First Look At Disneyland 2017 Half Marathon Weekend Pixar Merchandise

The Disneyland Half Marathon weekend returns this year from August 31 through September 3. Runners are gearing up for a magical Pixar weekend of fun-filled runs during the happiest races on Earth. With a race this exciting there has to be a variety of amazing commemorative products created especially for the event. Let’s take a look at some of the beloved favorites and a few new options to remember their races.

Products featuring artwork of Pixar characters from ‘Toy Story,’ ‘Monsters, Inc.,’ and ‘The Incredibles’ will make their runDisney debut this year. Thousands Descend Upon Disney Springs For American Idol Auditions

Thursday kicked off the American Idol auditions at Walt Disney World and thousands descended upon Disney Springs to see if they had what it takes. To add even more magic, idol-winners Jordin Sparks, Kris Allen and Ruben Studdard made a special appearance and greeted lucky audition participants.

Don’t worry if you didn’t make it out to audition this week, you can still become a part of Idol history by auditioning at the American Idol pop-up audition kiosks located at Disney Springs. Located at the Marketplace stalls through mid-September, visitors can create and submit their very own audition video at the kiosk during normal Disney Springs operating hours.

The American Idol Bus tour continues through September 14th hitting Boston, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Denver, Louisville and many more. To see the full list of Idol bus stops and to audition online visit americanidol.com.

Family Traveling to Disney World Turned Away from Airport Lounge due to Custom Disney Shirts

The Raikes Family’s journey from England to Orlando got off to an un-magical start this past week. The family of eight paid extra (about £700 or $900) to enjoy their pre-flight wait in Manchester Airport’s Aspire Lounge. However, their plans were quickly ruined when they weren’t allowed entry to the lounge because of their Disney-themed shirts.

As like many families visiting Disney World, they chose to make custom shirts for their visit and wear them on their international flight. The shirts said “Florida 2017” and “Familymoon” with a silhouette of the castle and Mickey and Minnie heads. They Raikes Family was informed that these shirts violated the dress code for the Aspire Lounge.

The Aspire Lounge dress code states “smart casual attire along with items such as non-sport shorts (i.e. smart shorts/cargo shorts), sandals and smart trainers, non-sport fashion tracksuits, hooded tops” are allowed. It also states they can deny access to guests wearing “clothing with offensive slogans, vest tops for men, football or rugby shirts, clothing with offensive slogans, fancy dress, or onesies.”

Swissport, who operates this Aspire Lounge, released the following statement: “On this specific occasion, the member of staff who dealt with the family was wrong to have asked them to cover their personalized T-shirts and has misinterpreted the dress code, which is designed to ensure a comfortable atmosphere for all guests within our network of lounges.” It was also stated that they employees would be “re-educated” on the dress code to ensure this does not happen again.”

VIDEO: How To Create A Humphrey the Bear Bento Box

Have you seen these amazing Disney inspired Bento boxes? They can be made to resemble favorite Disney characters and make a fun back to school lunch for your little ones. Mike Kranavis took over a villa kitchen at Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge to show us how to create a special Humphrey the Bear bento box.

To create Humphrey, dark brown rice and soy sauce-soaked tan rice are used first to create his head. Details of his face are then made from a nori seaweed sheet and white American cheese. Black olives are also added to create a perfect bear nose. Check out the video above for detailed step-by-step instructions.

Alan Arkin Cast in Upcoming Live-Action Dumbo Movie

Tim Burton is directing Disney’s live-action Dumbo film, and Alan Arkin has just joined the cast. Arkin will be play the role of J. Griffin Remington, a Wall Street tycoon. The star-studded cast includes, Eva Green, Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, and Danny Devito.

Burton’s twist on the classic Dumbo story will focus on Holt Farrier (Colin Ferrell.) Just home from war, former circus star Holt takes charge of a baby elephant who is subject to ridicule due to his oversized ears.

Dumbo is scheduled to premiere in theaters March 29th, 2019. I love Tim Burton’s style and am anxious to see his take on this beloved Disney classic! Will you be headed to the theater when the live-action Dumbo premieres? Share in the comments below!

Disney’s Mobile Order Coming to Harabme Market at Animal Kingdom

Harambe Market in Disney’s Animal Kingdom will soon join the growing list of Quick Service locations participating in Mobile Order.

Starting August 21st you will be able to select, customize, and pre-pay for your meal from your My Disney Experience app. Once you arrive at the restaurant, you simply tap the “I’m here” button in the app, which notifies the kitchen to prepare your meal. You are then alerted through the app to pick up your order at a designated window.

At this time the only form of payment accepted is a credit card. No discounts or dining plans will be able to be applied using Mobile Order. Guests requesting to use a discount, dining plan entitlement or have special dietary requests/allergies should place their order with a cashier.

