10 Tangled Inspired Adventures that Prepare Your Children for Life

Tangled Adventures

Tangled: The Series premieres at 4 pm September 11th, 2017, in celebration of the premiere Disney Channel has put together a top ten list of activities inspired by Rapunzel’s adventures. Disney Channel researched and formed a panel of parenting writers and bloggers who created a comprehensive list of activities that best teach children key life skills.

The list was then voted on by 1,000 British parents, here are the top ten activities that can prepare your child for the future:

YouTube player
  • Caring for pets – Caring for animals teaches children empathy and responsibility.
  • Budgeting their own money for store purchases – Having children budget with their own pocket money teaches them the value money.
  • Growing fruits & vegetables – Growing your own fruit and vegetables opens the discussion of nutrition, with your child, as well as teaching them where food comes from.
  • Making extra spending money by doing small jobs for neighbors – Allowing your children to make money by preforming jobs for neighbors teaches them about the rewards of hard work.
  • Spending the night at a friend’s house – Spending a night away from their parents is a great way to teach children independence.
  • Fundraising for a charity – Fundraising for charitable causes teaches your children empathy and generosity.
  • Writing/preforming a play, song, or skit – Writing or preforming in plays, songs, and skits promotes creativity and builds confidence in your child.
  • Build a den or shelter – Learning to work with the materials you have on hand promotes ingenuity.
  • Selling homemade items to the community – Entrepreneurism is learned by selling homemade items such as lemonade and cookies, to other members of you community.
  • Using a map to navigate a treasure hunt – Children can learn basic navigation skills by participating in treasure hunts with maps.

One of the great things about this list is that all of the adventures can be done with little parental guidance, allowing children to grow their skills on their own. They are also low in cost and most can be done in the comfort of your own home. Have your children ever participated in any of these adventures that promote life skills?

Water intrusions throughout the Main Terminal
Torn canopies on departure and arrival curbs on both A & B sides of Main Terminal
Debris and obstructions on airport roadway system
Preparing the airport for arriving and departing aircraft will also involve determining the availability of personnel and discussions with the airlines regarding scheduling. MCO staff will also collaborate with all integral airport partners to effect a safe, secure and expeditious resumption of service. This entire process could take several days to resume normal operations.

As of Monday, the earliest limited commercial flight operations are projected to resume would be Tuesday. After multiple days of cancelled flights, all passengers are advised to verify a confirmed seat assignment with their individual airline before arriving at the airport.

Prior to the arrival of the storm, airport employees were directed on when to return to work by their individual employers. They are urged to call company hotlines to confirm their status before returning to work. TSA employees should call 407-563-6681 for more information. Greater Orlando Aviation Authority personnel are scheduled to return on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 as long as it is safe to do so.

I love when a delicious dessert also doubles as eye candy, and Roaring Fork’s Campfire Cupcake does just that! The Campfire Cupcake is a decadent chocolate cupcake topped with marshmallow flavored frosting. Its frosting is sprinkled with chocolate cookie crumbs to resemble the dirt ground and decorated with candy-coated chocolate rocks, frosting piped to look like fire, and a mini toasted marshmallow.

Available at Roaring Fork in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, the cupcake’s Instagram-worthy decor is fitting of the resort’s theme.

The Campfire Cupcake is available for purchase during Roaring Fork’s lunch and dinner hours from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. for $5.49. For guests using a Disney dining plan the cupcake counts as one snack credit.

UPDATE: 09/12/17

This morning Walt Disney World opened its gates to all four theme parks to guests. Even though the parks looked immaculate, several attractions were closed today (or delayed) due to debris caused by Hurricane Irma. We walked around Magic Kingdom to see if we could identify the causes behind these delays.

Walt Disney World Railroad has trees down across the tracks.

Tom Sawyer Island is also currently closed due to Hurricane Irma’s after effects.

Jungle Cruise has also been reported as needing at least a week to remove the debris before it can be operational.

*********************************************************

Hurricane Irma passed over Walt Disney World last night and has since turned into a Tropical Storm. Florida curfew remains in effect until 6pm today for Osceola and Orange counties. Approximately 300,000 are without power in Orange Country alone. Luckily we have not heard of any of the Walt Disney World Resorts losing power overnight.

WFTV 9 ABC News reported earlier this morning seeing a “load” of tour buses pass them by. It appears they were carrying linemen to EPCOT to help get the power back on.

Overall it seems that Walt Disney World had relatively minimal damage and the lights remain on.

Disney World is still advising their resort guests to remain in their room/building and will notify everyone once the curfew is lifted.

Let’s take a look at photos from the different resorts this morning post-Hurricane Irma. Please be patient as some pictures take a bit to load.

Caribbean Beach has some tree damage

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter has quite a few trees down.

Contemporary Resort and Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah both look like they fared pretty well through the storm.

Polynesian seems to have been hit worst. Trees are down but it doesn’t sound like any hit the buildings.

All-Star Music Resort has seen its share of tree debris as well.

We will continue to update this page as we receive additional information on the state of the Walt Disney World Resort this morning. Stay Tuned!

The Seas with Nemo and Friends at EPCOT is celebrating some new arrivals of baby Lined Seahorses! Newly hatched, these Lined Seahorses only measure less than one-quarter inch long! When they reach full maturity they will grow to an approximate length of 15 centimeters.

Lined seahorses feed mainly on minute crustaceans and brine shrimp, which they suck in through their snout. They form monogamous pairs during breeding season and unlike most animals, it is the male seahorse that carries the offspring and gives birth to their young. Go Dad!
