Paint Your Own Ceramic Disney Pumpkins for Halloween

Ceramic Disney Pumpkins

Our house, is definetly one of those that loves to do DIY projects and crafts. Around the holidays we love making or designing our own decorations. These Ceramic Disney Pumpkins by CERAMICSBYJAN on Etsy are a wonderful project for creating your own Halloween Disney decor!

These Disney Pumpkins are poured, cleaned, fired, unpainted and ready for you to paint. You can also have this little guy glazed at a ceramics shop. The pumpkin is approximately 7 inches wide from ear to ear and 6 inches tall. What I also really love, is this piece has a hole in the bottom for lighting options. The Etsy shop even sells Corded bulb with switch and clip so you can get everything at one time. These make a great solo or family project and with a blank canvas your decorating possibilities are endless!

What ideas do you have for these Ceramic Disney Pumpkins? I think I would need 2, one for a classic Mickey pumpkin, and another to get really creative with!

Westin Luxury Hotel to Break Ground in Anaheim Next Week

Westin Anaheim
Photo: Orange County Register

Disneyland currently has three resort hotels on Disney property, Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, which can make for slim pickings if you wait too long to book your Disneyland vacation. Fortunately, there are many Disneyland hotel options surrounding the Disneyland Resort. These hotel options make it easy to stay off property, but in close proximity to the parks.

Next week, on September 13th, the Wincome Group will break ground on a new luxury resort in Anaheim, Ca. The group plans to tear down the Anabella Hotel, located near the Anaheim Convention Center, and build the new four diamond rated Westin Hotel. The luxury resort is expected to be completed by 2019, once finished it will be the only four diamond resort in Anaheim not on Disney property.

The 42,000 square foot will be comprised of 613 room, 101 suites, 3 restaurants, 11 meeting rooms, and a pool & roof-top lounge. Standard room rates are expected to range from $275.00 – $325.00 a night. Not only will the resort bring Anaheim a non-Disney luxury resort option, the hotel is expected to bring in 600 employees, of which 450 are said to be full-time.

What do you think of having an off-property luxury resort option in Anaheim?

Hurricane Irma officially made landfall in the lower Florida Keys this morning and is now tracking North towards the Tampa Bay area. Winds began to pick up in the Orlando/Disney World area yesterday and will continue to do so as the worst from the storm is expected overnight in Central Florida. Hurricane Irma is currently still a Category 4 Hurricane and packing winds up to 130 miles per hour. The eye of the storm is currently 80 miles SSE of Naples, FL.

The parks at Disney World are closed and are scheduled to be so through tomorrow, Monday, September 11. Guests are advised to hunker down in their resorts to ride out the storm. Cast Members are taking great care of guests who have evacuated from the storm and/or are currently stranded inside the resorts. Characters have been spotted at several of the resorts and extra activities have been planned for guests to pass the time.

It’s so crazy to see all the parks closed in the middle of a Sunday!

Orlando International Airport To Close at 5 p.m Beginning Saturday September 9th.

Orlando Airport Closure

For any Disney travelers, planning on braving the storm, please take note of the following airport closure which may drastically affect guests arriving and departing from Orlando this weekend.   Orlando International Airport (MCO) announced yesterday that as a result of Hurricane Irma, the airport will be closing at 5 p.m. on September 9, 2017.  No details have been released as of yet regarding when the airport is expected to re-open.

During this time all commercial flights will be suspended.   In the official announcement issued by Orlando Airport yesterday, they also highlighted the impact that Hurricane Irma will have on arrivals and departures from the airport.  For instance:

  • As of yesterday (September 7, 2017), 24 scheduled flights had been canceled including 13 arrivals and 14 departures.
  • 17 of today’s flights (September 8, 2017) have already been canceled and MCO is expecting this number to go up throughout the day.

As each airline has different policies regarding making changes or alterations to existing bookings affected by Irma, guests are advised to contact their airline directly to discuss options.

Here’s a look at the official tweet issued by Orlando International Airport:

Once the order to cease operations at 5 p.m. tomorrow has started, guests are strongly advised not to visit the Orlando Airport whether it be to wait out the storm or to for shelter.

Readers are encouraged to keep following along with Chip and Co. for the latest Hurricane Irma news and updates.

Yesterday the Canaveral Port Authority released all non-essential employees from work at close of business. At 12 Midnight, all non-hurricane Port operations had ceased.

For continuing updates, please monitor Port Canaveral’s Facebook Page, Twitter, and the Port Status Hotline at 321-394-3411 for updates.

This comes in the wake of Disney Cruise Line cancelling three itineraries scheduled to depart over the next four days.
