Pixar’s “Cars 3” fuels two new soundtrack releases

Cars 3

Cars 3

As Lightning McQueen heads to the big screen alongside his new tech-savvy trainer Cruz Ramirez, Disney•Pixar’s “Cars 3” fuels two soundtrack releases—both available from Walt Disney Records on June 16 as the film opens in theaters nationwide. The Cars 3 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, features eight tracks—including original songs by Dan Auerbach and ZZ Ward, four covers by various artists, and two instrumental tracks from Brad Paisley. The Cars 3 Original Score Composed and Conducted by Randy Newman reunites the “Cars” franchise with the Oscar®-winning composer. Both soundtracks are available for pre-order tomorrow, May 19, 2017.

“Lightning McQueen is on the journey of a lifetime—traveling cross-country, revisiting the past and looking into his own heart and soul to answer some big questions,” said “Cars 3” director Brian Fee. “Just like the music in the first two ‘Cars’ movies, the songs and score in this film really help support the story we are telling.”

CARS 3 ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK

The Cars 3 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack features “Run That Race,” an original song written and performed by nine-time Grammy® winner Dan Auerbach that can be heard as the movie opens. “The song is about never giving up and always trying your best,” said Auerbach, who met with filmmakers prior to penning the song. “They showed me the storyboards and ran through the plot. I was able to read some of the dialogue and from there I had enough to piece together a story in my mind for the song.”

Auerbach will release Waiting on a Song, his second solo album, on June 2 via his new label, Easy Eye Sound.

The soundtrack also features “Ride,” an original end-credit song performed by Hollywood Records artist ZZ Ward, featuring musician Gary Clark Jr. Written by Ward, Evan Bogart and Dave Bassett, the song was released by Walt Disney Records as a digital single on April 14. It was performed live by Ward April 17 on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Ward’s sophomore album, The Storm, will be released June 30.

The soundtrack also features four cover songs, including two bonus tracks.*

  • “Kings Highway,” originally released in 1991 by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, makes a comeback courtesy of 23-year-old British singer-songwriter James Bay.
  • Bruce Springsteen’s 1984 hit “Glory Days” gets a modern-day makeover by Grammy®-nominated performer Andra Day, who voices Sweet Tea in the film—a performer in the Cotter Pin with a hairstyle reminiscent of Day’s signature look.
  • *The Beatles’ classic 1965 song “Drive My Car” is back on the road, compliments of Hollywood Records artist Jorge Blanco.
  • *“Freeway of Love,” made famous in 1985 by Aretha Franklin, is performed for the soundtrack by actress Lea DeLaria, who also provides the voice of Miss Fritter, a school bus-turned-demolition-derby-queen in “Cars 3.”

Three-time Grammy®-winning singer, songwriter, guitarist and entertainer Brad Paisley, who has 24 No. 1 singles under his belt, was called on to create two instrumental tracks that are featured on the Cars 3 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. “Truckaroo” and “Thunder Hollow Breakdown” accompany the film’s action-packed Crazy 8 demolition derby sequence that puts Lightning and Cruz in the midst of total chaos. “Brad Paisley was part of both ‘Cars’ and ‘Cars 2,’” said Tom MacDougall, executive vice president of music at Disney. “We knew he could have some fun with a demolition derby, and he just killed it. His down-home country tracks really add to the scene’s action and humor.”

From Walt Disney Records, the Cars 3 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is available June 16 and can be pre-ordered digitally HERE  and via Amazon HERE.

Disney Among The LinkedIn Top Companies for 2017

Linkedin

Linkedin

Walt Disney said, “You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.”

At The Walt Disney Company, 195,000 employees operate in 45 countries to honor a legacy of storytelling that began with Walt himself, while continuing to deliver next-generation experiences across multiple lines of business—from innovative theme parks and state-of-the-art motion pictures, to broadcast entertainment and digital media offerings that engage fans on a variety of platforms, wherever they may be. A talented and diverse workforce helps drive their success, and they’re pleased to be among LinkedIn’s Top Companies for 2017. Disney ranks No. 9 on the list, which LinkedIn compiled by studying the actions of its more than 500 million members, to determine where professionals want to work now.

In compiling the rankings, LinkedIn looked at billions of actions taken by its users, focusing on three main pillars: interest in a company’s jobs, interest in a company’s brand and employee retention. The 50 companies on the list span 21 industries and, LinkedIn Editor-in-Chief Daniel Roth says, “represent those that are most in-demand, those that have figured out how to attract top talent and then keep them.” Disney was singled out for the creative talent it hires and retains and the marketable properties the Company creates.

Earlier in 2017, Disney was recognized on Reputation Institute’s annual list of “The World’s Most Reputable Companies” and the Company led the entertainment industry on Fortune’s list of “World’s Most Admired Companies,” ranking 5th overall.

