Disney testing 2nd Guest Relations location in Tomorrowland

If you have ever needed anything in Magic Kingdom you are aware of the extreme lines at guest relations which is at the beginning of Main Street, USA.

Well Disney realized the lines went on forever and they are now testing out an additional guest relations area at the Tomorrowland Light and Power Co. in Tomorrowland. At present time there are cast members located at this new guest relations area from 10:00am until 7:00pm; they can help you out with things such as dining reservations, tickets, special events or anything else you may need help with.

This area is supposed to be available until the first week in October. We are not sure what will happen in this area after that. Personally I think it is a great idea to add an additional guest service to this theme park.

As we find out more information we will bring it to you!

The Walt Disney Family Museum second annual fundraising gala that is happening on to November 1st has announced it’s Master of Ceremonies – Neil Patrick Harris .

Neil Patrick Harris, a well known Disney fan, host of past Candlelight Processions and featured on Disneyland’s 60th celebration World of Color show said this regarding his participation:

“As a massive Disney fan, I am honored to be able to carry on the renowned legacy of the man who made it all possible – Walt Disney himself – and support The Walt Disney Family Museum for its second annual gala to help foster the next generation of creative talent while honoring Disney Legend, Marty Sklar for his outstanding achievements.”

Disney’s “A Wrinkle In Time” Finds Its Lead

The Walt Disney Studios conducted a worldwide search for the coveted role of Meg Murry, the lead character in Disney’s live action adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s “A Wrinkle In Time”. The announcement just came down that the character will be played by 13-year-old Storm Reid.

Said director Ava DuVernay,”After an extensive search that spanned multiple dimensions, we’re overjoyed to welcome Storm Reid to “Wrinkle In Time” as our beloved “Meg.” Storm is a tremendously talented young actress who embodies the hopes, dreams and spirit of a character much loved by audiences worldwide for generations. I can’t wait to work with Storm as we chronicle Meg’s epic quest, alongside Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling as Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit and Mrs. Who. Tesser well!”

Reid’s first theatrical film role was in the Academy Award-winning “12 Years A Slave” where she played Emily. Most recently, she filmed a starring role in Judy Greer’s directorial debut “A Happening Of Monumental Proportions” (Release 2017), alongside Allison Janney, Common and Bradley Whitford.

Reid joins a cast which already includes Oprah Winfrey in the role of Mrs. Which, Reese Witherspoon in the role of Mrs. Whatsit and Mindy Kaling in the role of Mrs. Who. The actors shared the official news on Twitter.

The film is directed by Ava DuVernay (“Selma”) from a script by Jennifer Lee (“Frozen”). Jim Whitaker and Catherine Hand are producing the film, which will begin production later this year.

Is the Zika virus scare keeping guests away from Walt Disney World?

There have been two recent studies done by Civic Science which show that there are a large number of would be park go-ers not visiting Walt Disney World due to the Zika virus scare.

In the first survey 2592 people were polled, the second survey had had about 5000 people questioned. Around 85% of those surveyed had no plans of going to Walt Disney World. From the 15% of people who were planning to visit the parks half of them have either canceled their booked trips or planned to vacation somewhere else. Their decisions were based on the Zika virus scare.

Investment firm BTIG analyst Rich Greenfield says that there are a few big concerns, one the bigger spenders (those making over 150 thousand a year) are 61% more likely to cancel. Another concern is Disney is not discussing this issue and with customers booking so far in advance it is difficult to assess the impact this will have on Disney.

BTIG is focusing on the Orlando travel as a whole, although it is not all due to the Zika virus. The Pulse nightclub shooting and the slowdown of the Brazilian economy are factors as well. However the website Visit Orlando said they are not seeing a slowdown in tourist visiting the area.

Disney spokeswoman Rena Langley says there has not been an impact on future bookings or cancellations due to the Zika virus.

Orlando has reported any Zika cases as of yet still Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld are providing free mosquito repellent all throughout the parks and in the resorts.

