Disneyland Set to Reopen Your Favorite Attractions This Summer

What do Fantasmic!, Rivers of America and The Disneyland Railroad all have in common? Other than being classic Disneyland experiences, they are all also set to reopen this summer at Disneyland Park!

Fantasmic! – Set to reopen Jul 17

For 25 years, “Fantasmic!” has taken Disneyland park guests on a journey into Mickey Mouse’s imagination, and its return on July 17 – in celebration of the park’s 62nd anniversary – will bring new magic to this beloved nighttime spectacular! The treasured Disneyland park experience guests have loved for years, complete with its original fanfare and theme song, will be taken to brilliant new heights. New mist screens will combine with innovative, state-of-the-art projection technology for brighter and more vibrant visuals than ever before, and the show will feature new scenes inspired by Disney animated classics such as “Aladdin” and “The Lion King.”

Rivers of America – Set to reopen June 16 through July 29

The classic Rivers of America attractions will reopen, starting with Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island this Friday, June 16, followed by Mark Twain Riverboat, Sailing Ship Columbia and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes on July 29. For decades, guests have traveled the landscapes inspired by four of America’s majestic rivers: the Mississippi, the Columbia, the Missouri and the Rio Grande; each carefully recreated, complete with indigenous rock formations, natural forests and wildlife. The return of these watercraft will bring even more breathtaking views for guests to discover, including an enhanced adventure featuring the new Columbia Gorge section, highlighted by five picturesque waterfalls. Last year, we shared the artist’s rendering above, courtesy of Walt Disney Imagineering, showing the gorgeous new north bank of the Rivers of America, which will feature a beautiful new waterfront.

Disneyland Railroad – Set to reopen July 29

The new waterfront will also include several elevated trestles over which the Disneyland Railroad will travel when it reopens along with the Rivers of America attractions on July 29. An icon for more than 60 years, the Disneyland Railroad holds a special place in the hearts of our guests, and we are excited to take them on the grand circle tour of Walt Disney’s original Magic Kingdom once again. This classic experience will also feature new and enhanced adventures! For the very first time, the Disneyland Railroad will make a left-hand turn to continue around Disneyland park, and I’m excited to tell you that Walt Disney’s legendary dioramas of the Grand Canyon and Primeval World have been carefully restored to their original splendor, with a bit of new magic added to both!

Next Month is the 2017 D23 Expo, and Disney fans will be getting a first look at Disney collectibles and merchandise along with exclusive news about upcoming games and interactive experiences. Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media (DCPI), has promised an action-packed schedule throughout the weekend, with presentations and unveilings happening on the Walt Disney Archives Stage and the D23 Expo Arena. Disney Publishing Worldwide will also unveil some “behind the pages” information on upcoming titles throughout the weekend!

● On Friday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m. in the D23 Expo Arena, Gravity Falls series creator Alex Hirsch and Star vs. The Forces ofEvil series creator Daron Nefcy will discuss what it’s like to bring hit Disney XD series from the screen to page with bestselling titles Gravity Falls: Journal 3 and Star vs. The Forces of Evil: Star and Marco’s Guide to Mastering Every Dimension.

● Mindy Johnson, author of Ink & Paint: The Women of Walt Disney’s Animation, will interview a panel of animators past and present and share how women make remarkable contributions to the legacy of Walt Disney’s animation studio. The presentation will take place on the Walt Disney Archives Stage on Friday, July 14, at 4:30 p.m.

● Disney Legends Richard Sherman and Floyd Norman will invite fans to the D23 Expo Arena on Saturday, July 15, at 6 p.m. for a one-of-a-kind discussion about their upcoming book A Kiss Goodnight.

● Marcy Smothers, author of the upcoming title Eat Like Walt: The Wonderful World of Disney Food, will show guests in the Walt Disney Archives Stage on Sunday, July 16, at 10 a.m. how Walt Disney infused fun and creativity into his food—from his family’s kitchen table to the Happiest Place on Earth.

● On Sunday, July 16, at 4:15 p.m. on Stage 28, Kingdom Keepers author Ridley Pearson, Disney Legend Marty Sklar, and fellow Imagineers will explore the history of Disney Parks through Maps of Disney Parks: Charting 60 Years from California to Shanghai.

