LEGOland Florida is proud to announce that #AwesomeAwaits this summer as the theme park has added fun new attractions, new LEGO building activities and new summer time events including an exciting evening fire work show. There will be something for children of all ages and interests and a full day will be needed to experience it all!

Here’s what’s in store:

LEGOLAND Night Lights – new event for 2016!

The “Lightiest Nightiest Nights of All” invite guests to enjoy extended park hours; meet-and-greet opportunities with favorite LEGO characters, including some making their first appearance at LEGOLAND Florida Resort; exclusive opportunities to build alongside LEGO Master Model Builders; and a spectacular, brick-tacular LEGO NINJAGO® fireworks display that will light up the sky above Lake Eloise with brilliant colors and triumphant music.

Held exclusively at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, the party is included with theme park admission and will take place every Saturday and Sunday from June 18 through July 31.

Imagination Zone – newly re-imagined!

The theme park’s Imagination Zone venue, a popular indoor space filled with hands-on LEGO building activities in a variety of themes, has debuted several all-new areas where kids can unleash the power of their imagination in fun new ways. Following a months-long refurbishment, the awesomely re-imagined space gives LEGOLAND Florida Resort guests many great new reasons to come and play.

While a few favorites remain, several all-new activities promise endless possibilities to dream it, build it, race it, fly it, swim it and more in a cool indoor play area that’s been totally transformed with colorful furnishings and floor-to-ceiling graphics. Highlights include the Creation Zone, Water Zone, Wheels Zone, Building Zone and Flight Zone.

“LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS™: The Book of Creativity” – action-packed film starring the new LEGO heroes!

Playing daily in the Wells Fargo® Fun Town Theater alongside “The LEGO Movie™ 4D A New Adventure,” this all-new, 4D attraction is an immersive, animated adventure created especially for LEGOLAND Parks and LEGOLAND Discovery Centers around the world.

Set in the futuristic kingdom of Knighton, the 12½-minute film follows five young knights in their quest to defeat Jestro, the Book of Monsters and their Lava Monster Army. Led by heroic Clay Moorington, the band of knights join forces with the great digital wizard, Merlok 2.0, to vanquish the enemy and stop him from getting his devious hands on a powerful book of magic.

Afterward, kids can go on a quest to discover six shields scattered across the theme park that will unlock exclusive NEXO Powers in the free LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS Merlok 2.0 mobile app, available for iOS and Android devices.

Plus, Lance Richmond, the handsome hero of LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS, will be available to greet guests outside the theater. Check the theme park’s free Show Guide for character appearance times.

Build-A-Boat – nautical new attraction at LEGOLAND Water Park!

Creative Cove is a new expansion area at LEGOLAND Water Park that adds a fun, hands-on attraction, Build-A-Boat, where kids can create and race LEGO watercraft through fast-flowing rivers alongside cheering crowds in a setting inspired by the popular LEGO City Coast Guard sets.

Additional dining offerings, increased seating capacity and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the entire water park round out the all-new offerings for 2016.

Most Authentic Line of Star Wars Props Available to Purchase

Some big news for Star Wars fans! Just recently launched is the “Star Wars Collectibles: Ultimate Studio Edition”. It is a line of the most authentic prop replicas ever created, and are in fact made-to-order by propmakers at Propshop in Pinewood Studios (where Star Wars Episode VII was filmed, and where Episode VIII is currently being filmed). Fans can check out a behind-the-scenes video of the making of these incredible hand crafted props:

New transportation coming to Universal Studios soon!

As reported earlier Comcast requested theme park zoning on property they recently purchased on Universal Boulevard near Universal Studios. It now seems that they are trying to find new ways to get their guests around this new property.

Universal Studios is proposing to Orange County’s I-Drive District Development leaders that they will run some type of transportation connection between all of their newly purchased lands, it is unsure if it will be buses, train, or some type of waterway.

According to the Orlando Business Journal the map shows the recently purchased land connecting to the much larger plot of land. (Far right side of the map)

Although Universal has not yet made any official announcements on how the land will be used, if Universal is looking to built retail, hotels and entertainment on these smaller areas and then another theme park on the larger portion it is likely this new transportation will play a large role in keeping their guests on Universal owned property for the entire length of stay.

There are many options of what can be done here but unfortunately until an official announcement is made by Universal we will not know.

NFL Pro Bowl Week Activities Coming to Disney World in 2017

A press conference was held yesterday at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex where the NFL officially announced that its 2017 Pro Bowl is coming to Orlando, Florida. It will be played at Camping World Stadium near downtown with several of the official Pro Bowl activities taking place at Walt Disney World Resort. The event is part of the league’s new approach of making Pro Bowl Week a celebration of all levels of football – from youth to high school to the NFL’s best.

