These Chocolate Treats from The Ganachery at Disney Springs are a Must for Fall

Disney Springs

The Ganachery at Disney Springs has really outdone themselves with these tempting chocolate treats made just for the Fall! With everything from pumpkin spice latte-flavored chocolate ganache squares to an adults-only hot chocolate, the hardest part will be deciding which one to try first!

Let’s take a closer look at some of these spooky and fall-inspired delectables:

Disney Springs

First off is a sandwich-inspired PB&J S’more! This back-to-school treat features house-made graham crackers smothered in peanut butter ganache, topped with raspberry jelly, and finished off with a vanilla bean marshmallow that is roasted to order.

Disney Springs

For those who want to skip the graham crackers and get straight to the fluff, try a Madagascan vanilla bean marshmallow. This bite-sized sweet is dipped in creamy milk chocolate and garnished with a dash of crispies to add that extra ‘crunch.’

Disney Springs

If you’re anything like me, though, you’re getting excited for all of those classic fall flavors. This year, the chocolatiers at The Ganachery have created several new fall-inspired recipes, starting with a tasty take on a traditional drink–hot cocoa. This classic sipping chocolate is topped with vanilla bean whipped cream and dark chocolate crispy pearls. For the adults, this drink is also offered with a dash of Bailey’s liqueur to add that extra warmth!

Disney Springs

In addition, you’ll also find pumpkin spice latte-flavored and maple pecan-flavored chocolate ganache squares. These squares are decorated with fall and Halloween-themed designs that add a spooky flair to your tasty experience.

Disney Springs

Lastly, these spine-chilling skeleton skulls are just the thing to get you in the Halloween spirit! These decadent dark chocolate skulls come in two sizes. The smaller bite-sized chocolate skull is filled with salted caramel ganache, while the larger skull is served hollow. Both skulls are made with 65% dark chocolate and brushed with bronze deco powder.

Disney Springs

You can begin to sink your teeth into these amazing chocolate treats starting September 29 and throughout October at The Ganachery located at Disney Springs! So, which one will you be trying first?

Epcot International Food & Wine Festival’s Amazing Sips & Bites

Sips & Bites

The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival draws in thousands of guests daily.  Chefs design menus representative of countries around the world.  Here is our photo tour of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival’s Amazing Sips & Bites.

Lets begin with the Culinary Corridor:

Across from Journey Into Imagination in Future World, the new Flavors From Fire is very popular this year.  Here is where you will find some very interesting Sips & Bites.  The Piggy Wings, Sweet Pancake and Smoked Corned Beef are all good with the Piggy Wings being a crowd favorite.  The Swine Brine is interesting for the adventurous type (too sour for us) and we liked the Ravenswood Zinfandel.  If you enjoy your chocolate with a bit of a kick, you will want to order the Chocolate Picante.

The new Light Lab is located beside Club Cool in Future World.  The most popular item is the Glow-nut with sprinkles that give off a bio-luminescent appearance.  For safety reasons, they are not able to have it dark inside this space but it was pretty cool to see.

Earth Eats can be found in the Courtyard opposite the Club Cool building.  Here you will find the Ricotta and Zucchini Ravioli, Grilled Beef Skewer and Peanut Butter and White Chocolate Mousse.  We enjoyed the Ravioli and a guest commented to us that the Beef Skewer and the Mousse are “delightful.”

Active Eats can be found in the same Courtyard as Earth Eats.  Here you can find some healthy options such as Roasted Verlasso Salmon and Sweet Avocado Crema.  The Avocado Crema is light and not overly sweet.  The Salmon combines very nicely with the Quinoa Salad and Arugula Chimichurri.

If you are a Seafood Lover then Coastal Eats is your food kiosk!  The Baked Shrimp Scampi Dip, Lump Crab Cake and Seared Scallops are all excellent.  This food kiosk also had the longest line that we experienced the entire day so be sure to stop here early on.

The Chocolate Studio is offering some yummy sweet Sips & Bites.  The Liquid Nitro Chocolate Almond Truffle and the Sweet Dark Chocolate Raspberry Torte are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.  The Banfi Rosa Regale is a good beverage choice.

The Cheese Studio offers Braised Beef Stroganoff, Savory Caramelized Boursin Garlic and Fine Herbs Cheese Tart and a Cheese Trio.  We spoke with guests about these items and the Cheese Tart was widely liked amongst the people we spoke with.

