Other Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Play Sets, figures, and Toy Box Expansion Games will be sold separately.

All figures and Power Discs from the 1.0 and 2.0 editions of Disney Infinity will be compatible with Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition in the enhanced Toy Box and, for the first time, Power Discs will be sold in labeled franchise-specific packs of four. The potential to earn the top spot may have been influenced by several events including the Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao boxing event, the NBA playoffs and the Kentucky Derby which were all aired this weekend.    Shown in 4, 276 screens, the US debut, audience included audience demographics –  59% male of which 41% were under 25 years of age.  With the film’s release in Japan and China soon, “Avengers: Age of Ultron has the potential to the $1 billion mark and beyond.”

“Frozen: Early Science” App Series Now Available

Frozen app
Frozen app

Frozen app

Disney Publishing Worldwide has announced,  Frozen: Early Science, a series of apps grounded in early science principles, featuring favorite characters and stories from the award-winning animated film, Frozen. The new series of apps is the latest offering fromDisney Imagicademy, the company’s technology-driven learning initiative for families with children 3 to 8.

Featuring four distinctly different apps, early science concepts are introduced through activities especially designed for children ages 3 to 5 that encourage learning by creating, making and experimenting. The first Frozen: Early Science app is available now on the App Store, and three more Frozen: Early Science apps will launch between now and July.

“We are excited to introduce early learners to another educational concept in a fun and uniquely Disney way,” said Jeff Sellinger, senior vice president, Disney Learning. “TheFrozen: Early Science apps bring together Frozen’s hugely popular story and characters with an early sciences curriculum developed in conjunction with education experts and academics. The goal of Disney Imagicademy has always been to inspire children’s natural curiosity, and what better subject to do that with than science – where discovery and experimentation is at the heart of learning.”

The Frozen: Early Science apps are designed to reward observation, experimentation and deduction, skills that are the building blocks of the scientific process. Each app features environments, themes and beloved characters from the Academy Award-winning film, including Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, Sven and more.

“Disney Imagicademy is such a wonderful initiative and we are thrilled that Frozen characters are featured in the program,” said Peter Del Vecho, producer, Frozen. “The focus on science is a perfect fit with each activity being an extension of the film’s storyline. It feels good to know that fans around the world will be able to practice early science skills with their favorite Frozen friends in a new, authentic and educational experience.”

“All children have the capacity and propensity to explore, observe and discover the world around them,” adds Dr. Stacy Sinclair, adjunct professor at USC’s Rossier School of Education, associate professor at Loyola Marymount, and one of Disney’s collaborators in developing Disney Imagicademy Frozen: Early Science. “These are the basic aspects of understanding early science skills, and as an educator who develops science curriculum for children in kindergarten through twelfth grade, I believe that tools like Frozen: Early Science can help children in their early years develop a lifelong love of science.”

The Disney Imagicademy Frozen: Early Science apps provide children with five total experiences that feature fundamental tools and concepts grounded in an early-sciences curriculum, including:

Phases of Matter and Life Science

· “Cooking Creations” – Children are invited to help Oaken – owner of Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post and Sauna – and Olaf prepare a variety of creative and delicious dishes for Queen Elsa. With more than 35 ingredients and various preparation tools to experiment with, children can follow basic recipes or create their own. Cooking play exposes children to principles of state changes when they add or subtract heat, causing substances to melt, freeze, or evaporate. The game also provides the opportunity to observe water in solid, gas and liquid forms.

· “Reindeer Care” – Children work alongside Kristoff, Anna and Sven as they groom, diagnose, and care for baby reindeer. Role-playing a reindeer care specialist, children learn to see and meet the basic needs of baby reindeer for food, water, hygiene and rest. By treating reindeer ailments and taking care of the reindeer calves, children can make connections to their own health and personal care. Using their powers of observation, children begin to generalize about what it takes to keep animals healthy and happy!