The Pro Bowl teams’ practices, an NFL Flag football event and other youth football events will take place at Disney’s sports complex. It’s the perfect fit when you consider the sports complex annually hosts more than 100 youth sports events, such as the Pop Warner Super Bowl, and regularly attracts NFL players for the Tom Shaw Performance Camp and the Gruden QB Camp.

Officials from the NFL, Disney Sports, ESPN and Florida Citrus Sports, plus Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, were part of the announcement Wednesday along with former NFL star Charles Woodson. The press conference followed an informal youth football clinic involving kids from Orlando’s Edgewater High School.

The announcement is quite a triumph for Central Florida because of the significant economic impact that comes with it as well as the national exposure from the ESPN telecast of the game.

New Limited Star Wars D-Tech Artwork Launches This Summer

There are so many fantastic Star Wars themed events and adventures going on at Disney Parks this summer. To celebrate the a summer filled with Star Wars, Disney has many galactic treats. You can awaken the Force this summer with new limited edition Star Wars D-Tech artwork designs.

Beginning this summer, the first and 15th of each summer month will see the release of new Star Wars D-Tech artwork. The above phone cases and MagicBands include artwork being released June 1st. On June 15th the below phone cases and MagicBands showcase some of the art releasing then. These limited edition artworks will generally be available up to 30 days after their initial release.

The creation process for a D-Tech on Demand phone case or retail MagicBand only takes a few minutes. YOu can choose your phone model or preferred MagicBand color, select a favorite design and add your name. For Star Wars artwork, names can be written in Aurebesh, one of the alphabets used in the Star Wars galaxy. These are a fun and exciting way to create unique cases and bands, that will stand out.

The D-Tech creation process is available at select kiosks within the Disney Parks Resorts.

The Class of 2017 Disney Dreamers Academy is Now Accepting Applicants

The 2017 Disney Dreamers Academy is now accepting applications from high school students ages 13 to 19 nationwide. Only 100 students will be selected to participate in the innovative, outside-the-classroom, mentoring program held at Walt Disney World Resort in March 2017. The class of 2017 will mark the program’s 10th anniversary.

Steve Harvey, syndicated radio and television personality, along with ESSENCE and Walt Disney World Resort will host selected Dreamers during a four-day power-packed career and educational exploration in March 2017. “Giving back is important to me, and especially to our youth – our future leaders, entrepreneurs, and aspiring artists.” said Harvey. “We’ve seen more than 900 committed students come through the program, and I’m excited to find the next 100. The tenth anniversary will be special, and I encourage all high school students to take a minute of their time to apply for this incredible opportunity.”

For nearly a decade, Disney Dreamers Academy has helped to inspire young minds from across the country by fueling their dreams and showing them a world of possibilities as they prepare for the future. Each year, students participate in hands-on, full-immersion workshops related to a variety of career paths, ranging from animation to zoology. Each participant learns important skills, such as communication techniques, leadership values, and networking strategies.

The event takes place in the very magical and creative setting of Walt Disney World Resort. Dreamers are taken both on stage and behind the scenes, where Disney theme parks become vibrant ‘classrooms,’ leading to career discoveries, the pursuit of dreams and fun memories to cherish for a lifetime.

“We’re excited to welcome back Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE for the tenth year,” said Tracey D. Powell, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts vice president of deluxe resorts and Disney Dreamers Academy executive champion. “This program is unique for the opportunity it affords teens to be inspired and motivated to accomplish their goals. Disney Dreamers are exposed to celebrity motivational speakers and special guests who share their stories and provide insight on how to achieve success and DREAM BIG. Dreamers have the opportunity to cultivate relationships with other students from across the nation while they gain first-hand knowledge from Disney experts and world-renowned entrepreneurs and executives.

ESSENCE Communications President Michelle Ebanks added, “ESSENCE has been honored to help identify the next generation of big dreamers and welcome them to Walt Disney World Resort for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Applicants to the Disney Dreamers Academy program must answer essay questions about their personal stories and their dreams for the future. Students are selected based on a combination of attributes, including strong character, positive attitude and determination to achieve their dreams.

Select Disney Dreamers, along with a parent or guardian, will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, where they will participate in life-changing sessions and be surrounded by the creativity and innovation represented in Disney theme parks around the world. Disney Dreamers Academy will take place March 2017.

Applications are open to U.S. high school students, ages 13 to 19, through Oct. 31, 2016. A distinguished panel of leaders will judge the applications, and winners will be announced towards the end of 2016.

New Experiences Coming to Disney Wonder Sailings This Fall

New onboard experiences and entertainment are in store for Disney Cruise Line guests travelling on the Disney Wonder this fall. The enhancements will debut on sailings starting November 10, 2016 from Galveston, Texas. Take a look at what’s on the horizon for the Disney Wonder.

