A new collection of Disney themed kitchen items has zoomed onto the Disney Store website! You can now rev up your kitchen with Lightning McQueen Kitchen appliances! Recently Disney has taken kitchen goodies above the Mickey Waffle Makers, and even added Captain America to the Mix. I’m so excited when ever I see new kitchen appliances with different characters.

Lightning McQueen Slow Cooker

Lightning McQueen is best known for his speed around the track, but in the kitchen he likes to takes things a little more leisurely. Sporting a racy black paint scheme, this slow cooker features a large four quart capacity, and three cook settings

Lightning McQueen Waffle Maker

Walt Disney World Files Nearly A Dozen Lawsuits Contesting Steep Property Taxes

According to a piece recently released by the Orlando Sentinel, it would appear that Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is set to square off against the tax man. It is being reported that Disney has recently filed nearly a dozen lawsuits to dispute what they are seeing as unfair tax assessments on their properties from 2016.

The lawsuits were filed last month in Orange Circuit Court against Appraiser Rick Singh as well as tax collectors and the Florida Department of Revenue.

It is not the first time that Orlando theme parks have gone to court over what they deem as unfair property taxes In October of last year Disney, Universal Orlando and Sea World all sued Singh over high property taxes. Universal and Loews Hotels are also currently locked in a dispute similar to Disney’s over the assessments of four of their properties including: Hard Rock, Cabana Bay, Portofino Bay and Royal Pacific.

The lawsuit, as reported by the Orlando Sentinel, revealed that Singh assessed Disney’s Epcot at $446 million, Magic Kingdom at $437 million and Hollywood Studios at $339 million. Several of Walt Disney World’s resorts are also included in the dispute including: Animal Kingdom Lodge, which was assessed at $153 million as well as the Caribbean Beach Resort assessed at $209 million.

4th of July Events Scheduled For Disney World This Year

The Fourth of July is a great time to celebrate with family and friends. Walt Disney World has some amazing events lined up that families can enjoy while wishing America a Happy Birthday. This year all four parks will be marking the occasion with patriotic events like parades, live music, and spectacular fireworks shows.

Disney Springs is also getting into the spirit of things. They will be throwing a street party with live entertainment and even their own fireworks.

For two evenings, Magic Kingdom will be hosting a “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks show at 9 p.m. both July 3rd and 4th.

EPCOT will be adding the “Heartbeat of Freedom” finale to the end of its standard Illuminations nighttime spectacular. Illuminations will begin at 9 p.m.

Gelatoni Merchandise Surfs into the Aulani Disney resort and Spa

Exciting news for for fans of Duffy Bear and his friends! June 14th will see the arrival of Gelatoni merchandise, featuring Duffy’s friend Gelatoni! Gelatoni made his debut a few years ago at the Tokyo Disney Resort.

Aulani Resort was the first North American resort to see the arrival of Duffy’s pal ShellieMay, before she started popping up at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort. Gelatoni is an adorable artist cat that Duffy met while exploring Tokyo Sea. Duffy fans have been in love with him ever since. These Gelatoni items were created exclusively for Aulani. The new collection features a cool array of new merchandise. You’ll fine delightful new items from snuggly plush in Hawaiian vacation garb, to collectible souvenirs and accessories. There will be a total of 13 new items, and Aulani will be the only place in the U.S. to offer Gelatoni merchandise at this time.

Not to be left out of the fun, Duffy Bear and his best pal ShellieMay will also have new Aulani plush toys. Duffy is dressed in a dashing aloha shirt, and ShellieMay is wearing a coordinating dress. The Tori Richard-designed outfits depict various Aulani iconography in the tropical print designs. The prints even include the mischievous Menehune found throughout the resort.

Disney Plans Lighthouse Statue to Honor Child Killed by Alligator

Disney has announced that a lighthouse statue will be added to the Walt Disney World property in honor of Lane Graves, the toddler killed by an alligator last June.

A lighthouse was chosen because it is the symbol of The Lane Thomas Foundation. The foundation was stated by the Graves Family as a way for their son’s legacy to live on. The intent for the foundation to serve as a “beacon of hope” for other families in crisis. The family chose to use Lane’s first and last name because when anyone asked his name he always responded, “I’m Lane Thomas. I’m two.”

“To provide continued awareness of the foundation and its mission, we’ve commissioned an original sculpture of the lighthouse the foundation uses as a symbol of love and hope, to be installed on our property this summer,” George A. Kalogridis, president of Walt Disney World Resort, said in a statement Tuesday.