The Wine and Dine Studio offers Seared Scallops, Artist Palette of Wine and Cheese, Pulled Duck Confit and a Trio of Artisan Cheese.  We did not care for the Pulled Duck Confit.  The Trio of Artisan Cheese is a hit amongst the guests.

Epcot International Food & Wine Festival's Amazing Sips & Bites

Annual Passholders can collect 8 2017 buttons from each of the above 8 food kiosks included in the Culinary Corridor.  Each button can be received with any purchase and proof of annual pass.

Islands of the Caribbean is serving up some yummy Mojo Pork, Quesito Pastry as well as a Jamaican Beef Patty.

New Zealand has a lovely and flavorful Lamb Meatball that is delicious.

Australia is famous for its Lamb Chop, however they changed them up this year to a Grilled Lamb T-bone and fans are not too happy about it.   The Grilled Sweet and Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp is good.  The Lamington has chocolate and coconut so if you like that combination, this treat is for you.

The Almond Orchard is new to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival this year.  During other times of the year this location is often known as the “Pineapple Promenade.”  All food items here are made with Almond Breeze, Almond Milk.  The Banana Almond Soft-serve Sundae was incredibly popular while we were there.

Patagonia is serving up Beef Empenadas and Grilled Beef Skewers.

Hawai’i has some amazing Sparkling Pineapple Wine that is a must for anyone who enjoys Wine.  The Kalua Pork Slider, Grilled Tuna Tataki and Passion Fruit Cheesecake are all excellent choices.

Farm Fresh kiosk is serving up Crispy Chicken and Roasted Beet Salad.  Both are very flavorful options.

Greece has some great options with the Loaded Greek “Nachos” being the most popular item on the menu.  You can also try the Taste of Greece, Spanakopita and Bougatsa.

Thailand is serving up some savory and spicy options.

Mexico’s Rib Eye Taco is absolutely delicious and the Cajeta Mousse adds a touch of sweet to the choices.  If you like a little spice then the Tequila Chipotle Shrimp is what you will want to try.

China has great choices.  We loved the Beijing Roasted Duck and Mango Bubble Tea and these were among our favorite Sips & Bites.  The Spicy Chicken, Black Pepper Shrimp and Pot Stickers are all great options too.

India’s Pistachio Cardamom Bundt Cake was one of our favorite sweet options offered for the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.   Guests that we spoke with like the flavors of the Korma Chicken, the Madras Red Curry and the Warm Indian Bread.

Africa offers some flavorful Sips & Bites.  We recommend the Spicy Ethiopian Red Lentil Stew.  The Spinach and Paneer Cheese Pocket will also pack a punch and you may need a bit of water, along with your wine flight, to wash it all down.

One of the most amazing bites on offer at the Epcot International Food  & Wine Festival is the Apple Streudel.  While the Roasted Bratwurst and the Schinkennudeln and the Wine Flight are all good in their own right, the Apple Streudel topped them all.

Spain has a very good traditional Spanish Paella.  The Charcuterie in a Cone and the Seafood Salad are both visually appealing.  The Wine Flight is good with a nice variety that goes well with the food options.

Italy never disappoints.  The Crispy Calamari is very good.  If you enjoy a bit of pasta then the Absolut Penne is a great choice.  The Spezzatino con Polenta is popular amongst the guests and the Cannoli al Cioccolato is a must.

The Hops & Barley Market offers New England Lobster Roll, Smoked Beef Brisket and Freshly Baked Carrot Cake.  Be sure to check out the Beer Flight to enhance your meal.

Japan offers some interesting food choices.  Be sure to try one of the “Snow Shadow” Sake’s.

Be sure to try the Mimosa Royale and the Moroccan Sangria from the Morocco food kiosk.  The Chocolate Baklava is excellent as well.

The ever-popular Belgium Waffles are available with Berry Compote or Chocolate and Whipped Cream.  Just pick your favorite!

The Brazil food kiosk has their famous Pao de Queijo (Brazilian Cheese Bread) again this year.  Pair this with a “Little Hidden One” Meat Pie and a Forzen Caipirinha for a fabulous meal.  Brazil is also the place to try a Black Beer with Crispy Pork Belly.

