Top 10 Breakfast Locations at Walt Disney World

P1060876
P1060876

Big Kahuna

You’re at the most magical place on earth – Walt Disney World – and you can’t wait to get to the parks and make your way to your favorite attractions.  Wait, are you forgetting anything?  Sunscreen, Magic Bands, cellphones, emergency snacks, plastic bags for electronics on wet rides, hats, all members of your party….nope, got it all.  Breakfast?  Yes, the most important meal of the day sometimes gets lost in the shuffle when you’re at Disney World. But often, if you make time for it, you can save on cranky attitudes and $$$ later. So, here is my Top 10 list of places to get breakfast.

Cindy

1. Cinderella’s Royal Table – Yes, this can be a tough reservation to get, but if you manage it, there are some perks. First, you’ll be among the first people into Magic Kingdom before opening, and you can get those coveted pictures of Main Street and the castle without all those pesky people in the way. Second, you’ll get to see what’s inside the castle as you make your way to the restaurant. And, of course, you’ll get to meet and take pictures with the princesses. Your meal consists of pastries, and a selection of entrees, from traditional breakfast, to healthy, to fancy foods. Cost is a factor, of course, and this one’s a little pricey, but the experience is worth it.

Stitch at 'Ohana character breakfast

2. Ohana – Located at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Ohana is also a breakfast experience. Food is served “family style” on platters, in baskets, and from large skillets to be shared by all, but Mickey Waffles are served separately. Breads, fruit, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, biscuits, and P.O.G. – Passion Fruit, Orange, Guava juice are served in abundance. Visit and take pictures with Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, and Pluto!

The_Crystal_Palace1

3. Crystal Palace – Back inside the Magic Kingdom, again allowing for crowd-free picture-taking, is the Crystal Palace, with a traditional breakfast buffet. You’ll find pastries, fresh fruit, sausage, bacon, biscuits with sausage gravy, and made-to-order omelets. The Mickey Waffles here are at a special children’s station of the buffet, but that doesn’t mean that adults can’t enjoy them as well. My favorite part of a Crystal Palace breakfast is having a chance to visit with the characters from the Hundred Acre Wood – Pooh, Piglet, and my personal favorite, and yet elusive, character, Eeyore!

norway_breakfast_08_1182

4. Akershus Royal Banquet Hall – Want to meet princesses at your breakfast, but couldn’t secure that reservation at the Castle? Akershus Royal Banquet Hall at Epcot may be your answer. Tucked in the Norway pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase, this location is wonderful!  You aren’t guaranteed to meet Cinderella, but there’s a good chance you’ll meet some of your favorite princesses.  Traditional breakfast offerings like scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and cheesy potatoes are served family style at your table, but you can also visit the cold buffet, where you’ll find fruit, cheeses, yogurt, pastries, and cold, smoked fish. Be sure to try the Lingonberry Muffin!

1900

5. 1900 Park Fare – This Supercalifragilistic Breakfast is served up at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, buffet style. Omelets, eggs, pancakes, bagels, French toast, fresh fruit, pastries, and of course Mickey Waffles are just some of the items available.  Look forward to meeting Mary Poppins, Alice, and the Mad Hatter while you dine in relaxed elegance.

A74_1085

6. Chef Mickey’s – If you’re looking for something a little more upbeat, Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is a great choice. This can also be a difficult-to-get reservation, because this meal includes Mickey and his pals. Breakfast is a buffet including the usual breakfast favorites, eggs, omelets, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, pastries, and yes, Mickey Waffles. A special addition here is the Krispy Kreme donut holes!  If you want breakfast here, you’ll have to be sure to start working on it at 180 days out (or have your travel agent do it!). It’s loud, busy, crowded, fun, though, and you can walk right over to the Magic Kingdom when you’re finished!

