Olaf Frozen summer fun

Frozen fans visiting Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park are in for a real treat, the park will be hosting the inaugural Frozen Games this summer!

Since there has already been a freak snowstorm in Blizzard Beach and there is snow everywhere why not take advantage and hold the sporting event known as the Frozen games.

You can choose sides (either Team Olaf or Team Krisoff) and they participate in the winter games; such as snowball toss, slide races and Ice Pail Relays.

Kristoff and Olaf will attend the open and closing ceremonies and give reports during the entire event.

This looks like one winter game I may be attending!

Disney Infinity Next coming Spring 2016

Heya Disney Infinity fans! In case you missed it, Disney launched its new online video series today called, Disney Infinity Next. I watched the announcement live, but you can access it here.  After the shop-keeping announcements, such as Disney Infinity is the number 1 game in the “toys-to-life” category for two consecutive years, (as if we didn’t know that! We’re fans, right?) and that all the Disney brands are now integrated to Disney Infinity (Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and Disney), the major announcements were made and they are exciting!

Prepare for Zootopia mania.  With the movie release Friday, March 4th to a theater near you, Disney Infinity debuts its Zootopia character play pieces, Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps.  Four power discs will be available as well.  By the looks of things, Judy will become a favorite in my house with her crazy kicking abilities and agility.  Disney Infinity creators have stepped up their game with these play pieces.  They look as if they are straight out of the movie.  Play on!

As I previously posted, Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set will be out this May.  This is going to be super cool.  New Marvel play pieces will be available: Ant-Man, Black Panther, Vision and an all new Captain America.  The immersive graphics are amazing.  Visit the Disney Infinity YouTube channel to check out the teasers.  On this platform, multiple characters can play at once. They interact, talk smack, work together or against each other in brawling fashion.  Another capability is what I’m calling the “chaotic unknown”. The character you are interacting with may or may not be the real deal.  It might be a robotic duplicate.  I am definitely pre-ordering this Play Set.

DIS_IGP_Baloo-XL

With the live-action film Jungle Book opening soon, we have all been wondering when we’d see our beloved Jungle Book characters for Disney Infinity.  Wonders never cease as Baloo comes to Disney Infinity.  This classic Baloo is your long-loved favorite Original play piece who throws fruit, dances and shadow boxes to the groovy beat finding the Bare Necessities.  The question I have: will the play piece weigh more than Sulley or Mr. Incredible.  I look forward to finding out.

Finally, there were hints of things to come including the big scoop I had recently about Alice in Wonderland.  Again, nothing official, but it sounds like a done deal.  We’ll soon see Alice characters presumably with the opening of the movie, Alice Through the Looking Glass.  Plus more Play Sets and pieces like Spider-Man, sold individually, coming soon to your favorite game retailer.

Until next time, keep playing!

Top 10 Walt Disney World Tips From Disney Addicts

WDW Disney Addicts
WDW Disney Addicts

WDW Disney Addicts

I asked and you answered! Earlier this month I posted a question on the ‘You Might Be a Disney Addict…” Facebook page asking Disney Addicts what is their #1 tip for a Disney World Vacation. There were 175 comments, some including more than one tip! Let’s face it, when you love Disney you just can’t help yourself.

I spent time reading through each comment and tallying up the results. Let’s countdown the Top 10 Disney Addict tips for visiting Walt Disney World:

10. Stay on Site – I love this advice! Disney World has amazing resorts and I would just about guarantee that there is something for everyone, whether you want to save money or live it up big! Staying on site gives you advantages like 180 day Advanced Dining Reservations, Extra Magic Hours, Free transportation, being close to the action, and making FastPass+ selections earlier. Not to mention that special Disney feeling that you can only get from a Disney hotel!

9. Take a Midday Break – this is something that my family does each day at Disney World. We go to the parks early (which was another Disney Addict favorite tip) to get in rides when the crowds are lighter and then break after lunch. We relax in our room or go for  a swim at our resort, take naps and do laundry. Sometimes you just need to get away from the busyness of the parks and have a little time to relax. Many Disney Addicts recommend taking a break during your day. This is another reason that #10 makes a Disney vacation so much easier, you can use free transportation back and forth to your resort and don’t have to fight the crowded parking lots.

