Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Opening Night Review

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Opening Night Review

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party kicked off a bit early this year on August 25th 2017.  While many will say it is way too early for Halloween, we say Bring It On!  Here is our Review of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Opening Night.

Even before you enter the Magic Kingdom, you will find Halloween photo-ops.  Be sure to stop and begin building your memories!

Cast Members are available upon entry to the Magic Kingdom with event bands and maps.  We always love interacting with the Cast Members because they are the ones who make the Magic happen!

Characters abound all around the park.  Moana made her debut  in the Magic Kingdom Park during opening night of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Party-goers in costume are great fun to spot.  We are always amazed at the creativity we see with so many of the costumes.  Creativity runs rampant for what folks come up with for costumes.  The Tombstone group featuring Wishes, The Great Movie Ride and Universe of Energy was quite innovative yet easy to make.  You just need an idea to guide you towards the design of your very own unique costume.

The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is a show that is not to be missed!  The music and presentation are phenomenal.

Halloween Specialty Treats are available.  They only come around for a short period of time each year so this is your opportunity to pick  your favorites and give them a try.  We always love to check out the Specialty Cupcakes and this year you can enjoy a Pumpkin Cheesecake Dome.

No Halloween Party can be complete without the opportunity to Trick-or-Treat.  Treat Stations are located throughout the park.  Be prepared to completely fill the bag they give you.

If you have food allergies you can pick up a special teal allergy-friendly treats bag.  You can find these at the Heritage House and on Main Street at Guest Relations.  You can choose to get a teal plastic coin at the Treat Stations, or pick up all the treats on offer from the above listed locations.  We love that Disney recognizes the need to provide something extra special for those with food allergies.

Nick Wilde and Judy Hops have their own mini parade complete with music and dancing.  You can see them right after the ride of The Headless Horseman and just before the Mickey’s Boo To You Parade.  They make a couple of stops along Main Street U.S.A to dance along to music.

See The Headless Horseman’s ride here:

See our Live Feed of the first 2017 MNSSHP Boo To You Parade:

We would be remiss if we did not express our undying love for the Popcorn Buckets.  The Halloween Bucket is adorable and the bright orange lid is perfect to bring along for trick-or-treating.  Put some glow cubes or a lighted flashlight inside for a cool and eery effect.  We adore the 2017 MNNSHP Specialty Bucket.  The Mickey Jack-o-lantern is adorable and the green and purple strap make it easy to carry around the parks.  This also makes a perfect trick-or-treat bucket.

The Halloween decor around the Magic Kingdom is absolutely fantastic.  When it gets dark, the park comes alive with glowing lights and fun Halloween music.

Do not forget to have the Disney Photographers capture you in some really eery PhotoPass Magic Shots.  You never know what could turn up on your My Disney Experience app!

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Opening Night Review

Be sure to stop by the Haunted Mansion to meet Madame Carlotta.

If you are wondering whether or not you can justify the cost of the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party the answer  is,”Yes!”  The parade, shows, character greets, PhotoPass Magic Shots and festive atmosphere make the cost very worthwhile.   We love what Disney does with this Event.  Each year there is something new on offer, thus keeping the Event interesting.  Even if you can only do this party one time, you will be so glad that you were able to experience the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

The Spirit of Halloween Extends to Cars Land, California Adventure This Year!

The Spirit of Halloween Extends to Cars Land, California Adventure This Year!

Halloween Time at Disneyland has been expanded! New for this year, guests attending Halloween Time will still be able to find all of their favorite spooks of the past at Disneyland Park while new frights are in store over at California Adventure.

The Spirit of Halloween Extends to Cars Land, California Adventure This Year!

In Cars Land, the residents of Radiator Springs are transforming their little road town into a Haul-O-Ween celebration. Each establishment will be decorated for the season, with Fillmore showing off his Jack-Oil-Lanterns and ghostly folk art, a Spider-Car spinning webs all over Flo’s V8 Café and more.

Two Cars Land attractions will also transform for the first time ever this Halloween season. Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters will become Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween, an all-new spooktacular dance celebration where Luigi and Guido will entertain the cugini (cousins) with Halloween twists on traditional Italian festival songs like the “Terror-antella,” “The Chop Top of Carsoli” and more. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree will become Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, where guests will whirl around the graveyard to the tune of creepy new songs and fun haunted twists on favorites such as “Monster Truck Smash” and “Welcome to Radiator Screams.”