Botany

· “Growing Garden” – With Anna and Olaf’s assistance, children learn about the basic needs of plants by growing their very own customized garden. As they help seeds grow into adult plants, junior gardeners observe how water, sunlight and nutrients affect their plants and how they grow. With patience and care, children can grow a variety of trees, flowers, fruits and vegetables. They can even experiment with creating designer hybrid plants in Olaf’s greenhouse!

Engineering Design

· “Ice Structures” – Children will work with Elsa to build ice bridges and ramps that help an adorable reindeer calf get to a delicious basket of carrots. Through more than 100 levels, children will experiment with balance and structural integrity, use logic and reasoning, and hone their design sensibilities. In addition, they’ll use their creativity to design breathtaking ice lodges for the Arendelle Nature Park!

Ecosystems and Zoology

· “Forest Wilderness” – Children are invited to explore the Arendelle forest with Olaf and Kristoff. As they look for animals in the wilderness, children can observe and interact with a variety of wildlife in their natural habitat. They can also see how the seasons affect the forest environment and, as a result, animal behaviors. Children will delight in making surprising animal discoveries as they make their way through the forest!

All Frozen: Early Science apps connect to the Disney Imagicademy Parents app, giving parents the ability to see what their children are discovering, making and building in the apps. The Parents app was created with the belief that parents and caring adults are an integral part of every child’s learning process. It provides parents a window into their child’s accomplishments digitally and remotely, as well as ideas to extend the principles of observation, experimentation and deduction into the everyday world.

Frozen: Early Science is available now for $6.99, and Disney Imagicademy Parents, available for free, can be downloaded now for iPad and iPhone on the App Store. Additional Frozen: Early Science apps will be available in the App Store by early summer.

For more information on Frozen: Early Science, visit www.DisneyImagicademy.com.

I am self-proclaimed Dining Plan expert!  I have experienced Disney World with every Dining Plan, and even without one at all! There is a lot of planning and organization involved in making the Dining Plan work (and if it seems too complicated, just email me at [email protected] and let me know you need a Travel Specialist, and I will take care of it all for you!)

Costs:

Quick Service Dining

2 quick-service meals
1 snack
1 refillable mug
$41.99 (Anyone 10+) and $16.03 (children 3-9) per night

Basic Dining

1 table-service meal
1 quick-service meal
1 snack
1 refillable mug
$60.04 (Anyone 10+) and $19.23 (children 3-9) per night

Deluxe Dining
3 meals (any combination of table-service and quick-service)
2 snacks
1 refillable mug
$109.53 (Anyone 10+) and  $29.86 (children 3-9) per night

Babies 0-2 years old are free.

  • Facts:
The Disney Dining Plan allows guests to prepay for their meals and snacks before they visit the Walt Disney World Resort. Each plan offers a set number of meal and snack credits that can redeemed in all four of the Disney parks.
  • The credits are stored on the MagicBands, and are deducted upon scanning your band when you pay for your meal. You’ll receive a receipt that will tell you how many dining entitlements you have remaining.
  • The Quick Service Plan offers two counter service meals (walk up and order) and one snack per person per night of your stay. The Basic Dining offers one counter service, one table service (sit down meal at a nice restaurant, including buffets and character meals) and one snack per person per night of your stay. They both offer a resort refillable mug.
  • Since the dining credits don’t have a dollar amount, you can order whatever you want off the menu except alcohol.
  • “Free Dining” is the widely popular Disney Parks promotion that is offered periodically throughout the year. Guests wait very impatiently for Free Dining to come available. It can be a huge money saver, especially if you are planning on purchasing the Disney Dining Plan. FREE DINING IS AVAILABLE NOW FOR  MANY FALL 2015 DATES! Ask me for more info on how to get it for your trip!
  • The refillable mug is for your resort food court only, not the Parks.

Tips:

If you want character meals, then you definitely want the Disney Dining Plan. They are usually buffets and cost $40-$60 per person out-of-pocket.

