Weird things happen on Epcot’s Test Track!

TT

Well here is a weird story for you from our friends at Doctor Disney

On Sunday Epcot’s Test Track went down due to technical difficulties, something that is not out of the norm, and then something strange happened. A guest at the theme park cut himself out of the seat belt and got out of the ride, to just roam the area. Once the ride started up again he had not returned to his seat.

When another guest in his car got to the unloading area the cast members were made aware of the situation.  The escapee was apparently roaming around the area of the semi-truck. At this point the ride was stopped, guests were evacuated and the search for the man was on.

The guest was not found and it is unknown how he escaped camera. Although in defense of Disney, test track is a mostly dark ride with lights flashing, which would make it hard to spot a moving person, not to mention he could have slipped out with the other guests when they were evacuated.

The seatbelt was fixed by the next day and no one was hurt. Let this be a lesson to everyone out there, when the ride comes to a stop, stay in the car it will start again!

Is NBA pulling out of Disney Quest?

disneyquest

Hello addicts! It is I, Anonymouse with some gossip for you! There is a rumor going around that Disney Quest will be closing in 2017, there are a few different views on why this would be happening.

First people are saying that since Disney would not remodel Disney Quest for the NBA they have pulled out of the deal. Then there are those who think basketball and this NBA city concept would not work as people are just not that into basketball anymore. Still there are people out there who think it is simply the fact that there hasn’t been any updates in a long time, things are old, broken or uninteresting.

There are a lot of people out there with some really great ideas on what could be done in the space available from a walk through Disney museum, to newer interactive games, to more star wars areas. I guess we will just have to wait and see what Disney decides to do with the space, in the meanwhile I’d love to see something done with Disney Quest, rather then it close down!

That  is all I have for now! What do you think? Comment below!

Top 5 Things You Need To Know About Staying on Property at Disney World

2016 02 22 07.56.11
2016 02 22 07.56.11

AKL

Choosing to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort for your Disney vacation is one of the smartest decisions you can make! The Resorts are great, there are a ton to choose from, and they give you the chance to be that much closer to the Magic! Once you’ve made this REALLY SMART decision – you’ll want to brush up on the ins and outs of WDW Resort life.

So read on for my Top 5 things to know about staying on property at WDW:

Cast Members Are There To Help You: The cast members at the WDW Parks are super helpful, kind, always willing to take a picture for you or answer questions, and the same goes for the Resort employees too! They are very knowledgeable, and if they don’t know the answer to a question, they will find you the person that does! Use the Resort concierge/guest services to help you with anything from dining to magic band questions to fastpass selections – that’s what they’re there for!

Take Advantage Of On-Site Dining: The WDW Theme Parks have TONS of amazing restaurant and dining options to choose from – but there’s a whole other world of Disney Dining happening right at all the Resorts! All WDW Resorts have at least one counter service dining spot, and many offer multiple restaurants that offer all types of cuisine and dining experiences – from casual family friendly buffets and character meals, to five star dining experiences – the dining at WDW resorts is truly something special, and you will definitely want to check out the options at your Resort

Extra Magic Hours: This is one of the best perks of staying at a WDW Resort, and something you will definitely want to know about well in advance! The Parks open an hour early or stay open an hour late on a rotating basis exclusively for guests of WDW Resorts – it’s a great chance to get to go on your favorite ride without any wait – and although getting up early on vacation isn’t for everyone – I personally LOVE the morning hours best – there’s nothing quite like an empty Park! Check out the official extra magic hours calendar here

Transportation Is Taken Care Of: WDW provides a shuttle service that will bring you, your family, and your luggage (no baggage claim needed!) straight from the Orlando airport to your WDW Resort – and best of all, it’s free (a win for everyone – because let’s face it – not many things at Disney are free!). The Magical Express is great – I’ve used it several times, and it’s just one less thing to have to worry about when it comes to trip planning! Once you’re at Disney, you have access to a huge network of WDW buses, boats and monorails that will get you from place to place within the Disney “World”

