Last Thursday Disney announced it would be revealing Toy Story Land’s opening date at this years D23 Expo. We heard from many of you about how excited you were and we couldn’t agree more!

Today we wanted to add to that excitement by sharing some amazing photos taken of the construction progress of Toy Story Land.

This image gives you a view of the whole Toy Story Land construction site. The red track to the left is the new “Slinky Dog Dash” family coaster. Those four blue circles to the right are part of the “Alien Swirling Saucers” attraction. I flipped the artists rendering (above) of the new land so that they would be oriented similarly (although not perfectly).

Sneak Peek of CARS 3 Is Now Being Shown At Disney Parks

Lightning McQueen fans will be excited to hear that a sneak peek of the latest movie, Cars 3, is now being presented at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts. Disney’s Hollywood Studios will show the preview as part of the One Man’s Dream attraction. Disney California Adventure Park will present it in 3D with special effects in the Bug’s Life Theater. Shift into high gear because this Cars 3 sneak peek is only being presented for a limited time.

Cars 3 Storyline

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez (voice of Cristela Alonzo), with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!

Avengers Training Initiative Begins Recruiting Young Superheroes at Disney California Adventure

Calling all young superheroes between the ages of 6-12, the Avengers Training Initiative at Hollywood Land in Disney’s California Adventure Park is currently looking for new recruits.

The initiative bears a lot of similarities to Jedi Training where kids sign-up at park opening to participate in a 20-minute stage show where they’ll be schooled in the ways of the force before going toe-to-toe with some formidable Disney baddies. For the Avengers Training Initiative, the premise is largely the same except the training is overseen by Black Window and Hawkeye from Marvel’s Avengers franchise.

During the training, Black Widow and Hawkeye share some insider tips with the recruits including a famed move or two by the Avengers themselves. When training is complete participants are put to the test when trying to save power banks from being depleted that are scattered about the stage due to a security breach at S.H.I.E.L.D. The trainees must then square off against. Dr. Zola of Hydra to liberate the base.

This exciting opportunity for your child to become a bona-fide superhero is only available during Disneyland Resort’s Summer of Heroes so don’t miss your chance to get them involved.

Sign-ups, similar to Jedi Training Academy, are offered on a first-come-first-served basis as soon as Disney California Adventure Park opens in the morning (this includes on mornings with Extra Magic Hours). Guests can expect Avengers Training Initiative to be just as in demand as its Star Wars counterpart so those interested in signing up should plan on arriving with kids well in advance and making a mad dash to the sign-up location. Children can register at the kiosk in the Hollywood Backlot near Stage 17 and Sunset Showcase Theater.

The shows will take place daily at 1:05, 2:15, 3:25, 4:45, 5:55 and 7:05pm.

New Ride Featuring Guardians of the Galaxy Opens in California Adventure Park

Summer of Heroes kicked off this weekend, at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, CA, with the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! The attraction opened on the heels of the premiere of the latest Guardians film; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Mission: BREAKOUT is the park’s first attraction featuring your favorite Guardians, Rocket, Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, and Groot. Disney celebrated the attraction’s opening night with a gala and fireworks.

“Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! brings an all-new epic adventure to the Disneyland Resort, and it’s the only Disney park in the universe where guests can step into a Guardians of the Galaxy story. With Rocket in control, you’re in for one heck of a ride,” said Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “It’s a fantastic way for guests to experience the Super Hero universe like never before.”

Unveiling The Collector’s grandiose Fortress, home of Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, Chapek acknowledged Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, Marvel Entertainment’s Joe Quesada, Walt Disney Imagineering’s Bob Weis and Joe Rohde, and their teams, as he recognized the partnership that brought the Guardians to life in a Disney park.

“With the brilliant creative minds in Disney working together, this is just the beginning of what will become an even bigger Super Hero presence at Disney California Adventure,” Chapek said.

James Gunn, director of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, along with actors Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker and Pom Klementieff, also helped unveil the attraction and the extraordinary, 183-foot-tall Fortress.

Benicio del Toro, who plays The Collector in the films, made the official announcement and sparked a finale of gold and silver fireworks: “Ladies and Gentlemen of Terra, the Tivan Collection is officially open.”

