Stitch Slays the “Lion King” Homage in New Live-Action Trailer
Disney has just dropped a hilarious clip from the upcoming live-action “Lilo & Stitch” film, and it’s pure chaotic magic. The scene perfectly parodies a classic “Lion King” moment – you know the one, where Simba is presented to the animal kingdom.
But here’s the twist: it’s Stitch, our beloved blue alien, taking center stage. Complete with inflatable pool floaties, he’s hoisted into the air, much to his dismay. The result? Pure, unadulterated Stitch-style chaos as he wiggles, squirms, and ultimately splashes down into the ocean.
This isn’t the first time “Lilo & Stitch” has playfully referenced “The Lion King.” Back in 2002, a featurette showed Rafiki attempting to present Stitch on Pride Rock, only to be met with confusion and a resounding “Nope!” from Timon.
Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp and penned by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, Dean DeBlois, and the original creator himself, Chris Sanders, the new “Lilo & Stitch” boasts a stellar cast. Returning favorites include Tia Carrere as Mrs. Kekoa, Chris Sanders voicing Stitch, and Amy Hill as Tūtū. Making her acting debut, Maia Kealoha shines as Lilo, alongside Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis.
The original “Lilo & Stitch” captured hearts worldwide in 2002, becoming a beloved family classic. Its heartwarming story of an unlikely friendship between a lonely Hawaiian girl and a mischievous alien continues to resonate with audiences today. The 2003-2005 Disney Channel series further expanded the “Lilo & Stitch” universe, delighting viewers with the daily adventures of Lilo, Stitch, and their quirky crew.
Get ready to experience the magic once again! The live-action “Lilo & Stitch” is set to surf into theaters on May 23, 2025.
Disney World Passholders Get a Sneak Peek at 2025 Exclusive Merch
Walt Disney World Annual Passholders got an early holiday surprise with a sneak peek at three exclusive merchandise items for 2025. The items, a T-shirt, ball cap, and water bottle, were revealed in The Passholder Buzz on My Disney Experience.
The merchandise features a sleek black design with a vibrant color palette. The centerpiece of the design is Cinderella Castle, adorned with colorful fireworks and twinkling stars. The year “2025” is prominently displayed, along with the words “Passholder” and “Walt Disney World.”
A standout feature of the T-shirt is its glow-in-the-dark design, adding a magical touch to the nighttime park experience. The ball cap and water bottle mirror the T-shirt’s design, with the castle, fireworks, and year prominently featured.
While the items were revealed in a festive stocking, it’s important to note that the stocking itself is not a merchandise item. Passholders can look forward to adding these limited-edition items to their Disney collections in 2025.

Universal Has Filed Patents for Two Advanced Ride Systems
Universal Parks & Resorts is taking theme park innovation to the next level with two newly filed patents that could revolutionize ride experiences. The first patent introduces a “round ride system” with a dynamic twist, while the second focuses on enhancing show set technology for seamless storytelling. These cutting-edge designs hint at Universal’s ongoing commitment to pushing boundaries and creating unforgettable guest experiences.
The first patent outlines a “round ride system” featuring vehicles attached to arms on a central wheel. At first glance, it may seem reminiscent of traditional attractions like Dumbo the Flying Elephant, but Universal’s design takes it to the next level with a two-drive system. This allows each arm to operate independently from the center wheel, enabling the vehicles to extend, retract, change angles, and even spiral.
The result? A unique ride experience every time. Guests could find themselves soaring in new patterns, with dynamic movement that adds layers of unpredictability and thrill. This innovative approach combines the nostalgic charm of a round ride with cutting-edge mechanics to deliver something entirely fresh.
Real-Time Show Set Handoff
Universal’s second patent focuses on perfecting the art of immersive storytelling. Dubbed the “real-time proximity operation and object handoff,” this system allows for large show elements, such as props or set pieces, to be seamlessly transferred between moving platforms or robotic arms. Using advanced sensors to monitor and adjust positions, the system ensures smooth transitions as the elements are handed off during the ride or show.
This technology could transform live-action experiences by creating fluid, synchronized movements between show components, immersing guests in a cohesive world. Imagine a scene where a massive set piece glides into view without any noticeable shift or pause, enhancing the realism and flow of the story.
Both patents showcase Universal’s dedication to redefining what’s possible in theme park entertainment. The “round ride system” offers the thrill of unpredictability, while the real-time handoff technology could elevate storytelling to unprecedented heights. These advancements may set the stage for new attractions or updates to existing rides, further cementing Universal’s reputation as a leader in immersive, technology-driven experiences.
While Universal has not yet revealed where or when these patents might be implemented, the possibilities are exciting. Fans can look forward to a future filled with unique ride experiences and seamless storytelling that blurs the line between imagination and reality.
