Universal Studios Hollywood Completes Track for “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” Coaster
The race is almost ready to begin! According to a new report from KTLA, Universal Studios Hollywood has officially completed track installation for its all-new roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift. This high-octane thrill ride marks a major milestone for the park, as it will be Universal Studios Hollywood’s first-ever high-speed outdoor coaster—and it’s already revving up major excitement.
Universal promises this won’t be your typical coaster. Hollywood Drift will feature cutting-edge technology that’s never before been used in a roller coaster, immersing guests deep into the Fast & Furious universe with all the intensity and adrenaline of the blockbuster films. Riders will launch from the Upper Lot and dive into the Lower Lot, navigating a dynamic course of banked turns, inversions, and a showstopping loop around the iconic Starway escalators.
What sets this attraction apart is the innovation behind the ride vehicles. Each coaster car will be able to rotate 360 degrees, simulating the signature drifting action that defines the Fast & Furious franchise. It’s a fully immersive, high-speed chase where you’ll feel like you’re part of the crew.
The ride’s experience begins even before you buckle in. The queue will wind through a bold, red-brick garage-style building on the Upper Lot, designed to echo the gritty street-racing garages seen in the films. The ride vehicles themselves will be modeled after the souped-up, street-legal speed machines fans know and love.
While Universal hasn’t pinned down an exact opening date yet, they’ve confirmed Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will debut in 2025. In the meantime, the park is already addressing concerns about the potential for noise from the coaster. To minimize disruption to nearby neighborhoods, Universal has implemented several features: the ride’s spinning cars are designed to rotate away from residential areas during high-energy moments, the track is filled with pea gravel to muffle sound, and two half-pipe shields will help contain the screams of thrill-seekers.

For those sailing in style, you’ll be wowed by the new funnel suite, a luxurious addition themed to Sorcerer Mickey, featuring enchanting touches that pay tribute to the iconic magician’s hat moment from Fantasia. This massive suite, situated in the ship’s forward funnel, is two stories and sleep up to 8 Guests in two main bedrooms, a library with a queen-sized wall bed, and a children’s room with bunks! The suite also contains 4.5 bathrooms, providing plenty of space to get ready. Reservations for the new suite are available for sailings beginning December 4, 2025.
The ship’s concierge lounge is also being reimagined with a touch of the divine—think airy elegance inspired by Disney’s Hercules. It’s a space worthy of the gods.

Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland Gets Scrim for Refurbishment
To enhance the guest experience during its facade refurbishment, the Golden Horseshoe restaurant in Disneyland Park has been outfitted with a themed scrim, effectively masking the presence of metal scaffolding surrounding the building.
Despite the ongoing facade refurbishment at Disneyland Park’s Golden Horseshoe for several weeks, a new themed scrim has finally been installed, wrapping the building. This marks a visual improvement for guests, as the metal scaffolding that previously encircled the structure was openly visible above the construction barriers.
Continuing the trend of immersive refurbishment coverings seen earlier this year at Disneyland Resort’s Jolly Holiday Bakery and Elias & Co, the scrim now enveloping the Golden Horseshoe is a clever visual trick. It replicates the restaurant’s usual tan and orange walls, complete with red curtains partially drawn across the windows, and proudly showcases the white and gold Golden Horseshoe sign on every visible side.
While undergoing facade repairs, The Golden Horseshoe continues to welcome guests. The brown construction walls enclosing most of the building feature an opening at the corner, providing access to the restaurant’s main entrance. Prominent signs along the construction perimeter assure visitors, “We’re Open!”
The themed scrim completely encloses all three sides of The Golden Horseshoe, effectively obscuring the ongoing facade refurbishment from guest view. Notably, the scrim extends right up to the entrance of the adjacent Stage Door Cafe on the right side. While the facade work is anticipated to continue for several more weeks, The Golden Horseshoe is expected to maintain its regular operating hours. It’s worth noting that the restaurant underwent a previous refurbishment in the fall of 2023, which primarily focused on interior enhancements, including the installation of new flooring.
Big Al Carvings Debut at Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree
Beloved Country Bear Jamboree character Big Al has made a charming appearance in Disneyland Park, now featured as a delightful, plush-textured carving that enhances the rustic ambiance of the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree seating area.
Perched playfully atop a set of trash receptacles within the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree seating area, a new carving of Big Al brings a touch of whimsical charm. Though crafted from wood, the carving boasts surprisingly soft, plush-like features, making the beloved bear appear almost huggable. True to his character, Big Al sports his signature hat and vest. In his carved hand, he holds a rustic sign that playfully instructs guests, “Food Scraps Only: This bin is for feedin’ critters!” This charming signage serves a practical purpose, clearly guiding visitors to dispose of only food waste, ensuring that trays and plates intended for reuse are kept separate.
The meticulous attention to detail extends to the back of the carving, where the texture of Big Al’s fur and the stitching along his limbs further enhance the plush-like appearance, despite being rendered in wood. This charming addition is part of the reimagined Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, which reopened in October 2024 following a refurbishment that drew inspiration from the beloved Country Bear Jamboree. The restaurant’s new concept playfully suggests that its menu of “regional barbecue dishes” was discovered by the Country Bears themselves during their musical tours.
A new popcorn bucket has arrived at Disneyland! Star Wars fans won’t want to miss out on the new Tauntaun popcorn bucket fresh from the planet Hoth. It’s not big enough to hold a person (like Luke Skywalker) but it will definitely hold your popcorn.
Shaped like the iconic creature, the Tauntaun popcorn bucket incorporates a cleverly designed compartment on its back, opening and closing just like a tiffin box for easy popcorn access. For added convenience, it comes with an attached leash, making it simple to carry around the park. Disneyland is offering these limited-edition buckets at various locations, including Saka’s Kettle, Beverage Carts in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and the Galactic Grill, but only while supplies last.
Not only is this popcorn bucket an amazing-looking souvenir, it also has audio! Push a button on it’s chest and it makes the sounds we know from The Empire Strikes Back.
You can expect to pay roughly $32.49 to $35 for the Star Wars Tauntaun popcorn bucket, with the price differing slightly depending on where you buy it within Disneyland. We purchased ours from Galactic Grill and it came with French Fries.
Keep in mind that there’s a purchase limit of two collectibles per transaction, and unfortunately, no discounts are offered.

