Disney Cruise Line just announced that your favorite Guardians of the Galaxy Super Heroes will be joining the line up for their Marvel Day at Sea Sailings this Fall! Now guests on these specially-themed cruises have the opportunity to sail the high seas with Star-Lord, Gamora and Groot!

Also announced is an adult-exclusive Marvel Day at Sea experience inspired by the Guardian’s interstellar adventures. After a full day of family events, what should you do next? Something good, something bad? Bit of both? Well, we’re giving adults time to kick back in Fathoms nightclub, now a Ravager hideout.

While you mingle with the interstellar outlaws, an electrifying alien dance performance gets the fun started, amping up the energy before a few of your favorite Guardians join the party. As the night continues, you may even get to see the dance-loving Star-Lord get his groove on. As Drax says, “There are two types of beings in the universe: those who dance and those who do not.” Which type are you?

Any idea what tunes will be on the playlist throughout the night? You guessed it! Top tracks from Star-Lord’s Awesome Mixtape!

Throughout the summer, Disney will be releasing more details about the Marvel Day at Sea voyages, including the Super Heroes and Villains you’ll meet, plus the activities that will transport you in the Marvel Universe. This epic event premieres on select 7- and 8-night Bahamian and Canada cruises from New York this fall, and returns on select 5-night Western Caribbean cruises from Miami in early 2018. All of these sailings will be aboard the Disney Magic Cruise Ship.

Two New Dining Spots to Open at Disney Springs in 2018

The constant arrival of new culinary offerings shows no signs of slow at Disney Springs as Disney announced today that two new eateries will be added to the mix in 2018. This includes the latest offering from renowned Chef Wolfgang Puck who is bringing his bar & grill concept to the East Coast and a bit of Spanish flair from Chef José Andrés’ who will be opening tapas restaurant Jaleo. Here’s what we know so far about these exciting new developments:

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill – With this new Town Center eatery, Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill will capitalize on the popularity of the chef’s other two Disney Springs eateries Wolfgang Puck’s Grand Cafe (pictured) and Wolfgang Puck Express. The restaurant will be a Bar & Grill with a twist and will get its inspiration from traditional farmhouses with a touch of elegance. The atmosphere will be laid-back California dining at its best. The menu will be designed to highlight Puck’s much-loved dishes with an emphasis on Mediterranean flavors, modern interpretations of classic comfort foods, specialty cocktails as well as beer and wine.

Jaleo by José Andrés’ – a concept by world-renowned Chef José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup, this West Side eatery will bring the flavors of Spain to Disney Springs with a mouth-watering menu featuring tapas dishes designed to celebrate the diversity and range of flavors in contemporary Spanish cooking. Menu items will include paella, hand carved Jamon Iberico de Bellota and wood-grilled Iberico pork. This concept which currently has five locations throughout the USA and Mexico will be the first location in Florida and will also feature a “grab-n-go” storefront offering Spanish-style sandwiches.

We hope you are as excited as we are about this tasty new restaurants. As its early days, there’s no official word yet on opening dates but readers and encouraged to watch this space for further details.

ACE Avatar Maker Uses Facial Scans To Create Personalized Avatar Action Figures

Disney has created a very cool souvenir opportunity for visitors to Pandora – The World of Avatar. We have talked about owning your own banshee but now guests can take things a step further by creating their own avatar to take home too!

Inside Windtraders, the Pandoran gift shop, an Alpha Centauri Expedition Scan Technician will use a state-of-the-art facial capture scanner to enter your information into their Hybrid Digitizing System. After your image has been scanned you will then have the opportunity to choose your avatar’s body style from four different choices in either youth or adult sizes.

Next you choose eye color, hairstyle, and facial striping pattern. During this process your technician is telling you interesting facts about the Na’vi. One of these interesting tidbits is that your avatar will always have dark hair because the Na’vi gene for dark hair is dominant.

After you finish customizing you will then received an ACE identification tag. This tag is a keepsake that is used at the ACE Avatar Maker Fabricator to receive your completed action figure. There is usually about a 30 minute to an hour wait before being able to use your tag (depending on how busy the shop is).

When asked about these unique mementos, Cody Hampton, merchandise product developer explained, “We were inspired by the breathtaking Avatar Flight of Passage attraction when designing ACE Avatar Maker. During the attraction, guests are connected with an avatar for first-person flight on a banshee over the moon’s incredible landscape. We thought guests would love to see what they actually look like as a human/Na’vi hybrid. Using a digital process, guests can now create and personalize their own avatar action figure.”

Accessory sets are also available for purchase inside Windtraders.

