Pirates of the Caribbean Adds On-Ride Photo and Returns Talking Skull

Walt Disney World’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride has added a new on-ride photo to the ride experience in addition to returning the Talking Skull to its rightful place.

Pirates of the Caribbean Adds On-Ride Photo and Returns Talking Skull

The addition of the on-ride photo is sure to be a hit with anyone who enjoys the photopass/memory maker option for Walt Disney World Photos.  Be aware that the photo will include your entire boat.  Therefore, if you are trying to get a photo of the Talking Skull, he is likely to capture your photo before you capture his!  Your picture will be taken just before the plunge into the Pirate waters below.  Do not look for a photo viewing area at the end of the ride as the on-ride photo will be automatically uploaded to your My Disney Experience account.

Pirates of the Caribbean Adds On-Ride Photo and Returns Talking Skull

The Talking Skull will be visible at the bend just beyond the Pirate Mermaid Skeleton.  Be sure to look up to the left side of the boat as you approach the drop.  You will see the bright flash of the camera and then the Talking Skull will speak to you just prior the plunge into the waters below.  After disappearing 11 years ago, we were thrilled to discover that this iconic feature has returned.

Here is our short video of the Talking Skull:

Will you be checking out the new on-ride photo and the return of the Talking Skull during your next visit to the Magic Kingdom?  Please leave your comments in the box below.

Walt Disney World Attractions Rumor Roundup

P1100142

epcot

The internet is all abuzz recently about what new experiences might be coming to the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks. With the D23 Expo in Disneyland right around the corner, where most of these rumors will (or will not) be confirmed by Disney, we deiced to take a look closer at what we might be able to experience at Disney in the future!

It seems that the biggest changes will be coming to Epcot. Back at the Destination D event this past November, Chairman of Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts, Bob Chapek, announced that Epcot will be receiving a major overhaul to update and improve many features, while still remaining true to Walt’s original vision. No concrete details were announced and no specific time frame was given at that time.

With that being said, let’s start in Epcot to see what new rides might announced at next month’s event:

Epcot

Ratatouille Ride

As we reported a few days ago, permits have been filed for the open space between the France & Morocco Pavilion in Epcot. With this discovery, we can all but guarantee an announcement will be made at D23 for this new ride in the France Pavilion. There is a Ratatouille ride already in Disneyland Paris but thoughts are that this one will be a bit different.

Beauty and the Beast Ride

This was a very popular Epcot rumor for sometime. However, with the discovery of the recent permits which seem to lean more to the Ratatouille Ride, it’s unlikely we will see this one as the both would have to fit into France Pavilion. But, you never know!

Spaceship Earth

This iconic Epcot attraction has be due for an overhaul for sometime. Siemens was the corporate sponsor of the ride and has officially cut ties with Disney. Read more about it here.

Guardians of the Galaxy logo

Guardians of the Galaxy Land

An announcement on the possibility on of construction starting on this new “Land” is all but guaranteed to me made at this year’s D23 Expo. Rumors have already started to circulate that Universe of Energy and Wonders of Life Pavilion will be demolished to make room for this new small “Land.” Guests of Guardians of the Galaxy Land will be able to adventure into the galaxy with their favorite Guardians characters including Groot and Star-Lord. Several new attractions would be expected here as well.

Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios fans were concerned their favorite attraction would meet the same fate as the ride at California Adventure in Disneyland. With this news, it sounds like Tower of Terror is safe and will not be transformed into another Mission: BREAKOUT! ride.

Others are thinking that these areas will actually be home to a new Tron coaster. However, I personally think this new coaster will end up in the Magic Kingdom. (We’ll dive into this subject in just a bit.)

With the Three Caballeros

Gran Fiesta Tour

Coco is the star of the next Disney-Pixar movie (entitled Coco) to be released this fall. Coco may also be the star of the Gran Fiesta Tour attraction replacing the Three Caballeros. This attraction would be easy to overhaul since it is screen-based. It also seems like Disney is trying to bring more contemporary and relevant experiences to Epcot and what better way to than replacing a maybe dated attraction with that of a new film.