New Nighttime Experiences to Debut on Opening Day of Pandora – The World Of Avatar

Nighttime in Pandora 2

Nighttime in Pandora 2

Between Chip’s media event coverage and some of the staff writer’s annual pass preview visits, we have covered many of Pandora’s daytime offerings. What we still are excited to experience is Pandora – The World of Avatar after the sun goes down. There are many new nighttime events that are in store for guests beginning opening day, May 27th, 2017. Our friends at WDW News Today shares some insight on what to expect at Pandora at night…

The debut of Pandora’s nighttime lighting ceremony will set the tone for visitors of this alien world once the sun sets. There will also be a Na’vi built drum circle performing 14 times per day during the extended summer park hours. The 8 PM show will be especially interesting as it will reportedly bring the bioluminescence of Pandora to life right before guests eyes. Guests will have the opportunity to play these same instruments in between performances too.

Pandora at Night

The Disney Imagineers are still working around the clock to finish the last minute “touch and respond” Pandoran bioluminescent plant life. Opening day we are hoping to see everything activated for guests to interact with.

There is also talk of ACE (Alpha Centauri Expedition) team members roaming around Pandora in-character teaching guests about the planet. This paired with the additional Wilderness Explorer challenges and badges to collect will make for a very educational experience.

Are you excited to experience the new Pandora events debuting May 27th? I know we are!

More Changes Coming to the Menu at Kona Cafe

P1050474
P1050474

kona

We recently reported changes made to the breakfast menu at Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian resort, and now  guests will notice a change to the lunch and dinner menu as well.

At lunch, guests will no longer find the Polynesian Plate Lunch on the menu. The Kona Surf and Turf Burger and the Big Island Tacos are also gone. However, you will find exciting new options that include the Island Style Beef Burger, Lemon Grass-Scented Airline Chicken Breast, and Shrimp Salad with Yuzu Emulsion.

Guests will find the dinner menu is pretty much the same as the lunch menu, and lost dinner menu items include Kona Coffee-Rubbed Pork Tenderloin, Pan Seared Duck Breast, and Grilled Curry Crusted Lamb Chops.

Kona Cafe is known for its amazing Sushi offerings, and luckily sushi remains a menu staple at both lunch and dinner.

For those with a sweet tooth the dessert menu at Kona Cafe has also been updated. We can say farewell to the Warm Apple Tart, Banana Chocolate Crème Brûlée, and Yuzu Citrus Tart. The Kona Kone remains along with Chocolate Fondue, and the Kilauea Torte.

Even with these changes Kona Cafe will no doubt continue to be a Disney guest favorite!

This Memorial Weekend Florida Is Expecting Over 2 Million Travelers

Memorial Weekend

Memorial Weekend

Memorial weekend is just a little over a week away. With schools letting out all over the country, it is generally accepted as the kick-off of the summer travel season. According to AAA estimates, more than 2 million Floridians are expected to travel during the upcoming Memorial weekend. They are part of the 39.9 million Americans that are estimated to make a holiday trip which is a 2.7% increase from last year and the third consecutive year of growth.

AAA also reports that their travel bookings in Florida are up 17% compared to this time last year. Vicky Evans, assistant vice president of travel sales development for AAA said, “Higher confidence, rising wages and recent gas-price declines have bolstered consumer spending, leaving many Americans with more money to spend on travel this Memorial Day.” Falling gas prices, which have dropped 20 cents in the past 21 days, encourage travel as 88% of holiday tourists are expected to travel by car.

Richard Maladecki, president and CEO of the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association, reported that the lodging community is seeing positive numbers and that they’re expecting another successful Memorial Day weekend for their tourism industry.

This Memorial Weekend Florida Is Expecting Over 2 Million Travelers

In the recent weeks though the Central Florida tourism leaders have been addressing declining theme-park attendance and a drop in international visitors. This is expected to turn around with the two big theme park debuts scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. Universal Orlando will open Volcano Bay water park, with its 200 foot high volcano, on May 25th. Two days later Walt Disney World will hold the grand opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Will you be traveling to Orlando to see these theme park debuts over Memorial weekend?

I’m Mary Poppins Y’all: Michael Rooker from Guardians of the Galaxy Stopped By Disneyland for a Special Meet-up

Yondu at Walt Disney World

Yondu at Walt Disney World

Seem strange to see one of the Guardians of the Galaxy posing with none other than Mary Poppins? Think again. In a moment that has fans roaring with laughter, a scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 makes this Yondu and Mary meet-up at Disneyland Resort the stuff of social media gold.

Though we here at Chip and Co. don’t want to give too much away to those that haven’t seen the new film, let’s just say that it has something to do with Yondu’s funny re-interpretation of one of Star-Lord’s hilarious pop culture references.

Michael Rooker, who reprises his role as Yondu in the second installment of the film,  stopped by to say “Hello” to Miss Mary  on Main Street USA this week and took time out to Instagram the photo you see above.  Insiders report that he was also spotted on the Storybook Land Canal Boats but no word as to whether he took time out to enjoy the new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission BREAKOUT! attraction that is slated to open in just a few short weeks. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of the Michael and the rest of the Guardians gang when the attraction officially opens on May 27, 2107.