Look for the purple and white DDP logo at Quick Service locations, outdoor food cards and merchandise locations for eligible snack items. If you have left-over snack credits, use them for snacks to take on the road.

disney-dining-plan

Don’t waste snack credits on water, just ask for free ice water at QS restaurants or order a bottle of water as your drink with a QS meal and take it with you.

Split snacks, and double your snack credits, as they are usually large enough for at least two kids to share.

Take a few Ziploc bags to save left overs for later. We like to save grapes or bananas from the buffets or the other half of the giant cupcakes you get with QS meals.

Table-Service restaurants, character dining and dinner shows book quickly and the restaurant and seating of your choice may be limited or may not be available during your visit. Make reservations online at disneyworld.com/dining or by calling 407-WDW-DINE up to 180 days prior to your visit for the best options. If you are one of my clients, just tell me what restaurants you want and I will take care of it for you….for free!

You can continue using meals/snacks in any order during your package stay until each person has depleted his/her allotted meals/snacks. For example, if you use all your snacks on the first day, that will leave zero snacks for the remainder of your stay. If you stay 6 nights, you will have 6 snack credits. You are not limited to one per day..

Dinner Shows offer family-style dining with live entertainment show
performances throughout the meal, themed to the Resort setting. These shows take 2 Table Service credits per person, along with Cinderella’s Royal Table.

Guests should notate any special dietary requests at the time of booking their dining reservation. Guests may also speak with a chef or manager upon arrival at the restaurant, this includes allergies.

Your meal usage will be tracked electronically. After you dine, your party’s remaining entitlements for the meal type you just enjoyed (Table-Service, Quick-Service or Snack) will be printed on the receipt. You can also contact your Resort Concierge at any time for your meal plan balance.

An additional form of payment is needed if you add a gratuity and
have not provided a credit card at check-in to charge incidentals and
other expenses to your room.

An 18% gratuity will automatically be added to your bill for parties of
six or more.

Always tell your server or cashier if you want to use a Dining Plan Credit or not. If you just want to buy something with cash, like a beverage, be sure to tell them before you scan your MagicBand. It’s more economical to save a snack credit fo something more expensive than a bottle of juice.

Split meals between kids. My kids are both 7 and they can split a Quick Service Meal.  Example: At Pizza Planet you get a personal 7″ pizza, a tossed salad, a fruit, and a giant cupcake for desert. My kids split the entire meal and use the extra Quick Service credit for another day. They also like to split the Breakfast Platter at the Resort.

Going during Free Dining can save a family of four around $1000 per week on the Basic Plan. I highly recommend it. If you can’t go during Free Dining, you can book during a different Disney Promotion. I always monitor my clients reservations for the best deals.

I hope this makes the Disney Dining Plan easier to understand and that you can maximize your DDP usage on your Disney Vacation. If you need an experienced Travel Specialist to walk you through the fun, yet confusing, process of pricing, booking and planning a Disney Vacation, please email me at [email protected] or we can chat on my Facebook Page! Remember, my services are free to you!  Bon Apetit!

Disneyland Resort was Recently Honored with a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Award

Disneyland EPA
Disneyland EPA

Disneyland EPA

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, also known as the EPA, recently recognized the Disneyland Resort with a 2014 Food Recovery Challenge Award. They were recognized for having the nation’s highest percentage increase of food recovery in the theme park category. The Disneyland Resort also earned California’s highest environmental award,  the Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award, for their waste reduction efforts.

These are some creative ways that the Disneyland Resort uses to not waste food:

  • More than 7 million pounds of food scraps diverted from landfill for processing into feed nutrients for animals.
  • More than 100,000 pounds of packaged food donated to local food banks last year.
  • Nearly 60,000 gallons of used cooking oil processed annually into biodiesel used to power the Disneyland Railroad and Mark Twain Riverboat.

The Disneyland Resort has doubled the amount of waste that was not put into landfills. They have a long-term goal of achieving Zero Waste.

That is awesome!