Prepare to be enchanted! The Walt Disney Family Museum proudly presents Mary Blair: Mid-Century Magic, a special exhibition that delves into the innovative creativity and remarkable accomplishments of Mary Blair, one of Walt Disney’s most celebrated and visionary designers and art directors.
Beginning May 22, 2025, the Walt Disney Family Museum’s collection will once again celebrate Mary Blair with Mary Blair: Mid-Century Magic. This new exhibition, a reimagined return of the popular 2014 show MAGIC, COLOR, FLAIR: the world of Mary Blair (originally conceived by John Canemaker) and curated by Marina Villar-Delgado, offers a fresh perspective on Blair’s influential career. It will also showcase an expanded selection of her later work, emphasizing her enduring impact on Walt Disney’s theme parks and resorts through her designs for attractions, façades, and murals.
Mary Blair was celebrated for her imaginative and bold artistic style, expertly working across various mediums such as watercolor, pencil and ink, collage, and ceramics. The upcoming exhibition, Mary Blair: Mid-Century Magic, will showcase nearly 150 artworks and historical photographs, highlighting her pivotal influence on the visual design of numerous Disney animated films and theme park experiences—an artistic legacy that remains impactful today. Visitors can also enhance their experience through engaging, hands-on Mary Blair-themed art activities or by using their phones to unlock augmented reality interactions.
The exhibition Mary Blair: Mid-Century Magic will be accessible in the Walt Disney Family Museum’s Lower Lobby and Theater Galleries from Thursday, May 22nd, through Sunday, September 7th, 2025. Admission to this special showcase is included with general museum entry, with a $5 suggested donation to support the museum’s ongoing efforts to present exceptional original exhibitions. Additionally, details regarding an exclusive screening in the museum’s theater will be announced soon, featuring a collection of rare film footage and animated clips that complement the artwork displayed in Mary Blair: Mid-Century Magic.
Lightsabers and Late Nights: A Review of Disneyland After Dark’s Star Wars Nite
Last night was the first night of Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite! Disneyland immerses guests in the “Star Wars” universe after dark with spectacular decor, tasty eats, other-worldly characters, and more.
Upon entering or checking in for Star Wars Nite, you’ll receive a special commemorative credential and a detailed guide map to navigate the galactic festivities. For optimal planning, this essential guide is also conveniently accessible within the Disneyland app, both in the days leading up to and during the event. We highly recommend utilizing the digital map to strategically scout out your must-see character encounters, entertainment schedules, and, importantly, any exclusive Star Wars-themed food and beverage offerings you won’t want to miss.
Guests attending Star Wars Nite will want to grab some exclusive merchandise from the event. Event merchandise includes T-shirts and apparel, Minnie ears, cups, ornaments, and more. You will find the items at Emporium on Main Street U.S.A., Starcade in Tomorrowland, and Jewels of Bith in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Star Wars Nite at Disneyland offers a fantastic selection of special menu items to enhance your experience. In addition to these event-specific treats, a galaxy of “Star Wars”-themed food and beverage options is available all day and throughout the entire Season of the Force. To save on time during the event, Mobile Order the foods you want earlier in the day and choose a later time for pick up. Then your food will be ready when you want to eat rather than having to wait for a decent return window.

Salted Caramel Brownie Macaron-Disneyland does macarons so well and this one is no exception. Great treat to end the night on!

Fond Farewell
As we left the park at the end of the event, Mickey and Minnie gave a sweet farewell to guests. They were dressed in their Star Wars costumes (inspired by their favorite droids) and were just so cute!
