This weekend “The Music of Pixar Live! – A Symphony of Characters” made its debut at Hollywood Studios. This entertaining show treats families to a celebration of the music, animation and characters of Pixar films. Featuring fun character moments and brilliant animated scenes on large video screens, a full orchestra performs selections of the stirring soundtracks from some of Pixar’s beloved films.
Inside Theater of the Stars, guests will enjoy music from films such as “Toy Story,” “Up,” “Finding Nemo,” “Finding Dory,” “The Incredibles” and “Cars.” This summer show is currently scheduled to run until August 27th.
Special video segments with the film’s composers take guests inside the scoring of a Pixar film. Their on-camera comments are backed by behind the scenes footage from Pixar, including orchestra recordings, story development, concept art and animation.
From the moment guests arrive Green Army Men are on hand to greet everyone. Their warm-up show is hilarious!
Throughout the show, beloved Pixar characters add moments of comedy and fun before their featured segment. As an example, Mike and Sulley take the stage to collect laughs as Mike tries stand-up before the “Monsters, Inc.” segment comes on-screen.
Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear unwrap the “Toy Story” segment and “Up” is fronted by a special appearance of Carl Fredricksen and Dug.
Can’t forget Dory (though she might!) – appearing before the “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory” segment.
In the closing finale of You’ve Got a Friend in Me, the audience is encouraged to sing along, it’s a Pixar celebration like no other.
Showtimes will vary for “The Music of Pixar Live! – A Symphony of Characters.” The Music of Pixar Live! will not be replacing Beauty and the Beast but will follow it in the evening. But this is an example from our visit.

Guests who have reserved seating through the Music of Pixar Live! Dining Package do have the best seating but come early as even those fill up. The reserved seating is in the front center section with handicap seating in the very front. Everyone who attends will enjoy cushions no matter where you sit.
Of course Disney would never ignore an opportunity to provide guests themed items from the show to purchase.
Just as a heads up, this is a 45 minute long show. Even as entertaining as this productions is with character interactions and screen displays, kids did get a little antsy about 30 minutes into the show.
