Could New Casting Call Mean A Change Is Coming For “Journey Into Imagination”?

Journey Into Imagination

Walt Disney World is searching for new actors. While this in and of itself is nothing new, the description of the role is causing some speculation about the Journey Into Imagination attraction. Disney is looking for male and female comedic actors for a “new offering” to play scientific interns.

Here is the description from the Disney Audition Website:

  • Male and Female Actors to portray wide-eyed and naïve “scientific interns”. Set in a laboratory environment, the warm and friendly “intern” enthusiastically supports various interactive audience experiences.
  • Performers should have experience in interactive improvisational performance and must project a warm and inviting persona.

But where will Disney be using these “scientific interns”? This casting call when added to the recent Figment Survey Questions leads our thoughts in the direction of a change coming for Journey into Imagination in EPCOT. Currently, guests are taken on a tour of the Imagination Institute and are test subjects for the new invention, the Imagination Scanner.

This aging attraction has been losing popularity since its first major renovation in 1998 when Figment was temporarily removed (until 2002). There have been many rumors swirling that a new “Inside Out” themed experience was replacing Journey into Imagination but so far nothing official has been announced.

In November of last year Bob Chapek, the Chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts,  announced at the Destination D fan event that EPCOT would be receiving “a major transformation” that would help transition the park into being “more Disney, timeless, relevant, family-friendly” while keeping the original vision alive.

Even though Journey into Imagination is decidedly not a popular attraction, Figment the small purple dragon has a large following. Figment is even featured on many of this year’s EPCOT International Food and Wine merchandise.

Nothing official has been announced by Disney yet. But, stay tuned to Chip and Company as we bring you the latest information as it is released!

All Star Movies Fantasia Pool Receives New Seating

All Star Movies Fantasia Pool Receives New Seating

One of our favorite pastimes is to sit, or nap, by the pool during a vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort.  Whether sitting, or napping is your thing, an important factor is to have the right chair.  The All Star Movies Fantasia Pool area received all new chairs over the weekend.

As we walked by the Fantasia Pool early Saturday morning, we noticed a flurry of activity poolside.  We observed as new chairs were brought in to replace the old ones.  Sun-Lovers rejoice!  While the chairs are not necessarily different in looks, they seem a bit lighter and easier to move.  So when the sun moves, and you need to turn your chair to follow the sun, these new chairs are a bit easier to maneuver and do not make that loud metal-to-concrete sound that startles birds, people and lizards alike!

Now if we could just convince the sun to make its appearance at the Walt Disney World Resort this weekend…..

Is Hollywood Studios About To Get A Name Change?

Is Hollywood Studios About To Get A Name Change?

Anyone who has been paying any attention knows that Hollywood Studios has been going through some major changes. Disney’s third gate has been suffering from an identity crisis for many years now. It first opened as a working production studio and tourist attraction but after the sound stages began to sit empty it eventually migrated to a concept that honored the world of film from all eras.

With the loss of many major attractions inside the park including The Great Movie Ride, Studios Backlot Tour, Magic of Disney Animation and the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show many guests complained of the lack of clear focus throughout the park.

Next year ushers in the beginning of a new era for the struggling park. Toy Story Land will open next summer in 2018 with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge following close on its heels in 2019. With these changes it only makes sense that Disney would be looking for a new retheming of the park and with it, a new name.

Brayden from the YouTube channel called Mickey Views has discovered a focus group survey that supports the rumor of a name change coming to Hollywood Studios! Bryaden has also been so kind as to provide us with some amazing high res photos of the focus group survey!

Is Hollywood Studios About To Get A Name Change?

It appears a new survey is being sent out by Disney Parks Survey that gives a clue as to the new direction the park is going to head in. From the description it looks like there is a turn from simply honoring the world of film to actually jumping inside the storylines and participating in the movies that we know and love.

Is Hollywood Studios About To Get A Name Change?

The survey then goes on to ask the guest to rank the top 5 of the suggested new names for the park. Choices include:

  • Disney Kaleidoscope Park
  • Disney Storyverse Park
  • Disney Hyperia Park
  • Disney Beyond Park
  • Disney Cinemagic Park
  • Disney Legends Park
  • Disney XL Park
  • Disney Cinemagine Park

These new names would take the identity of the park away from the Golden Age of Hollywood to a theme focused more on the story lines of the movies themselves.

It even appears the names Disney Storyverse Park and Disney Beyond Park may be gaining traction.

Is Hollywood Studios About To Get A Name Change?

Is Hollywood Studios About To Get A Name Change?

What do you think of these choices? Let us know what your pick would be if you received the survey!

Again a HUGE special thanks to Brayden from Mickey Views for finding this juicy bit of info! Be sure to check out his video below for an even more detailed explanation of the Survey!
