New Mary Poppins Live Action Musical In Development!

The opportunity to bring Disney Addicts news and updates is always an exciting one for me.   Today however, I am jumping up and down and shouting the news from the rooftops as I step in time with joy!

My all time favorite Disney Movie, Mary Poppins is back!  Well not exactly back, Walt Disney Studios is taking it one step further by making a new original live-action musical.

Rob Marshall is directing and John DeLuca and Marc Platt are producing the new film which takes place approximately 20 years after the original Mary Poppins.   Set in Depression-Era London, it will take us on the next adventuress of Mary Poppins and the Banks family as told in P.L. Travers’ novels.

The original one and only, Mary Poppins, starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke was based on the first book but with 7 additional books in the Poppins series, there is plenty of adventure and story to tell.

Of course, no Disney film, much less one about Mary Poppins would be complete without the magic of music and this new film will bring us the duo of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman who will be composing original songs and a new score.  David Magee is joining the crew as screenplay writer.

Disney Studios and Marshall are working with the Travers estate and have full support from co-composer, Richard Sherman who along with his brother, the late Robert Sherman created the magical music in the original Mary Poppins including award winning songs like supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and Mr. Disney’s personal favorite – Feed the Birds.

Under the award winning direction of Mr. Marshall and crew and the recent success of Saving Mr. Banks in 2013, the new Mary Poppins will be a huge hit with audiences young and old.

Stay tuned for news about cast and production dates by visiting www.chipandco.com.   And keep an eye for your favorite Entertainment Writer as I dance and jump from roof top to roof top with excitement.

Top 10 Reasons to Take a Fall Disney Vacation to Walt Disney World

DisneyMagicalMomentsM

Wondering when to take your next Walt Disney World Vacation? I recommend going in the Fall! This is my favorite time of year in Florida, and the Parks have so much to offer from September to November. Extend your summer vacation with a Disney trip! Here are the top 10 reasons you should take a Fall Disney World vacation:

10. Nice weather – The autumn temps are still hot enough to go to the water parks such as Typhoon Lagoon, but not so hot that you are uncomfortable. In October we are swimming at mid-day and have long sleeves on by 9pm. It’s the perfect, comfortable combination.

9. Shorter Lines- Most kids are back in school and the summer crowds fade away. The lines, especially at night, are quite short. Check the crowd calendars and Park hours each day to see the lowest predicted crowds are. Extra Magic Hours bring in more people, as does MNSSHP at Magic Kingdom on Party nights. Avoid MK on those dates and get Fastpasses for the popular rides.

8. Pumpkin Spice Latte’s...and many other fall treats, can be found around WDW. From Starbucks’ delicious lattes to the Main Street Confectionary’s Jack-o-latern Mickey cookies, you can indulge in some adorable and delicious fall seasonal desserts and beverages!

7. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party-  or “MNSSHP” is a spooktacular event that happens at Magic Kingdom starting late in September. The whole family can dress up and trick-or-treat around the Park, watch the Halloween Fireworks show, Parade, and see their favorite characters in costume! This is a separate ticketed event and happens on select nights. This is the only time adults can wear cosutmes into the Parks.

6. Discounts Galore! This fall several discounts were available for guests. Free Dining, which was announed in April (has ended for 2015) was one of the most anticipated promos this year. It was offered throughout the fall into December. People are booking with me NOW, over a year in advance, for anticipation of 2016’s Free Dining. It’s never too early to plan! The Room Discount can save you up to 35% off this fall on the room portion of your package. This annual promo always helps save people a lot of money! There are still rooms available under this offer. Other promotions included Annual Passholder, Florida Resident, and Military discounts. For more info on how to save money on your vacation, email me at [email protected]

5. Night of Joy- Every September the Night of Joy lights up the Magic Kingdom and sold out this year on September 11 & 12. This Christian music concert brings in some great bands and singers such as Toby Mac and Colton Dixon.

4. Wine & Dine- The tastiest Half Marathon in the World goes through the night starting at 10pm on November 7, ending in Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival at the World Showcase. There are races for all ages from the Diaper Dash for infants to the Jungle Jingle 5k through Animal Kingdom. Registration happens in April, so be on the look out for more info from runDisney.com and the YMBADA Race Team Facebook page if you want to participate next year. I can also help you book your room package at discounted rates! Just email me at [email protected]

3. Villains- The new Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular promises to be awesome this year! This stage show featuring the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus will join other Villains on stage for an exclusive MNSSHP show. I love to meet the villains and special characters that are only out at Halloween time, such as Sally and Jack Skellington.

2. Availability- I find it easier to get rooms for my clients that want a specific resort or room type in September since it’s an off-peak season. (January is the other off-peak season that makes it easy to get exactly what you want but the weather is much cooler.) This goes for dining reservations and flights too! More options, at lower prices. I book flights and dining for my clients so they don’t have to worry about those details. I can help you too, just email me!

1.Epcot International Food and Wine Festival- The #1 reason I go to Disney World in the Fall is for this special event! It’s great for the whole family, or for a romantic night out. Star Wars Weekends Could be Just a Memory!

