Best FastPass+ Options at Hollywood Studios

Disney Hollywood Studios Archway

It used to take me a least a full day to cover all there was to see at Hollywood Studios, but now, with all the recent closures, this park can definitely be done in one day, or less, depending on what you’re interested in seeing.

Follow these FastPass+ tips and conquer Hollywood Studios like a seasoned Disney pro.

Hollywood Studios

Book It

  • Toy Story Midway Mania!
    • If you want to ride this at all (which you should, because it’s awesome!) then you are definitely going to want a FastPass. This attraction is notorious for extremely long stand-by lines and in the days before FastPass+, paper FastPass distribution was usually out within an hour of park opening. This should be your number one choice when booking your FastPass+ options
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Staring Aerosmith
    • If for reason you aren’t into Toy Story Midway Mania (well, you’re obviously a little crazy), then your next choice should be Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. This is the only roller coaster at Disney that goes upside down and is a must-do for any thrill seeker.
  • Fantasmic!
    • Once you use up your 3 FastPass+ choices for the day, check and see if an additional FastPass+ is available for Fantasmic! You can totally see this show without a FastPass, but do realize that you will have to arrive early before the show starts. I’ve arrived 30 minutes early before and been turned away because it was already full.
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
    • Depending on the time of year, this attraction can have long waits and the FastPass+ is good choice for this one. This is one of my absolute favorite attractions, so I like to ride this a few times during my visit.
  • Star Tours
    • This is the perfect attraction for any Star Wars lover in your group. Personally, this ride makes me motion sick, but I always suck it up and ride at least once with my group. This is another attraction that can have a long wait, so grab a FastPass+ if you can.

Skip It

  • Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
    • I really enjoy this show, but I don’t think that you should use one of your precious FastPass+ options on it. Just arrive a little early and grab a good seat.
  • Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage
    • I’m really not sure why this is considered a Category A attraction. The show is cute and very well done, but as long as you get in line a little early, you can usually grab a seat. If you want to be front and center though, the FastPass would come in handy.
  • Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular
    • Okay, so this one time, I got to be in the show as one of the extras! You know, no big deal. Anyways, this is another really fun show that you don’t need a FastPass for as long as you do a little pre-planning and get there a little before the show starts.

What are your favorite attractions at Hollywood Studios? Share your must-see and do things with me in the comments!

Jaunt, a virtual-reality technology company has joined forces with The Walt Disney Co. and other key investors to bring live-action shows, movies and sports events to fans.

The $65-million investment between Jaunt and Disney, Evolution Media Capital, China Media Capital, Axel Springer and Madison Square Garden Co., would provide Jaunt with the capital to improve cameras, develop new software and increase production bringing fans and viewers top quality programming.

Jaunt has already provided viewers with concerts and movies enjoyed from every angle via virtual reality headsets, which give the feeling of being a part of the actual event.

With locations in their Palo Alto headquarters and new studio in Los Angeles, the venture is expected to allow hiring of talented personnel.  And with the management of the company in the hands of three former Lucasfilm executives, Jaunt will be ready to provide the market with the 3 million virtual-reality headsets expended to be available for shipping worldwide.

The question then is not if but when and how much for my own personal virtual-reality headset?

With an imaginative, playful design that tells the story of a man who loved the adventure of flight, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is open along the waterfront at Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World Resort.

The cozy lounge with spacious outdoor seating features light bites and drinks inspired by Jock’s globe-trotting, including a stint as the pilot for Indiana Jones in “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

“Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar fits into the storytelling of Disney Springs – a town that grew up over time,” says Theron Skees of Walt Disney Imagineering.

The space is layered with all of the adventures that Jock went on his career, says Skees. “It’s all about Jock’s love of flying and his collection over the years.”

The inspired atmosphere is in the details, from spare airplane parts to nostalgic postcards and antique maps tacked to the walls.

Walt Disney Imagineers weave a tale of Jock’s high-flying life, with the pilot making his home at Disney Springs in the 1940s after discovering the charming little town while flying over the Sunshine State in 1938 search of the elusive Fountain of Youth.

One of the architectural focal points of the lounge is the lamella ceiling, a specific type of timber construction that was popular in airplane hangars in the 1940s. The open framework creates a lightness in the cozy room. Fanciful details include an antique dive bell, from Jock’s adventures at sea, now with a curved bench for private seating.

And the expansive waterfront bar is a nod to his travels around the world, with photos of Jock and his pals tasting exotic fare. But the real architectural showstopper is Reggie, Jock’s canvas-covered steamboat, named for his pet snake. Now in dry dock, it stretches out into the water, a spectacular spot for light bites and sunset-watching

Though Jock may be gone, his tales live on at this exotic watering hole.  And that’s what gives the place its charm – and a creative menu of adventurous tastes.

Each of the small plates on the opening menu has a delicious twist. Dr. Elsa’s She-Deviled Eggs are brined in beet juice with lump crab filling. “Good” Dates features goat cheese-stuffed dates with Marcona almonds and pickled veggies. Snack of Ra gives a taste of Africa with salads and dips served with injera (bread) and naan crisps. Tanis Tacos are filled with falafel, shredded lettuce and cucumber-tomato salad. The pretzels come with house-made mustard and beer-cheese fondue.

A little more substantial are the Rolling Boulder Sliders with three spice meatballs on mini-buns with yogurt sauce.  Or Brody Brats, grilled bratwurst with mustard and pickled cabbage. The Hangar’s take on chicken wings features spicy Asian wings (called “Lao Che’s Revenge”). And “Squid! Why’d It Have to Be Squid” is fried calamari flatbread with spicy harissa.