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! entices guests with an original storyline based on the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, comics and animated television series, with a rapid rise into chaotic adventure and surprising visuals. The fast-paced action rocks to the beat of music inspired by the films’ soundtracks, including classic rock and pop music from the ‘60s, ‘70s and early ‘80s. And with multiple ride profiles, guests never know which adventure they’ll get.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! opens just weeks after the cinematic premiere of “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2.” The stars of the films are featured in the attraction.

Walt Disney Imagineering collaborated with Gunn, Marvel Studios’ Feige and most of the main talent from the films, along with Quesada of Marvel Entertainment and Marvel Themed Entertainment on the story of the attraction, developing an experience where guests step into a story with these characters for the first time.

“I can’t be more pleased to have partnered with Walt Disney Imagineering in bringing the Guardians of the Galaxy characters to this new, immersive form of storytelling,” Gunn said. “It’s been exciting and a lot of fun to help direct and shape the experience so that it has all the heart and fun and humor of the Guardians movies.”

In addition to the new attraction, Summer of Heroes begins May 27 with Guardians of the Galaxy characters and Super Heroes appearing in Disney California Adventure for new exploits and Heroic Encounters. While some of these will be year-round, others will be available only from May 27-Sept. 10. Summer of Heroes inaugurates an ever-expanding universe of Super Hero stories at Disney California Adventure that will become even bigger over time.

The Collector’s Fortress

The Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! adventure begins as guests enter the grandiose Fortress. They discover that the Guardians have been imprisoned by the arrogant, acquisitive Taneleer Tivan, known as The Collector. Guests join a daring escape plan devised by Rocket, who once again proves his uncanny ability to break free from any prison or captivity.

The dominating fortress, adorned with antennae, satellite dishes and mysterious apparatus, is accented in shimmering hues of blue and gold. At night, with special lighting, it pulsates with imposing power. A gilded, eight-foot-tall statue of The Collector stands at the entry, towering over his VIP guests. As they enter to view the unique “Tivan Collection” of relics and species from all over the universe, they find his latest acquisition: The Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Fortress Lobby

The Lobby of the fortress is both fascinating and creepy – filled with display cases that hold artifacts and living creatures, which The Collector has obtained and made available for public viewing. In a welcome video, The Collector explains how he has trapped the Guardians of the Galaxy high atop his fortress in secured glass cages that are wired with power from a massive generator and suspended over a deep abyss.

The Collector’s Office

Before leaving the Lobby and entering The Collector’s Office, guests hold up their hands to be “bio-scanned” for security clearance. In the Office, even more of The Collector’s relics are on display and, as in the Lobby, the collection contains some hidden references that will delight dedicated Super Hero fans and Disney fans.

Suddenly, Rocket appears, telling guests he needs their help. Using their security clearances, he can hijack the gantry lift to the top of the fortress, disable the generator, and free his friends.

The Gantry Lift

Of course, Rocket’s plan faces challenges. After guests enter the gantry lift, Rocket overrides The Collector’s recorded tour spiel with music from the tape player of Star-Lord (aka Peter Quill). Soon, the gantry is shooting up into the fortress, then plummeting downward as Rocket attempts to take control of the generator.

It’s here that guests experience one of the attraction’s six different ride profiles, each synchronized to one of the songs on the “awesome mix tape”:

“Hit Me With Your Best Shot” by Pat Benatar
“Give Up The Funk” by Parliament
“Born To Be Wild” by Steppenwolf
“I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5
“Free Ride” by The Edgar Winter Group
“Burning Love” by Elvis Presley

Guests soon learn that, even if the rescue is successful, the resulting chaos may create problems of its own!

The Technology

To help create the attraction, Disney Imagineers used Virtual Reality technology to pre-visualize the Tivan Collection, The Collector’s Office and other parts of the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! experience.

The ride system has more high-speed ride time than ever before, and the thrill factor gets going as soon as the gantry lift doors close and the music starts blaring. Each song is accompanied by a different up-and-down ride profile and story scenes, making every visit to the attraction unpredictable.

Rocket makes multiple appearances in the attraction, including as an Audio-Animatronics character who invades The Collector’s Office to ask guests for a hand with his escape plan.