New Pavilions in the World Showcase

Rumors of new World Showcase Pavilions seem to be talked about weekly. Some have even been announced but never came to fruition. Disney seems to be in constant contact with countries about new pavilions coming to EPCOT. Some of the rumored pavilions are: Puerto Rico, Spain, and Brazil. On this list, Spain seems the most likely with the 2020 release of Disney’s animated movie, Gigantic, which takes place in Spain.

Walt Disney World Attractions Rumor Roundup

Mission: SPACE

This ride is currently closed for refurbishment (read our current refurbs here)so we definitely know something is going on. Word is we can expect to see to see a new on-ride film and some cosmetic updates when it opens in a few weeks.

The Seas with Nemo and Friends

This attraction might be updated to the Marine Life Institute from the Finding Dory movie. The Marine Life Institue in the movie was actually inspired by the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The Searider is a Nemo/Dory-themed ride that opened at Tokyo DisneySea and would fit nicely into this area.

The Land

We should hear about an update to the boat ride for Living with the Land and a new film to replace the current Circle of Life: An Environmental Fable. With updates to Soarin’ completed last year, we shouldn’t expect to see any changes to it.

Journey Into Imagination

There’s been lots of conversation concerning Figment recently. Disney recently even conducted a survey to gauge his popularity. It seems Figment is still popular enough to not completely go away but it does look like he will be sharing the spotlight. Guests can expect to see the 5 emotions from Inside Out along with Figment in a new attraction to be announced for Epcot. Figment actually appears as an Easter Egg in Inside Out!

jp

New attractions for the China, Germany, Japan, and UK Pavilions

Over in the China Pavilion, we may see a Mulan-themed update to the history of China film. Mushu from the popular Disney movie may be the narrator for this film.

There is currently empty space in the Germany and Japan Pavilions. Disney may take this space and create some new movie-based attractions. In Germany expect to see something Tangled related and something Big Hero 6 related for Japan.

With the upcoming release of the live-action sequel to Mary Poppins, expect to see a Mary Poppins-themed attraction. This attraction also could show up in Hollywood Studios with the rumors that the Great Movie Ride may be closing for good.

New Nighttime Show to Replace Illuminations

All good things must come to an end at sometime. Although Illuminations is the longest running fireworks show at any Disney Park worldwide, expect it to be replaced by a new show featuring popular Disney characters inspired by various cultures around the world.

As mentioned, lot and lots going on at Epcot. Let’s take a look at what may be in store at the other Walt Disney World Parks:

Magic Kingdom

Tron Coaster

We reported on rumors about this one a few months ago. Rumors were pointing to The Tomorrowland Speedway may being replaced with this new coaster. There is already a Tron Lightcycle Power Run coaster at Shanghai Disneyland and it is one of the most popular and talked about rides there.

Another reason to believe the Tron coaster might show up in Magic Kingdom is that Chevrolet is the current sponsor of The Tomorrowland Speedway and also the sponsor of the coaster in Shanghai.

Animal Kingdom

Rafiki's Planet Watch

Rafiki’s Planet Watch and Conversation Station

Not many details here but expect to see a Zootopia overhaul coming to this Animal Kingdom attraction.

Hollywood Studios

As we all know, this park is already undergoing several renovations to make way for Toy Story and Star Wars Lands. We should expect to hear the official opening date of Toy Story Land and even some more details on the much-anticipated Star Wars Land at this year’s D23 Expo.

One thing is for sure, there is tons to look forward to at Walt Disney World. Especially at Epcot. Make sure to keep it right here for our complete and up-to-the minute coverage of everything announced by Disney at this year’s Expo!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Summer Nights Media Event Review

Disney's Hollywood Studios Summer Nights Media Event Review

The additions of the Music of Pixar Live and Disney Movie Magic has made Disney’s Hollywood Studios the place to be during seasonal Summer Nights.  We were fortunate enough to experience both of these new shows during Disney’s Summer Nights Media Event.  Here is our review of the food, the shows, and the amazing people who develop the Magic.

The Summer NIghts Media Check-in was at a designated Guest Services window.  We were given an orange wristband and directed to the Sunset Showcase Building just beyond The Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster.  This venue offered excellent photos of The Hollywood Tower Hotel.