Marvel Super Hero Academy

The Marvel universe comes to life in Marvel Super Hero Academy. Here, young Guests can train to develop the brave and adventurous heroes inside themselves. It’s an exciting addition to Disney’s Oceaneer Club, the engaging and interactive space just for children.

Exclusively on the Disney Wonder, Marvel Super Hero Academy will offer extraordinary adventures in which each young Guest plays an integral role. With the mentorship of some of Marvel’s greatest Super Heroes, young trainees will learn the value of teamwork, bravery and problem solving through hands-on play and programs.

In one mission, Spider-Man will appear in person to help children hone their spider senses by perfecting their skills of reflex, speed and sharp minds. Children will work on their web-slinging and then get to see themselves in the headlines of the “Daily Bugle.”

The high-tech command post is also where other Marvel Super Heroes will interact with children via a large digital display, helping them unleash their inner super heroes. In one program, kids can control the movement of a character on screen to practice super skills like repulsor blasting.

Throughout the academy, displays will feature equipment that helps make Marvel Super Heroes the mightiest in the universe. Captain America’s World War II shield, Iron Man’s helmet, Spider-Man’s web shooters and Black Widow’s gauntlets will inspire young Super Hero recruits.

More Fun for Young Guests

Elsewhere in Disney’s Oceaneer Club, open to children ages three to 12 years old, kid-sized fun continues with new play spaces and more character interactions than ever before.

Frozen Adventures is where fun takes the form of imaginative play and hands-on activities. On the digital screen, Olaf leads summery games with a wintery twist and a sing-a-long of “In Summer.” In another festive activity, young Guests prepare for a coronation and receive a truly royal visit by Anna and Elsa.
Club Disney Junior features favorite Disney Junior characters, storytelling and games. During one activity, Doc McStuffins pays a visit to the club to help children diagnose and treat the stuffed animals.
Andy’s Room is where kids feel toy-sized in the multi-level play space themed to the Disney•Pixar “Toy Story” trilogy. As a special treat, Woody appears in person to join youngsters in a hoedown and Jesse stops by to join in a scavenger hunt.

These and other spaces provide the perfect settings for children to not only meet their favorite characters but to dance, play and spend quality time with them.

A new “it’s a small world” nursery will delight the youngest cruisers with a whimsical world inspired by the style of the legendary theme park attraction.

Tiana’s Place Restaurant

Exclusive to the Disney Wonder, Tiana’s Place restaurant will transport Guests to an era of southern charm, spirited jazz and street party celebrations. With a menu influenced by southern-style cuisine, Tiana’s Place will provide food for the body and soul, showing that dreams and dishes come true.

Guests of Tiana’s Place, the restaurant inspired by Princess Tiana in the Disney animated feature, “The Princess and the Frog,” will be treated to a celebration of New Orleans dining and entertainment. Live music will be performed on the main stage, with rhythmic, toe-tapping notes of jazz, swing and blues setting the tone for the French Quarter supper club atmosphere.

Chefs will cook up Tiana’s recipes, drawing inspiration from the flavors and ingredients of the Louisiana bayou. Tiana’s personal touch will be evident in the menu, the entertainment and throughout every detail in the restaurant. From Tiana’s family photos to water lily-shaped candleholders to her framed culinary awards—all will help tell the timeless tale of Tiana’s journey from waitress to frog to princess to proud restaurant owner.

Cheers, to an English Pub

The adult district includes a brand-new pub that invites Guests to take a jaunt to an authentic English tavern. Dark woods, plush leather furniture and brass accents are reminiscent of a friendly neighborhood pub. Of course, a selection of British and specialty beers create the perfect pub atmosphere, where adult Guests can sip a pint or cocktail, or sample a brew made especially for the pub.

Observant Guests may discover this is no ordinary pub. Subtle nods to classic Disney films set in London can be found in artwork, props and other bits ‘n bobs throughout the space. Brilliant stories of all sorts will be celebrated at the pub, whether those tales be true, tall or flat-out mad.

After the Disney Wonder undergoes dry dock September 9 to October 23, 2016, in Cadiz, Spain, the wave of new enhancements debut on sailings starting November 10, from Galveston, Texas.

The Disney Wonder will continue to sail from Galveston to the Bahamas and Caribbean, until the ship sails to San Juan, Puerto Rico on January 20, 2017. On January 26, 2017, a three-night cruise aboard the Disney Wonder takes Guests from San Juan to Port Canaveral, Florida, where the ship will homeport for the spring.

Summer of Mako Event Premieres June 10th at Sea World Orlando

Looking for something new and exciting to do this summer? You may want to check out the new ‘Summer of Mako’ event at Sea World Orlando premiering June 10th and Island Nights at Aquatica, Sea World’s water park, beginning July 8th. Both events will have amazing night-time offerings which means longer hours to play and explore.

