The History Of The Pirates Of The Caribbean - A D23 Expo Exhibit

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, an exhibit was created called “A Pirates Life for Me: Disney’s Rascals, Scoundrels, Really Bad Eggs” for the attendees at this year’s D23 Expo.

The attraction made its debut at Disneyland park in 1967 and has made its way to the Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and most recently a re-imagined version of the ride, Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure, opened at the Shanghai Disneyland Park in 2016.

The Disney Archives decided to mark the occasion by opening a special “A Pirates Life for Me: Disney’s Rascals, Scoundrels, Really Bad Eggs” exhibit at this year’s D23 Expo. This walk-through exhibit featured never-before-released imagery created during the making of the attraction, plus sheet music, costumes, pirate props and much more.

Disney has just released some of the details for this year’s parties. Let’s take a closer look at all the festive cheer that will be in store for guests attending a party this year:

During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, you’re invited to share hugs, receive autographs and snap pictures with more than 15 beloved Disney Characters as they spread holiday cheer around Magic Kingdom park. Wave to your Disney friends during this holiday parade brimming with magic and cheer! Festive gingerbread men, elves and others dance down Main Street, U.S.A. alongside Disney Characters that include:

Popular ABC Game Shows Renewed for Another Season

If you are a fan of $100,000 Pyramid, Celebrity Family Feud, and/or Match Game, I have good news for you! They all have been renewed by ABC for another season. This will mark a fourth season for Celebrity Family Feud and a third season for $100,000 Pyramid and Match Game. All three shows are a part of ABC’s “Fun & Games.”

Also to return will be the hosts of the games shows. Michael Strahan and Steve Harvey will be back for $100,000 Pyramid and Celebrity Family Feud respectively. It was also announced that Alec Baldwin signed on for an additional two years to host Match Game.

To Tell the Truth, which also is a part of ABC’s “Fun & Games” has already been renewed. “Fun & Games” is on ABC on Sunday evenings.

Disney is the parent company of ABC.

Is a Mary Poppins-themed Attraction Coming to Epcot?

Even though several new attractions and changes were announced for Epcot at this year’s D23 Expo, that doesn’t mean the rumor mill has died down! While several rumors were confirmed by Disney, there is still much speculation that more attractions might be added down the line.

One hot rumor right now is the United Kingdom Pavilion receiving a new attraction. Currently, people are saying that the attraction will be themed after Alice in Wonderland, Brave, the Loch Ness Monster, or Mary Poppins.

Mary Poppins seems to be the strongest candidate and it make senses. Disney’s new Mary Poppins movie, Mary Poppins Returns starring Emily Blunt, is set to premiere in theaters at the end of 2018.

Rumors of changes and additions to the World Showcase have been swirling for years. There is plenty of room for new pavilions to be built as well as adding onto some of the current ones. Many were expecting a Brazil pavilion to be announced at D23 Expo but that never did come to fruition. That doesn’t mean it will not happen down the line. Maybe the announcements that were made about new Ratatouille and Guardians of the Galaxy rides along with the extensive changes coming to Future World are just the beginning for Epcot!

Lighthouse Sculpture Honors the Memory of Lane Graves at the Grand Floridian Resort

A beautiful lighthouse sculpture honoring two year old Lane Graves has been erected at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa at Walt Disney World. The sculpture is located near the location of the tragic accident that took place a little over a year ago on June 14, 2016.

The lighthouse is a symbol of the Lane Thomas Foundation, which was established by Matt and Melissa Graves following the sudden loss of their young son . The Lane Thomas Foundation is dedicated to providing financial support for non-medical expenses to families with children in need of life-saving organ transplants at Omaha healthcare facilities.

Hong Kong Disneyland Replacing Astro Blasters With New Marvel Attraction

We are hearing big news coming out of Hong Kong Disneyland today. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters located in Tomorrowland will undergo a transformation into a new Marvel-themed interactive shooting game, making it the second Marvel-themed attraction following the popular Iron Man Experience. Upon completion, guests can join Marvel Super Heroes to defeat invaders in this all new experience.

This is just the next step towards the new Marvel-themed land which opens at Hong Kong Disneyland in the future. Hong Kong Disneyland will bid farewell to Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters on August 31.

From August 8 until 31, Buzz Lightyear will come to Tomorrowland and support guests from the “Buzz Lightyear Guard” as they finish their final mission at the entrance of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. At the same time, to commemorate this meaningful moment, Hong Kong Disneyland will introduce and distribute free Buzz Lightyear-themed stickers to guests as souvenirs at Tomorrowland. Meanwhile, fans of Buzz Lightyear can purchase an array of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters-themed products at Star Command Suppliers in Tomorrowland and Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A.

Magic Access Members can also get an exclusive Buzz Lightyear notebook in Star Command Suppliers or Andy’s Toy Box in Toy Story Land by presenting a valid on-day receipt showing net single spending of HK$350 or above in the resort, each Member may redeem once only, while stock lasts. From August 9, Magic Access Members can get a Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters Commemorative Booklet at the Magic Access Member Service Center by presenting their valid membership cards in person, while stock lasts.