As we entered the building we noticed the DJ on the stage and the food stations throughout.   The Shrimp with Grits and the Korean Barbecue Short Ribs on Caramelized Onion Bread Pudding were magnificent.  Also on offer were hor d’ oeuvres such as smoked salmon wrapped cream cheese and mini onion tarts served  on a tiny spatula.  Disney Chefs certainly have a way with making the most delicious foods.

The interior theming was all Pixar with a strong Toy Story focus to details.

After the food, and a bit of time to mingle, we were escorted by Disney Cast Members over to the Theater of the Stars for the Music of Pixar Live! show.

We were greeted by Green Army Men with an amazing sense of humor.  The pre-show had us laughing so be prepared to have fun.

See our short video of the end portion of the pre-show here:

The Music of Pixar Live! features video and songs from many of our favorite Pixar Movies.  The orchestra performs a beautifully moving rendition of the music to coincide with the video playing behind them on the large screen.  You are also sure to see some of your most beloved Pixar characters as well.  The closing includes a sing-a-long of ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’.  This show is scheduled to run through August 27, 2017 and is a must-see performance.

After viewing the Music of Pixar Live! we were escorted back to the Sunset Showcase building where Pixar-themed desserts were being served.  The desserts included Up Cake Pops, Incredibles Cupcakes, Mike Wazowski Key Lime Tarts, and Bugs Life Oreo Panna Cotta.  Also being served was a Specialty Cocktail called “Sheriff’s Roundup Punch.”  This concoction included Coconut Rum, Melon Liqueur, Pineapple Juice and Orange Juice.  Our favorite dessert had to be the Up Cake Pops and the Sheriff’s Roundup Punch was very good.   We are hopeful that some of these items will make an appearance around the parks or potentially have a home in Toy Story Land when it opens.

After a bit of dessert, we were able to speak with Brian and Cara, some of the Disney PR people who put the event together.  Cara let us know that Brian was the person to speak with as he organized much of this event.  They were both very nice and it was obvious they both love their jobs and they are good at what they do.

We also had the opportunity to interview Tom Vazzana, Show Director of the Music of Pixar Live! show.   He told us that there are 3 full sets of orchestras to perform in the shows as they have 3 shows nightly, 7 days per week.  We asked Tom about where the inspiration came from for the show.  He told us that it started out as a need to create something that was not being done anywhere else.  They started out with a concert series idea, added the idea of incorporating Pixar, engaging the films and adding characters for the kids.  Since the Theater of the Stars is also home to Beauty and The Beast Live On Stage, there is a second floor with specific markings for placement of  the necessary equipment for each show.  Tom is truly a fun guy with an amazing sense of humor and we really enjoyed meeting him.

The evening also included character meets with Bullseye, Jessie, Buzz and Woody.  Bullseye is a rare character meet now that the Woody’s Roundup is no longer taking place in Frontierland.  However, we are hopeful that he, along with many of the other Toy Story Characters will be available for meet-and-greets when Toy Story Land opens in the future.

Check out our short video of Bullseye and Jessie bantering with one another here:

We were then escorted to a designated location for viewing of Disney Movie Magic.  This projection show brings over 100 movies to life through projection-mapping technology.  Your Summer Nights will be well-spent with a viewing of this gorgeous show.

Disney's Hollywood Studios Summer Nights Media Event Review

To close out the evening, we were granted an interview with Michael Roddy, Show Director for Disney Parks entertainment.  We asked him how long it took to put this show together as there was a big buzz when the announcement came through about a brand new show.  He told us that they kept it very low-key and in fact was in the works for quite some time prior to opening night.   When we told him our favorite part was the ending with the Castle he told us that the Castle is the gateway to all Disney live action films and the films featured in Disney Movie Magic reach across all generations.  This amazing show has no end date and will be shown nightly for the foreseeable future.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Summer Nights Media Event was a wonderful way to spend a summer night here in Central Florida.  The food, the people and the shows made for a truly fabulous evening.  The Studios has always represented films and shows.  Both the Music of Pixar Live! and Disney Movie Magic are certainly worth seeing.  If you get the chance, do not miss these shows.

