Thor: Ragnaork made it’s international debut in the United Kingdom this past Tuesday. While Tuesday is an odd day for a movie premiere, it’s important to note that schools were on a break in the United Kingdom on Tuesday. It’s also important to note that the movie brought in a whopping $12.8 million in just two days!
Since Tuesday, Thor: Ragnaork has debuted or will open in several other international markets this week including France, Italy, Spain, Korea, Australia, and Brazil. Next week, the film hits the rest of the world including not only North America, but China and Japan.
Deadline.com is reporting that the film brought in over $2.8 million in Korea in just two days – the biggest industry opening day ever for an October release. Same goes for Taiwan. Over in Indonesia, it was the sixth biggest industry all-time opening day.
Movie industry insiders are projecting the latest Thormovie to bring in anywhere from $85 to $100 million. By the looks of things, it sounds like they are well on the way to meet if not exceed those numbers.

The giant Christmas tree will be illuminated in “A Holiday Wish-Come-True” Tree Lighting Ceremony, while a live quartet of singers adds magic to the scene by singing classic Christmas tunes.
Guests can celebrate together and create sweet memories with loved ones as the “Disney in the Stars” Fireworks light up the night sky above Sleeping Beauty Castle. Santa Goofy will join the Christmas Carolers in Town Square to bid everyone a warm goodnight in the specially arranged “A Holiday Kiss Goodnight” moment, rounding off a perfect day of Christmas fun.
Dining delights and gifts for the season of giving Restaurants in the park and hotels have added more than 70 delights and drinks to this year’s festive Christmas menus. The brand-new “Christmas Dessert Party at Train Station” offers more than a dozen sweet snacks for dessert lovers on selected nights. Market House Bakery will have other sweet treats too, such as “Christmas Donald,” “Christmas Daisy,” “Creamy Snow Man,” “Christmas Tree Cookies” and “Christmas Tree Croissant.” A Christmas Pluto Popcorn Bucket will be available at outdoor vending carts for nibbling.

Broadway’s The Lion King has been delighting fans around the world ever since it premiered in New York City 20 years ago. In celebration of the historic anniversary, The Lion King will be giving away free tickets to their performance on the evening of Wednesday, November 15 at 8pm via a lottery system. The Cast and Crew of The Lion King is offering the free performance to thank New York City for being their home the past 20 years.
“Though it’s been seen around the world, The Lion King was born in New York City – from the studio in the Flatiron district where we rehearsed, to the Bronx shop where its sets were built, to its Broadway home in the heart of Times Square,” said Thomas Schumacher President & Producer, Disney Theatrical Productions. “This free performance is our chance to thank New York City for 20 years of loving support and we hope audiences who could otherwise not experience Julie Taymor’s glorious vision will join us to toast the show born here in their hometown.”

One of the exciting announcements coming out of this year’s D23 Expo was that Disneyland would be getting a new Spring Festival dubbed Pixar Fest. We are very excited to let our readers know that Disney released an official start date for next year’s festival. This celebration of Disney•Pixar will officially kick off on April 13, 2018.
Highlights of this limited time celebration of friendship include the debut of an all-new fireworks spectacular and the return of two much-loved parades as well as more Pixar characters, new decor, specially themed treats and fantastic merchandise.
The one aspect of next year’s festival that already has people talking is “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” which will light up the Disneyland night sky starting on April 13th. This fireworks extravaganza will feature amazing pyrotechnics, memorable music from your favorite Pixar films and an underlying theme of the importance of friendship. The show will take visitors on a journey starting when Pixar characters first meet, the obstacles they overcome together and the everlasting friendships forged along the way. This exclusive event will feature state-of-the-art projections on iconic park locations including Sleeping Beauty Castle, the water screens of Rivers of America, the facade of “it’s a small world” and the buildings of Main Street U.S.A. and will feature a Buzz Lightyear flyover!
Also on April 13th, the much-loved “Paint the Night” parade will make a comeback at Disney California Adventure Park. The parade features many Pixar characters including friends from “Toy Story,” “Monsters, Inc.” and “Cars” and makes the perfect addition to the Pixar festivities. Disney is also teasing that another Pixar film will make its debut in the parade. We’ll let you know as soon as further details are announced!
Pixar Fest also marks the launch of the all-new “Pixar Play Parade” which will make its way through Disneyland Park. The parade will begin with a special appearance by the iconic Pixar Lamp and will feature characters from many Pixar films including Up and Inside Out.
The Pixar Short Film Festival will also offer a delightful rotating collection of favorite Pixar Shorts including “For the Birds” and “Lava” at the Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure.
Guests will also be able to take the Pixar fun home with them with a host of new merchandise including an exclusive Pixar Fest charm bracelet featuring a variety of charms including fun friendship messages and favorite Pixar characters. Half the fun will be mixing and matching to come up with your own special combination.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we are just learning that Splash Mountain will be closing for another refurbishment in the early part of 2018. The popular ride at the Magic Kingdom closed on August 28, 2017 for a refurbishment and is scheduled to reopen on November 17, 2017.
Per the Disney Travel Agent website, the next refurbishment on Splash Mountain is expected to begin on January 8, 2018 and last until February 1, 2018.
So, what’s the reason for another refurbishment within a few months? One of the reasons I can think of is the current refurbishment is taking longer than planned and they want to have the ride back up and running for the height of the holiday season. Then, they can close the ride down in January when crowds start to slow down once the holidays and Marathon Weekend are over.
Let’s just hope this is the last refurbishment for a long while now!
