New Star Wars Souvenirs Arrive at Disney Parks

Yesterday was Star Wars Day! As the galaxy celebrated May the 4th, Walt Disney World and Disneyland joined the festivities in a big way, unleashing a fantastic wave of brand-new merchandise at the parks. Star Wars enthusiasts will discover a treasure trove of exciting collectibles, apparel, and more, perfect for commemorating this special day and showcasing their allegiance to the Force.

Multiple pins were released yesterday to celebrate Star Wars. Some are specific to one of the Star Wars films. All are limited edition.

jawa

Check out this cool new sipper at the parks! This unique collectible is sculpted to look just like a Jawa, the mysterious traders of the desert planet Tatooine. Decked out in their familiar brown hooded cloak, the sipper even features a face wrapped in what appears to be black cloth, playing into the long-standing mystery of their true appearance. Adding a touch of otherworldly charm, the Jawa sipper boasts large, round yellow eyes that actually light up with an orange glow! It’s a fun and intriguing way to stay hydrated while exploring the galaxy far, far away.

The Salvaged Clone Trooper Helmet popcorn bucket has also arrived at the parks. Forget those rounded helmet buckets of the past! The latest popcorn sensation is a meticulously detailed Clone Trooper helmet. This striking bucket features the iconic white design with the distinctive blue stripe running down its center. You’ll immediately recognize the classic Clone Trooper aesthetic with its signature ventilators and sleek black eye visors molded into the front. Adding a clever twist to its functionality, the opening for your popcorn is discreetly located on the underside of the helmet. So, get ready to flip it upside down to enjoy your delicious snack – a fun and functional tribute to the Republic’s finest!

coaxium

Thirsty for some iconic Blue or Green Milk in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? Then head over to the Milk Stand, where you can now snag the brand-new Coaxium Sipper! This unique container made its debut as part of the May the 4th festivities, but word on the street (or should we say, in the Outer Rim?) is that it’s likely to stick around on Batuu for a while, depending on how popular it becomes. Our crew made the hyperspace jump to Galaxy’s Edge to get a firsthand look at this intriguing sipper.

Here’s a helpful tip for keeping your collectible clean: your Blue or Green Milk will actually come in a separate cup. When you’re ready to transfer your beverage, a small tube pops out of the Coaxium Sipper – perfectly sized to hold a single serving of either of those famously colored drinks.

What Star Wars collectibles are you hoping to snag on your next visit to the Disney theme parks?

Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” Launches Summer Movie Season With $76M Domestic Debut

Start your engines, Marvel fans — the summer movie season is officially in full swing, and it’s being led by an unlikely team of antiheroes. THUNDERBOLTS*, the latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, just cruised to a $76 million domestic debut, giving Disney a solid (if not spectacular) start to the blockbuster-packed months ahead.

While that number doesn’t exactly smash records in Marvel fashion, it’s still a promising showing for a film spotlighting some of the MCU’s lesser-known names. With characters like Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and John Walker (Wyatt Russell) front and center, Thunderbolts* falls more in line with other “newcomer” MCU launches like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ($75M) and Eternals ($71M).

Critics and fans alike seem to be rallying behind the squad, with the film currently sitting at a strong 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and earning an “A-” CinemaScore — a great sign for staying power. Word of mouth could prove crucial as Thunderbolts* battles for box office dominance in the weeks ahead.

A Win for Marvel’s “Middle Class”

According to industry analysts, this isn’t the type of superhero debut that grabs headlines like Endgame or Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it’s a healthy win for a franchise looking to regain momentum. Following a string of box office duds (The Marvels, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Captain America: Brave New World), THUNDERBOLTS* is showing that the MCU can still take risks — and have them pay off.

“This is a very good opening for a new superhero story,” said David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research. “It’s above average for the genre, and in this case, average is a big number.”

With a production budget of $180 million and another $100 million in marketing, THUNDERBOLTS* will need to keep that momentum going. Thankfully, global ticket sales are already zooming forward — the film brought in $162.1 million worldwide in its opening weekend, including $86.1 million internationally.

The Big Picture: A Promising Start for Summer

THUNDERBOLTS* has officially kicked off what’s expected to be a booming summer box office, following years of pandemic and strike-related disruptions. Paul Dergarabedian of Comscore called this “one of the best Mays on record,” and with films like Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on deck for Memorial Day, there’s potential for fireworks both on-screen and in ticket sales.