Firefighters Responding to Chlorine Leak at Disneyland Hotel

Anaheim firefighters are on site at Disneyland responding to a chlorine leak outside the Disneyland Hotel.

Around 8:15 a.m., firefighters responded to a report that workers had accidentally severed a chlorine line on the lawn. Guests were asked to remain inside the hotel and other buildings while the line is evaluated.

At least nine ambulances and several fire engines have been reported at the scene.However, there are no reports of injuries at this time. For more information visit ocregister.com.

Walt Disney World’s Plans for the Solar Eclipse

There is just a few more days to go until the much anticipated Solar Eclipse. The eclipse in Central Florida is projected to block out anywhere from 80% to 90% of the sun providing guests of Disney World some great views. Total darkness can occur between 2:30 and 3:30 pm.

Many people have been asking what Disney has planned for the unique event. While nothing official has been announced by Disney, the operating hours of some attractions have been changed. Here is a list of the changes that have been announced so far. We will keep updating it as information comes in:

The Marina at the Grand Floridian Resort will be closed all day on Monday and reopen on Tuesday.
Tom Sawyer Island at the Magic Kingdom will close at 2 pm and will stay closed for the entire day on Monday.
Animal Trails at Animal Kingdom will close briefly prior to it getting dark and will reopen once the darkness period is over.
Blizzard Beach will close as needed at the onset of darkness. Entertainment will be available at the beach area of the park and additional lighting will be added. Also, buses will be running directly to Typhoon Lagoon from 1:30 to 2:45 pm.
Typhoon Lagoon already has nighttime lighting installed and will be utilizing during the darkness period. There should be no impact to guests of the park.
Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre will be closed from 12 to 5 pm on Monday since Disney is shutting down all lake activities.
Ferry Transportation sounds like it will be also stopped between 12 and 5 pm per Sammy Duvall’s announcement. No official word on this has been announced by Disney as of now.

If you plan on being at Disney World and want to view the eclipse, make sure to bring your own glasses! Disney will not be providing any for their guests due to liability reasons.

Though it may be hard to believe, Disney’s Halloween festivities kick of at Magic Kingdom park starting on August 25 and will run through until November 1st. This time of year at Disney World is synonymous with beautiful decorations, special Halloween events like Mickey’s-Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and most importantly (for us Disney foodies) great Halloween-inspired eats!

To give us a taste of the delicious Autumn offerings, Disney revealed some of the fantastic items that will be available to guests starting next week. Here’s quick look at some of our favorites:

Jack Skellington (pictured above) is getting his own dessert this year during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party which you’ll find at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square. This sweet treat is made up of vanilla panna cotta, chocolate cake, vanilla buttercream, white chocolate and dark chocolate crisp pearls, dark chocolate curls and a white chocolate Jack Skellington.

Haunted Mansion Treats

These visually stunning treats inspired by The Haunted Mansion can be found scattered across the following Magic Kingdom locations during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party:

Aloha Isle – chocolate tart filled with chocolate ganache and topped with Oreo panna cotta and a white chocolate Haunted Mansion-inspired portrait.
Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies – chocolate tart filled with raspberry compote and topped with white chocolate mousse and a Haunted Mansion-inspired white chocolate portrait.
Liberty Square Market – chocolate tart filled with chocolate ganache and topped with peanut butter icing and a Haunted Mansion-inspired white chocolate portrait.
Storybook Treats – chocolate tart filled with lemon curd, strawberry compote and topped with strawberry mousse and a Haunted Mansion-inspired white chocolate portrait.

Cheesecake Dome

This little slice of cheesecake heaven can be found at Gaston’s Tavern and Main Street Bakery during the Halloween Party and features a pumpkin flavored cheesecake dome with a graham cracker struesel base, orange white chocolate glaze and is topped with a white chocolate Mickey.

Mickey Waffles

Head on over to Sleepy Hollow for these delicious pumpkin Mickey Waffles complete with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, sprinkles and caramel sauce.

Magic Kingdom Halloween

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn an Cafe is offering up Worms and Dirt during the the Halloween Party. This creative treat features a chocolate gravestone with chocolate cake, chocolate mousse and a chocolate glaze topped with Oreo crumbs and gummy candy.

Halloween Treats

Visitors can sink their teeth into one of these amazing Chocolate Crisped Rice Treats come party time or Vampire Mickey Brownies both of which will be found at various kiosks throughout Magic Kingdom Park.

In addition, Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Tomorrowland will be serving up Candy Corn Ice Cream.

For those visiting the Magic Kingdom but not attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the Main Street Bakery will be serving up bright orange Mickey Halloween Cupcakes with chocolate cake filled with purple marshmallow fluff topped with orange vanilla buttercream, sprinkles and a white chocolate scarecrow Mickey. As well as this delicious Mickey-shaped Cinnamon Roll.