From the anticipation guests will feel as they enter The Collector’s Fortress to the sense of discovery as they tour the Tivan Collection to the elation of participating in a successful breakout, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is an unforgettable adventure into the Super Hero universe at Disney California Adventure.

Avengers Join In On The Fun During Disneyland’s Summer of Heroes

Disneyland is kicking the season off with it’s epic Summer of Heroes. For a limited time you can step up to the challenge with the Avengers team at Disney California Adventure Park! Beginning this weekend special entertainment and limited-time experiences will thrill guests of all ages as some favorite Super Hero stories come to life in Hollywood Land.

An ever- shifting assemblage of super beings, adventurers and crime fighters are devoted to protecting the planet from menaces beyond the scope of conventional authorities. The Avengers, the most prestigious and mightiest Super Hero team on Earth, will be on hand for meet and greets at special locations throughout Hollywood Land.

The friendly neighborhood web-slinger Spider-Man swoops in from New York City. As guests meet with Spider-Man, they will notice the area features nods to the Daily Bugle, the newspaper where Peter Parker is a photographer.

Captain America, considered the First Avenger, flexes his strength for guests, wielding a special shield made of the precious metal vibranium, found in the African nation of Wakanda. Guests will encounter Captain America outside a New York Police Station, decked out in red, white and blue bunting.

World-class archer and marksman Hawkeye, also known as Agent Clint Barton, will be on hand to help train new recruits.

When not training new recruits, the heroine Black Widow canvasses the Hollywood Back Lot, interacting with guests and civilians in a black armored vehicle, known as the Avengers Armored Transport.

A vital member of the Avengers team, Black Widow will use her espionage skills while on a secret mission in Hollywood Land. Once she steps from the vehicle, Black Widow will assemble her throng of new recruits in order to document everyone’s most heroic poses with phenomenal photos.

The Avengers join with The Guardians of the Galaxy to invite guests to Hero Up this summer through September 10 at Disney California Adventure Park. Will you accept the challenge?

Windtraders Provides Unique and Immersive Shopping Experience for Pandora Visitors

Most visitors think that if you’ve seen one Walt Disney World gift shop you’ve seen them all. However, you may be in for a surprise as Windtraders at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is working to break this mold by providing guests with a retail opportunity that keeps visitors immersed in the vibrant and rich surroundings of Pandora – The World of Avatar.

Hidden behind a colorful facade and thatched roof, what guests will find is an absolute treasure trove of over 200 out-of-this-world souvenirs. Chris Edward, Area Manager for Merchandise Presentation at Disney’s Animal Kingdom had this to say about the surroundings, “[Windtraders] is located in an abandoned building that was once occupied by the Resources Development Administration (RDA). We used what was left behind on Pandora by the RDA to set up the location. Guests will not find mannequins displaying apparel as they aren’t something that would have been shipped from Earth by the RDA. We did, however, use RDA equipment cases, wood from Pandora, or, in some instances, woven baskets provided by the Na’vi to display products.”

Merchandise also plays a key role in keeping visitors engaged in the world around them as well as in Na’vi culture. Whether is items that pay homage to the bioluminescent world of Pandora, Navi-themed headbands, tails and hooded jackets, or drums and light up toys, there’s bound to be that special item that will appeal to visitors of all ages.

In a shop that appears to be taken over by plant life with root structures that creep through the center of the building and in may cases are used to showcase the merchandise, it’s no wonder that guests will also find an eclectic array of plants available for purchase. This ties in nice with Animal Kingdom’s overall focus the environment, sustainability and conservation.

Scattered among the roots, guests will also find a couple of very interesting areas. The first is the Bead Bar. Here guests can design one-of-a-kind necklaces inspired by the Na’vi.

If there’s one area of Windtraders that is already creative massive buzz it’s the Rookery. Here guests under the tutelage of cast members go though the process of picking their own interactive banshee which you can take home for $50.00.

And thought the temptation when hitting up Windtraders may be to go in, shop and head out, there is so much beauty in the little details that its worth exploring. For instance, check out the hand-carved native animals that are found on displays throughout the shop. Look up in the rookery to see the stunning hand-painted map of Pandora. The Imagineering team has filled this wonderful shop with lots of little surprises. Finding them is half the fun!