The cost is about $70 for the personalized 10″ poseable action figure. Reservations are required for this experience. They can be made inside Windtraders on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Six Original Animated Shorts With Newest Avengers Starts Fourth Season

The Avengers assemble once again to fight the foes no single hero could withstand alone as “Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars” (previously “Marvel’s Avengers: Ultron Revolution”) debuts a fourth season with a one-hour premiere on Saturday, June 17 (11:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. EDT), on Disney XD, and on the Disney XD App and VOD (12:01 a.m. EDT). Disney XD will also present a series of six shorts featuring the newest Avengers – Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Ms. Marvel, Ant-Man, Wasp and Vision – in a flashback sequence that introduces their powers, beginning Friday, June 2, on Disney XD, the Disney XD App, Disney XD YouTube and VOD.

Picking up right after the events of season three “Ultron Revolution,” the fourth season finds Tony Stark trapped in another dimension. While the Avengers muster all of their knowledge and strength to try and find a way to bring him back, they are attacked by a new Cabal of villains who scatter the mighty heroes across space and time. With the help of the Black Panther’s new team, including Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Ant-Man, Wasp and Vision, the Avengers must reunite in time to save the universe.

The multiplatform schedule is:

FRIDAY, JUNE 2 – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7
• Six original shorts will debut daily on Disney XD linear, on-demand and digital platforms. All six shorts will be available on Friday, June 2, on the Disney XD App. In the animated shorts, we meet the newest Avengers in a flashback sequence to learn about their background, super powers and, ultimately, what makes them super heroes.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is now open at California Adventure park, kicking off our Summer of Heroes with daring missions, heroic encounters, and even a dance-off to Star-Lord’s old-school rock ‘n’ roll mixtape. Starting June 14, you can also suit up for Super Hero Summer at Hong Kong Disneyland park and step into a new walk-through Avengers Agent mission set in Hong Kong.

Pandora – The World of Avatar is now open at Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World, where you can journey 4.4 light years away from Earth for the chance to take in the awe-inspiring beauty of the Valley of Mo’ara. Learn key phrases in the Na’vi language, ride on the back of a banshee and bask in the beautiful bioluminescent glow of the land after sundown.

You can also treat yourself to dazzling nighttime entertainment at all of our Disney parks this summer. And in just a few weeks, Shanghai Disney Resort – which recently welcomed its 10 millionth guest – will be celebrating its first anniversary with a month of festivities and a magical moment at Enchanted Storybook Castle on June 16.

Exterior Painting Begins at Narcoossee, at Disney’s Grand Floridian

Beginning Tuesday May 30th, Narcoossee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa will be getting a new coat of paint. During this time the window blinds inside Narcoossee will be closed to block the view of the work going on, as a result, views of Seven Seas Lagoon will be unavailable during guest’s dining experience.

Guests with dining reservations at Narcoossee, hoping to have a view of the fireworks, will be directed to Narcoossee’s Landing and treated to a private waterfront viewing of Magic Kingdom’s newest fireworks show “Happily Ever After.”

Disney is always working on magical enhancements across the Walt Disney World Resort property. They truly go above and beyond to make certain resorts guests are not disrupted during these times. Work on the exterior painting will take place between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with the possibility of some less intrusive work extending until 7 p.m. Completion of the work to Narcoossee’s exterior, is expected mid-June.

Minnie’s Summertime Dine Begins Next Week

Minnie is kicking off summer early with her celebration of the season at Hollywood Studios. Minnie’s Summertime Dine is available June 5th through September 3rd at Hollywood and Vine. Guests will meet Minnie, Mickey, Daisy, Donald and Goofy in their best beachy attire.

This character meal is available for dinner only and is served buffet style. Some of the dishes will include fried shrimp and chips, peach-glazed barbeque pork, as well as spinach and arugula strawberry salad. Desserts offered will include passion fruit tarts and blueberry lemon cupcakes.

Minnie’s Seasonal Dining events cost $50 per adult and $30 per child, plus tax and gratuity. Some dining plans accepted.

Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine will still be offered for breakfast and lunch.

Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land Photo Update

Many of us are anxiously awaiting any news on the construction progress of Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While the areas may not look like much now; we are beginning to see some structures appearing. We shared yesterday an aerial view of the Toy Story Land Construction in case you missed it. Today we wanted to show you what it looks like here on the ground.

Less than two months ago, we could see straight through Star Wars Land. Now we are seeing walls for future structures going up. We also noticed a metal tube extending from the former Writer’s Stop to the only remaining building of the former Streets of America. While we do not know the purpose of this tubing, we are intrigued.

Toy Story Land is a bit more elusive with piles of dirt being the primary visual. We took a snapshot under a crack in the fence that revealed more dirt, a concrete curb and a building in the distance.

We will continue to keep you updated periodically with photos as we follow the progress of these two new lands.

Eye-Catching Pandoran Opening Day Merchandise at Riverside Depot

The bioluminescent colors of Pandora are truly stunning. While opening day was as busy as you would imagine, you could also purchase the opening day merchandise and not enter Pandora-The World of Avatar at all! Eye-Catching Pandoran Opening Day Merchandise was also available for purchase at the Riverside Depot Shop near the Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom.

