Yara Shahidi the breakout star from ABC’s Black-ish, is getting her own spin-off. After filming a pilot, it’s moving closer to getting the greenlight, but it won’t be on ABC; instead, the show will air on Freeform, Disney’s cable network aimed squarely at the millennial set.
Shahidi’s character Zoey Johnson will be heading to college in the new show. Sound familiar? The show “A Different World” which was the spin off from “The Cosby Show” is where Denise Huxtable (played by Lisa Bonet) went off to college.
The pilot (as yet untitled), for the new sit-com was reportedly well received at Disney. But executives thought it might skew too young for the big network but perfect for those millennials they want to watch Freeform.
Production has begun on Disney’s “Zombies,” a musical about a semester at Seabrook High School; the pride and joy of Seabrook. This spooky new movie is set to premiere in 2018 as part of the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise
Seabrook is a suburban town preoccupied with uniformity, traditions and pep rallies. That is until transfer students from Zombietown come to the school and a cheerleader named Addison and a zombie football star called Zed, fall in love. Now, amid chaos and confusion, it’s up to them to lead their community to coexistence.
Disney’s “Zombies” is directed by Jeffrey Hornaday, choreographed by Christopher Scott and Hornaday (both of “Teen Beach Movie”), and executive produced by Effie Brown (“Star,” “Dear White People”) and Hornaday.
Leading the cast stars Meg Donnelly (ABC’s “American Housewife”) as Addison and Milo Manheim (“Ghost Whisperer”) as Zed. Also starring are Trevor Tordjman (“The Next Step”) as Addison’s cousin and head cheerleader Bucky, Kylee Russell (“Jump In”) as Zed’s zombie best friend Eliza and Carla Jeffery (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) as Addison’s friend Bree.
What are your thoughts on Disney’s haunting new “Zombies” musical? I wonder if it will be like High School Musical, but with Zombies and spooky special effects?

When translated from the Na’vi language, Pongu Pongu means “Party Party” and it is living up to its name! This popular drink stand is run by an expat who fell in love with Pandora and never wanted to go home. This Quick Service location serves up out-of-this world “bioluminescent” frozen cocktails, indigenous beers, and sweet snacks.
Frozen beverages will be a welcome treat in the hot Pandoran sun. The Mo’ara Margarita priced at $9.25 combines Sauza Conmemorativo Añejo Tequila with strawberry and blood orange flavors topped with strawberry Boba Balls.
Pongu Pongu also serves a non-alcoholic specialty beverage called Night Blossom. It is a mixture of limeade with apple and desert pear flavors topped with passion fruit Boba Balls.
You can even upgrade to have both of these served in a Souvenir Pongu Mug with Glowing Unadelta Seed. We included a picture of the empty mug so you can see the detail on it. When served in the souvenir mug the price is $18.25 for either drink.
There are also two Pandoran draft beers for visitors to try. The first is Hawkes’ Grog Ale, it’s a golden ale with a brilliant green color and flavors of wheat and citrus followed by a creamy finish. The second is Mo’ara High Country Ale, this draft beer has a rich amber color with a spicy hop aroma and notes of caramel, toffee and nuts. Both of these drinks are $8.25 for a 16 oz or $9.50 for the 22 oz. They can also be served in a souvenir Pongu mug with glowing Unadelta seed for $18.50.
For sweet snacking, Lumpia (loom-pee-ah), a pineapple-cream cheese spring roll, is also on the menu.
This beautifully themed drink stand has wonderful details from the Avatar movie that brings guests into the Pandoran story. Does anyone remember the big Avatar OmniMech featured out front?
Pogu Pongu will be open during lunch and dinner and the Disney Dining Plan will be accepted here.
Which drink are you excited to try first?