The are so many things to discover at Windtraders that you’ll definitely want to set aside some time in your touring plan to take in all the shop has to offer!

Local Boys and Girls Clubs Enjoyed a Special Preview of Pandora – The World of Avatar

Friday May 26th nearly 1,500 kids from Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida were welcomed into Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. During this special preview the kids transformed into adventurers as they explored Pandora.

As adventurers they walked into the land of Pandora and were taken on an otherworldly transformative experience they will never forget. It’s a journey to a distant world where floating mountains defy gravity and unbelievable sights and experiences await.

Pandora – The World of Avatar officially opened Saturday May 27th at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

It’s so nice to hear that this great group of kids got to enjoy a special day thanks to Disney!

Video of "Disney Movie Magic!" the Surprise New Nighttime Show at Hollywood Studios — Cinderella Castle

Friday we announced that Disney would be surprising us all with a brand new projection show at Hollywood Studios. Even though Disney has yet to formally announce “Disney Movie Magic!” to the world, we have the video to share with all of you! Spoiler alert…..It it AWESOME!

Scenes of multiple live action Disney films are projected up on the Chinese Theater facade (similar to Star Wars : A Galactic Spectacular). The montage of movies displayed include favorites such as Mary Poppins, Tron, Pirates of the Caribbean, Guardians of the Galaxy, and more! Walt Disney himself even make an appearance during one of the segments.

This new show runs about 10 minutes in length and proceeds “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular”. There is about 20 minutes in between the ending of “Disney Movie Magic!” and the start of Star Wars.

“The Music of Pixar Live!” also made its debut this weekend making it the second new entertainment offering at Hollywood Studios.

This addition will make visitors think very hard about how they want to spend their evening at Hollywood Studios. Unless Fantasmic! has two showings, it will be impossible to see all 3 nighttime shows in one evening. Currently “Disney Movie Magic!” and “Fantasmic!” both begin at 9 pm.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Are Now At Disney California Adventure Park

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission:Breakout!, Disneyland’s newest attraction opened yesterday to rave reviews. It was so popular that we saw reports coming in for wait times of 5 hours! Here are some of our favorite meets and moments from The Guardians of the Galaxy events happening all summer.

Guests can boogie with the cosmic heroes Star-Lord and Gamora during “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off!”

Grown-up Groot visits with guests during the epic dance-off where they will hear him utter his three favorite words “I am Groot!”

Look at that detail!

Rocket can be found inside The Collector’s Fortress. Known for his uncanny ability to break out of any confined space or prison, he emerges in the private office of The Collector to help guests free his fellow Guardians.

Disneyland had a very impressive grand opening celebration last Thursday night (see the video here) for their newest attraction “Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!”. The stars and filmmakers from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise all came out to commemorate the occasion.

Zoe Saldana and Benicio del Toro got in on the fun with Saldana standing with Krylorian attendants. Meanwhile Benicio del Toro poses with the statue of his Guardians character, ‘The Collector’.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! entices guests with an original storyline based on the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, comics and animated television series, with a rapid rise into chaotic adventure and surprising visuals. The fast-paced action rocks to the beat of music inspired by the films’ soundtracks, including classic rock and pop music from the ‘60s, ‘70s and early ‘80s. And with multiple ride profiles, guests never know which adventure they’ll get.

Fantastically Magical Disney Inspired Candles with Trading Pins!

Okay lovelies, I have discovered a true Etsy gem! We all love candles, and we all love pins, so these Disney Inspired candles with trading pins inside by wishescandleco, are a match made with pixie dust!

Each of these candles are a hand poured 8 oz candle that contains a random Disney trading pin within. It reminds me of the “Diamond Candles” I was once obsessed with years ago. That was before I discovered all the scent-sational Disney candles that are out there. These are an all natural soy wax, making for the perfect flame with no black soot. In my first one I actually got a pin of my son’s favorite character, so he loves these mystery pin candles just as much as I do now! They’ve expanded their fragrances a lot, and even have a whole collection of Epcot inspired candles now!
