Broadway Stars To Perform On Select Disney Cruise Line Sailings

A new lineup of Broadway stars are joining Disney Cruise Line to entertain its passengers as part of the “Stars Set Sail” live concert series presented by Disney Theatrical Productions. These theatrical stars will be aboard the Disney Magic for most European itineraries and the Disney Wonder and Fantasy will join in on the fun on select voyages.

Some of the talented performers include Kevin Massey (lead role in Broadway’s “Tarzan”) and his wife Kara Lindsey (from the original cast of “Newsies”). You can see their cute photo above. Other star include Steve Blanchard (the longest running Beast on Broadway) and Alton Fitzgerald White (the longest running Mufasa on Broadway).

Each performer will have a unique show, showcasing their diverse talent and personal journey to Broadway. Guests will also have a chance to personally meet the star at a Q&A session, a late-night show just for adults, a theater class for teens and tweens and more.

In order to keep their rides running smoothly and safely, Disneyland often needs to close attractions in order to perform maintenance on them, or give them a fresh look. As much as we don’t like it when our favorite rides aren’t running, maintenance is necessary to keep guests safe during their park visits. That being said, here is a list of the rides and attractions at the Disneyland Resort undergoing refurbishment in July 2017:

19 Year Old Man Arrested For Selling Fake Disney World Tickets On Craigslist

Branden Bullerin, a 19 year old man from Deltona, Florida was arrested on Tuesday for selling fraudulent Walt Disney World tickets. Bullerin was charged with grand theft and possession of tickets with intent to defraud, authorities said.

A woman from Tampa said she found Bullerin on Craigslist and arranged to buy 13 Walt Disney World tickets from him. She then met him at his grandparent’s home and purchased the tickets for a total of $1,000. After arriving at the park with her family, the victim was told by Disney cast members that the tickets were expired.

The victim says that Bullerin claimed that since he worked for Disney he had access to discounted tickets. “Disney confirmed to WESH 2 News that Bullerin was not an employee with the company.”

The following is a comprehensive list of attractions, resorts and restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort that are currently undergoing refurbishment during the month of July 2017 or will be occurring in the months ahead:

Major Refurbishment Projects occurring until 2019.
- Several villages unavailable
- Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Cabana Pool Bar and Calypso Trading Post: Closed May 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018. There will be a variety of dining options available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Centertown will serve breakfast and dinner and a selection of grab-and-go meals will be conveniently available for purchase in three island markets located in the Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique regions of the Resort. Additionally, in-room dining will remain available. Any work most likely to cause a noise impact will not begin until 9:00 a.m.

Coronado Springs

Hard Goods Refurbishment: Through 2017. During this time, amenities including dining and merchandise locations, pools, La Vida Health Club with the spa and salon, and recreation activities such as beach volleyball, Iguana Arcade, Movies Under the Stars and more, will remain available. Please note that noise will be heard while our Resort is undergoing refurbishments, but noise should not be heard from Guest rooms prior to 9:00am daily.

Dolphin Hotel

Room Renovations: Through the end of 2017

Hotel Lobby Renovation: Through Fall 2017. Will remain open during during renovation

Disney’s Old Key West Resort

Exterior Maintenance and Painting: Through July 27, 2017. All work will be limited until after 9:00am daily.

Pop Century

Room Refurbishments: Through May 7, 2018. During this time, Guests may see or hear work in progress and certain pathways may be unavailable. To minimize disruptions, an attempt will be made to limit all work until after 9:00am daily.

Wilderness Lodge & Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney Wilderness Lodge

General Resort Refurbishments: Due to extensive refurbishment projects, Guests will very likely see and hear construction work in various areas throughout their stay. To minimize disruptions, work will be attempted to begin after 9:00 a.m.

At this time, many popular areas will remained closed – including the Hidden Springs Pool (the leisure pool at Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge), marina, playground and more. In addition, certain pathways, like our nature trail, will be unavailable, and surrounding views may be altered.

Recreation: Teton Boat and Bike Rentals & Boulder Ridge Cove Pool will be unavailable through July 1.

