Disney Previews New Holiday-themed Merchandise for Winter 2017

It’s Christmas in July and in the spirit of the Season, Disney has started to reveal some of the exciting happenings and merchandise coming your way this Yuletide Season.

Some of the highlights include Christmas stockings featuring a wide range of Disney characters (pictured above),

There will also be a wide range of Disney pints on offer including these Mickey’s Christmas Carol Tsum Tsum pins that we can’t wait to get our hands on.

But the piece de resistance for all you Disney collectors has to be this amazing holiday Dooney & Bourke!

In addition to this fabulous merchandise preview, Disney also gave us a small inkling of exiting happenings coming to Disney World this holiday season. What we do know so far is that Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! will be back to wow guests at Hollywood Studios this Christmas. In addition, Hollywood Studios will also ring in the season with two new special holiday experiences which will be announced at a later day. The Mexico Pavilion at Epcot’s World Showcase will also have a new entertainment experiences as part of the annual Holidays Around the World celebrations.

ARDY Arch Now Displayed at All Star Music Resort

In April of 2017 the ARDY Arch was on display at Disney Springs providing a fun photo opportunity. During a recent visit to the All Star Resorts we discovered that this Radio Disney Music Awards Arch has not actually left the Walt Disney World Resort. In fact, the ARDY Arch is now on display at the All Star Music Resort.

All Star Music is centrally located on the grounds of the All Star Resorts, between All Star Sports and All Star Movies. If you have a little one who enjoys the Artists, and the Music, of Radio Disney then this is a great place to visit and grab a photo or two. The All Star Music Resort seems like the perfect place to display this beautiful Arch.

You can find the ARDY Arch across from the main check-in area at All Star Music Resort. The Arch represents the ARDY Award presented each year to Musical Artists who have been chosen via votes entered by their fans. Since 2014, the ARDY Arch has sat on the red carpet providing a photo backdrop for Radio Disney Celebrities attending the Radio Disney Music Awards. We love the little Red Carpet!

Feeling like a Musical Celebrity Star? You can also grab a souvenir photo with the Disney’s All Star Music Resort window display. The ARDY Arch is placed against this red wall featuring large white stars. A fun backdrop for feeling like a Star.

38,000 Disney Union Workers Push For Talks Regarding Wage Increase

38,00 unionized Disney employees are looking to re-open talks to negotiate a pay raise up from the current minimum hourly wage of $10.00. According to recent reports, talks are slated to take place starting on August 28th. The employees would negotiate through the Service Trades Council Union.

The Walt Disney Company signed an agreement back in 2014 that allowed workers to re-open wage negotiations beginning this year. Both sides have until October to come to an arrangement regarding hourly rates or the contract would have to be re-opened. This could have a knock-on effect on health-care and pension options.

The Walt Disney Resort is the largest theme-park in the world and boasts over 74,000 workers in the Orlando area.

Actor David Tennant Recently Vistited Disneyland Resort

We know celebrities love the Disney parks, in fact Cobie Smulders and Taran Killam spent their summer vacation with their daughters, in Walt Disney World. Over at Disneyland Resort, David Tennant was recently on a trip with his family, when he stopped to pose for a photo with Scrooge McDuck! What a perfect photo-op for the actor, who will be voicing Scrooge McDuck in the upcoming animated series DuckTales.

When asked what he liked most about Scrooge McDuck, David said, “He’s got a hidden life. You think he’s a crotchety old windbag, when he’s actually Indiana Jones with a beak!” DuckTales premieres on Disney XD August 12th, 2017.

New Luxury JW Marriott Resort Coming to Walt Disney World

We previously reported that there were rumors of a new Marriott resort coming to the Disney World area. Well, looks like that rumor might be coming true with word of plans filed for the a new JW Marriott on the corner of Epcot Center Drive and I-4 on Monday. Kimley Horn, a planning and engineering firm, filed the application on behalf of DCS Investments who purchased the land in 2012.

Plans call for a 16-story hotel with 516 rooms. The plans also state that there will be 50,000 square feet of meeting space, a rooftop bar, and signature restaurant.

This will be the second JW Marriott in the Orlando area. Their other hotel, JW Marriott Grande Lakes offers around 1,000 hotel rooms making it one of the largest hotels in the area.

Once official announcement is made by Marriott and more details are released, we will let you know.

Disney is Developing Facial Recognition Technology to Gain Your Real Time Reaction to a Movie

Next time you are at the theater watching a Disney movie, Disney might be watching back at you! Disney Researchers have developed a neural network that allows them to receive your immediate reaction to a scene in a movie. This new technology is designed to be able to detect a range of emotions from laughing to crying from hundreds of theatergoers in a dark theater. Disney will use this date to determine if the movie is working on it’s intended “granular scale.” This technology very well could be used in Disney Parks to create an instant magical moment for Park guests.

This facial recognition system was tested on 150 audiences for showings of The Jungle Book and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. While this technology isn’t new, Disney and other companies have been using similar systems for decades to maybe make an edit to a movie per guests’ reactions, this enhanced version is able to generate very large amounts of data for researchers. For instance, 3,179 people who participated in one study were able to generate 16 million points of data. This technology that Disney is developing is so advanced that it can even predict which facial expressions moviegoers will make through the rest of the movie.

Marketplace Fun Finds in Disney Springs to Be Replaced By Star Wars-themed Store

Some Star Wars –themed changes are afoot over at Marketplace Fun Finds in Disney Springs. The store is currently closed for refurbishments and will re-open with a new name and a focus on Star Wars souvenirs and merchandise.

This change is happening in conjunction with changes to Once Upon a Toy which will be officially closing the Star Wars area of the shop to make way for a new themed section on July 31st.
