True-Life Champion From Disney’s “Queen Of Katwe”

Disney has released photos of Phiona Mutesi and her coach Robert Katende with the mirror images of the actors who play them on screen, Madina Nalwanga and David Oyelowo in the new movie “Queen Of Katwe” as well as new TV Spots highlighting the improbable journey to become a champion.

The film starring Oyelowo, Lupita Nyong’o and Nalwanga is directed by Mira Nair and will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10. “Queen Of Katwe” is based on the true story of Phiona Mutesi, a young girl from the streets of rural Uganda who is introduced to the game of chess by Robert Katende, a former missionary and soccer coach, and goes on to become an international chess champion.

See How Disney Cruise Ships Scored During their Latest Site Inspection

The Center for Disease Control completes an unannounced site inspection twice a year on every ship that sails out of or into a United States port. The ship must receive a score of 85 or above on the U.S. Public Health Department’s Vessel Sanitation Program list of 44 items in order to pass inspection, with 100 considered a perfect score.

Disney Fantasy: Score of 100 on 3/30/16
Disney Magic: Score of 100 on 3/24/16
Disney Wonder: Score of 96 on 6/16/16

It’s safe to say that Disney Cruise Line is doing an excellent job of keeping their cruise ships sanitary. Only 23 ships have achieved perfect scores during 2016 so far with two out the four DCL ships scoring a perfect 100.

Challenge Locations Have Been Announced for #DisneyPhotoPassDay on August 19th

Tomorrow, August 19th, is #DisneyPhotoPassDay at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. Complete a Disney PhotoPass Challenge at each of the Disney Parks and receive a complimentary Disney PhotoPass photo! Participants at the Walt Disney World Resort will receive a voucher for one PhotoPass download and Disneyland Resort participants will receive a 5×7 print of a PhotoPass photo.

All you need to do is have your photo taken on Friday by a PhotoPass photographer at each of the designated challenge locations in a particular theme park. Visit the Disney PhotoPass Sales Center once you’ve stopped by all of the locations in that park in order to claim your free Disney PhotoPass photo.

The Disney PhotoPass Challenge is per park. If you decide to complete the challenge at the Magic Kingdom for example, then you would only need to visit the five locations in that park before visiting the designated Disney PhotoPass Sales Center.

Keira Knightly Joins The Cast For Disney’s Live Action Nutcracker

Disney’s adaptation of “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is quickly becoming a star-studded event! Keira Knightly joins Misty Copeland, Mackenzie Foy and Morgan Freeman in the Lasse Hallstrom directorial film. Knightly is said to be casted as the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Rumor has it, this version of “The Nutcracker” will not be a ballet, nor a musical. Although there will be one dance number featuring principal ABT dancer, Copeland.

I have a confession, I’m constantly playing games and surfing the web on my phone, while it’s plugged in charging. Which inevitably leads to me bending and breaking the charging cables. So it was time for me to find wire protectors to save me from myself, all of them seemed pretty plain, until I found these fun Disney Style Wire Protectors!

These adorable Disney themed cord protectors are lightweight, durable and will easily fit a variety of cord types. They can protect your phone, tablet, and electronic charging cables. They are also great for protecting earphone cords from dirt, frays, breakage and knots. You’ll also be able to stand out from others, with a fun variety of Disney themed clips. These clips are not only cute, but keep your cords organized too.

They take a little bit of DIY-ing to wrap the protector around the wire, but the end product is definitely worth it! The package will contain 3 different colored ropes in a matching theme. Steven Tyler Responds to Disney’s Removal of Hand Gesture From Rock n Roller Coaster

Yesterday it was reported that Disney had removed a hand gesture made by Steven Tyler on the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster pre-show. Which seemed like a bizarre move after the show had been around for so long. Today on Twitter Steven Tyler decided to respond to the removal. Warning, his response is not safe for work, or young eyes!

Is a new Guardians of the Galaxy Roller Coaster coming to Epcot?

Hey there guys and gals it is I Anonymouse! I am back delivering to you the best in Disney Gossip!

In news that doesn’t really interest me, WDW News Today is reporting that Disney is working on a replacement for Ellen’s Universe of Energy in Epcot. We reported gossip a few months ago about Disney doing a fun balloon measuring thing where they see how a new building would look in its place. Today the gossip is that a Guardians of the Galaxy ROLLER COASTER might be the replacement attraction. I am really not to happy about this change though. I really enjoyed the edutainment theme that Future World has always had.

Rumor has it, this ride will showcase elaborate scenes and a roller coaster portion similar to the proposed Captain America Coaster at California Adventure. Yawn, sounds a bit like the Harry Potter rides to me. Or maybe they’ll throw us all off, and do a Groot themed vine swing ride, ha! Now that sounds like fun, what do you think?

A new Patent Might Make Lightsaber Fighting More of a Reality

Many of us are eagerly awaiting the official grand opening of Star Wars Land in Disneyland and Walt Disney World. As the opening approaches we’re constantly finding out about more and more awesome things that Disney will have in store for us. Now it looks like there may have been patents filed that will make Lightsaber battles more realistic for guests.

According i09 a site called PatentYogi alerted them to a patent application, filed by Disney Enterprises. The application is for something called an “Audience Interaction Projection System.” The system will use flying drone technology with a system created to enable fans to deflect laser beams in real time, during interactions at the park.

The image above seems promising. i09 provided a description from the document:

An entertainment environment has a user with a faux light saber that interacts with a drone flying through the air or operated with hidden rods to appear as if its flying through the air. The faux light saber has LEDs attached thereto to provide IR light to the drone. As an LED is turned on, an invisible light sensor built into the drone captures an image of the field of view with a bright spot at the position of the activated LED. A visible light source built into the drone then projects light through particulate matter toward the faux lightsaber. As a result, the uses is provided with the illusion that the faux light saber has deflected a laser beam. Multiple LEDs can be activated in sequence at various times to give user the impression that the movement by the users of the faux light saber is deflecting multiple laser beams.

Pretty exciting sounding stuff, right? Although it’s a lot of techno talk, it’s pretty much saying that using this system, park guests can use lightsabers to deflect laserbeams. Drones will send light through a fog or dust so you can see it, and then the sabers will send it back. Right now however, it’s all just speculation. There is no official word that this will be for the Star Wars Land, but it seems to be the popular theory right now. This pairs with all the other exciting Star Wars Land news we’ve seen it looks like we’re in for a lot of surprises!
