This year, as part of Disney’s “Share the Joy” campaign, Disney|ABC Television Group will encourage its audiences across multiple platforms to “Share the Joy” through themed programming on ABC’s “The Chew,” which will kick off the campaign on today’s show, “General Hospital,” Freeform’s “Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?” and multiple Disney Channel series including “Girl Meets World,” “Bizaardvark,” “Liv and Maddie: Cali Style” and “BUNK’D.” Additionally, two series of inspiring public service announcements (PSAs) will motivate families to get involved with Feeding America and Toys for Tots this holiday season. The PSAs will be presented across multiple platforms including ABC, Freeform, Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD through December. Also, ABC owned television stations in local markets will host volunteer events at food banks and toy drives throughout their communities and they will feature news segments highlighting the importance of giving back and volunteerism.

As part of “Share the Joy,” Disney will support Family Volunteer Day to demonstrate and celebrate the power of families who volunteer together. LEGOLAND Beach Retreat Celebrates Construction Milestone as The Lighthouse Shines for the First Time

2016-11-03-07_21_14-legoland-florida-resort

The beacon of LEGOLAND® Florida Resort’s second on-site accommodations has arrived. When LEGOLAND Beach Retreat opens in mid-2017, The Lighthouse will tower more than 45 feet over the first-of-its-kind vacation resort, a centrally located icon that will be home to a restaurant, pool bar and a giant sandcastle-themed LEGO® building area for kids.

LEGOLAND Florida Resort recently celebrated a key construction milestone by lighting the rotating, energy-efficient LED light inside the red-and-white striped tower for the first time on a recent evening.

2016-11-03-07_15_05-legoland-florida-resort

Meanwhile, new details about LEGOLAND Beach Retreat were revealed today, including restaurant names and guest amenities. Sandy’s Castle Restaurant will feature a bountiful menu of creative cuisine designed to please the palates of kids and grownups alike. A delicious breakfast is included with each night’s stay at LEGOLAND Beach Retreat; lunch and dinner will be available without reservations.

At Brick’s Beach Bar, guests can choose from a menu of made-to-order food, drinks and creative cocktails served both poolside and indoors. Nearby, savvy shoppers will find the perfect souvenir at a large retail shop stocked with LEGO building sets, apparel, toys, swimwear, snacks and sundries.

Beyond The Lighthouse, construction continues on schedule for the site’s eagerly awaited debut next year. Concrete has been poured at what will be the largest themed resort pool on property, the highlight of an outdoor oasis that will include a large sandy play area. Guests will enjoy a wide variety of poolside activities that are expected to include sandcastle building, beanbag toss and much more.

Unlike the five-story LEGOLAND Hotel, LEGOLAND Beach Retreat features a village-style layout with 83 beach-themed bungalows offering 166 separate rooms, each with whimsical LEGO décor inside and out. The brightly colored bungalows are grouped into 13 sections, each named after a popular LEGO Minifigure including Shark Suit Guy, Ocean King and Sea Captain. Each centers around an outdoor play area with fun and challenging elements, all within view of the bungalows’ shaded patios, where parents can put their feet up, kick back and relax while kids play.

Conveniently located adjacent to the popular theme park, LEGOLAND Beach Retreat combines the fun of surf and sand with the creativity of LEGO building sets, and will offer picturesque views of Lake Dexter from nearly every sun-kissed corner.  All guests enjoy early access to the theme park, with exclusive use of some of the most popular attractions.

Reservations currently are available for stays from June 1 through Nov. 30, 2017.  To make a reservation at LEGOLAND Beach Retreat, visit www.LEGOLAND.com/florida. Room rates start at $135 and vary by season, date and availability.  Packages including theme park tickets are also available. Grand opening festivities and additional amenities will be announced at a later date.

“A Wrinkle In Time” Has Started Production

A Wrinkle In Time

“Wrinkle In Time” production kicks off tomorrow in Los Angeles starring Oprah Winfrey as Mrs. Which, Reese Witherspoon as Mrs. Whatsit, Mindy Kaling as Mrs. Who, Chris as Mr. Murry, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Mrs. Murry, Zach Galifianakis as The Happy Medium, André Holland as Principal Jenkins, Levi Miller as Calvin, Deric McCabe as Charles Wallace, and introducing Storm Reid as the iconic literary character Meg Murry. Bellamy Young, Rowan Blanchard and Will McCormack round out the highly acclaimed cast.

“Since Day One, this experience has shimmered with the promise and possibility, the passion and power that only great stories offer,” said Ava DuVernay (Director). “And Madeline L’Engle’s book is a great story indeed. A cool, quirky tale of an imperfect girl on an otherworldly expedition that has been praised and banned, dissected and celebrated the world over for more than 50 years. On behalf of all the filmmakers, artists and craftspeople in our ‘Wrinkle in Time’ family, we are genuinely thrilled by and truly grateful for the opportunity to make this film together.”

First published in 1962, L’Engle’s novel has sold more than 23 million copies worldwide, receiving a recent surge following Chelsea Clinton’s mention during the Democratic National Convention. Winner of the Newbery Prize in 1963, “A Wrinkle in Time” has been translated into 35 languages.

“A Wrinkle in Time” builds on Disney’s strong track record of re-imagining classic stories for a contemporary audience, with recent examples including “The Jungle Book,” “Maleficent” and the upcoming “Beauty and the Beast.”

Directed by DuVernay, the film is produced by Jim Whitaker (“Pete’s Dragon”) and Catherine Hand from a script written by Jennifer Lee (“Frozen”). Principal photography will take place primarily in California with two weeks of production in New Zealand.

Ava DuVernay’s creative team also includes director of photography Tobias A. Schliessler (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Mr. Holmes”), production designer Naomi Shohan (“Training Day,” “American Beauty,”), costume designer Paco Delgado (“The Danish Girl,” “Les Miserables”) and visual effects supervisor Rich McBride (“The Revenant,” “Gravity”).

“Finding Dory’s” Octopus Hank’s Fun Facts

finding dory fdcs Hank dcp103.per16n.103

FINDING DORY - HANK (voice of Ed O’Neill) is an octopus. Actually, he’s a “septopus”: he lost a tentacle—along with his sense of humor—somewhere along the way. But Hank is just as competent as his eight-armed peers. An accomplished escape artist with camouflaging capabilities to boot, Hank is the first to greet Dory when she finds herself in the Marine Life Institute. But make no mistake: he’s not looking for a friend. Hank is after one thing—a ticket on a transport truck to a cozy Cleveland facility where he’ll be able to enjoy a peaceful life of solitude. ©2016 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

Ever want to know more about details and weird facts about the work that went in to creating Finding Dory’s favorite Octopus, Hank? Well, here’s some great new Fun Facts and a bonus clip about we thought you’d enjoy!

HANKS FUN FACTS

LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN – When designers were working on Hank, the cantankerous octopus in “Finding Dory,” they created tapered tentacles for the cephalopod. The tentacles were modeled separately from the body, but when they tried to attach them, only seven would fit. Filmmakers later decided that it made sense that Hank would have an affliction, so they worked it into the script.

350
suckers are found on Hank: 50 suckers on each of his seven arms.

11,041
rigging prims were created just for Hank’s simulation (the average character requires around 20).

118
weeks were required of the team of technical directors who were responsible for building and articulating Hank.

22
weeks were spent shading Hank to give him extra texture and color, as well as making it possible for him to camouflage himself. (An average character takes less than eight weeks.)
