Marvel Studios is, once again, encouraging young girls to explore the superpower of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with the MARVEL STUDIOS’ THOR: RAGNAROK SUPERPOWER OF STEM CHALLENGE.

This program, supported by American Association for the Advancement of Science, Broadcom MASTERS, and Society for Science & the Public, seeks to inspire young girls to use the superpower of STEM to help their family, community or the world be safer, healthier or happier. MARVEL STUDIOS’ THOR: RAGNAROK SUPERPOWER OF STEM CHALLENGE invites girls nationwide, ages 15 -18 in grades 10 – 12 living in the 50 United States and D.C., to use the superpower of STEM to create an original Do-It-Yourself project that can be replicated by others.

Five finalists will be selected to come to Los Angeles and present their projects, in person, to a panel of experts and to attend the Red Carpet Premiere of Marvel Studios’ THOR: RAGNAROK. Each finalist will receive: Two round-trip tickets to Southern California for the finalist and her parent or guardian, including scheduled meals, ground transportation to and from organized activities, hotel accommodations, from October 8 through October 11, 2017; the opportunity to be on the red carpet at the Premiere of Marvel Studios’ THOR: RAGNAROK, $500 deposited into a high-yield savings account from Synchrony Bank; a tour of the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California; and more.

One grand-prize winner will be selected from the five finalists to attend an immersive three-day mentorship in New York City with Disney Imagineering to build her STEM story, creating a professional-level video teaching other young people how to recreate her Challenge–winning project. The winner will also have the opportunity to demonstrate her Superpower of STEM project live to the nation with a brief appearance on Good Morning America. (The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Good Morning America / ABC News.) The video created during her mentorship will be made available to students, teachers and families worldwide on the American Association for the Advancement of Science education resource website ScienceNetLinks.com.

Halloween at the Disney Parks is just around the corner, and lots of spooky new items have been making appearances. We haven’t seen any Halloween Tsum Tsum items yet stateside, but recently Hong Kong Disneyland revealed new Halloween sets!

Hong Kong Disneyland released a preview of the new Mini Tsum Tsum and Micro Tsum Tsum set that they will have available. The mirco set will come with a stuffed Haunted Mansion, that will be perfect for tucking all of your ghoulish Tsums in. The minis will have 8 in the collection, and feature Mickey and friends, as well as Duffy and friends!

Who doesn’t wish for a little Disney enchantment wherever they may go? The shop Wishes Candle Co, who created the fabulous Mystery Pin Candles has made a wish come true!

You can fill your car (or any where you want really) with the magic of Disney inspired fragrances with these simple but amazing car air fresheners. Each individual air freshener lasts 2-4 weeks and is not only great for the car, but also small spaces like office cubicles or closets. They come in packs of three, and each one is individually wrapped to stay fresh until it’s ready to be used. The round discs are made from wood soaked in fragrance, and come with an elastic string so you can hang it anywhere.

The Sumatran Tiger "Sohni" At Animal Kingdom Has Given Birth To Two Cubs

Last month I shared that Animal Kingdom’s Sumatran Tiger “Sohni” was expecting tiger cubs. Well I am incredibly excited to announce that Sohni has given birth to a pair of the cutest cubs I have ever seen. Only a few days old and these cubs are already super-stars as they are the first in the park’s history!

Mom and cubs are being monitored by a dedicated team of animal experts at the Animal Kingdom who are providing around-the-clock care. Sohni and her babies are are bonding well and guests will be able to see them soon in the next few months on the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

The Contemporary Resort’s award-winning restaurant California Grill will continue to offer Celebration at the Top – Sip, Savor, Sparkle through December 24. This event that is complete with fine food and an amazing view of Magic Kingdom’s fireworks first debuted in February of this year. The event had an original run date through April, but obviously the success of this experience has now extended offering dates through December 24.

Celebration at the Top is held in the Sonoma Room and the Napa Room at California Grill, located on the 15th floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. These beautiful rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and connect to an exclusive observation deck where you have an amazing view of Bay Lake as well as Magic Kingdom.

One hour prior to the start of Magic Kingdom’s “Happily Ever After” fireworks show, guests enjoy appetizers and refreshments including:

Canapés, sushi and small plates inspired by the California Grill menu

The “Delicious Disney, A Chef Series” is a dinner series hosted by Walt Disney World chefs. The talented Disney culinary staff offers an intimate evening of unique cuisine and wine pairings. Multiple dates for these exclusive events were announced at the beginning of the year, but Delicious Disney has added a date this November.

The themed dinner will take place at California Grill located in Disney’s Contemporary Resort and will celebrate Mickey Mouse’s 89th Birthday! Taking place November 18th, 2017, the night will be kicked off with a 7:00 p.m. reception, with dinner in the Napa Room at 7:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy a private viewing of Magic Kingdom‘s Happily Ever After nighttime show to cap off the evening.

If you enjoy a nice evening of fine dining with the top Disney chefs, this is the event for you. Space is limited so I recommend making reservations sooner rather than later. Tickets are $350 per guest, including tax and gratuity.

New Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Card Available At Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

This Friday we celebrate the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the year! The party also brings with it the event-exclusive Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Card and this year it is inspired by The Country Bear Jamboree attraction.

According to Imagineer Jonathon Ackley, The Country Bears were chosen to be featured on this year’s card because they really know how to party. So this made them the perfect choice to represent Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

“What better way to help celebrate a party than with a performance by the world’s favorite ursine band?” Jonathan Said. “And on Halloween, anything scary will have no choice but to flee before the happy music of the Country Bears!”

Just in case you’re new to Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, this interactive game allows guests to team up with Merlin in defeating Disney Villains who are scheming to take over Magic Kingdom Park. Guests search for villain hideouts throughout the park, visit magic portals and use special spell cards to defeat villains. Each spell card stars a different Disney character, each with their own unique powers. The game begins at the Firehouse on Main Street, U.S.A., where you can pick up complimentary key cards, spell cards and maps (additional cards can be purchased at select merchandise locations).

This special event card will be distributed separately (and in addition to) the regular Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card packs you’re given at this location. Guests must register to play with their party ticket and event wristband in order to get one.

Disneyland Gets Approval to Add Over 400 Parking Spaces to its Toy Story Lot

In preparation for large crowds visiting “Star Wars” land opening in 2019, Disneyland Resort is adding more parking spaces to its “Toy Story” off-site parking lot.

Disneyland got approval from the Anaheim Planning Commission to add 455 parking spaces to its Toy Story lot off Harbor Boulevard and Convention Way. This will increase the lot to 5,378 parking spaces.

Disneyland Gets Approval to Add Over 400 Parking Spaces to its Toy Story Lot

Disneyland will replace 6-foot walls separating the parking area from nearby apartment complexes with a 16-foot-tall, sound wall made of masonry blocks and will landscape with rows of Canary Island Pine trees. Disney plans to add new lighting for the parking lot and a ramp that would connect to its tram depot.

The additional parking spaces are desperately needed in the Disneyland Resort area. During peak season guests unable to get into Disney’s 10,000-spot Mickey and Friends parking structure or the Toy Story lot find themselves with limited options around Disneyland. On rare occasions, the employee parking lot is used and workers have to park at Angel Stadium and be shuttled over to the park.

Looking ahead, plans are currently being proposed for the Disneyland Eastern Gateway project. The project, on the east side of Harbor, includes a seven-story, 6,800-spot parking structure and a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard to funnel guests straight into the esplanade area between the two theme parks. But the gateway proposal is on hold after neighboring businesses on Harbor Boulevard raised concerns.