Tomorrow, June 14, makes the tragic one year anniversary of Lanes’ passing. Lane and his family were enjoying an evening on the shoreline of The Grand Floridan Resort and Spa. Lane was playing in the sand on the beach area of the resort when an alligator appeared from the Seven Seas Lagoon and pulled him under. Lanes’ father, Matt Graves, jumped in to fight the gator off but was unsuccessful. Lane’s body was later recovered and his death was ruled an accident.

This tragedy brought some changes to the Walt Disney World Resort. Fences were added to the shorelines of resorts that were directly on a body of water and signs were installed advising guests that reptiles were present in the water around Disney World.

The location of the lighthouse statue has not been announced.

D23 Expo Announces Exciting Entertainers, Panels, and More for this Year’s Expo

In just over a month Disney Fans will be arriving at Disneyland for this year’s D23 Expo! Today, Disney announced some exciting panels that will be held at the event along with celebrities that will be making special appearances. Some highlights of this year’s Expo include a Golden Girls Panel and John Stamos’ hosting a conversation with Legends of Walt Disney Imagineering.

Guests of this year’s Expo will have the chance to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hercules with members of the cast and creative team; hear from Disney Legends, including 2017 inductee Mark Hamill, during a panel hosted by Leonard Maltin; and enjoy the music of Walt Disney’s classic live-action musicals in a remarkable stage production featuring Lesley Ann Warren and hosted by Whoopi Goldberg. John Stamos will host a chat with Legends of Walt Disney Imagineering, Plus, the Walt Disney Archives will host three days of presentations on its own stage. And, for the first time, guests will be able to enjoy a daily “Ultimate Fan Street Party” right on the show floor.

For the first time at D23 Expo, take in a one-of-a-kind street party, right on the D23 Expo show floor! Making its way down Mickey Avenue twice daily, the street party will feature a live band, beloved Disney characters, and celebrity grand marshals. Newly inducted Disney Legends Stan Lee and Mark Hamill will grand marshal the first cavalcade on Friday, July 14, followed by the Descendants 2 cast later that day.

Disney Is Now the Full Owner of Disneyland Paris

For the first time in it’s 25 year existence, The Walt Disney Company has full ownership of Disneyland Paris after a recent stock buyout of current shareholders. France has laws in place that required Disney to own at least 95% of the stock in order to be considered the full owners of the property. Disney actually ended up with 97.08% ownership. The shareholders that did not sell directly to Disney will see their share redeemed at 2 Euros a piece.

Disneyland Paris’ bottom line has taken some hit recently. Disney has stated that they are committed to the long-term success of this park and this deal is one way of putting their “money where their mouth is.” Within the past few years, Disney offered 1.5 billion Euros to support a successful recapitalization. Also, in 2014, Disney pledged 1 billion Euros over a 10-year time span.

The Paris terrorist attacks in November 2015 lead to a downturn in the French tourism industry and helped contribute towards a net loss of 858 million Euros for the park in 2016. There also has been a lot of volatility in the European economy and this has effected business all across Europe. In 2015, the park had a net loss of 102 million Euros.

Cars 3: Driven to Win is a game that empowers players to master their driving skills for the ultimate world-class competitive racing experience. With six thrilling modes for gamers to train and advance their abilities, the gameplay is designed to encourage players to learn and build experience, earning rewards for each of their improvements along the way. Race Mode puts players onto the tracks to race against Lightning McQueen and the gang and rev up for the ultimate challenge, while Battle Race allows players to collect and use power-ups, putting their cars to the test in races against family and friends to become the Ultimate Champion. To turn up the competition, Takedown Mode allows gamers to collect and use a variety of power-ups to eliminate as many crash karts as possible, and when time runs out, the player with the most points wins. In Best Lap Challenge, players can race against their own best time, as they attempt to set a new track record. For maximum fun and creativity, players can visit the Playground where they can go racing, perform stunts and engage in challenges, or simply drive around for fun at their own pace, and with Stunt Showcase they can race off of ramps to catch air and perform as many tricks as possible before time runs out, earning points for successful tricks and safe landings. Cars 3: Driven to Win provides an exhilarating, action-packed experience where training and skill give players an edge in a racing experience that anyone can win.

Players will be able to experience Cars 3: Driven to Win with their friends or on their own to perfect the various racing styles and modes available to them. For maximum fun, the game will include local split-screen cooperative play, allowing players to compete or team up and play at home together, making it easy for friends and family members to join the race – and the fun – at any time.