Mickey and MInnie Star Wars Weekends
Mickey and MInnie Star Wars Weekends

Mickey and Minnie Star Wars Weekends

Hiya! I know you know who I am but let me have my moment. Drum roll please!!!!! It is “I” Anonymouse! Ok, now I feel better! On to the gossip of the day. I know there are so many Star Wars fans out there and you love your Star Wars Weekends, but they might be just a distant memory.

Star Wars Weekends started in 97 and have been extremely popular. I have a very reliable source that told me these fun weekends will be no more because of the new Star Wars land additions coming. They might keep some aspects of it but they are figuring that there will be permanent Star Wars attractions so Star Wars Weekends is really not needed anymore.

I also have a little bonus rumor for you. I know I never disappoint right? Don’t answer that! Anyway it seems as thought all those cute cuddly Disney characters dressed in Star Wars stuff will also go bye bye. Along with that might go the meet and greets etc. However, knowing Disney they already have something bigger and better coming!

Have no fear, the force will still be with you! Season of the Force is coming very soon in early 2016. That will bring Hyperspace Mountain at Disneyland and the Star Wars fireworks show at Hollywood Studios. So you can still get your Star Wars fix.

Remember, with any and all gossip, it is just that gossip until Disney says it is a reality!

Anywho, this all the Disney gossip I have for now. For my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at anonymouse@chipandco.com or on my Facebook page

Disney Channel has ordered the family comedy series “Stuck In The Middle,” starring Jenna Ortega (“Jane the Virgin”) as Harley Diaz, an engineering whiz who uses her inventions to navigate life as the middle child in a family of seven kids. Playing her siblings are Ronni Hawk as Rachel, Kayla Maisonet (“Dog With A Blog”) as Georgie, Isaak Presley (“Austin & Ally”) as Grant, Nicolas Bechtel (“General Hospital”) as Danny, Malachi Barton (“Best Friends Whenever”) as Beast and Ariana Greenblatt (“Liv and Maddie“) as Daphne. Production begins this November for a Spring 2016 premiere.

“Stuck In The Middle,” a single-camera family comedy, centers around the Diaz family and is told from the point-of-view of the middle child – Harley. Her overlooked status proves to be both a blessing and a curse as she maneuvers her way through the everyday antics that come with being part of a big family.

Linda Videtti Figueiredo (“Rules of Engagement” and “Last Man Standing”) will serve as Executive Producer/Showrunner. The pilot teleplay was written by Alison Brown (“Dog With A Blog”) & Linda Videtti Figueiredo and story is by Alison Brown.

Top 5 Things To Do Before Your Walt Disney World Trip

Luggage
Luggage

Luggage

Prepping for a family vacation to Walt Disney World involves a lot of organizing and planning, and there’s so much to do that it’s easy to forget things that might be really important to ensuring you have the best time possible. If nothing else, you should make sure you take care of These Top 5 Pre-WDW Trip Must-Do’s:

Scrimp And Save: Disney vacations are not exactly cheap, so make sure you’re saving up wherever you can! Once you book your trip, gather up the kids and make a cute DIY Vacation Fund jar, and make sure you stop by it when you empty the change out of your wallet/pocket/bottom of your purse – over time this will add up, and you can use it to help pay for the trip, or for souvenirs, or whatever you want!

Do Your Research: There are tons of good guidebooks out there, so pick one up and do some reading before your trip. Or, you can use the internet for some research too – but don’t make the mistake of getting caught up in people’s personal experiences and comments – keep it basic and read about where you’re staying, and get an overview of the rides/attractions, and food options available to you (especially important if you have allergies/special dietary concerns!). Do enough research to have a clue, but not so much as to overwhelm yourself

Make Your ADR’s: If you’ve never been to Disney, then you are in for a real culinary awakening (which may seem like a weird thing to say about Theme Park Food, but trust me – its true) – they serve up some of the best food I have ever had. And people are really starting to take notice – which means that every sit down restaurant at WDW is busy pretty much all the time. Luckily, you have the option of making Advance Dining Reservations (or ADR’s) as early as 180 days before your trip, and trust me, you’ll want to make ADR’s for all your sit down meals (especially if you’re looking to do some character meals). So read up on the Disney restaurants and make sure you are making ADR’s for them so you can ensure you’re getting to dine at all the places you want to try on your trip

Pack Smart: Make a list a few weeks before your trip of things to pack so you make sure you have enough time to get the things you may need in advance. On that list, you’ll want to include the following items: broken in sneakers & socks, sunscreen, Ziploc baggies, ponchos, comfortable loose clothing, snacks & a water bottle, and chargers/extra batteries for your various devices – which brings me to my next “must-do”…

Charge It Up: Make sure you not only pack chargers/car chargers/extra batteries for all your various phones/ipods/ipads/laptops/cameras etc, but that you charge all those devices before your trip too. Plane rides/car rides/layovers can all feel even longer if you don’t have anything to keep the kids (and yourself!) occupied. So don’t just bring that spare camera battery – but charge it the night before you leave. Follow this rule with all your various electronics – you’ll be glad you did (trust me!)

I have traveled to WDW many times – which means I have prepared/organized/packed for Disney many times too – take it from me, a little pre-trip planning goes a long way, and if nothing else, make sure you follow these “must-do” pre-trip tips to help ensure your vacation goes smoothly.