Cub’s Den (Children’s Activity Center): Unavailable through Summer 2017.

Roaring Fork and Trout Pass Pool Bar: Through July 17, 2017. During this time the latest addition, Geyser Point Pool Bar & Grill will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Territory Lounge will also offer a continental-style breakfast featuring gourmet coffees, pastries and a yogurt parfait.

Trout Bass Pool Bar: Closed through July 17, 2017.

Yacht Club Resort

Room Refurbishments: Began in January 2017. During this time, Guests may see or hear work in progress and certain pathways may be unavailable. To minimize any disruptions, an attempt will be made to limit work to 9:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m.

Captain’s Grille: Closed through September 30, 2017. During refurbishments, the Captain’s Grille is relocating to the oceanic-themed Ariel’s.

New MuppetVision 3D sign coming to Hollywood Studios

Disney is replacing the old MuppetVision sign in Hollywood Studios.

The old sign has been in place since 1991 and the changes are to go with the new theme of the Muppet Courtyard.

Magic Kingdom To Close to General Public an Hour Earlier on Very Merry Christmas Party Evenings

If you’ve ever been to one of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas parties at Magic Kingdom theme park you’ll know that the biggest hassle of the evening usually centers around beating the crowds to try to get into the park for party time. Disney has tried strategies to try and cut down on the swell of crowds right before the parties official start at 7 pm including letting guests with a valid party ticket into the parks as early as 4 pm.

When it comes to this year’s Very Merry Christmas Parties, it looks like Disney is stepping it up even further and will now be closing the park to the general public at 6pm rather than at 7pm to give non party-goers time to clear out. Disney is hoping that this will cut down on the traffic jams that can occur when regular guests try and leave at the same time as all of the party guests arrive.

Under the new procedure, at 6 pm all of the parks attractions will close. Guests will still be able to shop or eat at the parks until 7pm but will not be able to enjoy any of the rides.

As of going to print, it would appear that the change pertains only to the Christmas Party and not Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Disney has not shared any word as of yet as to whether the check-in procedures will be changing. Readers are advised to watch this space for the latest in Christmas Party news and updates.

Born in China transports audiences to some of the world’s most extreme environments of China where few people have ever ventured. The journey of Born in China introduces the audience to a doting panda bear mother, a 2-year-old golden snub-nosed monkey, and a mother snow leopard. Michael Bond The Creator of “Paddington Bear” Has Passed Away At Age 91

Following a short illness, Micheal Bond the creator of the beloved children’s character Paddington Bear has passed away. Bond died at his home at the age of 91.

“A Bear Called Paddington”, Bond’s first book was published in 1958. This widely successful book, based on a marmalade-loving bear from “deepest, darkest Peru”, eventually inspired more books, an animated TV series, and a movie in 2014. Paddington 2 is scheduled to be released in January 2018.

Walt Disney Home Video released multiple volumes of the Paddington stories for families to enjoy on VHS and The Disney Channel also aired segments from the BBC Paddington series on its program “Lunch Box” from the late 1980s into the 1990s.

Wearing a tag round his neck that read “Please look after this bear”, Paddington was named after the London railway station of the same name. Fans decorated the Paddington bear sculpture located on platform 1 at Paddington station with flowers and marmalade.

Fourth of July Week to Kick Off at Disneyland With Patriotic Performances

Visitors to Disneyland this week won’t want to miss the special entertainment option leading up to Independence Day. Starting this week and running through until July 3rd, guests should be on the lookout for performances by the United States Air Force Honor Guard, the United States Army National Guard Band, and the 191st and 300th Army Band.

Here’s a brief rundown of performance locations and times:

June 28 – July 1: The United States Air Force Honor Guard out of Washington, D.C.

Paradise Pier at Disney California Adventure – 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Town Square at Disneyland – 3:15 p.m.
Disneyland pre-parade – 4:05 p.m.

July 2: The United States Army National Guard Band

Disneyland pre-parade – 4:10 p.m.

July 3: The 191st and the 300th Army Bands

Downtown Disney District main stage – Ongoing performances from 9:45 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.
Disneyland pre-parade – 4:10 p.m.