Boma4

7. Boma – maybe you’re not interested in a character breakfast, but just want a good meal. While the food is good at all Disney locations, there’s something different and special about Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Fresh fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, hot and cold cereals, a quinoa porridge, pastries and breakfast breads, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, create-your-own omelet station, a carving station, and some special offerings like Bobotie – a kind of crustless quiche, and Pap – which is a little like grits, but fluffier, and usually served with stewed tomatoes. M&M pancakes will delight children of all ages, and you may want to wash everything down with a pot of Kenyan pressed coffee – Yum!

WAVE

8. The Wave…of American Flavors – back at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, but without the characters this time, you can enjoy sustainable foods at The Wave. This is a warm, relaxing experience, with a buffet, but also entrees available. In the cold section of the buffet, you’ll find fruit, hard-boiled eggs, and salmon, as well as pastries and breads. In the hot section is biscuits and gravy, sausage and bacon, eggs, and cheese grits. Breakfast potatoes, Eggs Benedict, sweet potato pancakes, and multi-grain Mickey Waffles are also available. Entrees include omelets, Belgian waffles, French toast, and more. And this is another location that makes it easy and quick to get to the Magic Kingdom.

yachtclub

9. Captain’s Grille – located at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, the Captain’s Grille also offers both a buffet and entrees at breakfast. Pastries, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, breakfast meats, scrambled eggs, bread pudding, fresh fruit, pancakes, French toast, and yes, Mickey Waffles, and even pats of butter imprinted with Mickey Mouse! Entrees include lemon-ricotta hotcakes, dark chocolate waffles, and a petite sirloin and quiche. There’s something here for your picky and your adventurous eaters!

pizzafari

10. Pizzafari – if you’d like more of a quick service option for breakfast, you might want to pop into Pizzafari at Animal Kingdom. This colorful, vibrant restaurant draws you in, and presents you with typical breakfast favorites like cold cereal and bagels, but adds a few interesting options as well. The Ancient Hot Grain Cereal may look like simple oatmeal, but it’s something more, oatmeal, barley, and quinoa with a salted caramel crumble topping. The relatively new Breakfast Croissant is multi-grain, with egg whites, spinach, and a vegetable chutney, held together by melted Provolone cheese. And while the Breakfast Burrito is not all that unusual, it is a good-sized portion of a tortilla filled with eggs, sausage, cheese, peppers, and salsa. And when you’re finished here, you’re already in Animal Kingdom, so you can head directly to the Kilimanjaro Safari – hope you get to see the lions!

Walt Disney World has so many options for eating any meal or snack. Breakfast doesn’t have to be a meal you miss while trying to get to your favorite attraction, though you may have to work diligently to get your most wanted breakfast reservation.

So those are my 10 favorite breakfast spots and experiences. What are yours? Did I miss your favorite?  I’d love to know about another place I can try! Tell me in the comments.

Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 25: Freddy vs. Jason!

Freddy vs Jason
Freddy vs Jason

Freddy vs Jason

Universal Orlando just released the details for one of their haunted houses for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights as well as the ticket prices. So who’s ready for a horror update? I am!

Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 25 new haunted house will feature two of the most feared icons in horror film history, A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger and Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees.

  • One of my favorite horror movies growing up has always been “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and Freddy Krueger would scare me so bad that I never wanted to sleep. Hmmmm wonder if that’s the reason I’m not a big fan of sleeping now?

The vicious feud continues in Freddy vs. Jason! The horror is unleashed as the two battle each other once again. If you’ve seen the movie you might “think” you know who will win, but in true Universal Orlando fashion they have changed things up a bit. The winner of the horror changes as guests pass through Elm Street and into Freddy Krueger’s nightmares. Guests will continue the horror as they visit Camp Crystal Lake and come face-to-face with Jason Voorhees. But who wins this epic battle? No one knows! Who are you routing for? Be careful who you wish to win as you just might see them in your nightmares!

Star Wars Rebels Characters Joins Disney Infinity 3.0

Star Wars

Disney Interactive and Lucasfilm has announced that some of the Star Wars characters from the popular animated TV series Star Wars Rebels are joining Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition. Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, and Zeb Orrelios will be joining other Star Wars, Marvel, Disney and Disney•Pixar characters in Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition’s Toy Box.

