SeaWorld Orlando’s Viva la Música Brings Latin Beats & Flavors to Life

Viva la Música is sizzling back into action at SeaWorld Orlando with new flavors and some of the hottest Hispanic artists in the industry. This fiery, festive celebration runs Saturdays April 16 and 23, and May 7 and 14 and is included with park admission.

On Saturday, April 16, salsa and Latin music sensation, Jerry Rivera will take the stage. Rivera has sold more than 11 million records and has topped the Billboard chart with gold and platinum songs.

Then on Saturday, April 23, Latin Grammy winner, Víctor Manuelle will dazzle guests as he performs hit songs like “No Quería Engañarte” from his multiplatinum albums.

Viva la Música activities begin at 12 p.m. each Saturday at the Bayside pathway, with concerts starting at 3 p.m. at Bayside Stadium.

Foodies and music lovers can enjoy this family-friendly annual festival with new authentic cuisine prepared by SeaWorld’s Executive Chef Hector Colon; live concerts by these internationally acclaimed Hispanic artists and bands; and unique merchandise from local artisans that reflect the true spirit of Latin culture.

FLAVORS TO TASTE

Chef’s signature creations – New this year at Mango Joe’s is the Hamburguesa Cubana, a hamburger made with a chorizo, ground beef and pork patty. Plus, guests who visit Seafire Grill, Cypress Bakery and Mango Joe’s will find an array of Latin infused limited-time dishes.
New, savory and authentic dishes this year include:

o Piononos – Sweet plantain stuffed with traditional seasoned ground beef

o Morcilla – Traditional Latin American blood sausage

o Sorullitos – Caribbean-style fried polenta sticks

o Frituras de camarones – Skewered shrimp fritters with fried plantains

o Lechón asado – Traditional roaster pork rubbed with Caribbean spices

Some of the guests’ returning favorites include piraguas (shaved ice with tropical flavors), bacalaítos (fried salted codfish pancakes), pinchos (skewered grilled meat with fried plantains) and tripletas, a hearty sandwich made with roast pork, chicken, steak and cheese topped with potato sticks and a special sauce.
Food Sampler Package – For $25, guests looking to try an assortment of new flavors can choose from five samples of select dishes and also receive 15 percent off all food and drink purchases on the event pathway.

Pastries, desserts, beers, margaritas, mojitos, cuba libres, wine and a special house-made sparkling red sangria are also available throughout the event pathway.

Every Saturday during Viva la Música, upbeat concerts from internationally renowned stars of reggaeton, salsa, merengue and more will take the stage at SeaWorld Orlando’s Bayside Stadium for exciting live concerts.

Beginning Tuesday, April 26th guests will be able to enjoy early morning access to Magic Kingdom with Early Morning Magic. Disney’s Early Morning Magic is a special ticketed event that will be available on select Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 7:45am – 10:00am. Ticket prices are $69 per adult and $59 per child, in addition to regular theme park admission. Tickets include access to three Fantasyland attractions plus a breakfast at Pinocchio Village Haus. Official check-in will take place near the far left turnstiles of the Main Entrance to Magic Kingdom park beginning at 7:30 AM.
Guests who have purchased both regular theme park admission and a special event will receive an event sticker for identification upon check-in.
Starting at 7:45 AM, event Guests will be admitted into the park and guided into Fantasyland.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan’s Flight are the only attractions that will be operational during this special event.
From 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM, breakfast will be available at Pinocchio Village Haus.
Around 9:00 AM, the theme park will open to Guests with regular Magic Kingdom admission tickets and event-only attraction access will end.
Please note that regular theme park admission is required for this event, in addition to a Disney Early Morning Admission ticket.

New details about Epcot’s Frozen Ever After attraction have been revealed on the Disney Website. This summer is sure to be a hot one at Walt Disney World but guests may catch a chill over at the Norway Pavillion at this brand new family friendly attraction. The site still indicates “summer 2016” but there is a lot of chatter about May 28th as a possible opening date.

Come and celebrate a very special “Summer Snow Day” with Queen Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff and friends.

Welcome to Frozen Ever After, an unforgettable adventure where you’ll be whisked away for an on-the-water journey through Arendelle—one set to the tune of your favorite songs from Frozen!