8 & 7. Book Advanced Dining Reservations and Use FastPass+ – Disney Addicts tied on these two tips, but they go together nicely. When you stay on site you can make your dining reservations 180 days before your check-in date and you can make your FastPass+ selections 60 days in advance. If you want to make sure you get the reservations you want for meals that are important to you (think eating inside of Cinderella Castle) you had better be ready 180 days in advance. FastPass+ times for the most popular rides can go pretty quickly, so you want to stay on top of this as well. If you have no idea what I am talking about when I say FastPass, it is a time that you reserve to go on a specific ride. You receive a time slot and when you show up to the ride during that time you get to skip the Stand-By line and go right to the front. It’s a great feeling when you are walking past a long line of people to the front of the ride and you know you just saved yourself some time that will let you enjoy another fun Disney World ride or experience!

6. Slow Down – Disney Addicts love the Disney Parks and they know that you will enjoy your vacation so much more if you slow down and enjoy the experience. Don’t try to rush from one side of the park to another or always be in a hurry. There are so many details around the Disney parks that you will miss if you are always in a hurry. Look for hidden Mickeys (my daughters love to find them in the aquarium after going on The Seas With Nemo and Friends), find the horseshoe print that Maximus left near Rapunzel’s tower, listen to the music that fills the air and notice the amazing aroma while walking down Main Street. Take a deep breath, slow down and observe all that is happening around you at the Happiest Place on Earth!

5. Wear Comfortable Shoes – Comfortable shoe means something different to each person, but everyone does agree that your Disney vacation is not the right time to break in a new pair of shoes. Wear something on your feet that you are comfortable in. A lot of Disney Addicts recommend a good pair of tennis shoes. I prefer my flip-flops that I wear all summer long. Whatever it is that your feet are used to walking in and comfortable in… wear them in the parks. And, don’t be surprised if they are still a little tired and sore by the end of the day.

4. Be Spontaneous – There are tons of books and websites out there to help you plan your perfect touring day. They will advice you which ride to be at during which time to maximize your time in the parks. While there is some great advice and plans out there, make sure to leave time to be spontaneous. Some of the best vacation moments happen when they aren’t planned and Disney is great at surprising you with a little magic. On our first trip to Disney we were headed to a ride and I noticed a cast member with a blue shirt standing around (classic sign that a character might be on their way), so I asked if there was a meet and greet and sure enough Tigger and Pooh were showing up in a few minutes. We were the first ones in line and it will now forever be remembered because it was two of  my daughters’ first time meeting a character. Another time we were sitting on a bench and we were invited into a building where we got to meet Captain Barbossa. If you plan every moment of your day you will miss the little fun things that pop up along the way.

3. Plan ahead – I love Disney Addicts! This might sound like it contradicts with #4, but it doesn’t… if you do it right. While it is important to allow yourself to be spontaneous, your Disney vacation NEEDS a plan. If you don’t know what an ADR or FastPass is or that Disney World is more than just Magic Kingdom and that there are actually four parks, you are going to be overwhelmed. I am convinced that those people who visit Disney World and walk away miserable either did not do enough planning, or they did too much planning. It is a fine line to walk, but from my experience, the more planning you do before you leave home, the more spontaneous you can be while on your vacation. Do not try to “wing it” at Disney, especially if you have never been there before, it is sure to be a mistake (find out other mistake made on Disney trips here).

2. Have fun – This might seem like an odd thing to have to mention, but it was the #2 recommended tip from our Disney Addicts for a reason. Disney World can be overwhelming and it can actually be easy to forget to enjoy yourself. Let yourself act like a kid again. Don’t worry about what others around you are doing, just enjoy yourself. One addict recommended that when you are walking into Magic Kingdom you take the first moment to enjoy the castle. Call me silly, but my eyes tear up every time I see the castle the first time each trip. When your trip starts and you first step foot on Disney property, let real life and all it’s troubles fade away and enjoy the magic that Disney World has to offer. Smile. Laugh. Skip. Hug a character. Enjoy yourself!

1. Don’t Try To Do and See Everything – Walt Disney World is a big place and between the four parks, resorts, and Disney Springs there is a lot to see and do. If you try to do it all you will drive yourself crazy and walk away disappointed. Even if you stay a full week, you will not see every show, witness each parade, and go on every ride that Disney has to offer. We try to always allow 2 days at Magic Kingdom on each of our stays and 1 day at the other parks, and we don’t even come close to touching all that Magic Kingdom has to offer. This is where #3 (Plan Ahead) comes in handy. Research the parks, the rides, the restaurants, the shows and see what things are important to you. Our family of 5 makes sure that each person picks their #1 thing they want to experience for the day and we make sure that all 5 of those things happen. After that we do the best we can to hit our favorites or try something new, but we never try to do it all.

