Today is Opening Day for Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Today marks the official opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

This new land is the largest addition in the history of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. From the moment guests enter into Pandora – The World of Avatar you are fully immersed in this new land where you can walk under floating mountains and enjoy bioluminescent rainforests. Two new attractions also officially opened today. The Na’vi River Journey takes guests sailing down a mystical river to encounter a Na’vi shaman. And my new favorite Disney attraction, Avatar Flight of Passage, allows guests to experience an amazing adventure soaring over Pandora on the back of a mountain banshee. This ride is incredible!

When the sun goes down guests will be wowed by a whole new experience as bioluminescent walkways and plants appear to come to life in the light of the Pandora moon.

Satu’li Canteen, the newest fast casual dining option, will offer guests the chance to indulge in Na’vi culture while dining in a former RDA mess hall. Guests who fall in love with banshees while visiting Pandora – The World of Avatar can purchase their own banshee to take home at Pandora’s primary souvenir shop Windtraders.

Chip ‘n Dale Now Meeting Guests at Magic Kingdom’s Town Square

Everyone’s favorite furry critters Chip ‘n Dale have migrated from their original Magic Kingdom meet and greet location in Frontierland to their new spot right as you come in to the Magic Kingdom in the Town Square courtyard.

Guests who visited them previously will notice that they’ve also had a bit of a costume change, giving up their frontiersman garb in preparation for the Summer heat.

Chip ‘n Dale will be on hand to greet guests throughout the day. So be sure to have your cameras and autograph books at the ready. For those connected via the My Disney Experience app, here’s a sample of the information on their new meet-up directly from the character finder:

STK Orlando Celebrated its One Year Anniversary in Disney Springs

On Thursday May 25th, the iconic Steakhouse STK Orlando, in Disney Springs, marked its milestone birthday with a rooftop white party.

STK Orlando opened in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs one year ago, the restaurant toasted to a successful first year on Disney property with a selection of specialty cocktails, and favorites from their menu, including STK’s popular Lil’ BRGs – wagyu beef and special sauce on a sesame bun. The restaurant welcomed a guest list included regular customers, local community leaders, the media, and Disney partners.

Marvel’s “Ant-Man” Animated Shorts Coming To Disney XD

Scott Lang sure has a few tricks up his sleeve – EW has announced that Marvel’s “Ant-Man” will be the next installment in Marvel Animation’s series of cartoon shorts, set to premiere June 10 and June 11 on Disney XD. Voiced by Josh Keaton, the shrinking hero will fight evil alongside the Wasp and Hank Pym. He’ll score occasional breaks to help daughter Cassie with her homework.

Like the previous round of Marvel shorts, which starred Rocket and Groot from “Guardians of the Galaxy”, Marvel’s “Ant-Man” was animated by Passion Pictures, the studio behind Gorillaz’s animated music videos. The six two-minute shorts in this series are directed by Ugo Bienvenu and Kevin Manach, written by Brian Wysol, executive-produced by Alan Fine, Dan Buckley, Joe Quesada, Cort Lane, Stephen Wacker, and Stan Lee, with Cara Speller and Marc Bodin-Joyeux also serving as producers.

The first shorts (titled “Science Fair,” “Alien Invasion,” and “Soup Time”) will air on Disney XD on Saturday, June 10 at 7:58 a.m. ET, with the next two (“Alien Invasion” and “Soup Time”) following at 11:58 a.m. and 2:58 p.m. The next three (“Exterminator, Proton Cube,” and “Not a Date”) will air the next day at 11:28 a.m., 5:28 p.m., and 8:58 p.m., respectively.

The “Gone Mad Party” is returning to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! This uniquely themed experience gives guests an amazing view of the Magic Kingdom’s newest nighttime spectacular, “Happily Ever After“. Step into the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland for this themed viewing party and enjoy drinks, food, music and dancing.

Starting in June the “Gone Mad Party” will be offered every Wednesday night from 7 to 9:30 pm at the outdoor patio by Gasparilla Island Grill. The wait is over! Pandora-World of Avatar opens tomorrow May 27th at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Here is a look at some of the amazing sneak peeks and previews we’ve had so far.