At Buena Vista Street, a new 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow, holding his jack-o’-lantern head up to the sky, will haunt Carthay Circle. Mickey Mouse and his friends bring more Halloween fun to this stylish avenue, donning new costumes, with Mickey Mouse as a bat, Goofy as a ghost, Daisy Duck as a witch and more!

Disney/ABC Television Announce Layoffs

Disney/ABC Television Announce Layoffs

Per reports, Disney/ABC Television will be laying off around 300 people due to budget cuts. Employees who work for ABC Network, its production studio, local ABC affiliates, and cable stations such as the Disney Channel and FreeForm will be affected by these cuts. These cuts are due to Disney/ABC President, Ben Sherwood, promising Bob Iger he would cut $300 million from his budget.

Both the Disney Channel and ABC have had their fair share of troubles in recent months. It’s been reported that the Disney Channel and FreeForm have seen a 20% decrease in viewers. ABC has also been coming in around third or forth in ratings against other networks. Earlier this year, ESPN – who is separate from Disney/ABC Television, also announced they were laying off several of their popular reporters and anchors.

Disney does appear to be trying to restructure their television presence when they announced they would be pulling all of their programming and movies from Netflix and start their own streaming service. The Disney service is expected to go live sometime in 2019.

‘Red Cards’ at Disney World Soon to be a Thing of the Past

Disney World

Say it isn’t so! The Inquistor is reporting the infamous “red cards” given to guests at Disney World to track attraction wait times are being phased out. (An interesting tidbit: Did you know the official name of the “red cards” are FLIK cards?) The famous “red cards” are given to a guest entering the queue. Then, once the guest reaches the end of the line, the guest turns the card over to the Cast Member to see how long they waited. Disney has elected to use the already existing technology in MagicBands to gauge wait times for attractions instead.

The folks at The Inquistor were able to confirm this with a few different Cast Members at Disney World. A supervisor in Future World at Epcot confirmed that the RELAUNCHED! Mission Space already did away with the cards. This Cast Member also stated they would soon be removed form Test Track. Another Cast Member also stated that the cards were being replaced by the MagicBand technology. Finally, a Guest Services Cast Member confirmed the elimination of the cards but stated there was no timeline for their removal.

Are you sad to see the “red cards” leave the parks? I know people love being the chosen one. It almost seemed like you won a prize when a Cast Member handed one over to you. I know I will miss them!

Let’s start planning your trip to Disney World before the “red cards” are gone for good!  CLICK HERE , fill out the form below, or send an email for a FREE, no obligation quote with an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner. Did You Know That The Lion King and The Godfather Are Connected?

Did You Know That The Lion King and The Godfather Are Connected?

Did you know that The Godfather and The Lion King are connected? It’s true! Ernie Sabella, the voice of ‘Pumbaa’ from Disney’s The Lion King, revealed for the first time today the unlikely inspiration for the warthog’s distinct voice: The Godfather. In “Watch A Disney Movie With…”  – a new digital series that invites fans to rewatch iconic Disney movies with the beloved film stars – Sabella explains how Pumbaa’s voice emerged from Godfather character Frankie Pentangeli, played by Michael Gazzo.

YouTube player

Sabella grabs some popcorn and sits down with Oh My Disney to uncover golden nuggets from the iconic 1994 Disney film:

  • 3:34: How he and ‘Timon’ voice actor Nathan Lane initially read for the roles of hyenas. (And how their undeniable chemistry won them praise from the producers.)
  • 2:28: How the voice actors achieved a “Disney first,” working on each scene, each line – together.
  • 4:16: The Pumbaa actor’s favorite Lion King scene and why.
  • 4:40: The warthog’s more than two-decade legacy and where it’s headed.

“Watch A Disney Movie With… Pumbaa ” is the first episode in the new series produced by Disney Digital Network. The show will take a deep dive with the legendary actors of Disney films; reveal exclusive stories from filming; and capture film talent’s genuine reactions to iconic scenes.
