Could a Maleficent 2 be on the Way?

Maleficent

Hiya ladies and gents, boys and girls, fellow Disney addicts! It is your friendly neighborhood gossip columnist. Lots of gossip lately, so I have been a busy little beaver thank to Chippy. I am loving today’s gossip. Why? Because I love Maleficent. How could you not love her? She is so lovable!

Rumors are swirling big time that the screenwriter for Maleficent is currently in talks to write the screenplay for Maleficent 2. There is a catch, isn’t there always? The catch is that she only wants Angelina Jolie to play the role again. That totally makes sense to me because it seems like Angelina was born for that role. Unfortunately Angelina does not have a current deal in place to star in the possible sequel. I hope she does!!

When Angie herself was asked about this possibility she said:

“Possibly,” she told us. “I don’t know. I enjoyed it. I just feel like we did this one thoroughly and I don’t think there’d be another. I feel like this is the one, if I was going to ever do a Disney one, this is the one I wanted to do. And I think we’ve done it well.”

Never say never!

What do you think? I hope she does it, if they make a Maleficent 2!

Tsum Tsum Inside Out

I definitely need all of the emotions from the new Inside Out collection, so I can display my mood on my desk!! Right now Joy is proudly displayed as I squeal over the new characters that have joined the Tsum Tsum Ohana! Yes, I said Ohana! While Stitch has been with our happy Tsum Tsum family from the start, he’s been missing his dear Lilo, and many other’s from the Lilo and Stitch Ohana. Lilo joins the gang wearing her cute red and white Hawaiian dress, and she’s also brought along her hand made dolly Scrump, and the beautifully sassy Angel! I’m sure your stitch Tsum Tsum will be beaming like a white Elvis suit to see his favorite ladies again. Dr. Jumba Jookiba has come along to keep an eye on things too. I think the cutest addition to this collection, is the sad ugly duckling. It represents such a momentous moment in the Lilo and Stitch movie, and his little tear drop just tugs at my heart strings!

The Lilo and Stitch Tsum Tsum collection will be debuting July 7, 2015. I may have heard from a little duckling that Tsum Tsum Tuesday in August will be bringing us a taste of Arabian Nights with a Street Rat, and maybe even a Magical Genie! Stay stack stacked!

5 Attractions That I Hope Never Close at Magic Kingdom

space mountain2
space mountain2

space_mountain2

It seems like every week we are letting you know about a new change coming to Disney. With all the closing, refurbishment, and re-branding announcements, I couldn’t help but think about all my favorite attractions and shows at the Magic Kingdom and how I hope that they never close.

Here are my top 5 attractions that I never want to see leave the park.

Space Mountain: My favorite ride at Magic Kingdom, Space Mountain is all at once thrilling and iconic. A landmark of Tomorrowland, Space Mountain shows us the future of tomorrow as well as the park’s past.

Main Street Trolley Show: I cannot hurry down Main Street USA when the Main Street Trolley show is playing. The singing (albeit, lip synced), dancing, and costumes always pull me in. I dare you to try and frown while watching this show!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A Pirate’s Life for Me! This ride inspired a cinematic saga, which turned around and re-inspired the ride. Pirates of the Caribbean is a classic attraction that is loved by adults and children alike. Can you imagine if this ride closed?! Can you imagine what it would be like with no Jack Sparrow skulking around? That would be a very sad day for Disney!

Haunted Mansion: Perhaps the most beloved ride of all, the Haunted Mansion is an icon. Sitting atop a hill overlooking Liberty Square, this creepy Mansion has driven its Doom Buggies into the hearts of so many fans. Magic Kingdom without the 999 Happy Haunts would not be the same!

Wishes Fireworks: Ah, Wishes Fireworks. For me, Wishes is the perfect ending to a magical day at Magic Kingdom. I know it’s not everyone’s favorite show, but it is my favorite, hands down! I love the music and I love the message. I’m sure this show will be updated eventually and swapped out for something new, but I hope in vain that it never leaves.

Did I cover your favorites as well? What top 5 Magic Kingdom favorites would you like to see stick around? Let us know in the comments!

In case you missed my series here are my other posts:

Monica is an Alumna of the Disney College Program. When she is not walking down the middle of Main Street USA you can find her wandering the World Showcase, or enjoying a Dole Whip while racing to her favorite attractions. When she is forced to endure life outside of Walt Disney World, you can find her in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she lives and works. You can visit her Disney lifestyle blog here.