Additionally, all characters are unlockable within each Star Wars Play Set.

In an effort to thwart the evil plans of the Galactic Empire, these characters are key players in the fight against the forces of the dark side, providing a unique addition to the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition experience.

KANAN JARRUS

  • Jedi turned rebel fugitive, Kanan Jarrus leads his team in secret operations to help overthrow the Galactic Empire. He defends the innocent with his blaster and Lightsaber™ and guides his Padawan, Ezra, in the ways of the Force™.

EZRA BRIDGER

  • Growing up on his own, Ezra Bridger relied on his street smarts – and subconscious Force abilities – to survive on Lothal. That changed when he met the Ghost crew; Ezra came to believe in their cause, and with the help of Kanan, began to learn the ways of the Jedi, using his custom Lightsaber to undermine the Empire and inspire the rebels.

SABINE WREN

  • Sabine Wren has explosive talents for art and demolitions alike, and she won’t hesitate to use them against the Empire. She can stealthily approach and sabotage the enemy or stand alongside her rebel allies to lend her twin blasters to the cause.

ZEB ORRELIOS

  • Zeb Orrelios is as strong a brawler as he is headstrong. He stands alongside his fellow rebels with his bo-rifle in hand, ready to take on the Imperial forces.

The Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack, rated E10+ by the ESRB, will be available this fall for $64.99 and includes the Star Wars™ Twilight of the Republic Play Set, the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Base, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker character figures, and a web code card that unlocks content for PC and mobile devices.

Star Wars Rebels Season Two premieres Saturday, June 20th (9:00.m. ET/PT) on Disney XD.

A Play Set based on Disney•Pixar’s upcoming film Inside Out and a Marvel Play Set featuring Hulkbuster, Ultron, and other Marvel characters will also be available. Additional Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition figures and Play Sets will be announced in the coming months.

ABC Cancels Their Plans to Outsource More Jobs

ABC TV group
ABC TV group

ABC TV group

Well this is turnaround from some recent news we reported about Disney Outsourcing jobs. Disney, which owns ABC Television Group, recently told about 35 app developers that they would also soon be out of a job. Their jobs were going to a large off shore IT contractor. They were told their last day would be at the end of July. However, this past Thursday that all changed.

On Thursday they were informed that they were still going to have their jobs. They have been preparing for the layoff since they were notified in the end of May. So, of course, they were doing everything they could to prepare for this and trying to find new jobs.

There were no reasons given for Disney’s change of heart. It is suspected that Disney did not like the negative effects from a recent article about them doing this same thing to 250 Disney World park employees. The employees are skeptical about the recent change of heart. Maybe Disney is just waiting until the uproar dies down. I hope not!

What do you think?

If you are a fan of Beauty & the Beast you will remember this story…

When the Beast was a human prince, an old beggar woman came to his castle requesting shelter from the bitter cold and offered to him this very rose. The prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away because of her haggard appearance. She warned him not to judge her based on appearance for true beauty was found within. When he did not heed her warning, she shed her false form, revealing herself to be an astonishingly beautiful enchantress.

She saw there was no love in the prince’s heart, and thus punished him by turning him into a Beast, and all who dwelt within the castle into living objects. She left him the rose, promising him that it would bloom until his 21st year: If he could learn to love and earn in love in return before the last petal fell, the spell would be broken. If he failed, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time.

Ever since, the Beast kept the rose safe in his chambers, the rose serving as his cou. ntdown and a reminder of his selfishness and cruelty.

When the Beast finally turned 20, his countdown truly began as the rose slowly but surely began to wilt. At the end of the film, the Beast appears to reach the deadline of his 21st birthday because the rose completely finishes wilting.

The Rose is symbol of Beauty and the Beast and is one of the most recognizable items from the movie. Now you can own the Disney Beauty And The Beast Rose Glass PendantDisney Finds - Disney Beauty And The Beast Rose Glass Pendant from the movie. I was surprised the cost is only $18.