Are you planning to see the Music of Pixar Live! and Disney Movie Magic on your next Summer Nights visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios?  Please leave your comments in the box below.

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments Now Featuring Hand-dipped Corn Dogs

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments Now Featuring Hand-dipped Corn Dogs

The Magic Kingdom’s Sleepy Hollow Refreshments stand is now featuring Hand-dipped Corn Dogs. This wildly popular food item has been available for many years at the Disneyland Resort. However, this marks the first time Hand-dipped Corn Dogs have been added to a Walt Disney World Parks menu.

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments Now Featuring Hand-dipped Corn Dogs

The Hand-dipped Corn Dog is available with house-made chips for $8.49. We spoke with a Cast Member, who is Earning her Ears, and asked if it is possible to purchase the Hand-dipped Corn Dog all on its own without the chips.  She confirmed that this is possible for a cost of $5.99.

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments Now Featuring Hand-dipped Corn Dogs

While Sleepy Hollow Refreshments marks the first location in a Disney Park to feature Hand-dipped Corn Dogs, they have been available through another venue at the Walt Disney World Resort for some time now.  The Fantasy Fare Food Truck has been serving up Hand-dipped Corn Dogs for the past four years.  You can typically find this food truck at Disney Springs.

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments Now Featuring Hand-dipped Corn Dogs

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments can be found in Liberty Square just over the bridge from the Castle hub.  While we love the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich with Nutella from this location, we will be heading back for a Hand-dipped Corn Dog on our next visit to the Magic Kingdom.

What do you think of the Hand-dipped Corn Dog making its appearance at the Magic Kingdom? Please leave your comments in the box below.

Magical Unicorn Macarons Have Landed in Disneyland

What’s more on trend these days than unicorns? Pretty much, nothing. Disney has hopped aboard this trend and is now selling unicorn macarons in the Downtown Disney District in Disneyland.

These magical strawberry-flavored macarons are available at Kayla’s Cake in Downtown Disney. And just like unicorns, they may be hard to to track down. We are hearing that they will only be available throughout the Summer.

One macaron will cost right around $3 and a box of six runs between $15 and $17. Not too bad of a price to get your hands on a little piece of magic.

This Fruity Pebbles Churro Ice Cream Sandwich is what Dreams Are Made of!

Yes! You read that right! A Fruity Pebbles churro ice cream sandwich is now available at Downtown Disney in Disneyland. Let’s take a closer look at this delicious culinary concoction.

This is the Fruity Pebbles Churro Ice Cream Sandwich from Downtown Disney District’s, The Churro Cart. You can find the cart on both ends of Downtown Disney. First off, it was ridiculously good, like you can’t stop eating it good. Note, it comes disassembled, you get the two warm churro rounds, then the vanilla gelato in a separate cup. You just grab a spoon and place the ice cream between the churros. The churros are hot so the ice cream melts fast! So so good. Do it! #disneyhungry #disneyland #disneylandresort #disneygram #instadisney #instadisneyland #happiestplaceonearth #disneymagic #mickeymouse #california #travel #dca #dlr #DisneySMMC #igdisney #disneyig #disneysmmoms #disneymom #disneyfan #downtowndisneydistrict #churros

A post shared by Jenny Flake (@disneyhungry) on

Churros are arguably the most popular snacks at Disney and this new option won’t disappoint. Add some Fruity Pebbles and ice cream to the fix and you have yourself this new tasty treat. This churro ice cream sandwich consists of two warm Fruit Pebbles churro rounds and vanilla gelato. Another plus about this churro sandwich is you actually get to construct it yourself to make sure your taste buds have the perfect amount of churro to ice cream ratio!

These new additions to the churro lineup can be found at California Churro kiosk in the Downtown Disney District. However, there is a catch. California Churro is known for it’s rotating schedule of churros, so it’s hard to predict if the Fruity Pebble churro ice cream sandwich will be available when you visit. The other churros are just as tasty but if you have your heart set on this one, I may suggest to call first before your visit!