Disney Files Patent for Advanced Ride System Featuring Guest-Controlled Movement
Disney is once again innovating in the world of theme park attractions, filing a new patent for a groundbreaking “rider-controlled amusement park ride.” According to reporting by he Orlando Business Journal, this latest design integrates a force sensor within the ride vehicle, allowing guests to adjust the vehicle’s position or speed in real time by leaning forward or applying pressure to the sensor. The patent illustration showcases a vehicle reminiscent of a hang-glider, similar to those used in Disney’s iconic Soarin’ attractions. However, this technology has the potential to be applied across various types of vehicles, paving the way for more interactive and personalized ride experiences.
This patent follows another significant filing from April of this year, which detailed a potential revamp of the flying theater technology that powers Soarin’. In that earlier design, Disney outlined plans for a reimagined ride vehicle capable of delivering a more dynamic and “aggressive” experience. The patent described a system where riders could feel dips, dives, rolls, and even simulated turbulence as a cable-propelled vehicle navigates a curved track, tilting, pitching, and rolling to mimic the unpredictability of flight. This innovation could elevate the immersive experience of attractions like Soarin’ by offering a wider range of motion and more thrilling flight simulations.
While it remains to be seen how and when these technologies will be implemented, one thing is clear: Disney’s commitment to storytelling through cutting-edge ride systems is stronger than ever. Fans of the parks can eagerly anticipate how these concepts might transform their favorite attractions—or inspire entirely new ones.
The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom Closing for Refurbishment in January 2025
The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom will temporarily close for refurbishment starting January 20, 2025, according to the Walt Disney World refurbishment calendar. While Disney has yet to announce a specific reopening date, this closure aligns with the attraction’s tradition of updating its lineup following the inauguration of a new U.S. president.
The Liberty Square attraction is renowned for its lifelike animatronics of all U.S. presidents. Each figure is introduced with painstaking detail, and updates to the attraction have been a consistent part of Disney’s commitment to keeping the experience current. The most recent refurbishment occurred in 2021, when President Joe Biden was added, closing the Hall on January 20 and reopening on August 3 of that year. Similarly, during Donald Trump’s first term, the Hall closed on January 17, 2017, and reopened on December 18, 2017, with his animatronic debut.
This refurbishment poses a unique scenario, as Donald Trump is the first former president to return to office, raising questions about how Disney will approach his animatronic figure. Will Disney create an entirely new model and voiceover, or will the attraction reuse the recording and animatronic from his first term? The answer remains to be seen, but this update will undoubtedly add another layer of historical significance to the already iconic Hall of Presidents. The approach taken will also greatly impact the length of the attractions closure.
Guests planning to visit Magic Kingdom in early 2025 should note this closure and stay tuned for updates on the attraction’s reopening. In the meantime, the Hall of Presidents continues to stand as a tribute to the rich history of the U.S. presidency, capturing the spirit of democracy through innovative storytelling and technology.

Disneyland Reaches $233 Million Settlement in Minimum Wage Lawsuit
After a five-year legal battle, Disney has agreed to pay $233 million settlement for a class-action lawsuit filed by over 50,000 underpaid Disneyland workers.
Attorney Randy Renick expressed satisfaction with the settlement, stating that it will provide substantial financial benefits to the affected workers and their families. The lawsuit was a direct result of Anaheim’s Measure L, which mandated a $15 minimum wage for businesses receiving tax breaks. In response, Disney took steps to avoid the mandate, including ending subsidies for a luxury hotel and advocating for the end of the entertainment tax moratorium.
A group of Disneyland workers filed a class-action lawsuit, alleging that Disney received over $200 million in tax breaks while underpaying its employees. The workers, who earned between $12 and $14.25 per hour, claim that Disney violated minimum wage laws.
Disney initially argued that it wasn’t subject to Measure L, a local ordinance mandating a $15 minimum wage for businesses receiving tax breaks. While a lower court initially sided with Disney, a state appeals court later ruled that Disney’s 1996 tax breaks constituted a subsidy, making the company eligible for the higher minimum wage. Following this ruling, Disney and worker representatives have reached a $233 million settlement.
Disneyland Reduces Fantasmic Performances Again in Early 2025
Disappointing news for “Fantasmic!” fans. Disneyland has cut back on the number of performances scheduled for the new year.
Related –
Disneyland has made adjustments to the “Fantasmic!” performance schedule for the 2024 holiday season. The show will not perform daily and will have limited performances in January.
There seems to be some inconsistency in the “Fantasmic!” Dining Package calendar on the Disneyland app. While the official calendar indicates a performance on Monday, January 6th, it’s not currently available for booking with a dining package. The majority of performances are scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through February 16th, with showtimes at 9 PM and 10:30 PM.
“Fantasmic!” made a triumphant return to Disneyland in May 2024, despite a fire that damaged the Maleficent dragon. However, the show has faced several technical challenges, from rogue fireworks to a malfunctioning Mickey’s finger firework. To mitigate these issues, pyrotechnics were limited for three months.
Disneyland has made significant cuts to its entertainment offerings. “Fantasmic!” performances have been reduced, the Spider-Man Stuntronic show has lost its union stunt actors, and “Dr. Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts” has closed permanently. Additionally, performances of “Warriors of Wakanda” and Citizens of Buena Vista Street have been scaled back.
Have you had a chance to experience Fantasmic at Disneyland?
