Celebrate Your Ohana with a Personalized Polynesian Resort Sign Ornament

Personalized Polynesian Resort Sign Ornament

I love personalized items, especially Disney themed ones! Of course something that’s unique is even better, and that’s why I fell in love with this Personalized Polynesian Resort Sign Ornament on Etsy! Although it’s an ornament, this is one of those things I would keep displayed all year round!

This fantastic ornament is inspired by the ornate signs of the Polynesian Village Resort in Walt Disney World. They are made out of an eco-friendly thermoplastic, and each piece is hand-painted! They are finished with a glossy glaze to preserve the vibrant colors. While this would make a fabulous ornament for a Christmas tree, I think I would hang this up by the shelf near my front door all year round. How cute would this ornament be paired with a Stitch or Lilo ornament on a tree too? I love that the name looks as if it was “carved” into this replica, instead of just flatly painted on too.

Would you hang this Personalized Polynesian Resort Sign Ornament  on your Christmas tree?

Mexico City Premiere of Disney/Pixar's "Coco" At Palacio de Bellas Artes

Last night, Disney•Pixar’s “Coco” filmmakers and voice talent celebrated the Mexico City Premiere of the film at Palacio de Bellas Artes, the cultural flagship of Mexico. Director Lee Unkrich, co-director Adrian Molina, producer Darla K. Anderson, and Gael García Bernal, who lends his voice to charming trickster Héctor in both the English-language and the Latin American- and Spanish-language versions of “Coco,” joined a host of celebrities at the event, which benefited families injured by the recent earthquake, as well as the Center for Music Training and Development of the Mixe Culture (CECAM AC). The Latin American/Spanish-dub voice cast members were in attendance, marking largest Mexican dubbing cast ever assembled for an animated film. “Coco” opens in Mexico on Oct. 27, 2017.

“As soon as we decided that we wanted to tell a story that takes place in Mexico, we immediately booked our first research trip,” said Unkrich. “Over the course of three years, we visited museums, markets, plazas, workshops, churches, haciendas and cemeteries throughout Mexico. Families welcomed us into their homes and taught us about the foods they enjoy, the music they listen to, their livelihoods and their traditions. Most importantly, we witnessed the importance they place on family. We really wanted to explore the family bonds that tie us to the generations that came before us. This story is about celebrating our past—even as we look to the future.”

Epcot International Festival of the Arts Returns for a Second Year from January 12 to February 19

Epcot International Festival of the Arts Returns for a Second Year from January 12 to February 19

The Epcot International Festival of the Arts will return for a second year in 2018. Celebrating many forms of art, including performing, visual and culinary, the 2018 festival will be held from January 12 through February 19.  The festivities will run seven days a week and will include an added bonus of Disney On Broadway performances each weekend (Fridays through Mondays).

I had the opportunity to enjoy this festival last year and have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed it. This festival is a great time to enjoy a variety of arts but you also benefit from lower Walt Disney World crowds and cooler temperatures. I was happy to see that the festival experienced a successful first year and it looks like 2018 is coming back bigger and better.

Arts

In 2018 guests will enjoy world-class cuisine, remarkable visual art and an extraordinary lineup of live entertainment. The festival will be brimming with phenomenal artists, gourmet fare, musical performances, stage productions and other amazing acts.

Here are a few highlights you can expect to see at 2018’s festival:

  • Seminars and workshops from top Disney, local and nationally-renowned artists including classes on drawing animation, photography and the art of making topiaries – just to name a few.
  • More than a half a dozen specially-created food studios offering a wealth of “artistic” culinary delights
  • A host of performing artists that build on Epcot’s already stellar lineup of authentic performers
  • Disney on Broadway series featuring performers from some of the best Disney Theatrical productions

Dinner and a Show
Another returning favorite is our Disney on Broadway Dining Packages, where you can maximize your experience at the Festival with a meal at one of the participating Epcot restaurants and priority seating for our Disney on Broadway concert series.

Guests can now book a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner, and later be followed by a phenomenal Disney on Broadway inspired concert – select dates from January 12 – February 19, 2018. The concert series will feature pairings of Disney on Broadway stars, singing favorite songs from award-winning Broadway shows. When you reserve a Disney on Broadway Dining Package, you will have priority seats waiting for you for the 5:30, 6:45 or 8 p.m. concert.

