Universal Studios raises one day park tickets, again.

Universal Studios

As the busy season begins Universal Studios has once again raised their one-day park passes. The price has gone from $105.00 for adults and $100.00 for children to $119.00 for adults and $114.00 for children. This is an additional increase from earlier this year.

Also the price for the one-day park to park ticket has also gone up from $155.00 for adults and $150 for children to $169.00 for adults and $164.00 for children.

Online advanced purchased and multiple day tickets will not be affected by the price increase. Spokesman Tom Schroder said in an email;

“Those prices are unchanged and, with per-day pricing as low as $48, continue to offer our best value. Many other industries, including our own, use seasonal pricing to help manage the guest experience. We’re doing the same thing. Future pricing will appear on our website, and we encourage guests to watch the website for pricing news.”

Earlier this year both Universal Studios and Walt Disney World starting testing the supply-based price raise. Since the price increase is only for one day tickets bought at the gate people can still save money purchasing them online and picking them up at the kiosks at Universal Studios.

Editor of a Universal focused Orlando informer blog doesn’t think the prices will discourage people from going to the parks, I agree with him, what do you think? Comment below!

Mary Poppins Returns to theaters December 18th

EB

Golden Globe Award winner Emily Blunt (“Into the Woods,” the upcoming “Girl on the Train”) and Emmy, GRAMMY, Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “In the Heights”) are set to star in “Mary Poppins Returns,” a sequel to the studio’s 1964 classic, “Mary Poppins,” which will be released on December 25, 2018.

Reuniting the director and producing team behind Disney’s hit film musical “Into the Woods,” the film will be directed by Oscar nominee, Emmy and DGA Award winner Rob Marshall and produced by Marshall, Emmy winner and Golden Globe nominee John DeLuca and Oscar, Emmy and Tony Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Marc Platt. The screenplay will be written by Oscar nominee David Magee based on The Mary Poppins Stories by P.L. Travers, with Oscar nominee and Tony Award winner Marc Shaiman composing an all-new score and Shaiman and Emmy nominee and Tony Award winner Scott Wittman writing original songs.

Blunt has been cast as Mary Poppins and Miranda will play a new character, a street lamplighter named Jack. Drawing from the wealth of material in P.L. Travers’ seven additional novels, the story will take place in Depression-era London (when the books were originally written) and follows a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, who, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

“I am truly humbled and honored to be asked by Disney to bring P.L. Travers’ further adventures to the screen. The iconic original film means so much to me personally, and I look forward to creating an original movie musical that can bring Mary Poppins, and her message that childlike wonder can be found in even the most challenging of times, to a whole new generation,” says Marshall.

P.L. Travers introduced the world to the no-nonsense nanny in her 1934 book “Mary Poppins,” which Disney adapted for the screen and released in August, 1964. The film, which was directed by Robert Stevenson and starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, won five Academy Awards®, including Best Actress for Andrews. However, the subsequent adventures of Mary Poppins remained only on the pages of P.L. Travers’ seven additional books, which she published between 1935 and 1988.

Fun Personalized Mickey Beach Towels

Personalized Mickey Beach Towels

Beach weather is here, and so is my need to find matching Mickey Beach Towels for the whole family! Luckily SewWhatFun has made finding the perfect ones easy with these Personalized Mickey Beach Towels.

These Personalized Mickey Beach Towels are embroidered with the Mickey or Minnie design of your choice and name. I love embroidery for items that get roughly used such as towels, because it holds up so well. The beach towels come in 11 color choices, so you’re sure to find everyone’s favorite color. Personalized towels are great because they can match, but you won’t have anyone fighting over who’s is who’s. The designer uses nice large towels that measure Measure 30″ X 60″, which is great for laying out at the beach or pool. The towels are terry cloth on the bottom and Velour on the top side. Not too heavy, not too thick just the perfect weight. Of course having Mickey or Minnie on them is also a great way to have a little Disney with you during your summer adventures, even if you aren’t able to make it do a Disney Park.

Which color towel would you put your Mickey or Minnie on? I’m usually a purple girl, but I’m loving both the hot pink and turquoise ones! You can get your own here!

Box Office Numbers for Alice Through the Looking Glass

alice10

This past Friday, “Alice Through the Looking Glass” hit theaters. Being the sequel to the 6th highest grossing Walt Disney Pictures film of all time (the 2010 “Alice in Wonderland”) it was estimated that it would do fairly well, around $60 million over Memorial Day weekend.

However, the numbers are in and it seems that it won’t be near the box office numbers the first film reached. Over the four-day weekend, the film brought in around $34.2 million (compared to the first movie’s opening weekend of $116 million in earnings).

There could have been a number of reasons contributing to the low opening box office numbers; it could be because Tim Burton was not the director. I thought James Bobin did a fantastic job directing, but with Tim Burton having a huge fan base, many Burton fans may have opt to wait for the sequel to come to Redbox rather than pay for a movie ticket. Another possible reason? It has huge cinematic hits such as “Captain America: Civil War” and “The Jungle Book” in theaters at the same time, providing some huge competition for Memorial Day Weekend audiences.

Having seen the movie myself, I would definitely recommend the film if you’re an Alice fan. I enjoyed the new characters, the visuals, and had a great time seeing it. You can check out our official review here, as well as learn more about the makers of the film from the “Alice Through the Looking Glass” press conference.