There you have it, the Top 10 Disney World Tips From Disney Addicts. While those were the top, there were lots of other great tips that were provided and I wanted to take a moment to mention a few of my favorites:

  • Buy ponchos and stay if it rains – or better yet, bring ponchos with you… it rains in Florida, but not usually for the whole day. Don’t leave if it starts to rain, wait it out and you will find a less crowded park to enjoy. I also recommend if you have a stroller buying a cheap clear plastic shower liner to cover your stroller with if it rains. It works great to keep the stroller and any children in it dry.
  • Get the dining plan  – I love the Disney dining plans! I like to pay for my meals before I go and then not think once about the cost of food while I am on vacation. I don’t like to nickel and dime while I enjoy my Disney meals and snacks.
  • Buy magical sunglasses – This is an amazing tip I wish I knew a few years ago. Some children are terrified of the Disney characters and don’t enjoy meeting them, this can be a problem if you have multiple children or are eating at a Character Meal. A Disney Addict recommended giving your child “magical” sunglasses and telling them they allow the child to see the Character without the Character seeing them. Great tip!

In the end Disney Addicts also recommend that you try to never go home once you are there! What are your favorite Disney World vacation tips?

Disney Channel to Begin Casting Today for “High School Musical 4”

It’s been over 10 years since the global sensation “High School Musical” took the world by song. Now Disney Channel is getting ready to return to East High, again!

A nationwide casting search began on March 1, 2016 for the planned Disney Channel Original Movie, “High School Musical 4,” that will continue the story of the global phenomenon “High School Musical” — and introduce new East High Wildcats and their cross-town school rivals, the West High Knights. Oooooooo, enticing!

DGA Award nominee Jeffrey Hornaday (Disney Channel’s “Teen Beach Movie,” “Teen Beach 2”) is attached to direct and choreograph the movie. The casting directors are Jason La Padura, C.S.A., Natalie Hart, C.S.A., and Kendra Patterson, C.S.A., of LaPadura/Hart/Patterson.

Information on open casting calls to be scheduled this spring will soon be posted at www.disneychannel.com/opencall.

Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said,

“High School Musical is part of Disney Channel’s DNA. It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we’re excited to announce ‘the start of something new’ — as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the ‘High School Musical’ franchise.”

Dan Berendsen (creator/executive producer of Freeform’s “Baby Daddy,” writer of Disney’s “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” Disney Channel’s “Teen Beach 2” and “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie”) and Peter Barsocchini (writer of all three “High School Musical” movies) are the screenwriters of “High School Musical 4.” Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush return as the executive producers.

Directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega (also of Disney Channel’s “Descendants”) “High School Musical” is remembered fondly by a generation of kids and families and renowned for inspiring viewers to explore and participate in music, dance and theater. The now iconic Disney Channel Original Movie premiered January 20, 2006, delivering 7.7 million Total Viewers in the U.S.– at the time, the highest ratings for any telecast ever on Disney Channel. It broke new ground as the first-ever TV movie soundtrack to reach #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and went on to become the #1 album of 2006 as well as the #1 soundtrack and #1 Kids’ album of that year.

Its critically acclaimed sequel, “High School Musical 2,” ranks as the #1 basic cable telecast of all time (18.6 million viewers for its August 17, 2007 premiere). The “High School Musical 2” soundtrack is triple Platinum and its DVD release was the top-selling TV property on DVD for 2007. Walt Disney Pictures debuted “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” in October 2008. Its premiere weekend box office sales marked the highest debut ever for a musical and for a live-action G-rated film. It grossed over $250 million at the worldwide box office.

“High School Musical” received two Emmy Awards, the Television Critics Association Award, an Imagen Award (recognizing the positive portrayal of Latinos in entertainment media), a Billboard Music Award for Soundtrack of the Year, an American Music Award and a Producer’s Guild of America Award. The movies also delivered licensed amateur and professional touring stage productions, a bestselling junior novel, a popular consumer products franchise at mass retailers, a themed show at Disneyland Parks and Resorts in Anaheim, Orlando and Paris, and a sold-out 42-date arena concert tour in North America and Latin America.

Non-Disney Activities to Experience on Your Disneyland Vacation

non disney

The Disneyland Resort is the Happiest Place on Earth and a wonderful vacation destination. When my family visits Disneyland in Southern California we sometimes like to do non-Disney activities as well. (Gasp! I know) For those of you that want to explore the area and do some fun non-Disney things on your next Disneyland trip, check out my list!