The adventure begins on the docks of Arendelle, as seen in the classic animated film. After finding a seat aboard your boat, feel an Olaf-inspired smile frost across your face when the lapping waters take you right into the frozen willow forest.

Disney Live-Action Film About Snow White’s Sister in the Works

More news on the Disney live-action fairy tale front! Today in an exclusive with The Hollywood Reporter it was announced that Walt Disney Studios picked up a script about Rose Red, sister to Snow White. The original “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” story was by The Brothers Grimm, and Rose Red was another character created by them with her own story in Grimms’ fairy tales, with no relation to Snow White.

Screenwriter Justin Merz wrote the script, entitled “Red”, originally just based on the Rose Red fairy tale. Evan Daugherty (who wrote the screenplay for “Snow White and the Huntsman”) has since helped re-work the script with her being Snow White’s sister. This seems like quite a smart move, seeing as how there have been a couple of live-action Snow White movies (not from Disney) released in the last few years.

The film will take place after Snow White has bitten into the Evil Queen’s poison apple, and it will be up to Rose with the help of the dwarfs to find a way to break Snow White’s curse. A fresh take on the Snow White story will definitely be interesting to see, and am excited to see Disney put a new twist on the fairy tale that is such a huge part of the company’s history. I especially love the idea of Snow White’s sister having to go on an adventure to help save her sister’s life, and am interested to see if Prince Charming will play a role in this particular take on this classic tale.

A Look Into the New Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away Stage Show – Now Showing!

The brand new stage show Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away officially debuted at Hollywood Studios on April 4th. Five performances will be held daily in front of the Chinese Theater at 11:30am, 1:30pm, 2:30pm, 4:30pm and 5:30pm.

A procession of First Order stormtroopers is led by the menacing Captain Phasma before each show. They march in formation through the crowd from Star Wars Launch Bay to Center Stage in an intimidating fashion that is only to be expected from a stormtrooper.

The show features some of your favorite Star Wars characters including C-3PO, R2D2, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Kylo Ren, Boba Fett and BB-8. Watch as iconic moments from the Star Wars saga are recreated on stage right in front of your very own eyes.

Be sure to arrive about 30 minutes early if you would like a good view. The stage is approximately 4 1/2 feet high so get as close to the rope as you can for a good view as guests will remain standing for the duration of the show.

Wonderfully Whimsical Wooden Signs and Plaques for a Disney Touch at Home

I love the rustic touch of wood, especially when combined with the fantasy and magic of Disney for a truly cozy piece of art. The designer WoobiesCorner on Etsy has made some fabulous creations we’ve seen before like the Disney House Rules signs, and now she has so many more to share.

The designer is Sica Keays, and she’s truly a talented artist that puts lots of love and hard work into each piece she creates. Using upcycled wood Sica brings to life our favorite Disney characters and makes beloved Disney quotes pop. She uses a technique called pyrography (wood burning) for the entire outline with a combination of paint washes and finishes with a coat of protecting polish to make your design last a lifetime. Because of the beautiful way that wood grains and knots are, no two pieces will be exactly alike, giving a natural warmth to every one. All designs are outlined, cut, sanded, and burned by hand, bringing together a look that is charming and inviting for all Disney fans.

Today The Muppets‘ very own rock artists Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem band will be performing live at the Outside Lands Music Festival this year. The music festival will be in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park August 5th-7th, with The Electric Mayhem being just one of many big music performers at the festival.

You won’t want to miss this epic appearance, as Janice says in the promo video below, “you have to totally be there in person!” It won’t be available to view in other formats, just at Outside Lands Music Festival 2016.

The rest of the talent line-up includes Radiohead, Lionel Richie, Lana Del Rey, Duran Duran, and Zedd, just to name a few. Tickets will be available starting April 7th, and can be purchased here.

Mark Hamill and Kathleen Kennedy Announce New Star Wars: Force For Change Charitable Campaign

Today, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars veteran Mark Hamill announced a new campaign sponsored by CrowdRise in support of Star Wars: Force for Change, an initiative that inspires people to make a positive impact on the world. Starting April 5^th, Star Wars: Force for Change will match the donations of Star Wars fans to four select charities up to $1,000,000!