Other films holding strong include:

  • “Sinners” (directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan): $33 million in its third weekend, with $236 million global total so far
  • “A Minecraft Movie”: $13.5 million in its fifth weekend, totaling a staggering $873 million globally
  • “The Accountant 2”: Down 61% with $9.45 million, struggling to break even
  • “Until Dawn”: $3.8 million in its second weekend, showing moderate success on a modest budget

Despite overall box office numbers still trailing 2019 by 31%, they’re now up 15.8% over 2024 — a welcome sign that audiences are finally returning to theaters in large numbers.

Progress Rolls On at Test Track: Awning Work Continues as 3.0 Version Nears Completion

Things are revving up at EPCOT—literally—as construction continues on the reimagining of Test Track, and this week we spotted some new progress that’s sure to excite fans eager to ride the next generation of this iconic attraction.

During a recent visit to the park, we got a closer look at the freshly installed awning that now sits over the ride’s entrance area. While the structure itself has been in place for a few weeks, crews are still hard at work adding the finishing touches. Work is currently focused on completing the soffit and lighting package underneath the canopy, which will give the area a sleek, futuristic glow once it’s finished.

We also spotted a key sign (pun absolutely intended) that things are moving in the right direction: queue signage is now in place! New signs for Lightning Lane, Standby, and Single Rider are now visible under the awning, giving us a sneak peek at the ride’s updated entry layout and operations flow.

A Reimagined Ride for the Road Ahead

As we inch closer to the debut of Test Track 3.0, Disney continues to tease the attraction’s transformation. Announced at D23 during the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase, this next chapter in the Test Track story is being crafted by Walt Disney Imagineering in collaboration with Chevrolet. The goal? To celebrate humanity’s drive toward a brighter tomorrow—a theme that ties the attraction back to its original EPCOT spirit.

Guests can expect a queue filled with six unique exhibits, spotlighting not only vehicles but also the innovators and designers who are shaping the future of motion. Each room is set to explore how people and technology come together to move us forward—quite literally.

Once on board, the revamped ride will take guests on a journey through cutting-edge show scenes that dive into onboard technology, customization, and personalization—hallmarks of today’s evolving automotive world. And in true EPCOT fashion, the experience won’t just focus on the tech; it’ll also celebrate the joy of driving with a scenic outdoor finale that reminds us of why we fell in love with the open road in the first place.

So buckle up, EPCOT fans—the next generation of Test Track is almost here, and it’s looking like a thrilling ride down memory lane with a high-tech twist for the future.

Oh Boy! Disney’s Pop Century Resort Rooms Get a Fresh New Look

Disney is bringing a pop of magic to Pop Century Resort—literally! As part of an ongoing refurbishment project, Disney has released the first official look at the updated hotel rooms, and while the changes are subtle, they definitely pack a pixie-dusted punch.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane—with a modern twist—as we explore what’s new in these groovy guest rooms.

A Splash of Color and Character

The refreshed rooms at Pop Century are still rocking that 1950s-to-1990s flair, but now with a softer, more vibrant palette. The previous all-white walls have been traded in for a calming sky blue hue around the bed and bathroom areas, giving the space a breezier, more inviting feel. The TV wall remains neutral, keeping things balanced.

Speaking of balance, the furniture layout remains the same, including the standard bed and that now-familiar pull-down bed (introduced in the 2017 refurb). When stowed away, the pull-down doubles as a table, and when down, guests are greeted by a sleeping Pluto dreaming of bones in comic-style art—still the same charming panel as before.

Above the main bed, you’ll still find the colorful triptych of Mickey Mouse faces that feels like a nod to classic pop art and Andy Warhol vibes. It’s all very on-brand for Pop Century’s retro aesthetic.

Polka Dots and Playful Vibes

The biggest visual update comes from the new curtain design. These fresh drapes feature bold red polka dots over a white background with a delightful silhouette of Mickey Mouse in the corner, exclaiming “Oh Boy!” It’s cute, it’s classic, and it screams Disney in the best way.

