NFL Pro-Bowl Players and ESPN’s Mike Golic Pay a Visit to Cirque du Soleil

With the Pro Bowl in town this weekend, NFL team members have arrived at Walt Disney World and are practicing for the Big Game which will take place this Sunday, January 29th at 8:00 pm at the Orlando Citrus Bowl.

Despite their busy schedules, it was nice to see players and broadcasters take time out from their preparations for Game Day to enjoy a performance of Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba at Disney Springs.

Mike Golic of ESPN’s Mike and Mike was joined by Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl linebacker Lorenzo Alexander (pictured) as well as Los Angeles Rams Pro Bowl punter Johnny Hekker who had a chance to take in the show and meet some of the fantastic cast members who, from cyclists to acrobats, are elite athletes in their own right.

Performances of Cirque du Soleil take place at Disney Springs on Tuesdays through Saturdays at 6:00pm and 9:00 pm. They are currently running a Florida Resident Discount offer with prices as low as $59 per night for those with a valid Florida state I.D.

NFL fans won’t want to miss their opportunity to see the all-star players that have assembled for this year’s Pro Bowl which will be broadcast on ESPN starting at 8pm on Sunday.

Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs is Now Open

After unexpected delays, the re-imagined Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs finally opened on January 27. The flagship location features a new look and feel with a four-story stargazing observatory, an outdoor terrace and a new burger/sandwich menu inspired by celebrity chef Guy Fieri.

The 5,000 square-foot Stargazer Lounge will be opening soon and offer a beverage menu that focuses on Florida craft beers, including 20 on tap, along with 10 signature cocktails. Don’t forget about the hand-dipped milkshakes and generous sized desserts that are a hallmark of the restaurant.

Each floor of Planet Hollywood Observatory provides a different ambience in order to create an immersive theatrical dining experience. There is a 4500 square-foot video wall that projects images using trompe l’oeil 3D technology as well as an impressive collection of film-making memorabilia throughout.

Inspections Scheduled for Planet Hollywood Observatory

With multiple delays and setbacks for the opening of the New Planet Hollywood Observatory in Disney Springs, it seems positive that the Orlando Business Journal has just reported that there were inspections for the restaurant scheduled for this morning.

“It’s imminent,” Earl said during a phone interview with Orlando Business Journal. “It’s such a big project, such a large investment and there are so many new pieces to it. And to transform it within Disney Springs was a very big job. I think I expected it to have been ready two months earlier, or something like that. But all good things are worth waiting for.”

We certainly hope that this inspection means that the restaurant will be opening its doors very shortly! We will let you know as soon as we hear anything official about an opening date!

Bon Bon Buddies partners with Disney for healthier confections

Disney has selected Bon Bon Buddies as the only British confectioner – and one of only two European confectioners – to create, produce and distribute a new and healthier alternative confectionery as part of Disney’s Healthy Living strategy.

The character-branded Fruitickles range comprises five products made with 100% fruit in mixed strawberry, orange and blackcurrant flavours. The range will come in singular consumption packs, multipack consumption packs, surprise bags (large and small sizes), surprise capsules and surprise cones.

The range will feature characters from some of the most well-known and loved Disney brands including Disney Princess, Frozen, Cars 3, Spiderman and Star Wars.

In addition to counting as one of the recommended five-a-day portions of fruit and vegetables, Fruitickles is a portion-controlled and gluten-free product with no added sugar, no artificial flavours or colourings and is suitable for vegetarians.

The exclusive three-year partnership arises from Disney’s Healthy Living strategy, which aims to encourage young children and adults to live well, live healthy and have fun.

Blizzard Beach Closing for the Weekend Due to Weather

With Temperatures in Central Florida being forecast for the low 60’s, with lows in the 40’s this weekend, Disney has decided to close Blizzard Beach Water Park. We hear from WDW Magic that the park will remain closed from January 27th-30th due to the low temperatures.

An 8 minute sneak peek of Disney’s new live-action adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast” will be held at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland beginning February 10th. Guests can catch an advance look at a segment from the film at the One Man’s Dream attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The 3D presentation with special in-theater effects will also take place at the Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure park. Both locations will feature a display of props and costume pieces used in the film’s production.

The timeless tale of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will be released in 3D at U.S. theaters on March 17, 2017.

Marvel’s “Black Panther” Begins Production

Film audiences were introduced to the character of Black Panther in 2016’s Marvel release “Captain America: Civil War”. Marvel Studios announced today that production has begun on “Black Panther.” The movie stars Chadwick Boseman (“Captain America: Civil War,” “Get on Up”), Michael B. Jordan (“Creed,” “Fruitvale Station”), Academy Award® winner Lupita Nyong’o (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “12 Years a Slave”), Danai Gurira (“The Walking Dead,” upcoming “All Eyez on Me”), Martin Freeman (“Hobbit” trilogy, “Sherlock”), Daniel Kaluuya (upcoming “Get Out,” “Sicario”), with Academy Award® nominee Angela Bassett (“American Horror Story,” “London Has Fallen”), with Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” Lee Daniels’ “The Butler”), and Andy Serkis (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”).

Additional cast members include Letitia Wright (“Urban Hymn,” “Glasgow Girls”), Winston Duke (“Person of Interest, “Modern Family”), Florence Kasumba (“Captain America: Civil War,” “Emerald City”), Sterling K. Brown (“Whiskey Tango Foxtrot,” “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”) and John Kani (“Captain America: Civil War,” “Coriolanus”).

Ryan Coogler (“Creed,” “Fruitvale Station”) directs Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole (“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”). The film, which opens in U.S. theaters on February 16, 2018, will be shot in Atlanta and South Korea.

“Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.

Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” is produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nate Moore, Jeffrey Chernov and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.

Coogler’s creative brain trust includes his frequent collaborators: director of photography Rachel Morrison, A.S.C. (“Dope,” “Fruitvale Station”), production designer Hannah Beachler (“Creed,” “Fruitvale Station”), editors Claudia Castello (“Creed,” “Fruitvale Station”) and Michael P. Shawver (“Creed,” “Fruitvale Station”); along with costume designer Ruth E. Carter (“Selma,” Lee Daniels’ “The Butler”), visuals effects supervisor Geoffrey Baumann (“Doctor Strange,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), Academy Award®- winning makeup designer Joel Harlow (“Star Trek Beyond,” “Black Mass”) and seven-time Academy Award® nominee, special effects supervisor Dan Sudick (“Captain America: Civil War,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”).

Based on the Marvel comic character that first appeared in “Fantastic Four Vol. 1” Issue 52, published in 1966, “Black Panther” joins Marvel Studios’ slate of releases in its Phase 3 commitment to introduce film audiences to new heroes and continue the adventures of fan favorites over the course of four years and nine films.

The top is a solid black with a dainty red bow and yellow straps that are reminiscent of Minnie’s shoes. NFL Stars Announced for Pro Bowl Parade at Magic Kingdom on January 27

A special Pro Bowl parade will be held at Magic Kingdom on Friday, January 27 at 2:30pm. The following NFL stars will join Mickey Mouse and his pals along with cheerleaders and other special guests for the celebratory parade down Main Street, U.S.A:

Denver Broncos receivers Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders
Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier
Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker

Several community groups, including kids and families from Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors will also be in the parade.

Be sure to catch these five NFL Pro Bowl players and their teammates during the Pro Bowl game at Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Friday evening. The NFC stars take on the AFC stars at 8pm EST and the game will be televised on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.