To date, Star Wars: Force for Change has raised over $10,000,000 with the help of the amazing Star Wars community. This month-long campaign will lead up to “Star Wars Day” on May the 4^th. The four select charities include the U.S. Fund for UNICEF in support of UNICEF Kid Power, American Red Cross, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Make-A-Wish®.

“Star Wars fans are some of the most generous, thoughtful, and sympathetic people I have ever met,” says Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. “I am so proud of the charitable work they have done over the years and hope this month-long donation-matching campaign will go some way to express our sincere thanks for their tireless efforts.”

Rivers of Light opening date pushed back

While we had recently reported that Disney had announced they were going to begin nightly showings of Rivers of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on April 22nd, it appears now that date has been pushed back indefinitely. In a release today, Disney had this to say:

“With the expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park, we’re excited to give Guests even more opportunities to celebrate the magic of animals and nature as day turns into night. While we’d hoped to debut these offerings on April 22, unfortunately, they will not open as planned on that date as we give the team more time to bring these innovative experiences to life in a way we know will exceed our guests’ expectations.

We’ll share more information about timing on Disney Travel News by mid- to late May.”

They did, however, share a sneak peek photo from rehearsal, which you can see above, and it looks amazing. We hope this show is up and running as soon as it can be! We will keep you updated when we know more!

New DVC restrictions for resale buyers

Those who buy into the Disney Vacation Club do so because they love and visit Disney so much, that it financially makes sense for them to do so. We love the ability to stay in Villas, which allow us more space and privacy when traveling, and the freedom to try out all the various Disney Vacation Club Resorts each time we plan a visit. Some of the additional perks of membership include discounts on merchandise, tickets, restaurants, as well as access to other special “Member Exclusives”. This year, Disney is even hosting some special members-only parties at WDW to celebrate the DVC’s 25th Anniversary!

However, it appears that from this point forward, members who buy their points resale instead of buying directly from Disney themselves will not be receiving any of the additional benefits and discounts anymore. In fact, the following letter has been sent to DVC Members from Ken Potruck:

Our goal at Disney Vacation Club has always been to create magical experiences for you and your families – experiences you simply can’t find anywhere else but Disney.

Sense of Africa Tour Available to Book on April 5th

The new Sense of Africa Tour at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will become available to book beginning April 5, 2016. The 3.5 hour long tour will be offered on Tuesday and Saturday mornings at 7am beginning April 9th. The experience will include breakfast at Boma-Flavors of Africa followed by a backstage peek at the care, feeding, well-being and social interactions of resident animals such as okapi, giraffe, ostriches and red river hogs. Sense of Africa is sure to be a feast for all five senses.

Taste

Start your exploration with a breakfast chockfull of exotic (try the pap, a tangy porridge-like dish from South Africa, or turkey bobotíe) and more familiar fare (Mickey waffles, anyone?). But why not be adventurous? There are so many authentic African dishes, from sweet to savory and beyond.

Smell
A visit to Boma—Flavors of Africa is a buffet of delicious scents and spices. On the savanna, get a whiff of the hay or browse (leaves, tender shoots and other soft vegetation, which is grown on property) the animals dine on each day.

Hearing
In addition to the snorts, grunts, squeals and bleats you may hear, the animal keeper guides and trainers offer a plethora of information. Did you know that the okapi wasn’t even discovered until 1901? Or that Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge houses the largest collection of authentic African art outside the African continent? Not to mention the Zen-like peacefulness of the savannas in the early hours.

Touch
Here’s something you don’t always get a chance to do. Select from vegetables, mealworms and other favorites to create enriching treats for a group of young red river hogs. Then watch them playfully discover – and devour – the delights you just hid for them!

Of course, everywhere you look—from the authentic garb of the cast members from Africa, and the color palette and textures of Jambo House, to the magnificent, intricate fur and feather patterns and expressive eyes of the animals – there are sights to behold to last a lifetime.

The safari truck can only accomodate 12 guests per tour and the minimum age is 10 years old. This experience is open to all guests and not just those staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