New Cars 3 Character and Concept Art Revealed

cars3

With Pixar’s “Finding Dory” about to hit theaters in less than a month, it’s exciting to wonder about the other upcoming films Pixar has on its docket. Their next film? “Cars 3“, to be released on June 16, 2017.

For the third installment of the “Cars” trilogy, the story will be focused on main character Lightening McQueen (Owen Wilson), with familiar returning characters and Radiator Springs natives Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), Sally Carrera (Bonnie Hunt), and Ramone (Cheech Marin).

In a USA Today exclusive, an all-new character was revealed, who like Lightening McQueen, is a race car: Cruz Ramirez. Cruz Ramirez is a Hispanic, female race car instructor, who steps in to mentor Lightening McQueen to get him back to the top in the racing world. Although McQueen is still one of the top racers, he is getting a little behind from being at the top of his game due to a brand new all-star racer, Jackson Storm. McQueen, not being the most high-tech, newest car around, wants to be back at the top so seeks the help of Ramirez to get back in gear.

Brian Fee, who was the storyboard director for “Cars” and “Cars 2” is making his directorial debut with “Cars 3.” Fee seems like the perfect person to direct the third installment, with having such a deep history with the “Cars” movies’ stories and characters. Fee said, in regards to the new character Cruz Ramirez:

“Think of where he’d [McQueen] be in his career now in real time. [McQueen] is not an old man, but he’s one of the older cars on the circuit with new rookies coming in. People start to wonder and ask when he might retire.”

“Cars 3”, as with many other Pixar films, will be telling a story using non-human characters to tell a story that is a reality that most of us deal with at one point or another in our lives. Fee went on to say:

“Everyone can relate to feeling like someone is at their heels, that they might be a little outdated in something they used to be very good at, feeling an expiration date. And knowing you need someone to help you get a second chance.”

What’s To Eat at the Magic Kingdom for Snack Time!

Walt Disney World is home to some of the best food on the planet (at least in my opinion anyway!). There are TONS of restaurants and different types of cuisines, but I have to say – my favorite category in the Disney food world is the SNACKS – and yes, snacks are a real food category – especially at WDW!

I especially enjoy snacking my way around the Magic Kingdom – and here are my top picks:

Dole Whip: It’s a must have on a hot Florida day – not to mention it’s one of the most iconic Disney snacks ever! A cup full of cool, refreshing pineapple soft serve is a simple yet delicious thing – plus you can get it swirled with vanilla, or served as a float with pineapple juice (that’s my personal favorite). Aloha Isle over in Adventureland is the best place to snag one of these – it’s worth the (sometimes long) wait in line for sure! Learn how to make them at home here!

Giant Cinnamon Bun: These used to be served at the Main Street Bakery before it was refurbished as a Starbucks, and luckily it did not disappear – as it can now be found over in Gaston’s Tavern. The recipe hasn’t changed – they are still the huge, dense, yeast-y rolls as they were when the Bakery had them – with a nice thick cinnamon swirl, and plenty of ooey gooey glaze-like frosting on top, too – they are a must try! And while some of you may see a cinnamon bun as a mere “breakfast food” – I urge you to reconsider – as these are amazing any time of day, and are big enough to share (if you’re into sharing, that is)

Waffle Sandwich: Ok, so picture a huge Belgian style waffle – crispy on the outside, steaming hot and soft on the inside – you got that mental image conjured? Ok – so now, stuff said waffle with assorted amazing toppings – like Nutella and fresh fruit, or sweet and spicy breaded chicken, or ham and swiss – and if you’re liking what you’re seeing in your mind, just imagine how good it will actually taste once you head over to Sleepy Hollow and order one. They are divine – perfect for sharing, and definitely unique – I mean who else would think of something like this but the folks at WDW? If you’re not into waffles, Sleepy Hollow also has funnel cakes , ice cream, root beer floats, and more – it’s a great little spot to stop for a snack

Corn Dog Nuggets: Bit size hot dogs wrapped in delicious corn dog batter and deep fried? Yes – it’s for real, and you can get them over at Casey’s Corner on Main Street USA. The nuggets themselves are delicious, crispy outside, soft inside, with a plump hot dog in the center – but I have to say, the location is part of the appeal here too – there are few things better than grabbing some of these to enjoy while watching the parade come down Main Street. Casey’s also serves up hot dogs (with toppings like chili or pulled pork!), fries, and nachos – just like you’d find at the Ballpark (only more delicious, of course)

English Toffee: Handmade toffee coated in melted chocolate and nuts is one of my all-time favorite Disney treats, and you’ll find it at the Main Street Confectionery – a perfect place to stop to stock up on all of your candy needs. Cake pops, fudge, candy apples, cupcakes, cookies, bulk and bagged candy, and much more are for sale here – so good luck walking out of there empty handed! The toffee is sublime – it is always fresh, and while its packed with sugar (what good toffee isn’t, after all?), it manages to come off as not overly sweet, which makes it a winner for me every time

Well, it’s official – my mouth is watering, and I want to plan my next WDW trip solely based on the fact that I will get to eat all of these awesome snacks. It may seem weird that a vacation be centered so much around food, but people who think that probably have never been to Walt Disney World – because it truly is a foodie paradise. And after having sampled a lot of what they have to offer, I always come back to these old standbys.

What about you – what are your must have Magic Kingdom Snacks?
