be re-imagining the area in front of the Chinese Theater where the hat currently stands.  The area should be clear in early 2015.
  • The Legend of Jack Sparrow, a walk-through attraction which opened in 2012 will be closing on November 6, 2014.  The attraction, which allows guests to take the pirate’s oath and become a member of Jack Sparrow’s crew, is currently located on Sound Stage 4 near Toy Story Midway Mania.
  • The Studio Backlot Tour has closed.  The last day for what was once a major attraction at Hollywood Studios was September 27, 2014.  The Studio Backlot Tour opened in 1989 and saw several major changes during it’s lifetime.  The attraction is being closed to make room for a new development.
  • The American Idol Experience closed August 30, 2014.  The attraction opened in 2009 and there has yet to be confirmation as to what will fill this space.
  • It has been rumored the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular will also be closings its doors soon.  This along with the closing of American Idol Experience has helped fuel the rumors that a major Star Wars overhaul will be happening in that area of Echo Lake.
  • There is also talk of an expansion of Pixar Place and/or the addition of Carsland spurred by the filing of a permit on Soundstage1 known only as Project 3 .  Included in that rumor is the small tidbit that a third track is being added to Toy Story Midway Mania.

I don’t know about you, but that feels like a lot of change in a short time!  The Walt Disney World Resort has yet to confirm any long-term plans for Hollywood Studios but the recent closures, and lack of any real additions short of a few Frozen shows and merchandise areas lead many to believe it’s no longer an “if” the park will be getting new attractions but rather “what” and “when.”

Are you excited about the changes happening at the Studios?  With all the attractions closing, what are you hoping is brought in to replace them?

Finding Dory is coming to theatres on June 17, 2016.

Finding Dory is coming to theatres on June 17, 2016.  The Finding Nemo sequel is all about Dory and this time she is the one that is lost.  Originally announced in 2013 with a release date for November 2015, we now have a longer wait to check out Dory’s adventures under the sea.

The movie title and rumors lead us to believe, Dory is lost at sea, but with her short term memory condition, that could mean anything.  There are also rumors that she is looking for her family.   The movie starts out about a year after finding Nemo and includes the Tank Gang as well as new characters from Dory’s support group.  The new characters include Dory’s adopted sister, a killer whale (only Dory would have a killer whale as an adopted sister).

Ellen DeGeneres is back as the voice of our favorite Pacific regal blue tang and Albert Brooks is Marlin, Nemo’s father.  Diane Keaton will be the voice of Dory’s mother with Eugene Levy voicing Dory’s father. Finding Dory details and changes are still in the works with Disney and Pixar, and I will be on high alert to bring you all the latest and greatest from one of my favorite Disney/Pixar characters.

Maleficent’s Isobelle Molloy Interview!

Isobelle Molloy’s sweetness is almost matched by her knack for landing iconic roles!

When I first got wind of this interview opportunity I was ecstatic! I loved Maleficent and I loved Isobelle’s performance in the film. Taking on quite the iconic role was an easy task for the 14 year old young lady who already had theatre experience playing Matilda in Matilda The Musical in the west end production of the musical. Citing Road Dahl as a favorite of hers growing up it’s easy to see how she landed the role of Matilda as well as young Maleficent. In fact her role as Matilda led to her audition for Maleficent
Isobelle has quite the spirit and enthusiasm about her experiences so far in the craft from her first visit to LA to do CGI recording for the film to working on her first feature film production. She made sure to tell me she feels quite lucky to have had the opportunity to do all that she has already done at such a young age. In fact you can catch her playing Louisa in The Sound of Music in November and after that she plans to continue to focus on school and see where the world takes her. Which in my opinion will be a very good place considering her talent and charm.

One thing that struck me about Isobelle was her description of meeting Angelina Jolie who plays Maleficent in the film and is widely known around the world not only for her humanitarian work but for her acting as well. Isobelle spoke of Angelina with the highest regard yet she says she wasn’t imitated in the least bit by her. Isobelle’s fearlessness is quite amazing. Isobelle even furthered her take on Angelina by taking about the conversations they had about their character and even the contact lenses they both had to wear in the film. A refreshing and I’m sure nice change for Angelina to be treated not as an actress but a human. In fact I think we all can learn a lesson from Isobelle’s words. People are human before anything else.

Furthermore I talked with Isobelle about her favorite scene in the movie which is one of the final scenes between Maleficent and Aurora and one I won’t spoil for those who haven’t seen the movie but I will say it’s quite possibly my favorite scene as well and quite the unexpected delight. Isobelle also enjoyed getting to fly in a harness as the fairy and work with the green screen which she says didn’t make it more difficult to perform at all. She was so enthusiastic about every part of the experience she got to take part in from the beginning to the end of our interview I could tell as she talked with such pride and astonishment about her work. I personally cannot wait to see more from this young lady in the future.
Stay tuned for more Maleficent! (and maybe even another interview soon…)

Maleficent is on Blu-ray and DVD Nov 4th!