Ship Your Purchases To Your Room: If you go a little overboard at the Emporium and wind up with a *few* extra shopping bags full of souvenirs, then you will definitely want to take advantage of the fact that you can have your Park purchases shipped directly back to your WDW Resort room – which means no lugging around tons of bags all day! This is perfect for when you just can’t say no to buying GIANT stuffed Mickey Mouse (no judgment – I’ve been there too!) for your kid (or yourself – again – no judgment). Of course, you still will need to find space in your suitcase for them all – and if that becomes a problem, you can always buy a new Disney suitcase to bring your new loot back home in!

Hopefully these “insider” tips about WDW Resorts will help you make your WDW vacation easier, happier, and more magical!

The Good Dinosaur DVD Blu-ray Review

The Good Dinosaur 1
The Good Dinosaur 1

The Good Dinosaur 1

Last night I had the incredible pleasure of watching Disney Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur” for the first time. I’m thrilled to review this movie, because it was more than a movie, it was a piece of story telling art. “The Good Dinosaur” stomps on to DVD and Blu-rayThe Good Dinosaur DVD Blu-ray Review February 23, 2016.

There is SO much to discuss about this cinematic masterpiece, that it’s almost hard to chose where to begin. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I can say this movie definitely didn’t travel the route I thought it would. There was also a full bushel of bonus features, that were almost as engaging as the main feature it’s self.

Dinosaur and Popcorn

The first thing we always do when preparing for a movie night is to make some fresh popcorn, in a Disney World popcorn bucket of course! We went with our Animal Kingdom bucket this time around, since that’s where Dinosaur Land U.S.A. is located. My son was eagerly anticipating the lead up to the movie, from the moment the UPS man handed me the DVD all through dinner, and right up until we hit play. He has trouble in large theaters, so the moment a DVD arrives is a very cherished moment for him. We turned down the lights, and began our journey into a world of “what if the dinosaurs never went extinct”. From the moment the asteroid soared past earth my son was hooked. As an artist and writer I connected with this movie on multiple levels, as a child he connected with this movie on a deep level, that I’ve honestly never seen him have before. The movie does have some intense moments, but it’s no more intense or suspenseful  than The Lion King or Frozen. However, at each moment he laughed, he flinched, be bounced, he oohed and he even shed some tears. Pixar is known for their beautiful animations, and ability to transport you into their worlds, but this was as if we were riding along side Arlo and Spot. This movie was not only a great story, but showed growth within responsibility and facing your fears.

This truly was an epic romp through a heartfelt story of family and finding one’s true self. The characters had a realness to them, even if they were talking dinosaurs. You could actually see Sam Elliot’s facial expressions channeling through his T-Rex character Butch. The development of the different evolutionary traits were splendid, with herbivores settling into agriculture, and carnivores embracing cattle herding. If you are a Disney Pixar fan, a dinosaur fan, or even just a fan of fantastic animation I urge you to check out “The Good Dinosaur”.

The movie wasn’t all that this DVD Blu-ray combo pack offered, there was SO many incredible bonus features! The bonus features included are:

THEATRICAL SHORT – Sanjay’s Super Team
TRUE LIES ABOUT DINOSAURS
RECYCLOSAURUS
THE FILMMAKERS’ JOURNEY
EVERY PART OF THE DINOSAUR
FOLLOWING THE T-REX TRAIL
COMMENTARY
DINO BITES
HIDE AND SEEK

As well as Deleted Scenes.

sanjays super team

The most notable of the bonus features was “Sanjay’s Super Team”. An Oscar nominated animated short that is tradition with Pixar movies. This short offered a little more realness than usual, a young boy who loves super heroes, and dreams of his own heroes. This short beautifully illustrates a modern coming together of a previous generation, with the next. One thing I loved was the change in animation styles during different sequences, during an intense action montage the animation moves to a cell shading like style, which gives you a very comic book like feel.

