The Grand Opening of Frontera Cocina at Disney Springs is Monday, June 27th

The grand opening of Frontera Cocina in Town Center at Disney Springs is this Monday, June 27th. It is the newest Mexican restaurant by renown Chef Rick Bayless and hours are 11am until 11pm, seven days a week. The restaurant will also feature a Grab and Go window that offers guacamole and chips along with tacos.

Only walk-ups will be accepted until reservations become available on July 21, 2016. There was some confusion as Open Table was pre-maturely allowing reservations to be made as early as this weekend.  Guests should have been notified of cancellation.

Star Wars Pressed Coin Machines Debut at Disneyland Resort

Pressed coin collectors will be excited to hear that six new Star Wars inspired pressed coin souvenirs will debut at the Disneyland Resort this summer. The new pressed coin machines are available inside the Star Trader in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park.

Those who have joined the Resistance or find themselves using the Force to make their selection from the new quarter-pressed coins will not be disappointed. You’ll find Rey, Chewbacca and the Resistance symbol to help guide your way. If the dark side summons you, be prepared, as your quarter-press coin selections will include Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and the First Order symbol.

A video will soon appear on the main screen of the pressed coin machine that will help guide you in the right direction no matter where your loyalties lie. Choose wisely and complete your destiny!

The Wishes Fireworks Holiday Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace is now available to book during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, held on select nights at Magic Kingdom from November 7 through December 22, 2016. A valid ticket to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is required to attend the dessert party and is not included in the cost of the premium package.  Dinner reservations are also available during party nights at Cinderella’s Royal Table, Be Our Guest and The Crystal Palace Restaurant.

The Holiday Wishes Premium Package offers guests the chance to take in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade from a special reserved viewing location on Main Street, U.S.A. Then, after you’ve experienced this dazzling cavalcade of festive friends—each dressed in their holiday best—and enjoyed a visit from Jolly Old Saint Nick himself, you’re invited to a private dessert party! It’s the perfect place to treat your senses to fa-la-la-fantastic views of Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season fireworks bursting high above Cinderella Castle.

But that’s not all! There’s even more in store…

At a table decked with boughs of holly, discover a host of holiday-themed cupcakes and desserts freshly prepared by our pastry chef, along with a bountiful buffet of sweet treats—like chocolate-dipped strawberries, chocolate mousse, ice cream, cheeses and fresh, seasonal fruits.

The Holiday Wishes Dessert Premium Package is available on the following dates:

  • November 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 18, 27 and 29, 2016
  • December 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16, 28 and 22, 2016

Each premium package costs $79 for adults and $49 for children ages 3 to 9 (tax not included). Seating is available on a first-come, first served basis, although every table features views of Cinderella Castle.

Reservations can be booked online or by calling (407) 939-3463. Guests under 18 years of age must have parent or guardian permission to call. Guests who reserve the Holiday Wishes Dessert Premium Package can check in from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant. Upon check-in, you will receive an official credential for event identification.

A Happy HalloWishes Dessert Premium Package at Magic Kingdom is also available on select evenings from September 2 through October 31, 2016 during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Dinner reservations at Be Our Guest, Cinderella’s Royal Table and Crystal Palace are available during party nights, however a valid  party ticket is required.

Guests can enjoy a special reserved viewing location during Mickey’s “Boo-To-You” Halloween Parade followed by a private dessert party. Top the evening off with an amazing view of the Happy HalloWishes fireworks bursting above Cinderella Castle.

The Happy HalloWishes Dessert Premium Package costs $79 for adults or $47 for children (ages 3 to 9), plus tax. Seating is available on a first-come, first served basis. A separate Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket is also required and is not included in the price of the package.

The FuelRod kisoks will offer portable charging batteries for guests to purchase for $30.00. Which will include:

  • A portable charging battery
  • 6″ USB Type A to micro-USB cable (for most Android devices)
  • One Apple 30-pin to USB cable
  • One Apple Lightning to USB cable

The purchase is will not be a rental, you will own this after purchase.

I love that the FuelRod packs will include charging devices for both iPhone and Android. You can charge the batter yourself with the provided accessories or you may swap a depleted battery out for fully charged ones at any of these kiosks. Once purchased, the battery swap will not be an extra charge for you.

Pete’s Dragon trailer to begin showing in One Man’s Dream and Sunset Showcase Theater

If you’re looking for a great way to cool off this summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, then why not take a stroll through the air-conditioned One Man’s Dream? While you’re there, you’ll even have the chance to view the new Pete’s Dragon trailer, starting July 1st.

If you’re on the west coast you can catch the 10-minute trailer at Sunset Showcase theater in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure instead.

Disney has this to say about their upcoming film, being released on August 12th:

In “Pete’s Dragon,” old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children for years with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliot. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliot seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year- old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.

Pete’s dragon will open in theaters on August 12th, 2016. Will you be going to see it?

