“Moana 2” Rides a Tidal Wave of Success, Shattering Streaming Records
“Moana 2” has made an extraordinary splash on Disney+, amassing a staggering 27.3 million global views within its first five days of streaming. This remarkable achievement solidifies its position as the biggest Walt Disney Animation Studios premiere since the beloved “Encanto” (2021) and the third-largest animated theatrical premiere of all time on the platform.
The sequel’s streaming success builds upon the monumental popularity of the original “Moana,” which has now exceeded 1.4 billion hours streamed on Disney+. To put that into perspective, that’s equivalent to streaming the film over 735 million times or listening to the iconic anthem “How Far I’ll Go” on repeat for more than 50,000 years. Notably, 2024 saw “Moana” achieve its most-streamed year ever, further cementing its status as the most-streamed film on Disney+ since the platform’s 2019 launch.
Before its streaming debut, “Moana 2” made waves at the box office, securing the biggest Thanksgiving weekend opening in history and the highest opening in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ history. With a “Certified-Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes™, the film’s momentum surged, ultimately surpassing $1 billion worldwide and claiming the title of the third highest-grossing Walt Disney Animation Studios release of all time.
The combined success of “Moana” and “Moana 2” highlights the enduring appeal of the franchise, captivating audiences across the globe and setting new benchmarks for animated film success in both theatrical releases and streaming platforms.
Alright, picture this: you’re strolling through Disney Springs, soaking up that magical vibe, and BAM! You spot it. The Stitch baseball jersey. And let me tell you, it’s a total home run (pun intended!). For $69.99, you can snag this piece of intergalactic coolness, and honestly, it’s worth every penny. It’s also available online at the Disney Store.
Seriously, this isn’t just your average jersey. It’s got that classic baseball feel, you know? Full button front, nice piping, and that comfy, collarless design. But then, they kick it up a notch with some seriously awesome Stitch details. We’re talking embroidered Stitch art on both sides, so no matter which way you’re facing, you’re showing off your love for Experiment 626. Plus, his name is emblazoned across the front in big, bold letters, like he’s ready to sign autographs or something.
And the best part? The back. You get Stitch’s number, which is a sweet nod to the little blue alien. But here’s the kicker: you can also think of it as your number. So, whether you’re hitting up a baseball game, chilling at the parks, or just lounging around at home, you’re rocking a jersey that’s both Disney and totally you. It’s like you’re part of the Stitch Ohana team, and who wouldn’t want that?
“It’s Tough to be a Bug” No Longer on Animal Kingdom Map
Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s updated guide map, released today, reflects the permanent closure of It’s Tough to Be a Bug, which is being replaced by the Zootopia 3D show this winter.
The newly released map also acknowledges the impending transformation of Dinoland U.S.A. into the Tropical Americas, urging guests to experience the area before it’s gone. A clear message on the map states, “2025 is the year to visit DinoLand U.S.A. before it goes extinct,” highlighting the limited time remaining.
The updated guide map reinforces previously announced details regarding Dinoland U.S.A.’s transition: the DINOSAUR attraction will continue its Time Rover adventures until 2026, after which it will be transformed into a new Indiana Jones experience set within a recently discovered Maya temple; The Boneyard interactive play area will remain accessible throughout 2025, providing young guests with additional opportunities for exploration; Restaurantosaurus will maintain its quick-service dining operations throughout 2025; and Dino-Bite Snacks will continue to offer its selection of ice cream sandwiches and other treats.
“It’s Tough to be a Bug!” was located within the iconic Tree of Life, the centerpiece of Animal Kingdom. While the attraction is now closed, the Tree of Life itself remains a prominent feature of the park, clearly visible in the center of the map and throughout the park. The Discovery Island Trail is now the sole tree-related attraction listed, offering guests the opportunity to walk around the Tree of Life and appreciate its intricate animal carvings.