Beneath the beds, a brand-new geometric area rug adds another pop of personality. Expect a splash of blue, gray, green, and orange in a playful pattern that feels right at home in this era-hopping resort.

Furnishings & Flooring

Disney didn’t change much structurally in this round of upgrades—this is considered a “soft goods” refurbishment, meaning the changes are mostly cosmetic. That said, the floors did get a glow-up! The rooms now feature laminate flooring with a warm wood finish that matches the cabinetry and Murphy bed, giving everything a more cohesive and polished look.

Chairs by the table also got a fabric refresh, staying stylish and comfy for when you want to enjoy a quick bite or plan your park day with a cup of Joffrey’s in hand.

Bathroom Touches

Don’t expect major changes in the bathroom, but the color from the bedroom does carry over here with matching blue walls near the sink and mirror. The vanity area remains sleek and practical, with open shelving, towel racks, and plenty of lighting for getting ready before rope drop.

More to Come at Pop Century

The resort is in the middle of an overall refresh beyond the rooms. Guests visiting Everything POP Shopping & Dining will find a newly redesigned coffee station, which recently debuted to much caffeinated fanfare. The full room refurbishment project is expected to wrap up by February 2026, so more updated rooms will continue rolling out in the coming months.

Downtown Disney Construction Underway as Expansion Taking Shape

A New Look for Downtown Disney: Expansion Construction Update

Exciting changes are taking shape on the west side of Downtown Disney! We’re seeing significant progress at the sites of the former Tortilla Jo’s and ESPN Zone, and the new Earl of Sandwich is steadily moving forward.

Related – Porto’s Bakery to Begin New Construction in Downtown Disney

Rather than a complete demolition, the former Tortilla Jo’s building is undergoing a significant transformation, with its second story being removed. The exposed framework of the top level reveals the shift towards a mid-century modern aesthetic, aligning it with the rest of the evolving shopping district.

Looking at the front of the building, where Tortilla Jo’s quick service once stood, the removal of the large themed tower down to its metal structure offers a clearer perspective on the upcoming Arthur & Sons restaurant, especially with concept art now visible on the construction fence.

Over on the east side, facing Splitsville, the transformation into Pearl’s Roadhouse BBQ is even more apparent, with exposed metal beams revealing the early stages of its construction. Both Pearl’s Roadhouse BBQ and the upcoming Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon are exciting new concepts brought to life by Michelin-starred Chef Joe Isidori.

Pearl’s Roadhouse BBQ promises to deliver beloved BBQ staples like pulled pork, beef brisket, and smoked turkey, while Arthur & Sons aims to provide guests with a refined and classic steakhouse experience.

The former ESPN Zone building, a sizable two-story structure, is being reimagined to house multiple distinct experiences, sparking anticipation for what exciting new concepts will occupy this prime location.

The scrims have now been removed from the former front entrance, revealing a significant exterior change. Nearly all the visible brickwork has been painted white, giving the building a fresh, clean aesthetic that harmonizes with the bright, mid-century inspired architecture recently introduced to Downtown Disney’s west side. Adding a touch of color, vibrant bands now adorn the upper sections of the building’s four prominent columns.

The north side of the building, facing the resort’s expansive parking structure, continues to showcase the white paint and vibrant accents. In contrast, the south side, directly across from Din Tai Fung, remains largely concealed behind scrim. However, closer to the Disneyland Hotel, some of the original brickwork is still visible.

Also taking shape in the west end of Downtown Disney is the new Earl of Sandwich building. The new building will be two stories. The ground level will feature a quick-service Earl of Sandwich, while the upper level will be a table-service gastropub. Guests visiting Downtown Disney right now can see the shell of the building along with scrim up around it.

Are you looking forward to seeing the construction finished at Downtown Disney?

Disneyland 70th Anniversary Decorations Begin to Appear

Inside Disneyland park, guests are greeted by a floral Mickey arrangement. The flowers have been changed over to vibrant colors in shades of purple, pink and blue. Multi-colored banners and bunting will soon brighten the Disneyland Railroad Main Street U.S.A. station, and a large “70 Celebrate Happy” sign will take its place at the flowerbed’s peak.

