Family files Bed bug lawsuit against Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa

In the summer of 2014 Joseph and Danielle Jones packed their three daughters into the car and headed from their home in San Leandro to Anaheim for a family vacation at Disneyland. However, the family allegedly got more then they asked for.

The Jones’s stayed at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa and first discovered a problem when their 9-year-old daughter was complaining about painful itchy bites on her face, but the family dismissed it without taking it too serious.

The next day the family was covered in bites and they went to complain at the front desk. From there they were told to talk with the hotel’s housekeeping department, which they did and were told it was mosquito bites and not bed bugs.

The bites had worsened over their vacation and on their way home they stopped by a hospital in Oakland where a Doctor told them the bites were from bed bugs. Once they returned home they threw out off of their clothing and anything else they had with them at the resort.

The Jones’s has recently filed a lawsuit this past Thursday which alleges battery, negligence, fraudulent concealment, nuisance and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress and seeks unspecified damages. The family has suffered emotional distress, physical pain and the youngest child is permanently scarred.

Prior to this lawsuit there were complaints of bed bugs on two separate website referring to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa.

Is a Sprinkles coming to Disneyland Downtown Disney?

14191684_10154007149263983_565566550_o

There has been no confirmation of this, but we heard through the grapevine that there is a rumor that a Sprinkles Cupcakes may be in the works for Downtown Disney Anaheim.

The Sprinkles Cupcakes location in Disney Springs at the Walt Disney World Resort has been hugely successful, so it seems to be a logical choice for Disneyland to jump on the bandwagon and open a location as well! I wonder if the Disneyland location will have a cupcake ATM too?

If we hear more, we will be sure to keep you posted!

Sam Mendes In Talks To Direct Live-Action “James And The Giant Peach”

News has just come out that Sam Mendes is in ‘very early’ talks with Disney to direct a live-action version of “James And The Giant Peach.” Talks are also happening with Nick Hornby to write the screenplay.

The original book, published in 1961, is centered on 4-year-old James Henry Trotter who lives in England with his loving parents until his parents are killed by a rhinoceros. He’s taken in by his two cruel aunts and leaves several years later thanks to an old man giving him magic crocodile tongues which produce a massive single peach — which contains human-like insects who befriend James.

Tim Burton directed the 1996 film version of the book. It was a combination of live action and stop motion. Produced by Burton and Denise Di Novi.

“James and the Giant Peach” is the latest in a growing number of live-action titles based on Disney animated films including “Maleficent,” “Cinderella” and “The Jungle Book.” The studio is developing live-action movies such as “The Little Mermaid” with Lin-Manuel Miranda, “Beauty and the Beast” starring Emma Watson and “Cruella” with Emma Stone.

Pumpkin Spice and Halloween season are quickly approaching! I’m of course already picking out fun Disney inspired seasonal decorations. My heart went BOO when I saw this adorable Wooden Mickey Mouse Halloween Sign by TheNevertreeHideaway on Etsy!

These Mickey Halloween inspired custom letters are a perfect addition for any home for the fall season. Each letter approximately 7 – 9 1/2 inches tall and 1 inch thick. They are all hand painted with adorable embellishments. You can even purchase a stand for the letters. What’s great is you don’t have to get “BOO”, you can get your initials, family name or other words decorated in spooky Mickey themed designs. I think these wooden letters are just BOO-tiful! If you’re more of a Tim Burton fan for halloween they also have Nightmare Before Christmas wooden letter signs available too!

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s five people were scammed into buying fake Disneyland theme park tickets by Brian Edward Anderton, 43, of Pasadena CA.

Anderton was charged on five accounts ranging from grand theft to petty theft for selling fake tickets. He pleaded not guilty on all charges.

Anderton allegedly earned more than $2,400.00 between the months of January and August selling the fraudulent tickets through Craiglist.

The fake tickets were only discovered once the buyers tried to enter the theme park at Disneyland to use the tickets.

If convicted, Anderton faces five years in prison.

Fantastic Sandtastic Weekends at Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin

Sandtastic

Sandtastic

Fantastic Sandtastic Weekends have begun at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort.  The sand sculpture, located on the beach area near the main pool, will be on display from August 26th through September 4th.  Sand Sculptors of Team Sandtastic will be on site conducting sand sculpting demonstrations both weekends.  This event is free and open to all visitors who wish to stop by and see the sand sculpture featuring many of your favorite iconic Disney characters.

Team Sandtastic has been at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin since the early part of the week.  They have been preparing for the Sandtastic Weekends by working on their sand art sculpture in order for the fans to have something to see when Sandtastic weekends officially opened on Friday, August 26th.  The sand art sculpture is a work in progress and I plan to go by again next weekend to see how it all turned out.  I was amazed at how much they have already accomplished in just three short days.

Mark Mason, who is the owner and operator of Team Sandtastic, along with his team of sculptors, will be on hand to meet fans.  They will be conducting sand sculpting demonstrations August 26, 27, & 28 as well as September 2, 3, & 4.  Visitors are welcome to come by and observe as the sand sculptors build this amazing sand art sculpture.  There is no cost for this event.

One of my big questions for Mark Mason was, “How does the sand sculpture not just wash away in the rain?”  The reason for my question is that it was raining quite hard upon my arrival, and yet the sand sculpture maintained its form!  The answer is that the sand sculptors spray a mixture of Elmers Glue and water as they complete small sections of the sculpture.  Mark also informed me that the sand is like a dry sponge, the sand absorbs the water as it trickles down through the dense sand, and it would take a lot of long-term heavy rain to cause the sculpture to become washed out.

Team Sandtastic does not disappoint!  There are already a number of iconic Disney characters taking form in the sand.   Mark Mason assured me that we will see many more Disney characters before the completion of this amazing sculpture.  I saw Patriotic Donald come to life before my eyes, as created by sand sculptor Steve.  Minnie Mouse is nearly complete in her traditional polka-dot dress, gloves, and bow.  After all, what would Minnie Mouse be without her dots and bows?  Timothy Q. Mouse, from Dumbo, is complete and has his space just to the bottom right, of the central focal point, of the sand sculpture.

If you are in the Walt Disney World area between now and September 4th, you must stop by the Swan & Dolphin Resort to check out this event.  Come meet the Sandtastic Team, learn about how to create sand sculptures, and watch as this massive sand sculpture comes to life.  I can assure you that Sandtastic Weekends are Fantastic.  You will not be disappointed if you have to opportunity to come by and see this amazingly creative sand sculpture.