Hey there everyone! Your favorite Disney Gossip columnists Anonymouse here with some interesting gossip from Disneyland Paris today.  I know many of you love your selfie sticks and some of you hate them. Depending on where you are on that spectrum this might be good or bad news for you.

A little birdie told me that Disneyland Paris has banned selfie sticks. Not just on the rides like Walt Disney World and Disneyland. They may be banning the glorious selfie stick in the entire park all together! It seems like this no selfie stick thing is catching on because there are a few other places around the world that have also banned the selfie stick.

Let us remember that nothing is official until Disney says so!

What do you think? Are you a fan of the selfie stick? Is Disney taking it too far banning them in the parks? Let me know in the comment box below.

Dreamfinder and Figment Will Return in New Disney Kingdoms Comic Series Figment 2 this Fall

Figment

We have some great news! Dreamfinder and Figment will return this fall in an all-new Disney Kingdoms comic series titled “FIGMENT 2.” This new series is a sequel to the fan-favorite, sell-out Figment miniseries based on the beloved Journey Into Imagination attraction in Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort.

Figment

“Figment 2” will be written by Jim Zub and penciled by Ramon Bachs. The Disney Kingdoms team shared with us the cover artwork created by John Tyler Christopher. He also drew an incredible action figure variant cover for this first issue.

Figment 2 picks up right where the previous mini-series left off. Figment and Dreamfinder are now in the modern world and they’re going to discover that a lot of things have changed in their absence. The legacy of dreams and imagination they left behind more than a hundred years ago is greater than they ever expected, but they’re going to find it hard to live up to their own legend. Couple that with a young dreamer inspired by the Academy Scientifica-Lucidus and a dark threat from an unexpected source and we’ve got all the ingredients for high adventure.”

You can read the full interview here.

If you missed the first miniseries, Disney Kingdoms recently released a hardbound book of all five-issues. You can pick up a copy at Once Upon a Toy in Downtown Disney Marketplace at Walt Disney World Resort.

Look for “FIGMENT 2” coming to Disney Parks this fall.

10 Years of Percy Jackson and the Olympians!

PercyPackBADGE

PercyPackBANNER

This year Percy Jackson and the Olympians celebrates its 10th anniversary! We here at Chip & Co are proud to announce our partnership with Disney Hyperion to bring you guys the best and most exclusive Percy content in celebration of this occasion! Be on the lookout for fun giveaways and articles throughout the next few months and of course tons of Percy Jackson themed fun!

If you don’t know Percy this summer is a perfect time to sit down and read the instant classic series that’s also a major motion picture!

ABOUT THE SERIES

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse–Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends–one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena–Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.

If you’re like me you’ve read these novels before and fell in love with them instantly! One of my favorite things about this series is its ability to delve into the world of Greek mythology and keep you hooked in from learning about the classic Greek Gods like Athena (my personal favorite) Zeus and even the God of the Sea Poseidon. These myths take full form in this series exploring a world where myth and reality become one and the whole world must deal with the repercussions. The author Rick Riordan easily creates one of the most enchanting worlds in these novels pulling you in and spitting you out right when you think you’ve got things figured out.

My question for you guys is who’s your favorite Greek God and why? Let us know on social media and remember to #ReadRiordan to join the conversation and celebrate the 10th anniversary of Percy Jackson and the Olympians!

Another piece of great news for you Percy fans there’s a special deal going on this week only!

June 15 – June 22
The perfect moment to get your friends hooked on the series you love! On June 15th, The Lightning Thief will be discounted to $.99 across all eBook accounts for one full week (6/15-6/22). Figurines

A Disney find is always an exciting event, but an artistic Disney find is even more exciting! With Jim Shore Traditions, Britto and Enesco figures, it’s hard to disappoint!

Collectible figurines designed by renowned artists are a great way to express your Disney Side! What better way to show off pride for your favorite characters than with gorgeous detailed sculptures and figures. There are many designers and some stand out Disney Collectibles Designers are Jim, Shore, Enesco, and Britto, and also available from Entertainment Earth, which always has pre-orders for fabulous new creations.