Truth and Lies about Dinosaurs was a great bit of educational knowledge as well as showing the difference between realism and suspension of disbelief. I think this is a great little montage to show children to help them understand make believe versus historic facts.

Recyclesaurus was one of the most enjoyable features. “The Good Dinosaur” crew competes to see which department can create the best dinosaur ever, using only discarded items from the studio’s “free table,” and a SINGLE roll of duct tape! Not only was it fun to watch this hysterical competition, I felt like we got to connect more with the staff of Pixar. Seeing their office and all the fun things they have going on at any time is truly amazing. The “Free Table” is a great idea too, people drop off things they no longer want, but aren’t worth throwing away, it’s a great example of what re-purposing and up-cycling can be about.

The Filmmakers Journey was beautiful. This was another great insider piece that showed all of the research and effort that went into making this stunning film.

Every Part of the Dinosaur wasn’t what I thought at first! I was expecting facts about dinosaur bones and the like, but it was actually a break down on the animation of these fun characters, and how they were brought to life.

My other absolutely favorite bonus feature was Following the T-Res Trail. You see a small bit of this in the Filmmakers Journey, but you really get to explore the fantastic research trip director Peter Sohn and the crew took to a real live cattle ranch. The Pixar crew giddy ups and herds cattle right along with the ranching family and experience a connection that is brought to life with the T-rex family in “The Good Dinosaur”.

Then there is a few cute videos, Dino Bites a montage of unique animation sequneces, and Hide & Seek a promotional short developed for the movie.

Of course there is commentary, deleted scenes which I won’t spoil, and trailers to finish off the treasure chest of Special Features perfectly.

There is really so much to love and discuss about “The Good Dinosaur” that I could honestly go on for days, but you’ll just have to watch it for yourself and come chat with me about it in the comments!

Stay Magical!

Exciting news for everyone flying out of Latin America & those of us who just love all things Disney! Brazilian airline TAM and Disney World have come together to create a character wrap consisting of our favorite characters including Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy as well as the Castle and the Walt Disney World logo. This wrap has gone on of the liner’s Boeing 767-300s. This is the first time a Disney wrap has been on a Latin American airline!

The plane debuted on Monday morning in Brazil and is scheduled to fly its first trip to Orlando International airport today!  The plane, which is being called the “Plane of Dreams”, was revealed by Tinker Bell, she waved her magic wand and dropped some pixie dust, the curtains were removed and the magical plane was exposed! Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald were present during the reveling. There will be themed board services and the flight attendants will have special characteristics on their uniforms!

So what went into this wrap? The wrap consists of 536 adhesive panels, covering 9063 square feet which took 10 eight-hour days to apply.

I may have to take a trip out to Latin American just to fly this plane home!

Breakfast with Character at the Crystal Palace in Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Crystal Palace image 300x204 1
Crystal Palace image 300x204 1

Crystal-Palace-image-300x204

I am a strong believer that you are never too old for the magic of Disney. With this fact (yes, fact!) in mind, I made the decision to book Aaron and myself a Character Dining experience at Crystal Palace, located in the Magic Kingdom, during our most recent trip to Walt Disney World.

Although I worked at Disney World for 6 months, I had not experienced Character Dining since I was a kid, travelling with my parents. I wasn’t sure how Aaron and I, two grown adults without children, would like the experience. Would be we bored? Would the characters skip over us or spend less time interacting with us? Would the food be worth the price? I had a lot of questions going into the experience, but I can happily say that we had a great time!

The Crystal Palace is located at the end of Main Street USA, right before you enter Adventureland.

Crystal-Palace-front-225x300

“Inspired by Victorian greenhouses of the late 1800s, The Crystal Palace brims with light, topiaries and tropical palms—and is an enchanting spot to meet some favorite Disney Friends! Feast with some favorite friends from the Hundred-Acre Wood at this whimsical, all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet.”