Top 10: Food & Wine Festival Insider Tips

Food Wine Festival 1 1
Food Wine Festival 1 1

Food-Wine-Festival-1 (1)

I can’t stop talking about Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival! It is seriously the best time of year to go! This year, my family and I are going in late September to enjoy the Festival,  Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and to top it off we got Free Dining!! (You can do this too,  ask me how [email protected])

For most Walt Disney World guests, the Epcot Food & Wine Festival is the booths. They are the little kiosks added throughout World Showcase with snack size portions and beverage tastings available for purchase. Each booth represents a different country or culture, including Scotland, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, South Korea, and Morocco, to name a few of my favorites.

If you have never been to F&W Fest, THIS is the year to go! Here are my Top 10 Tips to enjoy the Festival to the fullest!

1. Make a Game Plan– Find the menu’s on the Disney World Food and Wine Fest site, and pick some booths you really want to try. Develop a plan because lines at booths can be long, and with so many options, you might waste a lot of time reading menus. If you like to be spontaneous, at least decide which direction you will tour the World Showcase. To Canada or Mexico first?

2. Go during the week!- Weekends are much busier than weekdays. I like to go at night, skip dinner and just eat around the World instead. I think it’s easier to stand in line, drink, and tour the World Showcase when the sun goes down. The night life is great at the Fest. I love the look of everything all lit up aorund the World, it’s very romantic and low key.

3. Eat to the Beat! Concerts – The Eat to the Beat concert series is presented nightly at the American Gardens Theater across from the American Adventure in Epcot’s World Showcase.  These concerts are free, so grab a snack and a drink and head over to  America. The concert lineup is  found at the link above.

4. Avoid November 7-9 – The annual runDisney Wine and Dine Half Marathon is being held this weekend, and the Finish Line Party will be at Epcot. This means that unless you are a runner, it’s smart to avoid going to Epcot this weekend at all. The race brings out an extra 20,000 people. If you ARE a runner and registered for the race, please join our Facebook Group HERE!

5. Wear Your Money-  At the entrance to the F&W Fest/World Showcase there is a kiosk dedicated to F&W Souvenirs, wine glasses, t-shirts, etc. They also have wristlet gift cards! Not only are these reloadable, but they are a cute souvenir too! Wearing a gift card during F&W is genius!! Load it up with your desired spending amount, and don’t worry about getting your wallet out or setting your drink down at each stop. Most snacks and drinks are $3-$8 each.

6. Record Your Travels- Pick up a “World Passport” when you enter and have it stamped at each country you visit! You likely won’t remember everywhere you stopped, so keep track of it in your Passport. It also has menus and information in it too. I love my F&W t-shirt that says “Taste Your Way Around the World” and on the back you check off where you ate or drank.

7. Use Snack Credits- If you have the Disney Dining Plan you can use your snack credits at F&W Fest. I hoard my snack credits the rest of my vacation to save them for F&W night! It’s hard, but just tell yourself you could be trying handmade baklava or craft beer, instead of that popcorn! Look for the purple DDP logo at the booths to know where you can use them.

8.. Don’t Stop for Illuminations-  When Illuminations starts, hit up those super busy booths that you couldn’t get to earlier, THEN take your treats to watch the show. I suggest watching it either in the Disney Visa Cardholders spot (if you have your card), by the boat dock, or near Mexico so you can beat the crowds out of the Park after. *Disney Visa Cardholders look for the Chase Lounge where there are free non-alcoholic drinks.

9. Know Your Limit- Don’t get (too) drunk! Eat before AND while you drink, stay hydrated by having water in between each drink, and stop while you’re ahead. Take a break half-way through the World to watch one of the shows in either Canada, America, or China or the Eat to the Beat Concerts, if you need to.

10. Take Treats To-Go-  We love to stop by Werther’s Karamel Kuche in Germany before we go to pick up some handmade caramel to take back to the Resort with us. Stop by your favorite spot and grab something to-go. Or, take that treat with you that you didn’t have room for earlier.

What are some other tips you have for first timers? I’d love to hear them!