Dad Loses Court Battle for Taking Daughter Out of School to Vacation at Disney World

Dad Loses Court Battle for Taking Daughter Out of School to Vacation at Disney World

British dad Jon Platt, 46, took his daughter out of school to go on a Walt Disney World vacation in 2015. His court case was sent back to magistrates where it first started two years ago in the fraught legal battle costing taxpayers $235,000. England’s Department for Education has footed the bill, which is enough to pay six teachers for a year.

Platt was today convicted of failing to secure his daughter’s regular attendance at school in a hearing at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay $3,361 costs plus a $33 surcharge.

Platt said afterwards: “This is the end for me now, this has gone on for far too long and far too much money has been spent by me and the taxpayer. “I’ve spent close to £30,000 (AU $50,000), a Freedom of Information request found £140,000 (AU $235,000) has been spent by the taxpayer, but if you include the Supreme Court legal costs I think it isn’t far off a quarter of a million.

Platt’s  lawyers argued that his continued prosecution is unfair and unjust in the eyes of the law and appealed for it to be thrown out. Those defending Platt, said documents from the school were “completely vague” and it was not made clear that if he took her on an unauthorised holiday he would receive a fixed penalty notice and be prosecuted if he did not pay it.

Giving the judgement, magistrate Jeannie Walker said: “The circumstances of this case fall squarely into that breach of school rules.” Isle of Wight Council brought the challenge in a high-profile case involving businessman Platt, who took his seven-year-old daughter on a seven-day family trip to Disney World in Florida in April 2015. He says he did not choose the date to save money but had a problem because his other kids go to a different school with different holidays. The council prosecuted Platt after he refused to pay a $100 penalty.

But local magistrates found there was no case to answer and threw the case out, so the local authority appealed to the High Court in London. Two senior judges upheld the magistrates’ decision and declared that Mr Platt was not acting unlawfully because his daughter had a good overall attendance record of over 92 per cent. They said the magistrates were entitled to take into account the “wider picture” of the child’s attendance record outside of the dates she was absent on the holiday.

The decision caused a surge in term-time bookings all over England as councils were left unsure if they should apply strict rules introduced in a truancy crackdown in 2013. It means school heads can only give permission for absences in “exceptional circumstances” and parents who flout the rules face fines or even jail.

Have you taken your children out of school to go on a Disney vacation?

President Trump Will In Fact Have A Speaking Role In The Hall Of Presidents At The Magic Kingdom

Hall of Presidents

Hall of Presidents

After much speculation it looks like the Audio-Animatronic President Trump will in fact have a speaking role in the Hall of Presidents attraction at the Magic Kingdom. According to Jacquee Wahler, vice president of communications for Disney “The same thing that we’ve done with other presidents, is the same plan we have for President Trump.” When asked if Trump would have a speaking role, Wahler said that he would.

President Trump

The attraction has been closed for refurbishment since January 17, 2017. Disney is now saying that there will be a delay in the re-opening and plans for it to be re-opened in “late 2017”.

Magic Kingdom’s Hall of Presidents Experiences Delayed Reopening Date

Magic Kingdom's Hall of Presidents Experiences Delayed Reopening Date

Walt Disney World’s Hall of Presidents is currently experiencing a delayed reopening.

Initially slotted to reopen in late June 2017, it now appears that this building will not be opening to guests until sometime later this summer.  If you were planning a Fourth of July visit to The Hall of Presidents, it is unlikely you will be able to experience this particular attraction.

Magic Kingdom's Hall of Presidents Experiences Delayed Reopening Date

As you wander through Liberty Square, in the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom,  you will notice that the entrance to The Hall of Presidents is roped off.  There is also a sign indicating that this attraction is being prepared to welcome our new President.  Since it is late June 2017, we decided to head over there to inquire about a reopening date .

Magic Kingdom's Hall of Presidents Experiences Delayed Reopening Date

We spoke with two Cast Members and they indicated that The Hall of Presidents will not be ready to reopen until later this summer.  We asked if there was any likelihood that it may open for the Fourth of July and it does not appear that this will be the case.  Disney has not released any new information with regards to a deferred reopening date.  We cannot speculate on the reasons for the delayed reopening.

Stay tuned here to our Chip and Company page for updated information as it becomes available.
