Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Blu-Ray and DVD Review

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits stores on Blu-Ray and DVD tomorrow, August 22nd. I just had the pleasure of watching the Blu-Ray, and it reminded me just how much I loved the film when I saw it in theaters. I have gone back and forth on whether this sequel was better than the first; overall I feel as though sequels have a hard time living up to their original film, but after watching the movie a second time, I just can’t get over how hard it hit me emotionally!

If you haven’t seen the film yet, don’t fret! It is action-packed and absolutely hilarious. While the comedy is non-stop, director James Gunn really hit straight to the heart with the depth of this storyline. The film centers around Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) discovering the truth behind who his father is, and where he comes from. Going beyond that, the film addresses the definition of family, and how family isn’t always defined by blood and birth, but rather by the people who stand beside you in desperate times. I especially love the other side we see of Yondu (Michael Rooker) as the film progresses.

The Blu-Ray bonus extras include a gag reel, deleted scenes and “Guardians Inferno” Music video, as well as a behind the scenes making of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and audio commentary by director James Gunn. I truly believe the “Guardians Inferno” Music Video takes the cake in the bonus category! It’s super cheesy, yet hilarious, and features David Hasselhoff, plus other actors from the movie.

I have to say, while I am really looking forward to the upcoming Marvel films, such as Thor: Raganrok and Black Panther (not to mention Avengers: Infinity Wars) I do believe the Guardians of the Galaxy films offer just a bit more than the others. In my opinion, James Gunn has found a perfect balance of emotion throughout the movies, I look forward to what is to come for the Guardians.

Didn I mention how epic the music in this film is? You’re going to want to buy the soundtrack!

If you’ve ever spent time in a Disney park, there is no doubt you’ve noticed the like-new condition in which the parks are kept; what you probably haven’t noticed, are the Cast Members who work hard to keep them that way. You wouldn’t notice them because they are hard at work making keeping the parks magical, while you are sleeping. Disneyland Resort employs several hundred third-shift Cast Members, and they recently treated this hard-working crew to a “Cars under the Stars – Third Shift Celebration.”

The party was held in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure park in the early morning hours on August 16th. The celebration included food, prizes, and a pop up coffee cart, as well as a chance for the Cast Members to experience attractions that are normally closed during their shift.

After the well-deserved celebration, Cast Members returned back to their shift to ready the park for the day’s guests. Third-shift workers such as gardeners, carpenters, painters, pictorial artists, electricians, plumbers, and more, show up every morning at 2:00 a.m. and work to keep the parks maintained until 10:00 a.m., daily. Working in the dark can be rather difficult, many wear headgear with lights to carry out various tasks like maintaining decor, installing holiday decor, pest control, mowing, etc.

I’d like to thank the third-shift Cast Members for all their hard work in helping keep the magic alive in the parks. Your effort is much appreciated!

This Friday, August 25th marks the first night of the 2017 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. In preparation for the celebration, Disney World has released their 2017 Halloween merchandise, and it’s spooktacular!

Mickeys of Hollywood in Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a great collection of Halloween merchandise. If you are planning on attending the Halloween Party and still in search of the perfect outfit, Mickey’s of Hollywood has multiple shirts in short sleeve, and long sleeve, options.

It’s been two weeks since our last check in on the progress being made at the Hollywood Studios expansion. Let’s take a look at the latest aerial photography from @bioreconstruct and see what changes have occured on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land.

I don’t know about you but I’m seriously impressed on how much track is being used for this coaster. It’s definitely going to be a longer attraction than I thought it would be.

We can now see the new entrance for Toy Story Midway Mania taking shape. Guests will being entering the attraction from Toy Story Land once it’s open. The entrance to the new land will be between the former Captain Jack Sparrow show and Toy Story Mania.

This is what I was excited to see this week. Our first glimpse at Toy Story Land theming! Looks like Andy left some of his toy blocks out for us to enjoy.

Last time we checked in we only saw the roof supports. Looks like they have been busy getting the actual roof frame in place.

STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is in the foreground with Toy Story Land in the back left. It looks like they are going to have to do same major camouflage to impede viewing of the land from the street outside.

This ride is informally known as the “Battle Escape” attraction. Disney has said “visitors will find themselves in the middle of a tense battle between stormtroopers and Resistance fighters.”

This is the Millennium Falcon attraction, which will feature a ride where guests can pilot the famed Corellian YT-1300 light freighter.