ABC’s The Chew to return to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival

Exciting news for all you foodies out there! The cast of ABC’s The Chew will once again be returning to Epcot to film 5 episodes during the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. The episodes will be taped October 5-7, 2016, and will air Oct 10-14, 2016 on ABC at 1pm EST. Not only will the show itself be taped directly in front of SpaceShip Earth, but the cast will be venturing around the parks and the Festival for extra footage for the show.  The entire core cast will be available during the taping, including Mario Batali, Michael Symon, Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly and Daphne Oz.

“We had a fantastic time filming our show last year at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and sharing the magic with Park guests and our home viewers. It’s the perfect pairing!” said Mark Schneider, executive producer of “The Chew.” “We look forward to returning for even more fun and great food with our fans and celebrity guests. For us, it’s a terrific way to kick off our new season.”

The Chew-inspired Food Booths will also be returning with The Chew Collective in the Next Eats festival area of Future World.  Guests will be able to sample dishes such as Grilled Beef Skewer with Romaine, Apricots and Feta Cheese; Ricotta and Zucchini Ravioli with Rustic Tomato Sauce and Peanut Butter and White Chocolate Mousse with a Caramel Drizzle. Guests will also have the chance to taste the Festival exclusive Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.

At the Festival Center, guests can watch screenings of “The Chew” show highlights, cooking and entertaining tips, and same-day episodes of “The Chew” Monday through Friday at 1 p.m.

Every year brings exciting changes to the theme parks, and 2016 is no exception. In the last few weeks:

  • Nighttime Awakenings has debuted at the Tree of Life. During evening hours, the centerpiece of Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park comes to life with stunning visuals in 3-minute spurts.
  • The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic show arrives to pay tribute to the popular film with special water and lighting effects, puppetry and musicians at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park.

Debuting in mid- and late-June are:

  • Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular, which will feature state-of-the-art projections, lasers, pyrotechnics, special effects and memorable moments from the famous films. It is now showing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®.
  • Frozen Ever After, a family-friendly attraction that will have guests setting sail in Arendelle aboard an ancient Norwegian vessel. The wondrous wintery world is planned to open June 21 at Epcot®.

Celebrate America this Independence Day at Walt Disney World with spectacular fireworks displays, patriotic Disney characters and live music.

Magic Kingdom Park

Ring in the occasion with a thrilling spectacular exploding with patriotic color and light. Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky will take place at Magic Kingdom on both July 3rd and 4th at 9:00pm. High above Cinderella Castle, you’re invited to watch in wonder as blazing fireworks ignite and fantastic effects light up the sky—all while a magnificent musical score surrounds you with the reverberations of triumph and joy.

Don’t miss out on the majesty when this lively tribute to the Stars and Stripes takes flight in an evening performance you won’t soon forget!

Epcot

See a new side of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth during a special Fourth of July showcase at 10:00pm on the 4th. Enjoy an enhanced take on this iconic Epcot experience featuring a stunning fireworks display that celebrates the planet’s past, present and future—along with something spectacular planned to highlight Independence Day!Be sure to stick around ‘til the very end of the show to catch a 5-minute patriotic fireworks finale called The Heartbeat of Freedom. It’s a one of-a-kind tribute to the Red, White and Blue!

Epcot will also feature a special “Voices of Liberty 4th of July Concert” that includes an expanded cast of a cappella singers on the American Gardens Theatre stage. The patriotic salute will include Disney characters and the Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corps. Performances will be held at 12:30pm, 1:45pm, 3:00pm, 4:15pm and 5:00pm. Spirit of America Fife and Drums Corp will perform at 1:00pm, 2:15, 3:30pm, 4:00pm and 4:45pm.

A Boston tribute band called Don’t Look Back will be performing as part of the Sounds Like Summer concert series at 5:15pm, 6:30pm, 7:45pm and 9:00pm.

Character dressed in patriotic costumes will appear on the promenade near the American Adventure throughout the day.

Hollywood Studios

The all new “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular” fireworks display will blast off at a special time of 9:30pm on July 3rd and 4th. The nighttime spectacular includes state of the art projection effects, dynamic lighting, lasers and pyrotechnics.

Recently I discovered these adorable Disney Car Air Fresheners by Aromadite on Etsy. I don’t just love them because they are extremely cute though. I love that they also freshen up the car, so it’s a dual purpose item. What can I say, I like to be functional.

Aromadite makes scented plaster ornaments for your car, in an assortment of Disney character options. You get to choose from the beautiful variety of fragrances offered, and then they create the ornament for you. The Aroma should last about 3-4 weeks. When the aroma does wear off, you can add a few drops of refill or even your favorite perfume to an unpainted section on the back of the item. Each order comes with a free 1ml refill, so you don’t have to worry about running out right away. They have a lovely array of scents to choose from, so there is sure to be something for everyone.