USH

  • Universal Studios Hollywood-For an action-packed day (or 2), head over to Universal Studios Hollywood. Located just over an hour away from Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood offers thrilling rides and shows, a real working movie studio, and some great shops and restaurants. This year they are even adding The Wizarding World of Harry Potter which opens April 7th.
  • Knott’s Berry Farm-Fun is always in season at Knott’s Berry Farm! There’s something for everyone at this theme park; rides for all ages, live entertainment, delicious dining, and a variety of shopping opportunities. Knott’s Berry Farm is also known for its scrumptious boysenberry pie and famous chicken dinner. The park is only about a 20 minute drive from the Disneyland Resort. Some special events happening at the park soon are the Coaster Run on March 6, 2016, the Boysenberry Festival from March 19-April 3, 2016 and the Easter Champagne Brunch on March 27, 2016. Contact me for more information about these events!

beach

  • Beach-When vacationing in Southern California, my family loves to take a day to visit the beach! It’s a great, and mostly free, way to relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of theme parks. Our favorite beach to play at is Huntington Beach. It’s not far from the Disneyland Resort, about a 30-45 minute drive, and offers fun activities and great restaurants.

LEGOLAND CA

  • LEGOLAND-Located in Carlsbad, California, just over an hour away from the Disneyland Resort, is the LEGOLAND California Resort. Everything is awesome at this resort with 3 parks; the LEGOLAND theme park, LEGOLAND Water Park, and SEA LIFE Aquarium. This is a great resort for families with children ages 2 to 12 and offers more than 60 rides, shows and attractions. The SEA LIFE Aquarium is home to more than 5,000 living creatures and incorporates LEGO models into a child’s voyage to the depths of the ocean. The LEGOLAND Water Park has more than seven slides, sandy beaches and a unique Build-A-Raft River. Also, opening this May is the LEGO Ninjago World. If you have a LEGO lover in your life, be sure to check out this resort!
  • SeaWorld-SeaWorld is an entertaining park with lots of fun shows and ways to interact with animals. There are a few rides there as well. They also have some of the best aquariums in San Diego. SeaWorld also rescues sea life and is a big supporter of conservation. Did you know that SeaWorld’s rescue program has benefited more than 25,000 animals? Not only is this park fun and entertaining, it’s educational as well!

zoo2

  • Zoo-If you have younger children, or someone in your family that loves animals, take a day and visit a zoo! There are a few different zoos not far from the Disneyland Resort. The San Diego Zoo is just over an hour and a half from Disneyland and is a great way to spend one of your vacation days. There are so many great experiences at the San Diego Zoo. From Inside Look Tours to Animal Encounters, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

What are some non-Disney activities you like to do on your Disneyland vacation? Let me know in the comments!

Hey all! Anonymouse here with 2 pieces of Disney Gossip for you!

First lets talk Fast Passes…

You know how when you go to the park and use your first three fast passes you have to find a kiosk and add 1 additional fast passes at a time till they either A. run our of fastpasses or B. till you get tired of heading to the kiosks to get more? Well now Disney is adding a new feature onto the My Disney Experience app which will allow you to be able to add additional fast passes through your phone! Bout time…  Many of the Disney blogs/websites are confirming this change and almost all are saying it should happen late April. I for one cannot wait! Something about waiting in line to get a fastpass gets on my nerves!

Next up is another little piece of Disney Gossip and it has to do with Storymaker… This is a feature that allows the rides to interact with you through MyMagic+ (MagicBand). Storymaker gives the attraction access to your personal information via RFID from your magic band. When you go on a ride/attraction with Storymaker it picks up your information and knows what to call you. Imagine meeting Mickey and he calls you by name! How cool is that? This feature was put on the back burner due to cost, but is back in the spotlight and I love it! Expect to see this rolling out in the coming months.

Stay tuned for more information on all of these exciting new features!

That is all the Disney gossip I have for now. For my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at anonymouse@chipandco.com or on my Facebook page

As previously reported, Disney cut 100 painters jobs at the resorts last month. Next on the chopping block was a few character meet & greets from the Magic Kingdom. Now we are getting word that ten “Citizens of Hollywood” actors will lose their jobs in April.

The Citizens of Hollywood are the street performers you see of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This job cut will lower the group down by one third.

A spokes woman for the Actors Equity Association Maria Somma has confirmed that ten employees, 9 full time employees and one part time employee will not renew their contracts which end mid-April.

The notice was given by Disney to the employees last week.

However Disney did say there will be other entertainment coming soon, just no details as to what that entails.

On a positive note, we are eagerly looking forward to the addition of Star Wars and Toy Story lands in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

So what do you think about all of these job losses? Is Disney trying to save money due to the overall cost of Shanghai Disneyland? Let us know in the comment box below.