Walls currently hide a majority of the new statue being installed at the esplanade. Guests can see part of it peeking out above the walls. When it’s finished it will be a striking 50-foot sculpture, a modern homage to Sleeping Beauty Castle. Its design will incorporate vibrant glass panels and gleaming golden charms, each symbolizing one of Disneyland’s five original lands.

Those are just a couple of the new 70th decorations we’ve seen popping up at the resort. Main Street U.S.A. will be part of the anniversary magic with its own decorations, and the heart of Town Square will feature a special Mickey and Minnie display. Sleeping Beauty Castle will proudly display an elegant “70” medallion on its front.

The celebration will continue into Disney California Adventure, where Carthay Circle Restaurant will be decked out in the 70th-anniversary theme. As evening falls, the restaurant’s exterior will become the stage for a unique “celebrate happy” experience, using music, lights, and projection effects set to the “Celebrate Happy” song. This lively ambiance will extend across Carthay Circle and Buena Vista Street, bathed in twinkling lights, dynamic projections, and colorful displays.

The festive spirit of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary will also be felt throughout the Downtown Disney District and the Disneyland Resort hotels, each adorned with special decor.

This may sound like another routine investor session—but make no mistake: this moment could have major implications for the future of Disney’s leadership.

D’Amaro in the Spotlight

While D’Amaro will be fielding questions on Disney’s vast Experiences portfolio—think Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and more—his appearance at this high-profile conference comes with some added intrigue. That’s because he’s widely rumored to be one of the top contenders to succeed Bob Iger as Disney CEO.

Iger himself spoke at last year’s MoffettNathanson event, and many insiders are interpreting D’Amaro’s selection as a deliberate move by the company to further elevate his public profile within the investment and media world.

Why This Conference Matters

The MoffettNathanson conference isn’t your average earnings call. It’s a must-watch gathering for investors, tech leaders, and strategists, hosted by one of the most trusted independent equity research publishers in the media, tech, and telecom space. Their analysts cover everything from video games to online sports gambling, and they’re known for their sharp insights into the businesses shaping modern entertainment and communication.

The firm is a key touchpoint for global money managers, sports leagues, and consultancies—meaning D’Amaro’s words will carry weight well beyond the Disney bubble.

Who Else Is in the Running?

Reports suggest D’Amaro is one of four names under consideration by Disney’s Board of Directors to eventually replace Iger, alongside:

  • Dana Walden, Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment
  • Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment
  • Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman of ESPN and Sports Content

While Pitaro has reportedly taken himself out of the running, D’Amaro’s candidacy remains strong—especially given his operational leadership across Disney’s most guest-facing experiences and his steady hand through pandemic recovery.

A Moment to Watch

Port Canaveral Plots a $500 Million Course Toward the Future with Major Upgrades Across the Board

Anchors aweigh, because Port Canaveral is setting sail on a bold new journey—with a whopping half-billion-dollar investment into its future. Announced on May 1, 2025, the “Port Canaveral Advantage” initiative is a five-year improvement plan designed to elevate every corner of this bustling seaport. From massive cruise terminal upgrades to sleek new tech and expanded cargo capabilities, Port Canaveral is ready to chart a course into the next era of travel and trade.

Port Canaveral Investing $ Million In Upgrades and Enhancements

A Powerhouse for Central Florida

“Port Canaveral has been a driving force for the Central Florida economy for over seven decades,” said Capt. John Murray, CEO of Port Canaveral. “Our challenge is balancing the business demands we have today while positioning ourselves for continued growth.” And with these new enhancements, Port Canaveral is doing just that—investing in the future without hitting pause on the present.

The “Port Canaveral Advantage” is more than a clever name. It’s a port-wide transformation strategy that takes into account every aspect of the operation, from cruise terminals to cargo berths to recreational spaces like Jetty Park. It’s all about boosting efficiency, expanding capacity, and upgrading experiences—for passengers, shipping partners, and Space Coast locals alike.

Cruise Terminal Upgrades: Big Ships, Bigger Plans

Cruise fans, this one’s for you. Port Canaveral’s Cruise Terminal 5 (CT-5) is set for a major glow-up, expanding by 65% to better accommodate today’s larger-than-life ships. The terminal will remain open throughout the estimated 16-month build, so passengers won’t miss a beat (or a buffet).