● Celebrating the 90th anniversary of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Dave Bossert and David Gerstein, authors of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit: The Search for the Lost Disney Cartoons, will showcase the definitive history of the iconic character on Sunday, July 16, at 6 p.m. on Stage 28.

Throughout the weekend, select authors and artists will be available for signings and meet and greets at Talent Central and the Disney Dream Store.

DCPI Pavilion and Oh My Disney Stage

In the DCPI pavilion on the show floor, fans can “Live the Magic” and experience how Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel can enrich their daily lives. Divided into four distinct lifestyle environments, guests will be able to preview and experience all-new cross-category offerings from Disney’s licensees, authors and artists, including playing the latest games from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, immersing themselves in the pavilion’s park environment of outdoor play and creativity, or watching cooking demos in the kitchen environment featuring influencers from Disney Family and Disney Publishing Worldwide.

At the heart of the DCPI pavilion is the Oh My Disney Stage, which will bring the fun, fresh voice of Oh My Disney to life through daily surprise-and-delight moments, including celebrity guests, panels, performances, game shows, toy unboxings, first looks, and a live taping of The Oh My Disney Show hosted by Maker creator Alexys Gabrielle. The stage’s events, programs, and shows will be shared live across the Disney Digital Network’s editorial channels like Oh My Disney, Disney Style, Polaris, and Disney Family and social accounts for every Disney character, franchise, and film. The full Oh My Disney Stage schedule and live streams will be revealed in July.

Tickets for D23 Expo 2017 are available for $81 for one-day adult admission and $59 for children 3–9. Movie Review Pixar’s ‘Cars 3’

Lightning McQueen is back on the big screen, but he’s not a rookie anymore. Teased by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Piston-Cup champion finds himself suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves.

While Lightning is still the same self-assured, determined and fun-loving race car audiences fell in love with, his confidence is being tested by the new cars on the track led by up and comer Jackson Storm. Then he meets Cruz Ramirez. Tasked with getting Lightning McQueen back on track after a devastating setback, Cruz isn’t shy. Her training style is high-tech, enthusiastic and she’s not afraid to apply a little tough love. But there’s more to Cruz than meets the eye. She has her own battles to overcome which gives this movie some emotional light on how to overcome your past and do what’s best for your future. Lightning begins to wonder whether he truly belongs out on the racetrack or if he’s going to stop anyone from letting him out there.

Cars 3 Stars Owen Wilson as the voice of Lightning McQueen. Cristela Alonzo who voices tech-savvy trainer Cruz Ramirez, and tries to help #95 return to greatness, and Armie Hammer is the next-gen racer Jackson Storm, whose high-tech speed leaves Lightning McQueen behind. Kerry Washington was cast to voice statistical analyst Natalie Certain, Nathan Fillion provides the voice of brilliant Billionaire Sterling, Lea DeLaria makes her Pixar debut as the formidable school bus Miss Fritter, and Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton helps bring voice command assistant Hamilton to life. Cars 3 is directed by Brian Fee, after working as a storyboard artist for Cars, Ratatouille, and WALL-E, Fee takes full advantage of the Pixar approach to storytelling and makes his directorial debut.

Just because it’s aimed at children doesn’t mean it’s any less capable of sincere emotions. Not to be mistaken with tonal inconsistency, something this film has nothing to worry about. It earns the tone it’s going for. Cars 3 is filled with sincerity. Sure, the message is simple but Cars 3 takes an honest route with it. The driving feels more intense, with several sequences legitimately on par with full throttle action scenes that demand your attention.

Cars 3 teaches us it’s never too late to be great at something you love. It also teaches us to be persistent and follow our dreams. And just because you try your best doesn’t mean you will always come out on top and win. There will always be times when you lose, just like there will always be opportunities to shine.

Disney’s Grand Floridian to Host Fourth of July Cookout

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is celebrating America’s birthday with a cookout at the resort’s Summerhouse from 7-8:30 p.m. The fun doesn’t stop there as guests will then move to the Grand Floridian Marina to enjoy desserts while watching the Magic Kingdom‘s 4th of July fireworks. If the weather turns to rain then the event will be moved inside to the Grand Floridian Convention Center.