From June 10 – August 7, SeaWorld will feature Summer of Mako, an all-new event that encourages families to explore, be inspired and take action to protect our one ocean. Whether you want to meet animal experts, dive deeper into an ocean of interactive games or experience Orlando’s tallest, fastest and longest coaster, Mako, Summer of Mako has something for everyone.

Mako – SeaWorld Orlando is upping the thrills this summer. Mako will be the tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster in Orlando. 200 feet high, 73 mph and a track that’s nearly a mile long. Mako is a hypercoaster, which means it’s all about speed, tight turns and that weightless feeling you get at the top of each hill. Its design and engineering was inspired by the real mako shark – one of the ocean’s fastest shark species. Mako’s two-acre surrounding realm will be fully themed to sharks, inspiring guests to learn about and care for this mysterious species which needs our help to survive.
Shark Touch Pool – Guests who have ever dreamed of touching a shark will have the opportunity to do so this summer at SeaWorld Orlando. The Relaxation Station located near Wild Arctic will be home to a brand-new educational experience where guests will have the chance to learn about and interact with brownbanded bamboo sharks, whitespotted bamboo sharks and epaulette sharks.
Interactive Games – Join the frenzy as you race around SeaWorld Orlando to find some of the tallest, fastest and longest creatures that call our oceans home.

Guests up for the Mako Challenge can make a difference by participating in a park wide text message-based scavenger hunt. Those who complete the Mako Challenge will have $1 donated to the SeaWorld Busch Gardens Conservation Fund on their behalf, benefiting a variety of conservation projects all over the world.

Animal Experiences – Throughout the park, even more animal ambassadors, educators and animal experts are stationed to share information and stories about the animals in our care and provide up-close meet and greets, scheduled feedings and fun surprises. Park guests can pick-up a Summer of Mako guide and park map for specific times and locations.
Mako Treats and Exclusive Summer Offers – Summer of Mako will offer several limited time in-park specials and culinary offerings including a honey vanilla mako shark cookie; a SeaWorld exclusive Coca-Cola Freestyle mix, Mako Blast; a specialty alcoholic beverage only available at Shark’s Underwater Grill; and Mako American Red Ale, a SeaWorld exclusive brew available in several locations around SeaWorld.
Shamu’s Celebration: Light Up The Night – Beginning June 18, experience this returning fan-favorite, a high-energy show featuring original music, amazing production elements and SeaWorld’s majestic killer whales. Shamu Stadium will transform with stylistic lighting and colorful backdrops to create a social and celebratory atmosphere ending with a fireworks finale spectacle.
Block Party – When the sun goes down, the fun starts up with a nightly Block Party along SeaWorld’s Waterfront. Celebrate summer and dance the night away with high energy music and street entertainment that is sure to provide non-stop fun for all ages.
Evening Coaster Thrills – SeaWorld’s coasters are a whole different experience when the sun goes down. If you’ve been obsessing over the upcoming release of “Finding Dory” on June 17th like we have, you’re going to be beyond excited that fans will have the opportunity to see the movie early!

On Thursday, June 16th at 9pm, 90 theaters across the U.S. there will be a special back-to-back screening of “Finding Nemo” followed by “Finding Dory“. Not only will attendees be among the first people to see the film, but moviegoers will also get a Dory After Dark reusable bag, an “I Speak Whale” button, and you will get to experience special Dory After Dark Snapchat filters.

This will be a one night event that is not to be missed!

According to @wdwmickeyhunter Two Disney characters debuted new outfits recently at Walt Disney World Resort. Pocahontas can be found at Character Landing in Animal Kingdom’s Discovery Island. Her most noticeable change is perhaps she is no longer wearing her blue necklace.

Mulan’s outfit has been updated as well and appears to be much more colorful and modern. She can be found in the China Pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase. What do you think of the new look?

Chewbacca Mom Visits Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Meets Chewbacca Himself

Candace Payne, aka “Chewbacca Mom”, set internet records a few weeks ago when she captured the hearts of millions with her genuine, infectious laughter while trying on a Chewbacca mask.

With her instantaneous celebrity status, she spent the next week crossing the country being interviewed by talk shows and national morning shows. Her whirlwind week was topped off with a visit to the place where Star Wars lives and the Force is strong – in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort.

Candace, a die-hard Star Wars fan, and her family spent the weekend living their Star Wars dreams – encountering Jawas, evading Stormtroopers, and most importantly – coming face to face with Chewbacca at Star Wars Launch Bay.

Candace is scheduled to meet the original Chewbacca from the Star Wars movies, Peter Mayhew, at Fan Expo Dallas this weekend. The expo is a big comic convention held at the Dallas Convention Center. For $20, fans can take a selfie with Chewbacca Mom herself and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to charity.
