Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Runners Raced to Infinity and Beyond

Disneyland Resort recently completed a magical Pixar weekend of fun-filled runs at the 2017 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend. The first race weekend of the 2017-2018 runDisney season had runners racing to the finish line and beyond not only in their favorite running shoes, but in some great Pixar-themed costumes as well. Here’s a look at some of the favorite moments from throughout the weekend:

The Disneyland 5K boasted an ‘incredible’ time for super heroes and runners alike, full of family, celebrating Pixar’s own super family from “The Incredibles.”

Disneyland 10K runners had all their ‘screams’ come true during the weekend’s next event celebrating “Monsters, Inc.” Throwing it back to Mike and Sulley’s days at Monsters University, participants felt the spirit of Oozma Kappa the whole race through.

Space Rangers and Cowboys suited up and saddled up for the weekend’s final event, the Disneyland Half Marathon, celebrating “Toy Story.” Partners reached for the sky as they completed the 13.1 miles to the finish line.

J.J. Abrams Back On Board to Direct Star Wars: Episode IX

In a move that is sure to excite many a Star Wars fan, the news was released today that J.J. Abrams will be back at the helm for Star Wars Episode IX slated to hit theaters in 2019.

J.J Abrams directed the first film in the new franchise Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in 2015 and will be returning to round out the trilogy as writer and director of the final installment.   The Force Awakens went on to sell more than $2 billion tickets worldwide and was considered a critical success.

It should be noted that J.J. Abrams was not originally slated to direct the project.  Instead, the role was given to Colin Trevorrow whose previous films include “Jurrasic World” and “The Book of Henry.” However, Trevorrow’s departure from Episode IX was recently announced with those close to the project citing creative differences.

 

Abrams will collaborate on the script with Chris Terrio.  Star Wars: Episode IX will be produced by Kathleen, Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Abrams, Bad Robot and Lucasfilm.

Episode IX is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.

New Poster for Disney-Pixar Film Coco now Available

Disney/Pixar released a new poster for their upcoming film Coco, today. The colorful poster gives us a peek into the film’s story line, showing both mexico, on the left, and the Land of the Dead, on the right, split by Miguel’s guitar.

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

Directed by Lee Unkrich (“Toy Story 3”), co-directed by Adrian Molina (story artist “Monsters University”) and produced by Darla K. Anderson (“Toy Story 3”), Disney•Pixar’s “Coco” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 22, 2017. Debuting in theaters along with Coco is Disney’s new holiday short Olaf’s Frozen Adventure! 'Club Mickey Mouse' Debuts New Original Music Video And Theme Song

Today, the original theme song for the new “Club Mickey Mouse,” variety program debuted on Facebook and Instagram. The song and music video for “Mickey Mouse Club March (Club Mickey Mouse Theme)” is the first of a series of marquee music videos from the newly rebooted always-on digital- and social-first variety program.

The song is performed by all eight Mouseketeers (Regan Aliyah, Jenna Alvarez, Ky Baldwin, Gabe De Guzman, Leanne Tessa Langston, Brianna Mazzola, Sean Oliu and Will Simmons) and is accompanied by a colorful video featuring the Mouseketeers’ choreography on the “Club Mickey Mouse” set.

Special guest Todrick Hall (@todrick) mentored the Mousketeers on the vocals and choreography for the music video.

Behind-the-scenes social posts, shared via the “c” accounts on Facebook and Instagram, will reveal the cast’s creative process during the recording of the song and filming of the choreography, and some of the surprises the Mouseketeers shared in the studio and while filming. The music video for the “Mickey Mouse Club March (Club Mickey Mouse Theme)” can now be viewed on Facebook and Instagram. In addition, the song is available from Walt Disney Records on digital music services including Apple Music, iTunes, and Spotify.

As one of the first programs created entirely for social feeds, “Club Mickey Mouse” follows the journey of the new Mouseketeers as they create new music and choreography and build friendships. For the next seven weeks, the Mouseketeers will share their journey on the @ClubMickeyMouse Instagram and Facebook accounts through Instagram stories, Boomerangs and Facebook Live videos, and document the behind-the-scenes process of writing songs, choreographing dances, and sharing their special experiences on set. Beginning with this week’s theme song reveal, each week will culminate in a musical performance and a marquee music video.

Part of Facebook Anthology, ”Club Mickey Mouse” was developed by Disney and HP for Facebook. HP equipped the cast with HP Sprocket Photo Printers to document their journey. “Club Mickey Mouse” celebrates the creative spirit of the ‘Creator Generation’ and with HP as a partner, the program empowers the new class of Mouseketeers to create and document their experiences and stories.

“Club Mickey Mouse” is also developed and produced by the team behind Oh My Disney, Disney Digital Network’s flagship editorial voice for Gen Z and Millennial Disney fans. Out First Look Into the New ‘Walt Disney Presents’ at Hollywood Studios

Since Hollywood Studios reopened today after Hurricane Irma passed through, we were able to get our first glimpse into the re-imagined “Walt Disney Presents” or the former “One Man’s Dream” at Hollywood Studios.

The attraction still does a good job at keeping true to portraying Walt’s Vision bringing Disneyland to life and the plans he had for Disney World. It also goes into the creation of the overseas Parks and provides some amazing models of various iconic attractions at the different Parks around the globe.

Here’s a look at some of the history behind the Parks:

Disney Cruise Line Updates After Hurricane Irma

We reported last week that Hurricane Irma caused some Disney Cruises to be cut short or cancelled. The Disney Fantasy’s September 2 cruise returned to Port Canaveral two days early and the Disney Dream’s September 4 Cruise returned to Port Canaveral one day early. The Fantasy’s September 9 sailing was cancelled and the Dreams’s September 8 and 11 sailings were also cancelled.

At this time, it appears that these were the only sailings impacted by the storm. Disney announced today that the Dream’s sailing on September 15 is on as scheduled and the Fantasy’s sailing on September 16 is all set to cruise as well.

Disney’s announcement today also addressed the ports in the Caribbean and Bahamas that these ships sail to. Disney has not changed any itineraries as of yet but they are closely assessing the damage from Hurricane Irma to their ports of call and will announce any changes later on.
