The Halloween festivities have been well underway at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and the Disneyland Resort in California, for a while now. We recently brought you the news of the happy haunts happening at Disney’s Aulani later this month, and now we are giving you a look at the Halloween celebrations throughout the International Disney Parks. I’m a fan of anything sparkly, an even bigger fan of anything rose gold, and of course a super fan of anything Disney! So when you combine all of those things together to create this Rose Gold Mickey MagicBand Keeper, it becomes the ultimate trifecta of I WANT IT NOW!

Ever since the new MagicBand style launched, I’ve loved popping out the Mickey icon and wearing it in a keeper to hang from my purse, lanyard, or belt loop. However, I have gotten a bit bored about having the same exact keeper as everyone else. When Bare Necessities launched these new sparkly accessories, I knew it was a must have. They’ve also released a sparkling black glitter Minnie Mouse keeper, with a fabric bow too!

Even though October is just getting off to a start, today is the official end of Oktoberfest – the iconic annual beer festival held each year in Munich, Germany. Don’t despair though. Disney Springs will continue to serve up seasonal cold brews and hot eats throughout the Fall!

Darcy Clark of Disney Parks Blog recently caught up with a few of her favorite craft beer connoisseurs, including Disney Springs Food and Beverage Proprietor, Jamie Entwistle. According to Jamie, “Disney Springs is a melting pot of beer options. Here, you can enjoy craft beer from a wide mix of local and national breweries in addition to tried and true favorites – each guest is sure to find their favorite style and may even expand their palate by trying something unique as they walk the promenade and enjoy our great entertainment options.”

Disney Springs Senior Duty Manager, Mike England, echoed the sentiment. Though he’s here five days a week for work, he’s often here during his weekends, too, trying out the newest beers on tap. Mike is one of the most knowledgeable when it comes to ales, lagers and everything in between, so Darcy asked him for his “Top Five” list at Disney Springs; not one to shy away from a challenge, he came back with ten.

“Here are my current favorites,” Mike shared, “they’re all Florida Craft beers, and they’re listed in no particular order, except for Cigar City Jai Alai – it always tops my list!”:

3. Orange Blossom Pilsner (Dockside Margaritas)

I’ll admit, I’ve only sampled about half of the brews on this list, but I’m excited to try the rest. Of course, that will give me the perfect excuse to also indulge in some of the Oktoberfest-eque, limited time menu items that are currently available at Disney Springs, namely the Bratwurst and Spaetzel from B.B. Wolf’s and the Oktoberfest Poutine from The Daily Poutine. (On the latter? Crumbled bratwurst, cheese curds, and gravy made with stout beer – don’t mind if I do!)

The newest “You Are Here” EPCOT mug has just appeared on shelves and they are adorable. This is the latest in the the park series to be released. Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom have all debuted their “You Are Here” mugs earlier this week.

This one features the different pavilions surrounding World Showcase with the overall colors in tones of blues, golds and grays.

Another EPCOT tumbler was introduced this week displaying a picture of Mickey using different images of attractions that opened with the park 35 years ago. At the center of Mickey is the EPCOT Center logo. This logo was used from the park opening in 1982, as part of EPCOT’s “Future Expo” theme, until the early 2000’s.

The new Starbucks mugs also include the EPCOT 35 Commemorative Mug that was introduced on October 1st to celebrate the park’s anniversary. Along with the Mickey tumbler, it also predominately displays the original EPCOT Center logo.

Magic Kingdom’s Plaza Restaurant No Longer Serving Breakfast

Those looking for a good place to have breakfast at the Magic Kingdom will sadly need to strike the Plaza Restaurant off their list. Updates to the menu of this Main Street eatery indicate that they will no longer be serving breakfast options. Instead, the Plaza Restaurant will open daily from 11:00 am and will be serving up deli-style lunch and dinner options including sandwiches, burgers, fresh salads and desserts.

So what does this mean for fans of the sinfully decadent Doughnut Sundae? Take a deep breath, you’ll still be able to find them at the neighboring Plaza Ice Cream Parlor.

Bob Iger Announces He Will Step Down From Role as Walt Disney Company CEO in Mid 2019

The Disney rumor mill has been abuzz for a while now that there would soon be a changing of the guard over at Walt Disney Company HQ and today Bob Iger, current CEO officially announced that he will step down from his role when his contract expires in mid-2019.

According to reports, Iger announced “This time I mean it” at a media event held by Vanity Fair on October 3rd in Los Angeles. This comes hot on the heels of news earlier this year that Iger’s contract had been extended to 2019 with Orin C. Smith, lead independent director on Disney’s board having this to say: “Mr. Iger has led The Walt Disney Company to unprecedented success during his 11 years as CEO, driving Disney to new creative heights, expanding the Company’s global reach, fostering technological innovation, and delivering year-after-year of record financial results. During his tenure, Mr. Iger has created enormous value for shareholders, with total shareholder return of 448%, compared to 144% for the S&P 500, and a dramatic increase in the Company’s market capitalization to $177 billion from $46 billion.”

Iger has served served chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company since 2005 when a shareholder revolt ousted then sitting CEO Michael Eisner.

With Iger’s departure now imminent, much speculation has been made as to who will take over the helm with Ben Sherwood (who runs Disney’s media networks) as well as ESPN president John Skipper and Bob Chapek (who runs the company’s theme parks and resort operations) being touted as the frontrunners for the role.

As part of Iger’s contract, he has agreed to stay on as a consultant for three years after stepping down from his role.

Kate Winslet and James Cameron to Reunite for Avatar Sequels

Tinseltown is abuzz today with the news that Kate Winslet has just signed on for a starring role in next instalment of James Cameron’s Avatar franchise. This marks the second time that Winslet and Cameron have worked together, the first being the epic blockbuster Titanic.

According to a piece in Deadline, Cameron had this to say about the collaboration, “Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career. I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”

There’s no word yet on who Ronal is in Cameron’s Avatar world but we’ll let you know as soon as we find out.

Production on the sequel to Avatar has already begun with the film slated to be released on December 18, 2020. The next film in the series will be released on December 17, 2021 followed by the 4th instalment on December 20, 2024 and 5th sequel on December 19, 2025.

Universal Orlando Looking To Hire 3,000 Additional Employees

Good news for those looking to work at one of Orlando’s major theme park destinations, according to reports, Universal Orlando is looking to bring on at least an additional 3,000 employees. The roles will include a number of full-time, part-time and seasonal positions with recruitment opening up on October 5th.

The roles encompass a wide range of departments including attractions, operations, merchandise and food services. The positions will bring new team members to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay and City Walk.

Guests interested in joining the Universal team should visit the Universal Orlando Jobs website for a complete description of opportunities as well as more information on job fairs taking place in the Orlando Area.

Candidates are encouraged to first apply online and will then be contacted by human resources for an interview.
