Walt Disney World is currently observing a period of mourning, flying its American flags at half-staff. This decision follows the passing of Pope Francis, who died at the age of 88 on Monday morning.

The flags were already lowered at the Orlando resort in response to a recent tragedy at Florida State University, where a shooting incident last Thursday resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to six others.

Following President Trump’s directive that all U.S. flags on public buildings and grounds be lowered in remembrance of Pope Francis, Disney has maintained the flags at half-staff. The resort is thus honoring both the victims of the Florida State University shooting and the late pontiff.

Guess what we spotted on our latest adventure to Hollywood Studios? The cutest little thing that’s about to make your backpack game seriously strong: the new Winnie the Pooh Loungefly mini backpack! And get this, it’s going for around $90. Trust me, though, this one’s a real sweetie.

Right on the front zippered pocket, you’ve got the whole Hundred Acre Wood crew having the most adorable picnic. We’re talking Pooh, Tigger bouncing around (probably!), Piglet looking a little nervous but happy to be there, Kanga with little Roo peeking out, Rabbit looking slightly exasperated, and even Eeyore looking a tad less gloomy than usual. And if you look closely in the background, you can even spot Christopher Robin watching over his pals. Beginning May 4, 2025, a brand-new limited-time hilt theme called “Reclaimed and Reforged” will debut at Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers in both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. Unveiled during the Walt Disney Imagineering panel at Star Wars Celebration Japan, this hilt theme invites guests to channel the spirit of the Outer Rim’s most resilient Force users.

Crafted from salvaged debris — think fallen starships, battle-worn tech, and pieces pilfered by space pirates — each component in this design tells a story of survival and transformation. These are not pristine pieces fresh off a Coruscant assembly line — they’re reclaimed relics, reforged into a symbol of renewal and power.

Here’s what builders can expect in the “Reclaimed and Reforged” kit:

4 sleeves (choose 2)
2 emitters (choose 1)
2 pommel caps (choose 1)

Skate Into the Screams: Halloween Horror Nights 2025 Scareactor Auditions Are Underway!

It may still be spring, but spooky season is creeping closer—and at Universal Orlando, the wheels of fear are already turning (literally). With Halloween Horror Nights 2025 set to kick off on August 29, preparations are in full swing, and auditions for scareactors are now open!

Halloween Horror Nights Casting for Select Roles for this Upcoming Halloween Season

In a thrilling twist for this year’s event, Universal recently posted a casting call for scareactors on roller skates—a first for HHN! While that particular posting has since closed, the fact that Universal is seeking performers with skating skills raises plenty of fun speculation: Will these agile terrors be gliding through a scare zone? Or will they be featured in a high-octane stage show? Either way, it’s safe to say: your nightmares might now come with wheels.

Auditions are still ongoing for several performance roles, including:

🧟‍♂️ Scareactors – No experience needed! Universal is looking for all looks and sizes. You’ll need to be comfortable with fog, lighting effects, and large crowds.
🤡 Stilt Walkers – Must be experienced and confident maneuvering through dim lighting and chaotic scenes.
👹 Puppeteers – Previous experience required, with the ability to perform with any style of puppet to a music track of your choice.
💃 Dancers – Strong in hip-hop and/or jazz. Dance demo reels are required. Must be available for rehearsals beginning mid-July.

All candidates must be 18+ and able to commit to every event night between August 29 and November 2, plus rehearsals in the weeks prior. Submissions require a headshot, full-length photo, resume, and audition video—and all materials must be current. For dancers, a demo reel is also required. (And don’t forget: submission deadlines are looming!)