Reservations are highly recommended for dining at Crystal Palace. While the restaurant is not as hard to get into as Be Our Guest, or some of the other high-demand eateries, it is still important to book your reservation in advance.

Our breakfast reservation was for 9:25am, but Disney suggests that you arrive up to 15 minutes prior to your reservation for check-in. We were sitting at our table and ordering our drinks by 9:30am. Our table looked right out to Cinderella Castle, it was such an amazing view! I’m really not sure how we got so lucky with that one.

Crystal-Palace-Castle-300x225

As you walk into the restaurant, you are greeted by topiaries of all your favorite characters from the Hundred Acre Woods.

topiary-pooh-225x300topiary-eeyore-300x225

topiary-piglet-225x300topiary-tigger-225x300

Our waiter was very fun and friendly and was always quick to refill our orange juices. Once you are seated, you are able to fill up at the buffet. Fair warning – pace yourself! There is a lot of food here and it is easy to get overwhelmed by all the deliciousness.

“Bountiful buffets feature American favorites prepared before you in the onstage kitchen. Start your day with puffed French toast, made-to-order omelets, freshly baked pastries, fruit and more.”

Aaron and I took full advantage of the “all you care to enjoy” buffet and stuffed ourselves. Let’s just say I wouldn’t have wanted to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for a good hour or two after we finished eating.

Crystal-Palace-Food-300x225

The puffed French toast is something truly magical. It’s like a cinnamon-sugar donut – but with extra Disney magic. Seriously, try one! So good! Now that’s all I’m thinking about…

The made to order omelet station provides all the favorites – bacon, ham, cheese, peppers, onions, and mushrooms, etc. – nothing too exotic here, but definitely something for everyone.

Of course, Mickey shaped waffles are a must eat during any Disney vacation, so we made sure to grab at least one of these as well. We also grabbed, bacon, sausage, hash browns, breakfast casserole (omg – the casserole!!). You get the idea – there is a ton of good food here – come hungry!

As you are eating, friends from the Hundred Acre Woods mingle with guests and take autographs and pictures. That day we saw Pooh, Eeyore (my favorite), and Piglet. Tigger was in the building, but he did not make it to our table during our meal. I’m sure if we would have asked a Cast Member, he would have come over, but we decided to let the kids in the restaurant enjoy some extra time with him instead.

Crystal-Palace-Eeyore-225x300Crystal-Palace-Pooh-and-Aaron-225x300

Our breakfast reservation here was actually a surprise for Aaron. I booked it months in advance, but I didn’t tell him until we arrived at Disney. Partly because I wanted to surprise him with something fun, and partly because I didn’t know how he would feel about doing a Character Dining experience.

Well, he loved it! We both agreed that it is a great way to meet a lot of characters in a short amount of time, and get some great food while you’re at it.

I would most definitely eat at Crystal Palace again, and I highly suggest this experience to any fans of Pooh and the gang, or anyone who likes a nice, big breakfast.

Have you dined at Crystal Palace before? Where is your favorite breakfast at Disney World located? Let me know in the comments.

Since November of last year guests at the Disneyland Resort have been able to travel to a galaxy far, far away during Season of the Force in Tomorrowland. One of the features of this special event is a meet and greet with some cool Star Wars characters.

When Season of the Force began, guests could meet Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and even Boba Fett. This month Darth Vader was switched out with the newest Star Wars villain, Kylo Ren. Kylo Ren and Chewbacca are the regular characters at this meet and greet but you can occasionally meet Boba Fett as well! He’s a menacing presence and can be found in the Launch Bay’s Mos Eisley Cantina-themed room during his unannounced appearances. Like his Sith counterparts, Boba Fett has a relatively large number of pre-recorded voice phrases he can use to interact with guests.

This is a cool addition to the parks and one you’d be lucky to experience!

Check out a video below:

What characters have you met during this special event at Disneyland?