The Official dedication of Animal Kingdom’s Pandora- World of Avatar Wednesday May 24th, 2017.

Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger and filmmaker James Cameron, along with imagineers and some of the AVATAR film cast were also part of the festivities.

As you can see in the detailed landscape, imagineers really leave guests feeling as though they are being transported to another world.

As night begins to fall the bioluminescent magic begins…

Then, Pandora comes alive as everything begins to glow…. for a totally different Pandora experience.

Pandora offers two major attractions. Take a tranquil boat ride on “Na’vi River Journey” then hop on the back of a Banshee on “Avatar Flight of Passage” for an action packed thrill ride for the senses.

The food we have seen so far is nothing short of amazing. Below are a few of the savory entrees, decadent desserts, and unique drinks we have seen from Satu’li Canteen.

For those lucky enough to be visiting Pandora – The World of Avatar on Opening Day (tomorrow May 27th) you’re in for a very special treat as Disney will be releasing a line of special commemorative merchandise that will only be available to guests visiting on the day.

The products will be available at Windtraders next to the Pongu Pongu beverage stand in Pandora as well as at Discovery Trading Company on Discovery Island.

Guests looking to bring home a special limited-edition souvenirs will be spoiled for choice as the line includes t-shirts, hats, water bottles and more, all featuring artwork specially created for Opening Day.

There will also be three commemorative MagicBands issued. There’s a limited edition (only 2000 made) purple MagicBand which features bioluminescent artwork as well as a blue open edition retail MagicBand. Annual Passholders visiting tomorrow may want to treat themselves a teal limited edition MagicBand that also features the phrase “I traveled to Pandora on May 27, 2017”. There will be 5,000 of the AP MagicBands available for purchase.

Pin collectors visiting on Opening Day are also in luck as there will be a five-pin limited edition opening day pin set available for purchase. Dubbed the Countdown to Pandora Collection, each of the five pins depicts a beautiful travel poster from Alpha Centauri Expeditions. The artwork for these pieces comes directly from Dylan Cole, Co-Production Designer for the upcoming Avatar sequels. The pins will have an edition size of only 5,000.

Can’t make it to Pandora on Opening Day? You can still get in on the fun merchandise. The Disney Parks section of DisneyStore.com will be offering commemorative t-shirts available for purchase online between May 24 – June 7.

BREAKING : Hollywood Studios to Test a New Projection Show Tonight

We have gotten word that Hollywood Studios has announced a new projection show called “Disney Movie Magic!” It is set to test tonight and perform nightly at 9pm before Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. John of The Disney Blog has reported hearing the announcement of the show at the park earlier. This new show is said to showcase Disney Live Action Films.

Behind the Thrills, has reported that a guest reported hearing the music being run last night. Some of the songs reported were as follows:

1: Announcer: “Disney’s Hollywood Studios present: Disney Movie Magic”
2: Orchestra playing “When You Wish Upon A Star”
3: Walt’s voice
4: Orchestra playing the prologue from Beauty and the Beast and “tale as old as time”
5: Pirates of the Caribbean
6: Indiana Jones
7: Guardians of the galaxy (Possibly)
8: The Rocketeer
9: When You Wish Upon a Star

Cosmic Dance Party Gives Guests a Chance to Dance the Night Away at the Magic Kingdom

We reported back in April that the “Incredibles Super Dance Party” which took place nightly at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland would soon be replaced by a new offering dubbed the “Cosmic Dance Party”.

Our very own Chip is visiting the Magic Kingdom today and it looks like the switch has officially taken place and the new dance party is underway.

This nightly event is the latest incarnation in a long line of dance parties that have run throughout the years at the Tomorrowland stage. The Cosmic Dance Party will have a space-themed focus with tunes that are out-of-this-world, flashing lights and an enormous dance floor. There will reportedly be character on-hand to show of their dance moves and say hello to a guest or two. Watch this space for further information on which characters crop up.

The event will take place nightly from 5pm -1opm on the newly refurbished Rockettower Plaza Stage.