Walt Disney Company continuing to layoff employees

Recently Walt Disney Company has laid off close to 250 people from within all different departments of the company. This is the second time since August there has been layoffs. The last set of layoffs were focused on the Disney Imagineering division of designers and builder.

The recent group of those laid off represent 5% of the interactive and consumer products divisions.

Also affected were employees of Disney’s interactive team, those employees worked in the recently closed Disney Infinity area that left 300 people without a job. Those based in the studios in Washington who worked “Marvel: Avengers Alliance.” were also affected when Disney made the decision earlier this year to move away from creating in-house video games, instead choosing to rent their characters out.

These departments had two down quarters, the second fiscal quarter there was an 8% decrease with a reported income of $357 million. The third fiscal quarter was down 7% reporting $324 million.

Walt Disney World Company is claiming the decrease is due to the decrease in merchandise licensing.

Worldwide Walt Disney World Company employees 180,000 people.

‘Tis The Season For Disney Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows

Everywhere we look we are seeing signs of Autumn. The changing colors of the leaves outdoors, products flavored with pumpkin spice, and Halloween treats. Autumn is the time of year that I enjoy my absolute favorite hot beverage. ‘Tis the season for hot chocolate!

There is nothing more relaxing than a mug of hot chocolate on a cool Autumn night. I found this fun witches cauldron in the Mouse Gear shop while visiting Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort. I was delighted to discover that the cauldron holds hot chocolate mix and marshmallows. The cauldron gives this special treat a very festive appearance with its Mickey Mouse jack-o-lantern ears adorning the brim. After preparing and drinking the hot chocolate, the cauldron can be used around the home as a decorative element to hold worms, spiders, Halloween candy, or other fun Autumn items. The hot chocolate cauldron is available for purchase at shops around the four Walt Disney World Resort Parks, Resort Shops, and at the Shop Disney Parks app. Happy Autumn!

2017 dates announced for Night of Joy at Walt Disney World Resort

Just as 2016’s Night of Joy at the ESPN Wide World of Sports winds down we find out the news for next year!

The dates for next year’s Night of Joy will be September 8th and 9th back at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. Also coming back for next year are Night of Joy All Stars’ MercyMe.

Spooktacular Halloween Disney Car Antenna Toppers

I think my car might be feeling left out of all of the Disney Halloween decorations going into the house. I guess the best way to solve that, is to get some cute Halloween Disney Car Antenna Toppers!

Disney makes changes to Magic Kingdom and Epcot Smoking Locations

Recently Disney has made changes to the smoking locations around Epcot and Magic Kingdom.

The smoking areas in Magic Kingdom are as followed:

Removed were the areas near the entrance to Adventureland and in Tomorrowland near Space Mountain.

The areas you can smoke are in Storybook Circus along the path to Tomorrowland, in Frontierland across from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and they added the area outside the park near to the Ferryboat queue.

The smoking areas in Epcot are as followed:

Removed was the area near Morocco, the International Gateway, and the spot near Mexico.

The areas you can smoke are in the France pavilion, which now joins Italy and the area between Norway and China. Also at the entrance to the Rose Garden walkway in World Showcase. In Future World you can smoke near Mission Space and at The Land pavilions.

Make sure you are watching where the signs are or you will be asked to put your cigarette out.

ABC’s hit series “black-ish” will kickoff this new season with a very VIP episode.

Dre decides to take his family to Walt Disney World on the magical, first-class vacation experience he was never able to have as a kid. With the help of a VIP tour guide (played by Jim Rash), Dre and the kids take full advantage of their VIP status. Meanwhile, Bow, Pops and Ruby set off on their own adventure at Walt Disney World.

ABC shared some photos from the episode ‘VIP’ which will air on Sept 21st. The filming took place at all four parks at Walt Disney World in August this summer.

Moana’s New Poster And Trailer!

This morning, Dwayne Johnson revealed exclusively on his Instagram page, the new poster for Disney’s “Moana”. He also announced that the brand new trailer will debut this Thursday, which is this morning.

“Moana” is coming to theaters in 3D this Thanksgiving featuring Johnson as the voice of Maui.