France is where you will find the wonderful Warm Goat Cheese Pudding with Spinach.  Pair that with a glass of of St-Germain Sparkling Kir for a delicious snack.  Amongst the fans, the La Passion Martini Slush is incredibly popular with the Escargot Croissant.

Ireland is serving up some awesome Sips & Bites with Roasted Irish Sausage, Warm Irish Cheddar Cheese and Stout Dip and Warm Chocolate Pudding.  The Twinings Pumpkin Chai Tea is very good while the Honey Wine and the two Blondes, pictured above, are fun choices too.

The Traditional Scottish Lamb Stew is tasty and the Smoked Salmon on the Fresh Potato Pancake was definitely not a favortie.  The Tipsy Laird however, was excellent.

It s almost impossible to not stop by the food kiosk in Canada for the Cheddar Cheese Soup with Pretzel Roll.  And the “Le Cellier” Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon cannot be beat!

This concludes our tour of the food kiosks around the World Showcase.  Keep in mind that our favorites may not be representative of what you enjoy so be sure to try some favorites of your own and be willing to try something new too!  No matter how you look at it the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival has some really amazing Sips & Bites with enough on offer to please even the most discerning palate.  Let us know what your favorites are.

What are your favorite Sips & Bites from the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival 2017?  Please leave your comments in the box below.

Disney World is Growing and So Is the Road Construction

Walt Disney World

There are several new attractions lined up to debut at Disney World in the next few years. Pandora – The World of Avatar’s opening this past May is just the tip of the iceberg on things to come at Disney World as they gear up for their 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2021. With all of the new additions also comes the need for new and improved roads for the Resort.

Reedy Creek Improvement District, the Disney-controlled taxing district that brings government resources to Disney World, is in the middle of working on $800 million worth of road construction projects. These projects began in 2013 and have a completion date of 2020. For comparison sakes, Reedy Creek usually works on about $5 million to $10 million in projects each year.

Here are some of the projects currently being worked on:

  • New parking garage for Disney Springs: Construction on the $107 million garage is scheduled to being in October. The new garage will be located across Buena Vista Drive from Disney Springs and will be able to park 3,000 vehicles. The new garage is projected to open in 2019.
  • A new entrance to Hollywood Studios: The addition of the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019 will lead to a new Hollywood Studios entrance. The new entrance is part of the $196 million construction project on Oscoeloa Parkway interchange between Hollywood Studios and the ESPN Complex. The new entrance should be open by 2018.
  • Flyover near the Magic Kingdom Entrance: The $65 million flyover is being built to help alleviate congestion and make it easier to get to the Magic Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom Resorts from World Drive. The new flyover is scheduled to be open by 2018.
  • Epcot Center Drive interchange construction: The $96 million project is supposed to wrap up by the end of this year.

Even though the construction can be a pain to deal with at times, it will payoff in the end when getting around Disney World is a whole lot easier!

Have Mousekeeping Services Been Scaled Back in the Aftermath of Hurricane Irma?

Have Mousekeeping Services Been Scaled Back in the Aftermath of Hurricane Irma?

It goes without saying that it has been a hectic week at Walt Disney World due to extreme weather in the Orlando area as a result of Hurricane Irma. While Cast Members across the theme parks are dealing with closures due to damage and debris, cancellations and variety of other Irma related concerns, guests visiting Walt Disney World this week have taken to Walt Disney World’s official Facebook page over the last few days to voice their concerns over inadequate Mousekeeping Services during their stay.

Several guests have left visitor posts highlighting that Mousekeepers have not been available to service their rooms or are instead providing limited services.  An article that ran in the Inquisitor earlier this morning highlighted that this was likely due to the fact that the number of cast members working throughout the storm was limited and that as a result, certain services across the theme parks and resorts had to be adjusted.

Common complaints with those voicing their mousekeeping concerns were that staff were not on hand to replace linens, make beds or provide additional housekeeping services to guest rooms.   Since the theme parks were closed, guests found themselves spending more time in their resort rooms than usual and felt that they would’ve benefited from the usual level of service.

It is not surprising that mousekeeping comments were meant with divided opinions.  Many readers praised Disney for working tirelessly to keep guests safe during the storm and understood the limitations that limited staff would have on the visitor experience.   Others however sympathized with the lack of services being offered to those staying at Disney World in the aftermath of the storm.

Where do you stand? Would you be accepting of limited services in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, or would you expect it to be business as usual? Feel free to share your comments below.