Meanwhile, Cruise Terminal 10 (CT-10) is preparing for its own evolution, with a feasibility study underway to potentially welcome the world’s largest cruise ships—think up to 5,600 passengers and ships up to 1,200 feet long. And starting this May, Cruise Terminal 1 (CT-1) will get a fresh exterior with covered walkways, new lighting, landscaping, and upgrades to its parking garage and gangways.

Not to be overlooked, Cruise Terminal 6 just got a boost thanks to a new Cruise Automation Team, laser-focused on keeping boarding bridges running smoothly and guest experiences seamless. Talk about boarding brilliance!

Cargo Operations: Smooth Sailing for Global Trade

Port Canaveral isn’t just about vacationers sipping frozen drinks. The commercial side of the Port is getting a serious upgrade too. Renovations to the southside pier structures will open up more multiuse berth space, while North Cargo Berths 3 and 4 are adding 1,800 feet of new bulkhead space.

The Port is also welcoming a third mobile harbor crane later this year and undertaking vital dredging projects to deepen berths and accommodate larger vessels. On land, new roadway improvements are designed to make cargo traffic flow faster and smoother, cutting down on truck congestion and wait times.

Jetty Park & The Cove: Where Recreation Meets Renovation

Let’s not forget the beachside bliss! Jetty Park, the Port’s beloved recreational area, is receiving a magical makeover. Upgrades include:

  • New camp store and guest cabins
  • Renovated bathhouses and playground
  • Roadway and lighting enhancements
  • Dog park and improved boat ramps at Rodney Ketchum Park

Even The Cove—home to your favorite Port-side eats and drinks—is getting spruced up with new landscaping and entrance improvements. Whether you’re staying for a day or a dockside dinner, the visitor experience is leveling up.

From Ships to Shuttles: A Port Like No Other

Port Canaveral’s connection to the stars is still going strong. SpaceX and Blue Origin both operate from the Port, using its cargo berths to offload and transport recovered rockets and spacecraft. Yep, this port handles everything from moon missions to margaritas!

Final Thoughts

From coastlines to cargo, cabins to cruise terminals, Port Canaveral is thinking big and building bigger. With a $500 million infusion of improvements, the Port is reaffirming its position as one of the top travel, trade, and tourism hubs in the U.S.—and it’s doing it with a bold blend of ambition and Florida sunshine.

“World of Color Happiness!” at Disney California Adventure Park

The all-new “World of Color” show is inspired by Walt Disney’s words from the opening day park dedication from seven decades ago: “To all who come to this happy place… welcome!”

This nighttime spectacular will explore “happy” through a kaleidoscope of emotions, hosted by Joy and the other Emotions from the hit Pixar Animation Studios films “Inside Out” and “Inside Out 2.” Along the way, the Emotions manifest music and moments from other favorite Pixar Animation Studios’ stories, including “Turning Red” and “The Incredibles,” as well as Walt Disney Animation Studios’ stories, including “A Goofy Movie,” “Tangled,” “Encanto” and so many more.

“World of Color Happiness!” will transform Paradise Bay with a brilliant array of signature fountains, dynamic lighting, colorful lasers, fog and dramatic flame effects, painting musical memories with all the wonder that only “World of Color” can create.

The show is an interactive joyride where guests are encouraged to sing and dance along. In addition to featuring classic Disney songs and other iconic favorites, Boyz II Men will lend their legendary R&B vocals in a rendition of “Rainbow Connection,” and FITZ — frontman and namesake of multi-platinum hitmakers Fitz and the Tantrums — will debut a new original song just for “World of Color” titled “Makes Me Wanna Move.”

By journey’s end, you’ll discover that happiness is made up of many different emotional colors, and Disneyland Resort is the magical place at the end of the rainbow where all those colors come together.

But that’s not all … the fun starts even before “World of Color” begins with a special message from some familiar faces. With the guidance of Joe the Legal Weasel, more than a dozen of The Muppets will deliver their message through vivid projections and expressive fountains ahead of the show.

Ahead of the first “World of Color Happiness!” of the evening, parkgoers in California Adventure are invited to vote on the Disneyland app* for one of four different Emotions — Sadness, Anger, Disgust or Envy — to see them featured in special scenes throughout both of that day’s shows. Be sure to enable push notifications and location services on your device, so you know when it’s time to vote.