Along with beer and wine, mixologists are having fun with cocktails, such as the Cool-Headed Monkey, The Scottish Professor, Reggie’s Revenge and Anything Goes, all crafted with spirits from around the globe.

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is open from 11:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday, and until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday (no reservations).

Located between Paradiso 37 and The BOATHOUSE restaurant at Downtown Disney, the new lounge is part of the largest expansion in Downtown Disney history, which will transform the area into Disney Springs, a lively shopping, dining and entertainment destination. Guests at Disney Springs will have a unique Disney experience amid beautiful open-air promenades, flowing springs and waterfront charm.

Disney Vacation Club confirmed today that they will be expanding the Wilderness Lodge units with new waterfront cabins (similar to the Polynesian Resort). Earlier this year they submitted the plans to build 26 waterfront cabins but would not confirm if they would be timeshare units, until now.

Also plans were filed for a guest boardwalk, new bar/grill, and expanded pool area! Sounds like Disney is going to be really busy expanding the Wilderness Lodge area in the coming years.

No other details have been released like when construction will begin or end but as soon as we hear the news we will let you know.

Are you excited for the changes coming to the Wilderness Lodge? Let me know in the comment box below.

Top 5 Adult Date Night Spots At Walt Disney World

Boardwalk At Night 600x2401
Boardwalk At Night 600x2401

Boardwalk At Night

Walt Disney World is a great family vacation spot, and believe it or not, they also have a lot of great stuff for adults to do too – and an “Adult Date Night” at Disney is a really fun way to reconnect with your significant other. So book a babysitter and head out to one of these Top 5 Adult Date Night Spots At WDW:

Disney’s Boardwalk Resort: Not only is this a beautiful place to stay, but it’s a great place to play too! Start with an amazing dinner at Flying Fish Café where you can watch the chefs create amazing seafood dishes as you view the open kitchen while enjoying a flight of unique wines. After dinner, take a stroll down the boardwalk and watch it come to life as night falls – the lights, the energy – it’s the perfect atmosphere for a romantic date night. Share a treat from the Boardwalk Bakery – a key lime tart or napoleon perhaps? And then end the night with a drink and some fun at Jelly Rolls – a dueling piano bar with sing-alongs, where no song request is too obscure

Wishes Dessert Party: What could be better than enjoying an amazing fireworks show with your sweetie? The only thing I can think of is to add DESSERTS to the mix – and with Disney’s new Wishes Dessert Party, you can enjoy an unobstructed, up close and personal view of the show while you indulge in cupcakes, mousse, ice cream, chocolate covered strawberries, and more! This is something you’ll want to plan ahead to do ahead of time – as it requires a separate ticket, and the event fills up fast!

Epcot’s World Showcase: Can’t afford a trip around the World? Well, then I suggest the next best thing – head over to Epcot’s World Showcase and enjoy strolling around the different countries as you soak in the culture, sights, and sounds of 11 different countries. Sip wine in France, check out Japanese souvenirs, and enjoy dinner in Italy – all without leaving Orlando! It’s a great place to take a romantic stroll in the evening, and then you can end the evening with their nightly fireworks show that celebrates the history of Earth – IllumiNations

Monorail Resort Tour: Who doesn’t love riding the monorail? I know I do! Turn it into a date night by hopping on at the Magic Kingdom and taking the Resort Loop over to the Contemporary Resort, where you can rent a powerboat or jet ski, or go water skiing or para sailing – all of which are great ways to cool down after a hot Florida day! After your water adventures are done, hop back on the monorail and head over to The Grand Floridian Resort where you can enjoy a delicious dinner at Victoria and Albert’s, and then head to the last stop on your monorail trail – the Polynesian Resort, where you can take a stroll on the beach – and if you time it right, the beach is a great place to view the Magic Kingdom fireworks show

California Grill: This recently renovated restaurant sits high above the World (the DISNEY world that is!) on the 15th floor of the Contemporary Resort (accessible only via a special elevator – talk about VIP status!), and is home to an innovative menu which includes oak grilled filet of beef, brick oven fired flatbreads, and sushi prepared while you watch via the open kitchen. Head upstairs early and enjoy some wine or a cocktail in their gorgeous lounge area, and while you enjoy warm chocolate cake for dessert, you’ll get an amazing view of Magic Kingdom’s nighttime fireworks show – cheers to that!

Getting a chance to enjoy Disney World as a romantic date night destination may not be easy for those of you traveling with kids/family members, but if you can swing it, then I highly recommend you check out one of my above suggestions, and take the time to reconnect with your “better half” in the Happiest Place On Earth!

Is Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights moving to Epcot?

Hey there my little Disney Gossip junkies, it is I Anonymouse, serving up some fresh and hot Disney Gossip! You might have read a week or so ago that Disney is getting rid of Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. It seems fans of this light show are not happy, myself included! Since then there has been quite a few petitions to Disney not to get rid of this wonderful holiday show.

How many people remember the Lights of Winter show in Epcot? If not it’s ok I have a video. Disney retired this Christmas show back in 2009.

What if I told you a little mouse told me that Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights is coming to Epcot? Wouldn’t that be wonderful? I hear that they are moving Osborne’s to the walkway between Future World and the World Showcase, right where Lights of Winter used to be! How exciting! Honestly the shows are not that far from one another.

It would not be a huge undertaking to move the show from Hollywood Studios to Epcot honestly. They can take a friendship boat over. Anywho this is just Disney Gossip for now and as with all of my posts nothing is confirmed till you hear it from the Big Cheese himself.

So what do you think? Should Disney move Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights to Epcot? Let me know your thoughts in the comment box below.

This all the Disney gossip I have for now. For my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at anonymouse@chipandco.com or on my Facebook page
