The Polite Pig Restaurant to open in Disney Springs

Opening in Spring of 2017 in Disney Springs The Polite Pig woodfire kitchen will be serving up some of your favorite wood-fired smoked and grilled items.

Chef’s James and Julie Petrakis who are co owners of The Ravenous Pig and Cask & Larder in Winter Park will open The Polite Pig in Disney Springs as s sister restaurant for guests to enjoy while at Walt Disney World Resort.

The Polite Pig will feature a variety of wood-fired smoked and grilled items, as well as an “innovated beverage program” that serves all drinks on tap, including Cask & Larder beer, wine and cocktails. There will also be many menu items that feature local seasonal ingredients, with the possibility that the menu may change seasonally as well.

The restaurant is set to open later this year.

Orlando Eye gets rebranded as the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye

The Orlando Eye is a 400-foot observation wheel located in Orlando Florida on International Drive. The Orlando Eye opened in May of 2015, it is part of an entertainment complex which also includes Madame Tussauds wax museum and Sea Life Aquarium Orlando. They are all owned by Merlin Entertainments, a U.K.-based company. Merlin Entertainments also owns Legoland Florida Resorts.

The Orlando Eye is being rebranded as the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye, details about the re-branding will be announced at a media event on July 28^th by the observation wheel’s general manager, Robin Goodchild and senior customer marketing manager for The Coca-Cola Company, Desire Wilson.

Orlando Eye’s sister wheel, the Coca-Cola London Eye opened in 2000 as the London Eye, a temporary structure but became a permanent landmark on the Thames River at the heart of London.

The Orlando Eye has also become an iconic structure in Orlando, the lighting plans always reflect current events. Recently it was lit in rainbow colors for the mass shooting in Orlando, previously it was lit for the Paris shooting and the bombing in a Brussels airport.

Its finally here! Skull Island: Reign of Kong is now open at Universal’s Islands of Adventure! Guests of Islands of Adventures who were present at the opening were treated to a celebration as they entered the ride.

Skull Island: Reign of Kong is the newest ride at Universals Islands of Adventure revolving around King Kong. You will be joining the 8^th Wonder Expedition Company, a research team accompanying you on your journey through a mysterious world. You will discover creatures of unknown origin, you will find yourself in the middle of battles between giant and ferocious beasts and as they turn on you Kong makes his appearance. The three story tall Kong may be there to help, but were not too sure!

Premium Events at Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival Can Be Reserved Beginning July 21

Demonstrations, Seminars & Talks at Epcot

There are a number of premium events scheduled for the 21st Epcot International Food & Wine Festival that will take place from September 14 to November 14, 2016. Reservations for these events can be made beginning Thursday, July 21 at 7am by calling 407-WDW-FEST. Chase cardholders can book beginning at 7am on July 19th with limited availability.

The full lineup of events is available at epcotfoodfestival.com but here are a few of the highlights:

Four all-new interactive culinary adventures in the Disney resorts encourage guests to ask the experts, taste and cook alongside our chefs at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney Yacht Club Resort.

The new “Mix It, Make It Celebrate It” hands-on workshop gives guests the opportunity to learn from the pros – cake decorating, garnishing, cocktail mixing and other fun activities.

The always-popular Cheese Seminars return. Learn “the wheys of the world” paired with wine, beer and other beverages with Max McCalman along with other experts. Cheese Seminars will be held on select Saturdays from September 17 to November 5, 2016 at 9:15am to 10:45. The cost of $89 per guest, plus tax, gratuity included.

Rockin’ Burger Block Parties are back for just three Fridays at World ShowPlace – and each party features a celebrity chef and all-you-can-eat specialty sliders paired with beverages. Join Chef Maneet Chauhan on September 30, Chef Alex Seidel on October 14, and Chef Jehangir Mehta on November 11.’

You’ll want to masquerade in chic yellow and black for the Yelloween Masquerade Party for the Senses October 28 and 29, an elegant, dance-the-night-away, gourmet tasting party with Champagne, wine, craft beers and specialty cocktails paired with food. This year’s Party for the Senses will be every weekend in October (that’s it!). October 8 features all the new chefs from Disney Springs; October 15 is a reprise of last year’s popular evening with Disney chefs from around the world. Prices range from $169 – $329 per guest, plus tax, gratuity included.

What’s Cookin’ With … some of the country’s top celebrity chefs will begin the morning with a delightful plated brunch and sparkling wine toast. The fun starts with a demo, and the chefs answer questions from the audience and share secrets of their successes. The brunch is on select Fridays and Sundays from 9:15am to 10:45am and cost $129 per guest, plus tax, gratuity included.

New Pete’s Dragon Clips Released

“Pete’s Dragon” is now less than a month away from opening! The live action film is an imaginative re-telling of the 1967 Disney film, which was a mash-up of live action and hand-drawn animation. The new “Pete’s Dragon” is a mix of live action and CGI, directed by David Lowrey and the cast includes Robert Redford, Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, and Oona Laurence. “Pete’s Dragon” also includes a change that was surprising to many Disney fans: a furry dragon:

Park & transportation directions coming to My Disney Experience

In the next few weeks a new feature will be added to My Disney Experience which will help guests find directions when walking through the Disney theme parks as well as on Walt Disney World’s transportation.

The new feature, which is much like Universal Studios mobile application will help you get to rides, restaurants, shows and other in park locations. When you use it outside the theme park it will give you estimated transportation times for the buses, boats, and even the monorails.

This wonderful new feature will be accessed through the “get directions” tab and will be available after the My Disney Experience app update on July 14th.

Louis the Alligator debuts in Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire at Magic Kingdom

Louis the Alligator from The Princess and the Frog debuted yesterday in Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire at the Magic Kingdom. He was originally planned to be a part of the live stage show when it first premiered back on June 21st. However, Disney choose to postpone his part after the alligator attack that occurred a few days prior.

The crocodile portion of Electrical Water Pageant also returned to service earlier this week.