Lightning McQueen and friends will be speeding into theaters this Friday June 16th in the action-packed “Cars 3 .” To celebrate, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be handing out a free “Cars 3” buttons to guests visiting the park this Friday. Heads up Lightning McQueen fans. It looks like a documentary is being released online tomorrow called “95: The Untold Story of Lightning McQueen”. Directed by Morgan Spurlock, best known for his documentary film “Super Size Me”, this film will be part of ESPN’s 30 for 30 series.

Fate of ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Unknown After Allegations of Misconduct and Lawsuit

ABC’s Bachelor in Paradise was scheduled to return to the lineup on August 8 of this year. However, after allegations of misconduct were reported by a producer and now one of the contestants in question confirmed that something inappropriate did happen, it’s unsure that the show will ever make it back on air.

Production of the popular show began on June 4. Previous contestants from the popular Bachelor and Bachelorette franchise arrived in Mexico to take part in the reality show that features “former fan favorites and controversial characters looking for a chance at love.” It is rumored that on the first night of filming two of the contestants were over-served and found themselves in a compromising position in the always popular hot tub. One of the producers there for that shot was concerned that since both contestants were under the influence, they were unable to give consent to anything that was about to happen. The producer went on to file a lawsuit the next day and filming was then immediately suspended.

Warner Brothers, who produces the show, released this statement: “We have become aware of allegations of misconduct on the set of Bachelor in Paradise in Mexico. We have suspended production and we are conducting a thorough investigation of these allegations. Once the investigation is complete, we will take appropriate responsive action.

Corrine Olympios, one of the alleged contestants involved in the incident released the following statement today: “I am a victim and have spent the last week trying to make sense of what happened on June 4. Although I have little memory of that night, something bad obviously took place, which I understand is why production on the show has now been suspended and a producer on the show has filed a complaint against the production. As a woman, this is my worst nightmare and it has now become my reality. It appears that all of the other contestants have left Paradise as well. Instagram user, aprilannstyles, posted the following photo which shows the entire cast at the Puerto Vallarta Airport in Mexico on June 11.

The Milano, the Disneyland Drink of the Summer, has Landed!

Summer of Heroes has officially kicked off at Disney’s California Adventure Park which includes an action-packed range of fun-filled superhero must do’s from the new Guardians of the Galaxy -Mission: BREAKOUT! to Marvel-themed meet and greets, dance parties and most importantly food!

Taking its name from Star-Lord’s ship (which was named after Peter Quill’s childhood crush Alyssa Milano) the Milano frozen beverage now being served up at California Adventure is destined to be the drink of the Summer.

This technicolor concoction is comprised of frozen orange Fanta, blue cream and whipped cream. Those who have already tasted the Milano describe it a s being reminiscent of the orange creamsicles you had a as a child.

So where can you find this tasty treat? It’s being served up until September 10th at Studio Catering Co. So hop on over and give this delicious treat a try before it becomes the stuff of legend.

New DuckTales TV Movie and Animated Series Coming to Disney XD

The brand new “DuckTales” animated series will make its debut in a one-hour television movie on Saturday, August 12 on Disney XD at midnight EDT. Don’t worry if you miss it because Disney XD will be continuously presenting it for a full 24 hours that day. On Saturday September 23rd , two brand new episodes will be aired at 7:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. EDT. They will also be available on the Disney XD app and Disney XD VOD on these same dates.

For the raft of “DuckTales” fans around the world, the August 12 movie is commonsensically titled “Woo-oo!.” The September series premiere coincides with the 30^th anniversary of the original Emmy Award-winning series. Beginning this year, “DuckTales” and its “Woo-oo!” movie will reach far and wide in 34 languages in 162 countries on Disney XD channels and Disney Channels worldwide.

A paddling of ducks helped announce the television movie premiere date today on the official “DuckTales” Facebook page, which also debuted the series opening title and new rendition of the iconic theme song. Written by Mark C. Mueller, the song is performed by singer/songwriter Felicia Barton (“Dancing with the Stars”) and produced by Emmy Award-winning Michael ‘Smidi’ Smith (Coldplay, Sia, Britney Spears) and composer Dominic Lewis (“Rough Night,” “Fist Fight”). It will be released by Walt Disney Records on Friday, June 23.