Riverside Depot featured the Eye-Catching Pandoran Opening Day Merchandise as well as Opening Day Passholder Merchandise. Inside Riverside Depot we hopped on the line and were greeted by a Cast Member. He showed us what merchandise was available behind the counter on a laminated sheet of paper. When we arrived Saturday evening, at 6:15pm, the Annual Passholder pin was sold out. This pin was available during the Annual Passholder previews and is not a limited edition pin. Therefore, they will be getting more in at a future date yet to be determined. When we made it to the front of line, another Cast Member asked what items we wished to purchased. He escorted us to the next available cashier and told her what items we wanted. She gathered those items and rang them up. We paid for our merchandise and off we went to join the FastPass line to enter Pandora-The World of Avatar. We continue to be impressed with the organization that we have witnessed through Annual Pass and Media Previews; and now for Opening Day!

Our personal favorite Opening Day merchandise item is the Teal Annual Passholder Magic Band 2. We are in love with this new color!

Pandora-The World of Avatar’s Opening Day pin is lovely. It opens to show a bioluminescent Pandoran scene with beautiful colors as we have been seeing as part of the Pandora theme.

We adore this Opening Day Lanyard. The colors are truly eye-catching with the blues, greens and the burst of pink. This lanyard makes the perfect addition to the Opening Day pin.

Feels like we have been waiting such a long time for the opening of Pandora-The World of Avatar. The merchandise is so pretty and we love the colors featured in these pieces. Delicious Disney Dining Series

On May 31, the next chapter of the Disney Dinning Series continues at Markham’s at Golden Oak. This Disney storytelling dining event will celebrate the anniversary of the 1932 Silly Symphonies “Flowers and Trees” cartoon produced by Walt Disney. Park Events Operations’ Chef John Clark and his team will be creating alongside Golden Oak Chef Phillip Ponticelli. Disney’s residential home community, Golden Oak, is home to Markham’s. This restaurant is one of only three on Disney property designated as Signature Plus (Victoria and Alberts and California Grill being the other two).

Additional events in the Disney Dining Series include

A culinary tribute to the 10th anniversary of the Disney•Pixar film “Ratatouille” with Chef Dominique Filoni and his team from Cítricos at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at 6:30 p.m. June 28.
A journey under the sea of exotic and exquisite tastes with Chef Timothy Majoras and team from Flying Fish at Disney’s BoardWalk is 6:30 p.m. July 19.

July 4 at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is celebrating America’s birthday with a cookout at the resort’s Summerhouse from 7-8:30 p.m. The fun doesn’t stop there as guests will then move to the resort’s marina to enjoy sweets while watching the Magic Kingdom‘s 4th of July fireworks. (If it rains, the event will move to the Grand Floridian Convention Center.)

The dinner includes grilled steak and shrimp with plenty of sides. Classic hot dogs and baked beans will also be served with specialty drinks, beer and wine. There’s a live DJ and crafts for kids throughout the evening.

Cost is $120 plus tax, gratuity is included; $59 ages 3 to 11. For reservations, 407-WDW-DINE.

Napa Rose Food and Wine Pairing Experience

Each week Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland Resort offers one-hour culinary seminars. Every Saturday from 2 to 3 pm this award winning restaurant will introduce guests to three cheeses, two charcuterie-style tastes and five wines. Each seminar is $95 and can be booked by calling 714-781-3463.

Disneyland’s Space Mountain Turns 40

While all of the excitement this Memorial Day weekend centering around the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission: BREAKOUT! A much loved Disney attraction quietly celebrated its 40th Anniversary.

One of Disney’s most popular coasters, Space Mountain first opened at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Resort in 1975 with construction happening on the West Coast shortly thereafter.

Here’s a shot shared by Disney Parks Blog of the construction of this iconic mountain taken in 1976.

The attraction first opened at Disneyland on May 27th, 1977 where six of the original seven Mercury astronauts were in attendance : Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper, Senator John Glenn, Wally Schirra, Alan Shepard, and Deke Slayton.

Since then, Space Mountain has been transformed into a few different incarnations. From Rock It Space Mountain and Rockin Space Mountain, Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and the Star Wars themed Hyperspace Mountain, guests to Disneyland have been able to enjoy many captivating ride experiences over the past four decades. The last on the list, Hyperspace Mountain which is currently running at Disneyland will officially close on May 29, 2017.

Those looking for a big dose of Disney nostalgia, should head on over to Disneyland’s Space Mountain on or after June 1st when the ride officially re-opens in its classic form in a fitting birthday tribute.

Those unfamiliar with the classic version will fall in love with this journey through the cosmos. You’ll wiz through space past constellations and shooting stars, bob and weave your way past comets and meteors and plunge into darkness on this space-aged thrill ride like no other.