I’ve long been a fan of Jim Shore, with his attention to not only detail, but bringing to life a story within a figurine. Jim Shore Tradition’s figurines come to life with bright colors, and intricate carvings detailing a story within a statement piece.

Enesco’s Couture de Force statues evoke the powerful emotions of many Disney leading ladies, and their Showcase collection captures the essence of not just Disney heroes, but many of their villains as well!  They have some of the most stunning Elsa figures I’ve ever seen!

Couture de Force Elsa

Anything Britto is an instantly recognizable piece of art! Britto uses bright colors, and bold patterns mixed together to recreate Disney Characters in a unique and modern pop way. There’s just something about a Britto figure that makes me smile, and feel positive vibes! I’m absolutely in love with the upcoming Britto 75th anniversary Pinocchio figurine coming out this fall. The new Pinocchio Figurine is a whimsical mix of stripes and polka dots creating Pinocchio and his trusty guide Jiminy Cricket.

Should I bring my baby to Disney World?

JohnMickey
JohnMickey

JohnMickey

Walt Disney had the vision that those of all ages could come to the Disney Parks and enjoy themselves – but does that vision include newborns and infants? I just had a baby in October, and I have gotten mixed reviews – so I decided to do some research on the question I am sure many of you have asked yourselves when planning your next family trip: “Should I bring my baby to Disney World?”

The Pros: Bringing a little one can have its benefits – read on for some things to consider:

Making Memories: I don’t know about you but I am BIG on family outings, and I especially love documenting things with (many, many) photos – I love looking back and being able to say “look how much we did as a family!” – and taking trips is a big part of this. Spending time as a family is high on many people’s list of priorities, and no matter how old your kids are, its important to establish that family bond and make plenty of memories – and what better way to make them than at Walt Disney World?

They’re Free! Children under the age of 3 receive free entry to the Disney Parks, which saves a LOT of money on ticket costs. And if you plan to fly to Disney, any child under 2 can travel free of charge on your lap (although the Federal Aviation Administration does recommend that you purchase a seat for them and bring along your car seat for traveling)

Bringing The Whole Family = Extra Helping Hands – If you’re thinking of traveling to Disney with your baby, you might want to consider making it a whole big family affair – asking your parents/in-laws or other childless relatives to join you would not only be a great experience for the whole family, but it would also mean you would have more help with the baby, and it’s even possible that you could score some alone time with your spouse for a nice adult date night

The Cons: Because it’s always important to look at both sides of any argument…

Rides? Not So Much – There are some rides that you can take an infant on, but the vast majority are not baby friendly. Most shows allow little ones, but the effects or loud noises could scare them – so you might end up missing a lot while you soothe a crying baby outside the theater

Forget About Sticking To A Schedule – Most parents I know have at least some kind of routine or schedule when it comes to feeding, nap time and playtime for their little ones – and going away on vacation can really throw that off, especially at a place like Disney where there is so much to do and see! Babies might resist napping or eating because they want to take in the World around them – and who can blame them? Add in the fact that getting back to your WDW Resort can take up to an hour with wait and travel times for buses/boats, and you might as well throw your carefully planned nap time right out the window

Packing Is Like Prepping For Armageddon – Those of you with kids know this to be true – that babies need a LOT of stuff, and gone are the days of a single carry on suitcase for a trip once you have kids! From favorite toys to clothes for all possible weather situations to a portable crib and the stroller and the car seat and diapers and formula…I could go on (but I won’t!). Bottom line is – even if you’re headed to Disney where they welcome and accommodate families of all sizes and ages, you’ll still be dragging along a lot of stuff wherever you go (possibly including a sleepy little one who only wants to nap in mom or dad’s arms!)

They won’t remember it – I know, I know – it sounds harsh, but it’s also realistic. Most kids under 3 will have no long-lasting memories of their early trips to Walt Disney World. Sure, they can look at the pictures and listen to you tell the stories, but there’s just no real likelihood that they will carry those memories with them into adulthood – sad but true

I plan to wait until my son is 4 before I bring him to Disney – I want to make sure he is old enough to walk on his own (no strollers!), and I remember my first trip to Disney at 4 years old, so I hope that he will be able to make some lasting memories of his first trip too! But ultimately, the decision is yours on whether or not you bring your baby to Disney – there are a lot of factors to consider, and I hope this list helps point you in the right direction!