The “DuckTales: All Ducked Out!” avatar creator is set to launch in July on the Disney XD app and on Disney LOL, with games rolling out thereafter; the “original angry bird” – Donald Duck – will be featured in the popular digital game Angry Birds beginning Thursday, August 3; and new “DuckTales” print and e-book titles including comics from master licensee IDW will be available as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive in July, followed by a mass roll-out. Then, starting in January 2018, Disney Press will release a slate of titles including a doodle book, joke book and guide book written by the characters in the television series.

Featuring a distinct animation style inspired by the classic Carl Barks’ comic designs, “DuckTales” chronicles the high-flying adventures of Duckburg’s most famous trillionaire Scrooge McDuck, his mischief-making triplet grandnephews – Huey, Dewey and Louie, temperamental nephew Donald Duck and the trusted McDuck Manor team: big-hearted, fearless chauffer/pilot Launchpad McQuack; no-nonsense housekeeper Mrs. Beakley; and Mrs. Beakley’s granddaughter, Webby Vanderquack, resident adventurer and the triplet’s newfound fierce friend.

The story unfolds as Donald Duck reluctantly takes Huey, Dewey and Louie to the home of their reclusive great-uncle Scrooge McDuck. Enthralled by their once-legendary great-uncle and the wonder of McDuck Manor, the triplets and Webby learn of long-kept family secrets and unleash totems from Scrooge’s epic past, sending the family on an adventure of a lifetime to the Lost City of Atlantis.

The voice cast is David Tennant (“Doctor Who”) as Scrooge McDuck, Danny Pudi (“Community”) as Huey, Ben Schwartz (“Parks and Recreation”) as Dewey, Bobby Moynihan (“Saturday Night Live”) as Louie, Kate Micucci (“Garfunkel and Oates”) as Webby Vanderquack, Beck Bennett (“Saturday Night Live”) as Launchpad McQuack, Toks Olagundoye (“Castle”) as Mrs. Beakley and Tony Anselmo (“Mickey Mouse”) as Donald Duck.

Recurring guest voices include Lin-Manuel Miranda (Broadway’s “Hamilton,” Disney’s “Moana” and “Mary Poppins Returns”) as Duckburg’s favorite hero Gizmoduck (his alias is Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera), Allison Janney (“The West Wing”) as Scrooge’s old flame Goldie O’Gilt, Margo Martindale (“The Americans”) as the ruthless villain Ma Beagle, Paul F. Tompkins (“Bajillion Dollar Propertie$”) as lucky duck Gladstone Gander, Kimiko Glenn (“Orange Is the New Black”) as well-traveled teen Lena, Jim Rash (“Community”) as mad scientist Gyro Gearloose, Josh Brener (“Silicon Valley”) as tech billionaire Mark Beaks, Keith Ferguson (“Gravity Falls”) as Scrooge’s archenemy Flintheart Glomgold, Eric Bauza (Marvel’s “Ultimate Spider-Man”) as Beagle Boys and Corey Burton (“Star Wars Rebels”) as scientist Ludwig Von Drake.

“DuckTales” is executive produced by Annie Award-nominee Matt Youngberg (“Ben 10: Omniverse”), with Francisco Angones (Disney XD’s Emmy Award-nominated “Wander Over Yonder”) serving as co-producer and story editor, and Sean Jimenez (Disney XD’s Annie Award-winning “Gravity Falls”) as art director. The series is a production of Disney Television Animation and carries a TV-Y7 parental guideline.

Disney and Hanson Robotics Developing Artificially Intelligent Disney Character Robots

Dr. David Hanson, founder and CEO of Hanson Robotics, made a big announcement at the TechXLR8 conference today. Hanson Robotics is partnering with Disney to bring artificially intelligent Disney robots to life. This may sound like something out of a sci-fi movie but in the not-too-distant future these robots could be everywhere, even your home.

Hanson Robotics is developing amazingly expressive and lifelike robots that build relationships with people through conversation. Hanson works to create Genius Machines that “will have emotional intelligence matching – and one day surpassing – human emotional intelligence”. All of this achieved through the use Artificial Intelligence.

It has yet to be announced which Disney character will be the first to make it’s robotic debut but Hanson did use a slide of Elsa at the conference to reveal how people are drawn to characters with human options. It would make sense if Elsa was chosen with Frozen 2 on the horizon. Good news is we won’t have to guess for too long. Currently, the launch date is scheduled for 2018.
