Baseball World Champions Chicago Cubs Celebrate With A Trip to Disney World

Chicago Cubs at Disney

Chicago Cubs at Disney

“I’m Going to Disney World” was certainly a phrase uttered by key members of the Chicago Cubs who graced the Magic Kingdom with their presence complete with a ticker tape parade on the afternoon of Saturday  November 5th.

Championship MVP Ben Zobrist, Addison Russell and Javier Baez, all who helped Chicago to the World Championship earlier this week celebrated with their good pal Mickey Mouse as they made their way down Main Street USA to a large crowd of cheering fans dressed up in team colors for the occasion. Mickey and Goofy even used this as an opportunity to don their favorite baseball uniforms.

In addition to the parade, the players and their families had the day to enjoy some of their favorite attractions and were spotted throughout the park including a visit to Dumbo the Flying Elephant.

The parade is the latest in a long-line of special salutes given to sports champions who celebrate their victories by visiting these iconic theme parks. The “Going to Disney World” tradition dates back to 1987.

The Cubs turned the series around (they were down 3-1 in the best-of-seven series) to win Game 7 in 10 innings due in part to Ben Zobrist’s double in the 10th inning.

Russel and Baez were also both huge contributors throughout the Cubs Playoff games.  Russell hit a grand slam home run in Game 6 that helped to ensure they were able to make it to the all important game 7.  Baez was responsible for the Cub’s only home run in their 1-0 win over San Francisco in the National League Division series.

This Christmas Minnie Bow add the Perfect Touch of Sparkle

Christmas Minnie Bow

I love to add a touch of Disney sparkle to my every day life, but I love it even more at Christmas time! Come this time of year I’m all about all things Disney that are red, green and SPARKLY! This Christmas Minnie Bow by LiLSweetumsBowtique on Etsy is exactly what I need for my Holiday outfits this year.

The bow measures approx 4 in x 5 in and is attached to a partially lined 1 3/4 inch alligator clip. The Minnie head is made out of red glitter and resin with an adorable sprig of shiny green holly. If you’d rather have a green Mickey head with a red candy cane or bow you can message the designer for a special order. The bow it’s self is a gorgeous double layer, with a striped fabric and polka-dot fabric. The bow’s colors are chic Christmas colors that pop.

The designer has a couple of Christmas bows to choose from, each just as adorable as the last:

Drone Christmas Tree

Drone Christmas Tree

Here at Chip and Co, we reported last week that Disney was granted permission to use drones at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland.  It would seem that the permit was granted just in time for Disney to unveil a magical holiday experience happening at Disney Springs this Christmas Season.   You need to see it to believe it.  Check out this video:

This is the first of many ways that Disney fans will be able to see this technology used in the months ahead.  There is no word yet on when this new offering will be available but watch this space for further details!

The Difference a Month Can Make During Refurbishment at Hollywood Studios

20160905_112616-1

As we all eagerly await updates on the development of Toy Story Land, and Star Wars Land, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios we cannot help but notice the changes that are already taking place.  We reported earlier in September that the Streets of America are slowly disappearing as the building facades begin to come down.  The difference a month can make during a refurbishment is intriguing.

In early September the building facades from one side of the Streets of America had disappeared completely.  In late October we discovered that the New York City facade, to include the Empire State Building, have also disappeared.  You can see the side-by-side comparison in the photos from September, and then October, above.

As you approach, or exit Muppets Courtyard, there was a large gray building facade that blocked the view to the Streets of America, as seen in the first picture above.  Now, upon your approach to Muppets Courtyard, you can see clear through to the former Streets of America area as referenced above in the side-by-side photos of the same area.

In September the Writer’s Stop was still open for business and the construction walls were up just beyond the front steps.  Now, this month, the Writer’s Stop is closed. We were told that it is also undergoing refurbishment and will likely become a bar.  There is no official word from Disney regarding what will truly become of the Writer’s Stop.  For now, it is behind construction walls and you cannot enter from the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater as you could in the past.

We are quite stunned by the many changes that can take place to an area in a month’s time.  We will continue to watch this space as it undergoes its many changes.  Stay tuned here for future refurbishment updates.

What do you think of the refurbishment changes to the former Streets of America?  Please leave your comments in the box below.

Private Water Taxi Service Being offered at Grand Floridian

grand-floridian-resort-and-spa-00-full

For those guests who aren’t huge fans of waiting for Disney’s complimentary transportation to and from the parks, it appears there is a new options being offered to some resort guests. Guests at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa now have the option to purchase direct watercraft transportation to destinations around the Seven Seas Lagoon.

The service can accommodate up to 10 passengers per boat and costs $20 each way per family. The private experience is available throughout the day, based on availability. Reservations can be made by calling the recreation team at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort between 8AM and 6PM at 321-318-8212. Return service has to be booked separately, based on a availability, and may not be available from the Magic Kingdom.

The usual modes of transportation from the Grand Floridian are not affected by this new private water taxi service, and monorail, Buses and regular water craft are all still complimentary for guests of the resorts.

Will you be willing to try out this new service?

Sweet Crepes Have Returned to Seasonal Aristocrepes Kiosk

20161106_085816

Sweet Crepes have returned to the menu at the seasonal Aristocrepes Disney Springs kiosk.  In late October we reported that Aristocrepes was moving to a seasonal schedule.  We noted that the crepes would be available at Amorette’s Patisserie; and this is still true to some degree.  Amorette’s Patisserie is continuing to serve the meal crepes such as the ham and cheese crepe and the veggie crepe.

I decided to walk by the Aristocrepes kiosk on a recent visit to Disney Springs.  I noticed that the Aristocrepes signage was missing and the menu consisted of pretzels, popcorn, chips, wine, beer, alcoholic sodas, and non-alcoholic beverages.  As I walked over to the other side of the walkway, a gentleman arrived at the kiosk and removed the menus.  He then replaced the menus with a new menu that displays the return of the Sweet Crepes to this location. Apparently, the sweet crepes sell fairly well at this kiosk.

Amorette’s Patisserie is loaded with amazing sweet desserts.  I know that if I go to Amorette’s, I do not order crepes as the amazing sweet desserts on offer are beyond delicious.  This is likely a good call to add the Sweet Crepes back to the seasonal Aritocrepes kiosk.  Not only does it offer another option to the standard snack menu, it also offers something sweet to an otherwise primarily salty menu.

What do you think of the decision to add Sweet Crepes back to the menu at this kiosk?  Please leave your comments in the box below.