You need to book these soon; as these events are sure to fill up quickly!

Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde Has Hilarious Encounter With U.S. Customs Officials

Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde Has Hilarious Encounter With U.S. Customs Officials

Esteemed Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde who was the Lead Designer behind Disney’s Animal Kingdom including the much-loved Expedition Everest attraction recently took to Twitter to share a hilarious encounter he had with U.S. Customs Officials during a recent airport visit:

In  follow-up tweets Rohde added, “My answer was long” and “Well…it IS in the best interests of our country :)”

Since the Expedition Everest attraction opened back in 2006, the Yeti has been a much-talked-about topic in the Disney-sphere.  During the ride’s opening, the Yeti was the largest and most complex audio-animatronic figure ever built by the Imagineering Team at Walt Disney.  However, today, for those that have experienced Everest, you’ll notice that the Yeti never moves.  Due to technical problems not long after the rides opening, the Yeti has been static with a strobe light effect giving the sense of motion.   Disney has tried several enhancements to return the Yeti to its full animatronic glory but eleven years later, it has yet to happen.

Rohde has gone on record as saying that fixing the Yeti still remains a priority and that someday it will once again be fully operational, however, no projected date has ever been given for the completion of this project.

Mad Tea Party and Haunted Mansion Dresses Dancing into the Dress Shop Soon

Haunted Mansion Dresses

Her Universe, and Dress Shop fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Disney Parks inspired dresses that were first unveiled at D23. With lots of teases from Ashley Eckstein on social media, and the newest Display at the Dress Shop in Disney springs, it looks like the release day for the Mad Tea Party and Haunted Mansion Dresses is drawing close!

Mad Tea Party and Haunted Mansion Dresses Dancing into the Dress Shop Soon

The incredibly well detailed Tight Rope Walker dress showed up on display recently at the Dress Shop on Cherry Tree Lane in Disney Springs. Everything about this dress is so impeccably executed, from the velour bodice and cape, to the floral printed white skirt. There is even a border of the infamous pink umbrella along the bottom of the skirt.

A second Haunted Mansion dress has been displayed on Her Universe social media as well, this one is less of a literal character, and more spooky inspiration. You’ll notice the ballroom scene outlines along the hem, which is my favorite part of the ride!

Of course we can’t forget the gorgeous Mad Tea Party inspired outfits coming soon too! These brilliant garments feature skirts inspired by the whimsical and colorful teacups of the beloved ride. The matching cardigan is a soft yellow, with a dormouse in the teapot detailing on the left side.

This is just the beginning of the Her Universe Disney Parks dresses though! Each land of Magic Kingdom will be getting a dress inspired by it. Frontierland will be the first, with Fantasyland following soon after.

Disney Cruise Line: Beyond the Curtain of the Spectacular Shows at Sea

Disney Cruise Line: Beyond the Curtain of the Spectacular Shows at Sea

Amazing Broadway-style shows are a must-see on any Disney Cruise. The work and effort Disney Cast Members put into dreaming up the magic and rehearsing intricate musical numbers results in spectacular shows at sea.

Once the show has been planned and rehearsals are completed, it is ready to sail.  The scenery, costumes and props are loaded onto the ship and installed in the Walt Disney Theatre. Fitting magical flying carpets, life-size horses and entire ice palaces inside a cruise ship is no easy feat.

While the installation takes place, the cast polishes performances in final rehearsals – for the first time on the actual theatre stage. Technical elements such as music, lighting and special effects are layered in during this time as well. From the snow flurries of “Frozen,” to the enchanted objects of “Beauty and the Beast,” to the spellbinding floating lanterns in “Tangled,” guests can step into the magic and become a part of these treasured stories.

Disney Cruise Line: Beyond the Curtain of the Spectacular Shows at Sea

Then, it’s show time! Disney Cruise guests are then treated to amazing performances as beloved Disney stories and original productions are brought to life! These dazzling spectacles are a beautiful blend of theater craft, technology and old-fashioned storytelling that deliver captivating and heartfelt entertainment like only Disney can do.

“Beauty and the Beast” fans are anxiously awaiting the debut of Disney Cruise Lines’s newest production. The musical premieres during the Disney Dream voyage departing Nov. 6, 2017, joining an incredible lineup of Broadway-style stage productions aboard the ship, including “The Golden Mickeys” and “Disney’s Believe.”
